Jesse McCartney Wanted ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 20 October 2008 46 Comments

Jesse McCartney

Actor and pop singer Jesse McCartney will launch his debut fragrance, Wanted, next spring. The fragrance is targeted at women in the 21 to 30 age group, and McCartney reportedly chose the final formulation.

Wanted features notes of bergamot, apple, jasmine, rose, cedarwood, amber and musk.

Jesse McCartney Wanted will be available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum, in a teardrop-shaped bottle. (via wwd; image via myspace.com/jessemccartney)

Jesse McCartney Wanted

Update: Wanted appears to have been postponed, and is now due to appear in 2011. The latest description, via the scent's Facebook page...

This wildly feminine, flirty scent is introduced with energy and sparkle, a perfect medley of Bergamot and Chilled Apple that ignites the senses. As the fragrance unfolds, a beautiful bouquet of Sweet Jasmine and Rose blossoms in the heart, adding harmony and depth. Background notes of Cedarwood and Amber unite with sensual Musk nuances, embracing the scent and adding an alluring ambiance that captivates and grabs your attention, just like Jesse McCartney.

The sizes are now 15, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

I'm just a bit under 30 and have NO CLUE who Jesse McCartney is. Even after reading his Wikipedia entry.
Maybe I listen to too much NPR? :-)
Which makes me think if they should develop a scent with the input of NPR's people. *I'd* wear Eau de Michele Norris or Melissa Block.

Ditto. Never heard the name before in my life.

My vote for a public radio perfume: Ira Glass!!!! I'm convinced it would sell.

I adore Teri Gross, but Ira Glass does makes for a better name!

    lol Jesse McCartney.
His fanbase is pretty young… like 12-15. I'm 18 and I don't know anyone my age who listens to him.

I know apple is in the notes, but it sounds pretty mature.

Honestly, when I saw Jesse McCartney I thought it was going to be like… “strawberry bubblegum accord”

I think the people putting this out deserve some kind of credit

I'm still awaiting the day when my favorite popstar releases his perfume (its going to happen someday D: D:) and Bvlgari Black would be so perfect for him, but I know it'll end up being the worst celeb fragrance yet.

Anyway, even though I don't plan on trying this, and I don't like Jesse McCartney, it doesn't sound particularly bad.

I have a 12 year old daughter, so I know exactly who Jesse McCartney is.

He's a pre-teen singing heart throb who appeals to the Disney TV audience, and I say if Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff, Mary Kate, Ashley & Rayven Simone can have their own scents – why not Jesse McCartney? I think he may have the distinction of being the only boy to have his own scent, all the rest are girls. I can't think of any other guys younger than Usher. I'm sure there's room in this overcrowded frag market for one more celeb scent…

I admit to a bit of a girl crush on Teri Gross; her voice is so sexy. And we can't even call the scent “Fresh Air” because it's too misleading, lol!

Whenever brands list the age groups they're targeting, you have to shave off at least 5 years. I think they don't like to say they're targeting 12 year olds.

It's hard to say based on a short list of notes like that if it will smell “mature” or not, but would guess it won't.

it probably won't, but at least they aren't trying to say its full of fruits and desserts

it even has a wood that isn't “soft woods”

The list of notes is very generic though, maybe I'd prefer lots of desserts. I preferred Fantasy over Curious.

I'm more cynical than you — I'm not sure they're trying to say anything much about what the fragrance is — they're just counting on Jesse McCartney to sell it.

Dream Street was a tween boyband in the early 90s of which Jesse was a member.

Robin, I know this is off topic but what's the difference between a Body Cream/Lotion and a Body Gel? Is a Body Gel stronger than cream? I see Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue has a Body Gel and thats the first time I've seen a Body Gel. Why don't a lot of people do the Gels?

I think of a gel as something like the many “Elixir” or “Satin” formulas on the market. If that's what this is (and I've no idea, I can't think of any other brand using the term “gel” either), those are usually but not always silicone-based. I'd have to look at the Light Blue ingredients to be sure. My argument w/ anything silicone based is that they don't usually have as long a shelf as a regular cream. Other than that, can't say which is stronger — it would all depend on how they formulated it.

    NST,

14 or so years ago, Givenchy's Ysatis body moisturizer came in a cream gel formulation. It had the moisturizing power of a cream but in a whipped/gel suspension, the scent had terriffic staying power too.

Unless this is some sort of marketing ploy to try to get younger girls to want something meant for the “big girls”, I see no logic to this. Who over the age of 18 even listens to Jesse McCartney?

This Sounds Entirely out of the realm of usual Celebrity Scents… It actually sounds like it will work as a true and honest FRAGRANCE and not a mish-mash of notes culled together and some celebrities Name slapped on it to make a profit (Paris Hilton Anyone? Jessica Simpson Anybody????) (BTW, Hilton's “Fairy Dust” has to be the most Distrubingly Noxious Blend i have smelled in ages! It is ROTTEN Smelling and just Hideous! Makes me wanna Douse myself in Jessica Simpson's Fancy! and you know how much i don't like that one! UGH!) Looking forward to a whiff, and also, Jesse has grown up (beyond all belief) to be a very handsome, if totally untalented, young man, so i am sure his Huge sex appeal (and owing now that he is an Adult he is using that sex appeal shamelessly and rather raunchily) will sell more than enough of this fragrance no matter how it smells!

I wouldn't be letting my 12 year old daughter listening to his songs have you heard “Blow Your Mind” or “Daddys Little Girl” Have you seen the music video for “Leavin?” Have you listened to his new album where he says “sex” in a song called ” Into Ya” what do you think that means??!! Or how about when he says ” where we used to [**** bleeped by editor] and do other things to steal your heart” in his other song “How Do You Sleep??”

A couple of years ago he might have been Disney material but now hes 21 and his material isn't suitable for teens under 17…

Im 19 and I actually like his new album, it sort of caught me by surprise but even my friends liked it and we're in college:)

Youve got to feel bad for the bloke trying to free himself from the” Disney” image from his video to Leavin to the things he says in his new songs “sex/fuck” but ppl continue to see him as the innocent teen he was a couple of years ago:(

Out Of The Realm in the sense that this actually might SMELL GOOD! LOL! most Celebrity Scents Fail in that department MISERABLY! so, that this one sounds like it might actually be attractive smelling AND be a Celebrity scent, THAT certainly is Unusual! :-)

I suppose it might, but still doesn't sound any different than anything else…in fact, the description is so vague it doesn't sound like anything at all to me. The proof will be in the smell, I guess :-)

I love Jesse Mccartney personally. Not just because he is cute, but because I really enjoy listening to his music. I am seventeen and I dislike the majority of Disney channels’ new stuff including miley cyrus and most of the tv shows and movies. Jesse Mccartney has departed from his disney channel image which is evident if anyone has actually listened to the departure album.
I am excited to find and smell his fragrance and I will probably buy it on the spot. :~)
