Indult Isvaraya, Manakara & Tihota ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 29 January 2007 4 Comments

Indult Isvaraya, Manakara & Tihota perfumesIndult is a new high-end niche line debuting with 3 fragrances: Isvaraya, Manakara and Tihota. The scents were created by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, and each is limited to an initial production run of 999 bottles.

Isvaraya features patchouli, jasmine and plum blossom.

Manakara has notes of Bulgarian and Turkish rose blended with litchi.

Tihota blends vanilla and musk.

The bottles sell for 160€ for 50 ml of Eau de Parfum, and are available now at Sephora in France (but not online) or by telephoning Indult (see link below). If you buy one, you get to belong to the Indult club (seriously!) so that you can purchase more of the fragrance in the future.

Quite frankly: The idea of a private member's club to buy a fragrance is in my opinion ridiculous… Oh my, I am so proviledged to be a member of Indult? Aaaaahhh 😉 Just a marketing ploy to get a mention in the press? Or am I being a cynic?

Well, we can be cynics together. I find all of these efforts to appear ultra-exclusive rather comical.

    Hello Robin,

    Did you smell them?

I went and smell them at the Sephora Champs Elysées last week and I think it's very disappointing. First, it didn't really give me a feeling of luxury when I saw the woody packaging.

For the scents, only Isvaraya, the chypré one seems not so bad. Tihota, the vanilla is not very interesting, less than Gaultier 2 (by Kurkdjian also) actually. Manakara, the rose-litchi, is almost unpleasant. Like both of you, I think the idea of a 'perfume club' is rather dumb. What's more, I agree with you, 160 € is not 'very exclusive'…

No, I haven't tried them. I must admit that I am getting very jaded about all these expensive and hard-to-get niche brands. There are too many new lines to try them all, and it seems so unlikely that I'm missing anything astounding that it isn't worth the trouble of trying to snag samples. So very glad to hear that I'm not missing much…and going back to the conversation the other day about Etat Libre d'Orange — I guess they really do have the right idea, as at least they got my attention, LOL…
