Kylie Minogue Showtime ~ new perfume

Posted by Robin on 5 February 2008 35 Comments

Kylie Minogue Showtime fragranceComing later this month from Australian pop star Kylie Minogue, Showtime, a new fragrance for women developed by perfumer Vincent Schaller. The tag line: "The World Is Your Stage". Showtime will be available in two forms, a fruity floral Eau de Toilette for day and a fruity oriental Eau de Parfum for evening.

Kylie Minogue Showtime Eau de Toilette is a "tantalizing cocktail of wild strawberry, loganberry and blackcurrant leads into an armload of roses, blue freesias, lilacs and tiare flowers spiked with sweet liquorice. All beautifully balanced on magnetic notes of rosewood, white musk and a praline-vanilla accord.” It will be available in 30, 50 and 75 ml.

Kylie Minogue Showtime Eau de Parfum is a "sweeter, more voluptuous, fruity-oriental take on the Showtime theme, accentuating its sensuality and magnetism. The top note sings with cranberry, strawberry and blackcurrant, with the harmony supplied by powdery heliotrope while balsamic, iridescent notes pick up the liquorice beat – culminating on the rich notes of creamy toffee, exotic wood and vetiver.” (via beautyiq.adorebeauty.com.au, with thanks to Amanda for the tip!)

That bottle, as far as I can really see it is a little bit like the one of Guerlain Insolence.

The notes, those red fruits, sweet licorice, caramel, musk and woods….eeuwks, not for me!!

I am a little bit on a sugar high at the moment, I had a McD. vanilla milkshake and the feeling that I get reading this, is slight nausea.

Maybe I would have a different feeling if I had taken a healthy wonderfull fishsoup like bouillabaisse..?

had the same reactions – eeek to the notes, and wow, what an obvious ripoff of that cool insolence bottle. i like kylie, but yikes on this stuff.

Marianne, it doesn't appeal to me at all, but then I never smelled either of her first 2 and I know they've sold well overseas.

The cap reminds me of the jeweled caps for Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier — and I've always hated those too.

I usually skip celeb fragrances and I will certainly skip this one too.

And then, people maybe celebs are in the usa but that doen't mean that they are celebs elsewhere.

Sweet strawberries, licorice, praline-vanilla, creamy toffee — Quick, where's my insulin?

I know I 've said that Kylie's been selling out a bit, but they must have implanted a chip in me at the last concert I went too. The voice in my head was saying “Buy me, buy me now!”, so I had to try it.

Stores are beginning to get stock in. It's not been launched yet, but I've just scored a bottle of the eau de toilette version.

First impressions? I like it much more then Darling or Sweet Darling. The fragrance is sweet, with the notes of blackcurrant and liquorice standing out.

I wasn't really expecting much from Showtime so I've been pleasantly suprised. The berries and liquorice remind me faintly of Pink Sugar.

Not a must own, but it's a big step up.

i adore Kylie. I wish that

    (a) She would release her fragrances in America, and

    (b) she would make a fragrance as interesting as her music.

I'm excited about the progress in her fragrances. But her team should do less so they can make the projects better.

sweet darling is the worst perfume i can remmeber, i mean worse then all the puma and old spice and so on stuff. so it cannot get any better. and yes, the bottle is a shame. why you want the perfumes to be relesed in the states? if you need some, write me an email, i will send it to you. they are pretty cheap in germany. though my site is german you can find the address in the imprint 🙂

I've been an american fan since she released the locomotion back in 88 or 89. Its a shame she has never had the popularity in the states that she has in the rest of the world. I would DEFINITELY like to try this scent.

Glad it's an improvement on her first 2, although I haven't tried any so doesn't mean much to me. Anything like Pink Sugar isn't likely to be something I need, I guess.

I have a soft spot for Kylie, and I've read that she's enjoying projects that aren't as physically demanding as touring/performing. Given the cancer and the love-rat problem, I think that's smart. I'm just a bit surprised that the scents are so sweet and blah. There's a dark edge to her, and I'd have expected her to play to that. I also think a scent targeted to a unisex audience would have sold well – she has a huge gay fanbase. But no-one asked me, of course!

I had heard that her next would be a men's, so was surprised to see Showtime pop up. Maybe the men's is still to come?

talking baout the gay community: i can imagine that her fragrances develop diferent and better on a men's skin. so why bring out something “for men” – everybody can use herfragrances. i can imagie that young romantic people would use it in general.

I’ve just got hold of the parfum version to compare it to the toilette.

The parfum is unsurprisingly more expensive then the toilette version (I only saw the 30ml version & that was £29/$57!). It also has the same coloured bottle as the toilette version. You can still tell the difference between the two as the pafum is filled with gold sparkles.

Scent wise the toilette is richer with the berries & blackcurrants. The liquorice also seems tamer. The lasting power is quite poor.

The parfum is sweeter & richer in scent. The liquorice & toffee jumped at me nearly immediately. This is more reminiscent to Pink Sugar.

Liking Pink Sugar, the colour pink & sparkly things you all know which one I prefer. I’ll admit that I’m going to jump on the Kylie bandwagon. However, I still hope her next women’s fragrance will be more ‘adult’; she is 40 this year after all.

Thanks for the detailed description as I'll probably never get to smell them! It does sound very Pink Sugar-ish.

this arrived in my store today and I love it. I really didn't like the other two but they sold extremely well (especially the first one) if you like lolita lempicka, then you will probably like this, its just a sweeter version.

Haven't heard anything about a mens fragrance here in Australia yet. But I can send you a vial of showtime if you're interested?

You are very kind, but probably not worth the price to ship a vial all the way from Australia 🙂

Lolita Lempicka is already on the edge of too sweet for me, so sounds like Showtime might be too much!

    Hi

    new one !!

    haha XD

first sniff didn't impressive me as well. I think this one is too young for her look. A fruity-floral doesn't math her at all. I think she should come up with sth more darker deeper and mysticer ?

I'm not a fan of her ( Britney team lol !)

but hopefully she will come up with sth new and intrested !
