Indult Reve en Cuir ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 4 November 2008 21 Comments

Indult Reve en Cuir fragrance

Indult has launched Reve en Cuir, a new fragrance exclusive to Luckyscent:

Knowing our love for leather, you will not be surprised to learn that this Luckyscent exclusive is built on the rich leather accord. The traditional citrusy top notes are given a modern twist by the inclusion of spices, cardamom and cloves, and oregano. Instead of being typically fresh, bergamot and lemon in Reve en Cuir have a delicately candied quality and set the tone of the composition with a rich, indolent feel. Cedar and patchouli enhance the smoky character of the leather while never allowing it to become tarry. Oakmoss and vetiver lend the scent that elegantly earthy character that we adore in classical masculine perfumes, while vanilla compliments the citrusy-spicy side of the blend, softening the sharp angles and making Reve en Cuir indeed dreamy and sensual. Spicy, smoky leather with a dangerously appealing soft side – we fall for that every time. Reve en Cuir was conceived as a masculine creation, but as every woman who has ever borrowed her boyfriend’s leather jacket knows – some rules are made to be broken.

Like the other fragrances in the Indult line, Reve en Cuir was developed by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian. The notes include bergamot, lemon, cardamom, oregano, clove, cedar, patchouli, oak moss, vetiver and crystallized vanilla.

Indult Reve en Cuir is $250 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. It can be pre-ordered now for shipment later this month. Update: Reve en Cuir is a limited edition; only 250 bottles were made.

Other recent launches from Indult: C16 (exclusive to Colette in Paris).

Hey, this is what other ad copies should strive for. I like that they describe the scent without resorting to highfallutin or cheap erotica wording. The the leather-jacket borrowing is a cute touch, too, and the fragrance itself sounds appealing.

    Have a lovely day, R! :)

Agree — but note that the ad copy is directly from Luckyscent & not from Indult. Rare to see something this straightforward from a brand, unfortunately. I've only tried ReC very quickly so far but predict it's going to be popular — very nicely done.

You have a great day too!

Desperately waiting for my sample to arrive – which leather scents would you compare it to?

Their copy is always nicely done, don't you think?

    I love Luckyscent!

I should get a sample of this, too, hee, hee!

The notes sound wonderful! But LE? There is nothing that tempts me more than that, talking about priming the pump!

Cazaubon, I've only tried it once (and quickly at that, with several other things) and leather isn't “my” category, so I'm not going to help you much — if it's a dead ringer for another leather, I don't know what that would be. The luckyscent description is pretty on target — this is a smooth leather, nothing raw or overly animalic, very wearable, modern but with a conservative feel (I don't find it edgy, and it isn't that smoky to me). I think lots of people are going to like it.

Oh, this sounds too hard for me to resist! Vetiver, cedar, leather, patchouli, AND oregano! *sigh* it sounds like a dream come true! I hope it lives up to my expectations!

Yes, but they don't have samples available for sale on the product page… or did they, and I just missed it?

When I read “leather” I thought “Mmmmm!”. Then I saw the price and went “AAARRRRGGGHHH!”.

The very first day the description appeared on their site, there was a button to order samples, so I ordered right away. However, by the next afternoon, that button was gone and the release date had been moved out to “early November” – I talked to Franco and he said their shipment had been delayed. So I guess they didn't want to get a backlog of orders for samples that they couldn't fill, and removed the button. I'm sure it will come back once the product is in stock, or you can email them at lucky@luckyscent.com to be put on a waiting list.

Does anyone know if this scent will resemble Chanel's Cuir de Russie?

No, it doesn't really, other than the leather. Much more modern in feel.
