Lazy Friday poll ~ scent the cast of House, MD

Posted by Robin on 6 March 2009 45 Comments

Today's challenge: scent the cast of House, MD. The main characters, in case you need a cheat sheet, are Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), Lisa Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein), James Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard), Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison), Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer), Chris Taub (Peter Jacobson), Lawrence Kutner (Kal Penn), Remy "Thirteen" Hadley (Olivia Wilde).

My vote for Gregory House, which I already mentioned a couple years back (see Desperate Housewives Forbidden Fruit) is 10 Corso Como.

If you don't watch House, feel free to scent a character from your favorite TV show. Or just comment on whatever you like, we're not picky.

Ohh, I love that show! For Gregory, I'd say Jo Malone's Dark Amber and Ginger Lily.

Great choice for House, though I think he would balk at the idea of wearing ANY fragrance. Still, I'd tie him to a chair and make him wear 2 by Commes des Garcons. Haven't watched in a while so can't comment on the other characters…will have to catch up on the show!

LOL – House as a character isn't ever going to wear anything other than Old Spice or maybe Aqua Velva (do you recall his disgust at WIlson's frou-frou grooming habits?). Anything else will end up in the trash.
    For everyone else –
    Wilson – John Varvatos Vintage
Cuddy – Calyx at work, Vivienne Westwood Boudoir for dates
Cameron – Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue for work, Marc Jacobs or Dior Miss Cherie at home
Chase – Guerlain Vetiver because Rowan wore it European, old school classic)
Foreman -> Sean Combs I AM KING – 'nuff said
13 -> Angel & blots out everything else around her
    Taub -> Chanel Egoiste
Kutner -> Burberry Beat or the latest CK flanker

I haven't watched House. HOw about the now cancelled Sex and the City?
Samantha: Bandit (obviously :-)); possibly Coco Chanel as well. I can imagine she'd be a frag hag like the rest of us
    Miranda: l'Artisan's Passage d'Enfer, or CdG's 888
Charlotte: Chanel Eau Premiere or No 5 at night
Carrie: SJP Lovely, okay that's cheating; how about Calyx or Datura Noir
I also, dare I say, watch Coronation Street religiously. I could picture Liz in anything Lanvin. Does anybody else under 70 watch that?
What a fun poll, as usual

Corrie, as it's known by its fans, is British soap opera that's been on for about 40+ years! It differs from American and Latin soaps as it is about a working-class neighbourhood of real-looking folk, not constantly glamorous ones. It is so witty and funny!

Oh, my… House is my favorite show ever:) Let's see…

House himself – something very uncomfortable and non-politically correct, maybe M7 or something. Or L'Artisan Parfumeur Tea for Two.

Wilson – smth classic, a cologne like Dior Eau Sauvage or Chanel Egoist.

Cuddy – smth sultry and seductive, but work-appropriate… am not really knowlegeable on tis kind of scents, but maybe something oriental. Or smth like Feminite de Bois…

Chase – either something boring and sporty, or a try to be original – I used to really like Rochas Aquaman for its peppery first burst, maybe something like that.

Cameron – she's the flowery girl for me, very feminine, so her frangrances would all be flower-based, maybe some white flowers – jasmine, tuberose, gadenia…

Foreman seems like a fashion-conscious guy, so he would probably care about what he wears and actually wear something interesting, maybe Bvlgari Black or one of Montale's Aouds.

Thirteen seems like an edgy kind of girl – Bond no.9 New Haarlem, perhaps, or a CDG from the Inscence series… or Dzing!

Taub wears smth like Fahrenheit, warm, kinda difficult at first, but then really easy to like.

Kutner to me seems like he would try to follow his heritage and wear vetiver fragrances with spices, precious woods, etc.

There was an episode this season where House's shower water line broke and he tried to scam the plumber to fix it for free. But he was sans-shower for a few days.
At the hospital Cuddy walked by him and wrinkled her nose:
CUDDY: When was the last time you had a shower?
HOUSE: Scent of a man. I realize you haven't experienced it sober.

