New fragrances for Spring 2006: Estee Lauder, Guerlain, Claus Porto

Posted by Robin on 31 January 2006 10 Comments

Estee Lauder has released a limited edition bottle of Pleasures designed by artist Ruben Toledo (see picture at right). It is available now on the Estee Lauder website.

Guerlain will launch a handful of limited edition fragrances in March: L’Instant d’un Été for women will be "revamped with florals and citrus"; L’Instant d’un Été for men has "cool, frosted notes teamed with woods". Vetiver Sport will "highlight the original’s most invigorating accents". Also look for Habit Rouge Eau de Toilette Légère and Shalimar Light Eau Légère Parfumée. (both above via moodiereport)

New from Claus Porto: Musgo Real, a collection for men including 3 colognes. Agua de Colonia no. 1, Orange Amber, has notes of Mandarin orange, bergamot, amber and musk; Agua de Colonia no. 2, Oak Moss, has notes of oakmoss, green leaves, and freshly mown hay; Agua de Colonia no. 3, Spiced Citrus, has notes of wood spices, coriander, verbena, lime and incense. I wonder if the juice was also revamped or if it is the same tired old Pleasures in there. I don't know why I even ponder this question, I don't even like the new bottle , it's too…busy. :-D *grumble grumble grumble*

What a lovely bottle for spring! I might just like the new l'Instant variations—I almost like it now, but it is a mite insipid for my swashbucking tastes –JK on the swashbuckling part ;D. Btw, NST, I broke down and ordered the Asfour from Aedes after clicking on the ad here. You do have a tendency to lure people to their financial deaths, have you noticed?

L, I am going to be looking for that Vetiver Sport myself. Sorry about the financial implications but glad you got the lovely As4!

Okay, so I'm not so keen on Pleasures personally, but that is a nifty bottle. Kind of reminds me of a weird cross between the old Laura Ashley bottle designs and Pucci neckties. I like it, not enough to buy it, but what a cool present this would make to someone who wears Pleasures, no?

It would be a great present for someone who likes the scent, completely agree. I'd like to see more colorful bottles like that. So many are just dull.

I am curious about the Guerlain L'Instant (the new version). I finally got around to getting a sample of the regular one, and I have tried it a few times, and I am still unsure if I like it or not. There seems to be one note in there that can bother me.

K, I like it ok, but not enough to buy. I like the men's much better, and dying to try the new “Extreme” men's, which so far is only in France. Not sure that amping up the citrus will convert me to the feminine L'Instant, but I'll try it!

I am a huge fan of the men's L'Instant and I'm very eager to try this new one. The Pleasures bottle reminds me of the ceiling of the Lobby in the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Very famous glass sculptor whos name is for some reason or another, escaping me at the moment. I think it's nice, but not particularly striking or different!

Hey, I saw that ceiling last year…will have to see if I can find a picture of it online.
