Donna Karan Gold Sparkling ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 18 October 2007 10 Comments

Donna Karan Gold Sparkling edition fragrance

Donna Karan has launched Donna Karan Gold Sparkling, a new shimmer edition of last year's Gold fragrance:

Donna Karan Gold Sparkling Eau de Toilette radiates with a luminous effervescence and a whisper of Casablanca Lily petals. It is an illuminated floral that sparkles with radiant berry and fresh citrus notes. This lucuriously [sic] feminine fragrance will seduce your senses with its delicate, yet intoxicating scent. For the woman alive with light and fire.

I am not sure if the juice is changed or not, but will update later if I can find out. Gold Sparkling is available at macys and is $85 for 100 ml.

Update: per moodiereport, Gold Sparkling is "...a luminous interpretation of the original edp, the juice features notes of citrus and fruits, offset by Casablanca Lily petals and amber".

I'm one of the few women here who really likes the original Gold (which I sprayed on before bedtime last night, in fact, and drifted off to sleep sniffing with a smile), so I doubt this fruitified version is going to attract much positive attention. Alas. One heartening thought: I suppose the original must be garnering at least some fans for DK to bring out this new version.

I really don't know if it is a fruitified version or not — it might just be the regular EdT with some shimmer added (?)

But agree, was happy to see a flanker as I assume it means Gold is doing ok.

I'm wondering, too. I don't remember the original Gold having any berry notes or citrus in its composition, so I'd put my money on a reworking of the scent. Sounds promising; I can't see Ms. Karan doing a girly-sweet fruitbomb if her life depended on it!

Gosh, so much sniffing to do the coming time….!! There are fragrances that really make my day, maybe this will be one of them?

I smelled this and LOVED it! Haven't smelled the original version though.

I just got myself a small bottle of the Sparkling EDT. I actually bought this after having tested the original and the EDT side by side. I never actually thought the Sparkling contains berry or fruity notes till I read this since it is not obvious at all! So fear not – Gold Sparkling EDT has not gone the way of Be Delicious. To me, the Sparkling EDT is just an airier version, with just enough citrus to lighten up the opening without being obvious enough to smell sweet or citrus-sy. This is much better for hot weather than the original, IMO.

Thanks so much — I will have to see if I can find some to try. Most of the US department stores seem to have removed Gold from the shelves :-(
