Posted by Robin on 15 March 2006 22 Comments

Lolita Lempicka L perfumeLolita Lempicka has launched her latest fragrance, L, in France.

The "fresh oriental" fragrance with "salty, sea-inspired notes" was created by perfumer Maurice Roucel, and the notes include bitter orange, bergamot, immortelle flower, musk, cinnamon, vanilla, tonka bean and sandalwood.

Lolita Lempicka L is available now at sephora.fr. The range includes Eau de Parfum in 50 and 80 ml, and Parfum (extrait) in 15 ml. (via cosmeticsintl.co.uk & sephora.fr)

Stacked Style has introduced Dolce Dew, with notes of litchi, pear nectar, wild rose, peony, bamboo, amber, sugar cane and coconut; and Fiore Flirt, with passionfruit, mango, lemon, hyacinth, muguet, dogwood, vanilla, sugar cane and coconut. Both are available now at sephora.

The new Lolita sounds wonderful. I love bitter orange and bergamot, and I have a special fondness for the mapley scent of immortelle. Sounds like the ideal fragrance to mingle with the mapley scent my sweat has taken on thanks to daily doses of fenugreek (to increase breast milk supply — sigh).

Hey you, nice to see you & congrats! I had to do the fenugreek thing too. Worked like a charm, but I did get sick of the weird smell. You probably need Annick Goutal Sables 🙂

I sampled the new Lolita Lempicka recently at the mall. I don't think this one's for me, as it is very heavy on the vanilla (didn't get any bitter orange or bergamot).

The bottle however is absolutely stunning. I would seriously toy with the idea of purchasing this just to display this aquamarine jewel on my dresser.

I think I am the only one that doesn't love this bottle!

Heavy on the vanilla sounds like it might not be for me, but I'll try it when I find it, of course 🙂

Well, I have had the chance to try the L and I thought it was not a take off of the Lolita like the Midnight version was. The top notes are quite unique, if not chocolately, but the drydown reminds me very much of Tutti Dolci's Chocolate Fondue and there are even some similarities to the Body Shop's Amorito. I would not turn down a bottle, but feel no need to add it to the collection as it is too similar to the other scents I mentioned. You have to really look closely at the top to make sure you are pointing it in the right direction before spraying.

Thanks for commenting Lisa, that really doesn't sound like something I am going to like, but of course I'll try it! Where did you find it?

At the Bay here in Canada. It's usually so much harder to find things in Canada…go figure. I liked it, but I didn't love it.

So it is in North America then…will have to do a mall trip and see if it is in the US as well! Thanks.

    Hi,

I found out that “L” will be released at Nordstrom this coming fall. I don't know if it will show up anywhere else any sooner. Sephora maybe?

I am interested in trying/owning this for two reasons: 1) I am becoming childish as I travel ever deeper into middle age, and 2) My husband seems to favor somewhat sweet fragrances. I will wear them for him, why not?

I just received a sample of this from Sephora when I purchased some makeup. By the sound of the notes and the association with the sea and the really nice bottle, I was all in the mind set to really like it. But alas no. It was a dud for me. I got the orange and bergamot immediately and then the florals and the powder kick in and then the vanilla mixes with a very famliar scent that I couldn't recognize at first. Then it hit me – cotton candy! After it dries down all you can smell is cotton candy. Well, I love a day at the beach and an amusement park but not really what I want in a perfume, unfortunately.

That's about how it struck me, but I'm not a big fan of immortelle — almost never like it. This one has tons of fans though!

Can someone help me out? I recently ordered a 2.7 oz bottle of L from Amazon, and it was a really fantastic deal. However, it came today, and I noticed that the liquid in the bottle was a kind of a brownish-amber rather than the blue I’ve seen in pictures. Does anyone know if this is normal? Thank you so much

I’m afraid I don’t know, and this is a pretty old article so don’t know if anyone else will see your question. Might be worth posting on the fragrance board at MakeupAlley!

Robin, I don’t know if you live around NYC.
There is a bakery called Magnolia in the city, knwon for vanilla cupcakes.
They’re really good if you enjoy sweet pastries.
I couldn’t even finish one cupcake because it was too sweet but I keep wanting to go back for another super vanilla sweet bite.

Anyhow, this perfume reminds me of the cupcake-

I am familiar with Magnolia but have not been there. Sounds like L was very sweet on you!
