Words to warm the heart

Posted by Robin on 18 November 2007 6 Comments

"We don't listen to anyone," the brothers say. "When we started they told us, `These are the fragrance trends.' And we told them, we don't care. The key to our success is that our heart tells us what to do."

— Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 on their new fragrance, He Wood, quoted in Basta Pasta! in The Star.

I really do like their approach and appreciate the fact that there ARE still fashion houses who care to put out something new rather than another boring 'refreshing' fragrance. He Wood isn't groundbreaking but certainly nice and a good step away from other recent releases. Anyone else who tried it?

I haven't tried it — but want to, it sounds nice.

I agree with BrothaG, it is indeed not groundbreaking, but very, very nice. Smells niche, rather thank mainstream. I feel foolish saying with this last sentence, but if you put it in the context of what most mainstream male scents smell like I think it will make sense.

Thanks — I'd guess I'll know what you mean when I smell it 🙂

I really want to try this and LOVE the bottles. I also love the fact that they're selling 30ml — I'm willing to buy a bottle just to show support for that size! I'll be eager to find out who's carrying this when it's released here.

The bottle is really nicely done, and they were right to insist on wood instead of plastic. Wish it would launch here already, it has been a long wait!
