Gucci Pour Homme II ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 8 December 2006 13 Comments

Gucci Pour Homme II fragrance for menGucci will introduce Gucci Pour Homme II next March:

Woody and spicy...The scent has top notes of bergamot and violet leaves, a heart of pimento, black tea and cinnamon and base notes of olive wood, tobacco leaves, musk and myrrh. [Markus] Strobel said the formula is aimed at hitting "the sweet spot" between providing a "fresh, easy to wear' ambience, "a masculine sensuality" and a "distinct, memorable" sensation. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Gucci Pour Homme II will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. Update: see a review of Gucci Pour Homme II.

“Fresh, easy to wear” puts me off. Not another indistinct woody-spicy cologne, I hope. Plus, Tom Ford isn't with Gucci anymore…

Agree, although the notes sound nice. We'll see! That bottle looks like a nail polish to me though…

R: I like the bottle…it is heavy!…and held correctly it could knock someone OUT or worse (has a perfume bottle EVER been used as a murder weapon on 'CSI', 'Law & Order'? If not, WHY NOT?

When I saw the photo though I immediately thought: “I've NEVER liked a blue-tinted cologne.” Kevin

There is at least one blue perfume I like — Lancome Mille et Une Rose, although it wasn't blue when it was first released. For some reason, I don't like the idea of blue perfume, although pink & purple have certainly been overused in the women's market lately.

And LOL — yes — you could kill somebody with that thing. Now I'll have to give some thought to which perfume would make the *best* murder weapon….

I don't like blue juses either, and I don't fancy the new bottle, although I love the old one, and the jus, of course ;-) And the amber color of the jus — OK, I'll stop now.

The notes do sound nice-ish but I'm wary of the violet leaves. But as you say, we'll see…

This chunkster would definitely make a good murder weapon, but I guess some perfumes might, too. ;-)

D: The one I'm wearing today could stun a moose. I shall review it next month. K

That would ruin the surprise, K (if you MUST know, write me at my email and I'll tell you),

K: Okay, okay, you're right – I shouldn't spoil the surprise for you or me. :-) It's just that I'm terribly impatient by nature, but I'll check myself this time. I did, however, jot down your email – just in case. :)

And man, hurry up with that review! :-D

I'm feeling awfully judgemental ths morning, but I read the notes, and had to stifle a yawn at another men's frag opening with bergamot. I'd like to see more exploration beyond citrusy/woodsy (all too often lapsing into Irish Spring) men's scents. And while heavy bottles are pretty, I invariably drop them onto a delicate toe.

But I haven't had coffee yet, and I mellow out once the caffeine monkey is off of my back.

On my 3rd cup of tea, so still think the tea & cinnamon & pepper could turn out nice…but if you are right about the Irish Spring, I'll be disappointed too!

It smells almost exactly like Essenza di Zegna.

Thanks. Can't even remember Essenza & will have to go digging around to see if I have a sample.
