Pacifica Egyptian Bergamot Rose, Tunisian Jasmine & Lotus Garden ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 7 March 2009 34 Comments

Pacifica Egyptian Bergamot Rose perfumePacifica has added three new floral scents to their range of personal fragrances:

Egyptian Bergamot Rose (shown) ~ "Although the origins of the ingredients for this fragrance span the globe, this blend is based on an ancient Arabic perfume recipe that I came across in researching perfume history. It was touted for its seduction properties. The early Persians treasured perfumes, using them as gifts, blessings, and tools to secure love. Rose, the beloved flower of the Persians, was cultivated widely throughout the Arab empire." Available in Spray Perfume and Solid Perfume.

Tunisian Jasmine ~ "There is no fragrance that I love more than jasmine. This blend was inspired by a Tunisian legend that tells of the French soldier, Saint Louis - coming from France to wage he instead fell in love with a charming Berber princess. He changed his name and upon his death became the patron saint of the village Sidi Bou Said. It is said that the night blooming jasmine, a favorite flower of the princess, and a symbol of grace, hope and love is a reminder of their union and the coming together of two cultures. This dreamy blend brings together the musky-tea like notes of pure jasmine with a hint of Mediterranean almond." Available in Spray Perfume and Solid Perfume.

Lotus Garden ~ "The Lotus Garden fragrance evokes the inspiring ambiance of a garden full of citrus trees, fresh herbs, and rare plants from all over the world. Lose track of time as layers of lotus blossom, cassis, green violet leaf, and pink pepper transport you to a haven of thoughtful tranquility." Exclusive to Sephora; available in Solid Perfume.

mmmm…Bergamot Rose…two words that always make me perk up and look. This sounds yummy.

Trying everything with rose isn't a compulsion or anything. :-)

It does sound nice, and these are very reasonably priced.

yes, I was just checking their website…very reasonable…but my poor perfume budget is stretched to the breaking point …I'm afraid I gave in to temptation and ordered a bottle of Ormonde Jayne Ta'if yesterday….hanging head in shame….but still excited to be getting the ta'if…

I've been reading more and more about the Pacifica products. All three of these sound appealing to me. Time to visit a shop that carries the line, and explore.

Daisy, congrats on your Ta'if purchase! It's such a beauty. Someday I will get a bottle too. No shame, OK? :-)

Girl, you have to stop getting so far ahead of me with the full bottles…..

thanks, Haunani….I just couldn't help myself…but I rationalized the purchase by putting a post on scentsplits offering a couple splits/decants. If I split off some then I won't feel so bad about the $$ but if no one responds then I'll just have to keep it all for myself (oh the suffering….drama, drama)

Oh mals, I am soooo bad. and weak, don't forget weak…

My hubby just raised his eyebrows and asked me how I was going to feel when I ran out of perfume $$ and it was only march….I told him that I'd petition management for additional funds, maybe a loan against the next cycle…management can be a real party pooper sometimes though.

Yeah, I know… darn Management… all it wants is ESPN and ironed LL Bean shirts.

    And bacon for breakfast.

(Although I have to admit that I just bought two bottles on eBay. Nothing niche, and the total was under $55. Bad me, after I said I'd put the spending on hiatus for another six weeks… oops, and I bought some more DSH samples too. This would have shocked me last year — the very thought of spending more than $20 on a bottle of perfume! And needing more than one bottle! I sigh for my youth, wasted on drugstore scents…)

yeah, second on the ESPN and ironed shirts! but….during March madness it is easier to slip these sorts of purchases past sports-distracted management….you know, until Mastercard calls to verify the authenticity of purchases….oops, I think I confused them…one day: Felanilla from Canada, the next day: Ta'if from London…the final straw appeared to be this morning when the hubby went to the soft water place to buy SALT !!! I dunno, maybe they were just curious what we were doing with all that perfume and bags of salt? Hey, at least I know they're watching for “unusual” spending! :-)

and…bacon is STINKY….mine has already requested the Official Sunday Brunch, which is bacon, pancakes, omelet and a couple sausage links….he only gets the whole-heart-disease-inducing spread once in a while but I guess with my recent FB purchases I better keep my mouth shut and get out the griddle.

I need to hunt around and find my local shop that carries a good range of Pacifica — one tea/coffee/gift shop carries some of the body butters, but not a full range. I'm kind of getting on a jasmine kick lately (got my decant of Drama Nuui) and so I'm curious about this Tunisian Jasmine. Maybe I should stop by Sephora, though I don't remember them stocking a wide range either.

Pacifica is such a good cheap thrill sometimes.

I was looking at Pacifica's website yesterday
I want to try Sandalwood, Spanish Amber, Tibetan Mountain Temple, or Madagascar Spice
I think I'm leaning towards Madagascar Spice
What is the quality of the body butters?

I bought the Egyptian Bergamot Rose solid last week. More spice than rose on me, which was a plus since I'm not a rose fan. Like their Madagascar Spice and Tibetan Mountain Temple, too.

