For some reason the movie Groundhog Day popped into my head when I read that quote. Not quite the image they were going for, I'm sure.

LOL, your association isn't far-fetched at all.

I'm wondering if an even lighter version of Pure White Linen (remember, it's a lighter, modernized version of White Linen) really does make sense?

    Whiter than white…

When reading all the ingredients I got thirsty…sounds like a nice cocktail on a warm spring evening. With that wearing a whiter than white gown of course…

“White Linen Hammock” pops up in my mind.

Zippy — and I was thinking that the days you relive forever are rarely those you *want* to relive. Groundhog Day might be a more pleasant reference :-)

Even Pure White Linen is a strong scent though, to me anyway. It's airy-transparent, but very strong & diffusive. Will be interesting to see what they've done with this one.

It does sound like a nice cocktail :-)

The original White Linen is still unbeatable to me.

Since I work for a major perfume house, it's not often that I need a new fragrance. So for me to actually want to buy a new one is rare. I still replenish White Linen Breeze which is a staple in my perfume arsenal and respect the original. Pure White Linen is a nice enough green floral but Pure White Linen Light Breeze is one I would actually buy and probably will during the next gift. And I will make every attempt to go back to the clerk who gave me a sample and buy it from her!

White Linen reminded me of Ivoire de Balmain, which I love, but I was not inspired to buy WL – it had a sweetness I did not care for.
Perhaps I am just curmudgeonly today. Yes, make that definitely curmudgeonly today. And I agree that “days you relive forever” is a loaded statement. Ha!

White Linen is not my sort of thing, nor was Pure White Linen. I'll try this one too though. And you know we love curmudgeonly comments :-)

Tried this tonight. Wasn't impressed at all. i was hoping for a more interesting green: it smells like it's based on a generic green tea scent with florals over top. Really boring for me. I think maybe EL is just not my taste in general. I haven't tried the signature series stuff yet though, so maybe I'll like those.

Do try some of the older ones if you can!

I'm open to suggestions. These are the ones I've tried:

Cinnibar (sp?) is off the list, it's my grandmother's perfume, and I don't do oriental too well.

Pleasures, Beautiful, Beyond Paradise (reminds me of Sand and Sable that my mom wore back in the early 80's) – they are all pleasant enough, if not amazing.

White Linen and Youth Dew smell nice on other people I've known, but tend to sour on me I think.

I'm not sure many are to my taste either, I just think they are so well done. Pleasures, for instance, is just a really lovely fragrance, so much better done than others like it — but still, not something I want to wear. Same goes for Youth Dew Amber Nude — I just thought they did a great job updating Youth Dew. Still don't want to wear it :-)

I did find the new Tuberose Gardenia great AND full bottle worthy.

The Tuberose Gardenia is the one I need to try I guess (you're one of many I've heard rave about it). It's also one they keep in the case and you have to ask them to sniff it. I'll have to suck it up and ask! LOL!

That is so ridiculous that it isn't on the counter! I would hate having to ask too.

Have just tried this and love it. The tea and citrus notes keep the florals from being cloying, while the florals keep the citrus/tea notes from being too sharp. Great spring scent – and the first of the EL line I've actually liked!

I've just tried it and didn't like it. *sigh* The dominant fruity citrus note is nice, but unfortunately the fragrance turns terribly soapy on my skin.

Planning a mall trip this weekend, so we'll see if it works for me — although not a huge White Linen fan to begin with.
