I feel love…

Posted by Robin on 17 April 2009 14 Comments

Australian model Abbey Lee in the new commercial for Gucci Flora. The spot was directed by Chris Cunningham; the music is a remix of Donna Summer's I Feel Love. You can read more about the ad at Dazed Digital. (with thanks to iceagecoming for the link)

Fantastic advert. Haven’t actually sniffed it yet, but I’m a fan of Gucci by Gucci (edp, not the edt), the masculine was disappointing, but maybe Flora will be good?

I liked Gucci by Gucci too. Flora is fine — pretty, nicely done, maybe not so interesting as GbG. Doubt it will excite perfumistas, but sure it will sell.

I have been trying Flora out for the past few days and agree with Robin: it’s very pretty and utterly non-offensive. In fact, when I was wearing it on my wrists yesterday evening I got the urge to chew a piece of airwaves gum (the kind that’s loaded with menthol & eucalyptus and has that clear-the nose-by-burning effect), just to see what would happen to Flora if it were paired with something a little less uncomplicated. It wasn’t a successful experiment, but wanting to chew really loud gum when wearing a perfume isn’t a good sign.

This was great – quite fun, and little tongue in cheek – very theatrical. Then that extremely louche, bored english girl speaking at the end completely ruined it! She sounded like her mum had forced her to come into work that day and do a voice over.

SO entirely agree — was very surprised by the voice over.

You voiced my feelings exactly. Well, you actually expressed them in a far more interesting way!

I have to say that that is an Australian accent. She is mumbling, as many of us Australians do. I presume it was the model who did the voice over? Dumb choice.

Is it? I can’t even tell. She sounds like a bored slacker.

The scent is pretty too…not as interesting as the commercial though, IMHO.

I love the commercial, it’s so interesting and I had to watch till the end. I bought this today. Like I needed more perfume…. but it pulled me in with it’s sparkling charm.