I bought that Guerlain Voile d'Ete that I bid on last week (a limited edition summery carnation thing, but not as sweet as their Cherry Blossom thingies) and three minis from the same seller: Bvlgari EP au The Vert, Bal a Versailles parfum de toilette, and Balenciaga Le Dix parfum. AND… *blush*… I bought a YSL Paris flanker, Pont des Amours. Unsniffed. Just because I wanted a floofy inexpensive rose scent. Word is that the springtime Paris flankers are nice, if a little uncomplicated. And I liked Paris, but it's a little TOO too for me.

Now we'll find out if Bal a Versailles is too skanky for me… Management generally does not like skank — in fact, the girly-wirly-er the scent, the more he seems to like it.

Well, it sounds like you'll have plenty of sniffing to do next week. The Guerlain sounds good just because you used the word “carnation” in the sentence—that makes it sniff-worthy in my book. The Guerlains that I have tried don't seem to like my body chemistry–but we've had different reactions to scents so maybe it will love your body chemistry. Seems I read somewhere that the YSL Paris flankers were nice….might have even been here. Just because it is a flanker doesn't diminish its value if it smells good on you.

The Management around here doesn't like skank either….the flowery the better…he'd like it best if I wore something called Eau de bunches of roses. sigh…he's hopeless….

Anyhow, it sure sounds like you did very well with your $55 !

Anthropologie & Whole Foods sometimes have them, but they don't have the whole range either. Looks like Sephora just picked up more, but not the liquid perfumes?

They're really nice. I didn't love the scent of the one I tried, but the consistency is great.

Management went to Australia/New Zealand in the summer of '07 for six weeks to do some research for a fellowship, and I got to join him for the last half of it. (He did his master's in NZ, so he was excited to show me the old stomping grounds, too. Gorgeous places; I want to go back!) I made sure to contact our credit card co. and let them know they'd be seeing purchases from US and Australia at the same time and not to freak out. They freaked out anyway the first time The CEO paid for a hotel room in Canberra… and called me at home: “Your card has suspicious activity! $500 charged to Fancy Hotel in the capital of Australia!” Ack.

But I guess it's good they do that.

Yes, I've been surprised at how well I do with the Guerlains, since the only one I'd ever smelled before beginning the Perfume Journey was Shalimar, and I don't think I'll ever be able to wear it. (Evil hairy fanged Patchouli. It's all I smell when I pick up the bottle.) Actually, I've only tried four on skin, and the only one I didn't love was Mitsouko… definitely an acquired taste, which I'll continue to try to acquire. Anyway, The CEO will probably like the girliness of the Paris thingy. (“Eau de bunches of roses”! Funny.)

oooh…I'm having a major case of travel-envy!!! I've always wanted to visit Australia and NZ…wanted to go to grad school there but couldn't afford it. You lucky lucky lucky lucky girl!!!!

But, yeah it's good that they're watching…it's just kind of funny that I made 3 out of the country charges then they called when he bought bags of salt for the water softener! that suspicious salt expenditure! Although they made a wonderful catch last fall: they called when $400 of itunes charges showed up in a 24 hour period….cancelled the card and didn't charge me a cent.

Interesting….your hubby has received a promotion—you bought some perfume and he's gone from management to CEO. lol

Of course if these promotions were based on (unauthorized) perfume buying my hubby would be King of the World by now! But he'd still have to take out the trash….I don't touch garbage.

    (it's in my contract somewhere…..)

I bought the Bergamot Rose in solid form last week. It has a really nice scent, which kind of reminds me of Fragonard Baroque, but it only lasts a few minutes on me. I'm thinking about buying the spray, but would like to know if anyone has tried it and whether the sillage is better. Or if not.. can anyone recommend a similar scent which is easy to get in Canada?

God, I've got to thank my lucky stars here! Mgmt loves Chypres, musk, and oriental/spice scents. He loves all the scents I wear, especially ones with patchouli (dirty patch), oakmoss, civet & musk. When I wear florals, it's both thumbs down……

I have not tried this particular scent, but do in general find the sillage to be greater in the sprays.

Lucky Lizbeth! I LIKE florals — in fact, I like them a lot — but I'm finding that I am an incense/spice ho as well, which is not to The CEO's taste. He even had unpleasant things to say about Chanel No. 19…

By the way, CEO isn't actually a recent promotion for him. He may be the CEO and VP of Waste Removal, but I'm the CFO and VP of Procurement! Last summer the kids even drew chalk parking spaces for us on the driveway and labeled them “CEO” and “CFO.”

Then they made a big circle behind those and labeled it “UFO.”

VP of Waste Management….I like that…I'm more like a 'consultant' in that area…I say things like: 'take it out, please' .

    BTW–

Did the CEO ever say what he thought of the Vanille Tonka? Sounds like maybe it's not his fave….my CEO gave it a shrug and an 'it's okay' —maybe it will grow on them because I've decided to buy a bottle even though no one at scentsplit has shown interest in a split. More for me I guess! At least you know who to call if you need more. (by then he'll have gotten to like it)

Hey Joe, I just visited the Pacifica website, they currently have a 20% off special until March 15th. I don't know if it's on all their scents, or just the Egyptian Bergamot Rose, but that's a pretty good promotion if you like the scent! Also free shipping on orders over $50.
