Kylie Minogue Sexy Darling ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 15 July 2008 25 Comments

Australian pop star Kylie Minogue will launch Sexy Darling, her latest fragrance for women, this coming September. Sexy Darling follows 2006's Darling and 2007's Sweet Darling.

Sexy Darling, a woody floral created for the "modern, sexy, self-confident woman", was developed by perfumer Sophie Labbé. The notes feature marvel of Peru, rose, pear, musk and sandalwood.

Kylie Minogue Sexy Darling will be available in 15 and 30 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching Glowing Body Lotion. (via bellemania.de, kylieonline.wordpress)

Another Darling? Why all of these flankers? The first one was horrible & Sweet Darling was sickly.

Showtime was OK, but not worth re-buying. I'd have given that a flanker, rather then the tired Darling line.

We don't get subjected to them in the US, so can't complain 😉

    Lucky you 😉

I was a fan of her music, so I've given all of her fragrances a chance. But I'm so tired of everyone branding themselves.

It makes them all look greedy & self obsessed.

“Marvel of Peru”? I bet it was chosen because of the name and not the fragrance.

Methinks that since the marvel of Peru smells “strong and sweet” (according in wikipedia), that Sexy Darling will smell “strong and sweet.” Horrible name for a juice, IMO.

The name darling is lousy, but at least the bottle looks better in red. And with woody notes, it must be an improvement. With the first two I only managed cautious sniffs at the bottles, both are dreadful.
But then, even considering the potential improvement, I can do without celebrity fragrances.

Agree on the greedy & self obsessed, and we've plenty of that here as well!

Benvenuta, I can't say because the original was in German and used the latin name (which I've already conveniently forgotten). I picked Marvel of Peru as the translation but I could have picked Four O'Clock, both are common names for the flower.

It's a pretty darned silly name!

I will agree it looks better in red…and on the wood too. But have never smelled the line and haven't heard much good about it!

The botanical name is Mirabilis jalapa, and its scent is heady + sweet; it's in similar vein to tropical flowers such as Gardenia, but not as voluptuous or sensual as that. “Marvel of Peru” is a common name given, presumably, because it's brilliantly colored, smells marvellous (Dahlink), and was believed to come from there; and “4 o'clocks” because its flowers only open from late afternoon to early evening, thus – in my view – perfuming the end of a hot summer day in a most delightful way.

Having said all this, I don't hold out much hope for the perfume itself!

I’ve just read a British magazine article which claims that Kylie is actually allergic to ‘some of’ her perfumes.

It just goes to show how little most of them are involved in the development of their product.

I saw this for the first time today and tested it. First impressions are that it's actually quite nice! cool bottle too. I think this is an improvement on showtime!

It won’t be hard to be better ; -)

I’ll try to test it at some over the weekend for curiosity’s sake.

It is nicer to have an ‘adult’ fragrance addition by her. The bottle, packaging & ad campaign is nicer too. It does smell nice on first application.

But, like the rest of the DARLING line, the scent still turns sickly on me. I assume this must be the ‘marvel of Peru’, mixed with the pear. Have you tested MORE PINK PLEASE? It reminds me of that.

    Oh well. I’m sure she’ll have a new fragrance to try in a few months (She’s had 4 in 1 ½ year’s so far)…

I have not tried a single one of the Pink scents…bad on me, I guess I should at least give them a try!

I've been testing it almost daily & I've finally realised what else it reminds me of: Dior ADDICT.

Plus, like ADDICT I keep getting headaches from SEXY DARLING. Still, at least they're trying for a more grown up fragrance.

I'm not a big Addict fan, so I'm not going to need a bottle of SD then!

Kylie Minogue Couture captures the essence of Kylie's effortless elegance in a stylish, floral musky fragrance. Couture embodies Kylie’s new aura, a modern icon whose radiant smile expresses her passion for life. The fragrance opens with an enchanting bouquet of amarena cherry, lemon flower and vintage violet. It builds to a deeper heart of exotic ylang ylang, night blooming jasmine and passionflower that illuminates the heart of the fragrance with its subtle exotic scent. The base notes are composed of musk ribbons which give the enveloping feeling of cashmere while the addiction of vanilla sorbet rests upon the timeless elegance of white cedarwood, for a long lasting femininity. The final result reveals a new dimension of Kylie, created around her personality like a tailor made couture gown.

    Thats 5 fragrances in 2 years…