I love House. I agree with those that say that he'd be unlikely to wear anything, but I'd love to hold him down and force Terre d' Hermes on him. The rest of the characters I don't spend enough time thinking about to have an opinion.

Mulder, Opus by Penhaligons, classy, woodsy, discreet.

Scully, she's an MD and no-frills/fus, she wouldn't wear fragrance while at work, but Arpege (vintage) on an evening out.

Samantha: Coco Mademoiselle (for dates) or Dior's Eau Savage for take-no-prisoners business meetings.

Miranda: Annick Goutal's Eau Du Sud-she wouldn't wear scent to work but if she did, it'd be Banana Republic's Classic, a light citrus.

Charlotte: Park Ave. Gal, she'd wear Annick Goutal's Eau de Camille or Antonia's Flowers-Tiempe Passate.

    Carrie: Donna Karan Black Cashmere

I think House would wear stuff he would have fun telling people what he is wearing –
    Secretions Magnifiques or Cumming.
Can't think of anything yet for the others.

Probably. But I've always thought there were inconsistencies w/ his personality on the show. His apartment, for one thing — at one point (don't pay attention to consistency, so don't know if it's still there) there was a pot rack on the wall in his kitchen, with nice pots hanging off it. Are we to believe he went into Williams & Sonoma to buy a pot rack? I don't think so. And even if a prior tenant left it there, no way would he hang pots off it. Much less clean pots. And the whole apartment looks too calculatingly “modern upscale but comfortable masculine apartment” for House.

Oh, I love Grissom, but at work he wouldn't wear anything, lest it interfere with sniffing a clue of some sort.

But for going out…dunno, he's not exactly up on fashion, is he? Maybe something old fashioned but practical like Aqua Velva?

Haha I wondered about Sam's fragrance habits, as once I saw Creed Spring Flowers in her bathroom, which didn't seem very 'Samantha' at all, so she MUST be a frag hag and have lots of different ones. IMO she must have both Fracas as well as Bandit in her collection.

Miranda would certainly wear Prada Infusion d'Iris and maybe the odd Jo Malone (Orange Blossom? French Lime Blossom?). Charlotte is definitely a Chanel girl, with Chanel No. 5 and Gardenia in rotation. Carrie, being on the cutting edge of fashion, would sometimes wear Donna Karan Chaos, Diorissimo, Narciso Rodriguez for Her or Mitsouko depending on occasion. Carrie would also love Bond No 9 scents to celebrate her love affair with New York.

Back on topic…I've only watched a couple of episodes of House, so don't know what the characters would wear, but I might put Hugh Laurie in Blenheim Bouquet, as it is English, interesting and refined.

    Oh Dear!!!

    M7 is MY guilty pleasure…

Is it really uncomfortable and non-politically correct??

    Have I missed a memo?

    LOL

How about Macassar for it's IN-YOUR-FACE attitude? (my other favorite)

I love House, this is probably the only show we try never to miss… so

House – Égoïste & Dirty English (hehe)

    Wilson – Antidote ;)

    Cuddy – Mouboussin-Boudoir

    Cameron – Marc Jacobs Blush

    Chase – Prada pour Homme

Foreman – Ambre Fétiche, Antaeus, Méchant Loup

    13 – Voleur de Roses

    Taub – Pleasures ;)

Kutner – BLV to match his energetic personality

I'd say that House doesn't even wear deoderant….along those lines, for sure he'd be wearing Miller Harris L'air de rien in huge doses….Theoretically I think House would have to wear Mitsouko – a great classic that is really hard to love (unless you love it already).

The only other one I can comment on is Cameron – I think she's a Badgley Mischka Fleurs de Nuit gal. The rest I have no clue.

Interesting — everyone else is putting Cameron in light, inoffensive things.

Agree on L'Air de Rien, perfect choice!
