Holiday fragrance gifts 2006, part 3

Posted by Robin on 25 November 2006 7 Comments

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We did some serious eating, and I am still in a kind of food-induced coma. But the fragrance shopping must go on...

At formaggio-kitchen, Rose Petal Jam from the Languedoc region of France. This sounds fabulous; please comment if you've ever tried rose petal jam! $9.95.

At luckyscent, a Red Flower Gift Set with Italian blood orange cleansing body wash & moisturizing body lotion, Himalayan larch reflexology soap with porcelain dish and himalayan larch petal topped candle. $85.

At caswellmassey, the Men's Sampler, a "superior collection of soaps, lotions and gels". $19.95.

At saksfifthavenue, the Yves Saint Laurent Opium Collector Edition, 1.6 oz Eau de Toilette in a black lacquered bottle. $63.50.

At your-cosmetics, a Cucina Dolce Votive Candle set with eight votives (two per scent) in rich espresso, hazelnut, fresh cream and nutmeg & orange zest, all in a confection-style tin. $30.

At scentsandsprays, the Illume Holiday Cranberry Cordial candle. $25.

I adore rose petal jam. I've always gotten mine from http://alittleolfactory.com/rosejam.htm It's from Turkey. Great with feta cheese, on a PBJ sandwich, on biscuits, you name it.

First tried this in a confiserie in Gorge de Loup [what a great name !]. It's swoony- they also make jasmin confiture, which produces 'the vapors'…

    Yum.

Perfume for the mouth… aahhh !

Ah no such luck in having tasted Rose Petal jam yet but the New York Times magazine called it a new staple recently: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/05/style/tmagazine/05tstaples.html?ex=1164690000&en=d1fb0e1eefc3c9c9&ei=5070

Ayurvedic medicine considers it delicious and cooling and possesses it in its armamentarium of healing foods.

    Now I must try it!

Oh, jasmin sounds even better. Will have to look for that now!

Thanks for the link, parmigiano butter sounds worth looking into as well.

I don't even wear Opium – or care much about bottles!- but that is marvelous packaging you've found. Looks like an imported lacquered chest my mom has in her living room…

It is great packaging, and I don't wear Opium either. The YSL limited edition bottle for Paris this year was great too (and also opaque black).
