Bvlgari is relaunching Pour Femme, a 1994 fragrance created by perfumer Sophia Grojsman, with a new bottle design and advertising featuring model Kate Moss. The juice remains the same.
Advertising is to begin in August; the new bottle design should be on shelves in September. (via Women's Wear Daily, 7/7/2006).
Watch the Kate Moss television ad for Pour Femme at Marionnaud.
This is the first time in my life that I will say this…Kate Moss looks absolutely beautiful in that ad. (but she also doesn't look quite like her usual self, so…)
Really M? I usually think she looks gorgeous in ads…less so when I've seen her on TV or in print when she isn't “made up”.
Pour Femme was one of my favorite floral fragrances when it came out; it had much more character than the other florals on the shelves. I'm happy they're just pairing a new model with it and updating its bottle rather than diluting the idea with a multitude of flankers. I can't really see the bottle in the pic, but I'm glad to see it doesn't look that different from the current bottle.
Furthermore, that girl sure can take a picture.
I agree, it's a lovely floral-and Kate looks great-
Someone must have painted extra flesh and cleavage on her, or perhaps she just decided to eat…
I feel SO sorry for those girls, and for the rest of us who worry about sweet young things getting wierd messages about femininity from advertising…
She ate. It was even a story a couple of years ago: KATE MOSS EATS COOKIE. OK, not that exactly, but a few seasons back she showed up on the runway with a little bit of flesh on, and it made fashion headlines. I remember laughing at the time.
I love coming to this blog and I would like to make 2 comments: Firstly, I agree with the comment made about the idea of femininity we are given nowadays (give me Marilyn Monroe over Posh Spice anyday). I like women to “look like” women, I mean, if MM was walking up the street infront of you, you could tell she was female no matter what she was wearing. Curves give a woman prescence!! My Aunty taught me that when I was a child. Anyway, now you must forgive me for trailing off the subject (sort of) but I need to tell as many people as possible about my latest perfume darling, AP “Maitresse” that my boyfriend bought me in Manchester at the weekend. I need to tell everyone like me who fell for the AP advertising and packaging for the previous perfs (I know you shouldn`t do that) and loved the idea of owning an AP but found the original far too strident and the Eau Emotionelle too limpid, this perfume may be perfect for you!!. I would love to go into detail but my nose isn`t really that qualified, all I can say is this perfume is just SO gorgeous! I would love for it to be reviewed one day as I would love to learn more about it. Anyway, I am overexcited and musn`t take up any more space, all I will say is the bottle is gorgeous and the woman portrayed on the label is curvy!! Yippee!!
I'll just say – Kate, marry me! She is such a beautiful and sexy woman. One caveat though, has anyone of you noticed the slightly droopy left eye, I mean, has she been in contact with Paris Hilton lately? 😉
I was waiting for this new ad to come out with Kate Moss. Moss is not your typical beauty…but there is something about her…so attractive and mysterious…
And of course, I like this perfume a lot.
I feel polished when I wear it and it makes me feel like I'm a lady. =0
It's kinda sweet for me, so I'd like to wear it with a gorgeous cashmere sweater.
Agreed on all points…
I haven't tried the Maitresse yet, but am looking forward to trying it eventually. I don't think it is in the States yet…but glad to hear it is worth trying!
On V Beckham: the bones on her thighs look like they are about to pop out. Thin I don't mind, but she looks emaciated, which is not the same thing. Blech.
Must say (in my best motherly voice): Beware, that girl is trouble! LOL…
I wish the online version of the ad had sound, I'd love to know what they're saying about the fragrance. And I need to retry Pour Femme, it has been some time.
😀 😀 You are so sweet, R.
LOL…you just come to me whenever you need protection from “that woman”.
I do like the original AP better than Eau Emotionelle (I have both bottles and Eau Emotionelle is on the other side of my dresser with the other 'unused' bottles of perfume!) Can anyone tell me when Maitresse will be in the States?
(((Ma!))) 🙂
I have no idea, sorry!
I guess I'm in the minority, but I never understood the appeal of Kate Moss as a sex symbol. I just scratch my head and go…HUH?? She's been downright frightening-looking in the past. They worked wonders with digital enhancement in this ad, me thinks.
But Bvlgari! Now there is a house I can wrap my love around! I think they should have picked a classier, somewhat older model for their ads…someone who would better represent their sophisticated perfumes. Even Sophia Loren would fit the bill, and she's Italian to boot!
I would guess we are lucky we didn't get somebody younger than KM — pretty sure that Bvlgari is doing this apparently very expensive relaunch in order to reach younger women who weren't of perfume buying age the first time Pour Femme launched.
Oh, yes, of that I'm sure…but I think they're targeting the wrong market with this fragrance – I don't think droves of younger women will buy it. It's too subtle and sophisticated. Maybe there should be a blog created that just debates perfume marketing techniques! LOL
You may be right on both counts…might be the wrong audience, and you could easily blog about perfume marketing techniques!
I sniffed this recently in a shop but didn't have time to try it on. I'm looking for a feminine, light fragrance, I just want to smell good! I also read somewhere that it was intended for evening wear, would you say this is accurate?
I would say it is light and feminine, but I wouldn't call it an evening scent at all. You might also want to try the 2 newer variations, Rose Essentielle and Voile de Jasmin.
