Perfumer Christopher Sheldrake, famous among perfume fans for creating just about all of the fragrances in the Serge Lutens line, has joined Chanel as "director of research and development for its fragrances, reporting to in-house perfumer Jacques Polge". (via cosmeticnews)
The Australia Post has released a scratch n sniff rose stamp for Valentine's Day.
New at luckyscent: Black Amber and Black Lotus by Black Gardenia/Michele Bergman.
New at sephora: Sean John Unforgivable, J Lo Love at First Glow
New at s-perfume: full sizes of Lust and Sloth now available. The Intense version of 100% Love by Sophia Grojsman might not make it in time for Valentine's Day, unfortunately, but will be available soon. Coming later in the summer: Mother of Tokyo by perfumer Loc Dong.
uff i'm SO excited about the Intense 100% Love! *bounce*
I'm not anxious the future of Serge Lutens' fragrances because I truly believe his input is essential and they reflect what he wants, not what whoever works with him decides they should be like. So I think the forthcoming ones will be just as good as the current ones, if that little bit different.
Actually, I think Serge should stop for a while: there are now too many scents in the collection. JMO
Line 1: please insert 'about' after 'anxious'. LOL!
Me too!
I agree completely with the first point.
As to “too many scents in the collection”, do you mean too many to sell? Just confusing to customers? Or you think they are going too quickly and the quality is not staying as high as it should?
I just got both the new perfume oils from LuckyScent in the mail yesterday! I'm so excited that I got to preview them first when I went to the Scent Bar in LA. I really am quite taken with them both, I just finished my reviews!
And I'll add a me too, for the 100% Love, I can't wait!

I think Serge is producing too much. Quality is bound to suffer in the end. I would rather there was a small number of 'perfect' works of art. I expect he has to.
It's difficult to keep up. I haven't even tried Chêne as a juice yet. LOL!
It is an interesting issue. Why does he have to? It isn't like the recent releases seem designed to be commercial blockbusters, after all. I shouldn't think anyone would release Borneo for financial reasons — but then, what do I know 😉
V, I am behind, as always — haven't even smelled the original Black Gardenia scent.
I don't know. I have a feeling you have to always come up with something new new new, otherwise you're deemed to be stagnating or something. Shiseido are still behind the Exclusives and they're probably a hard taskmaster. It's all a mystery to me too.
As much as I love 100% Love, I'm thinking the intense might be too much. In fact, the sheer and watery quality of the rose and chocolate notes is one of the best things about the fragrance, imho. 'Course, I'll keep an open mind, if I have to pry it open ;D.
Wow, R, the Mystery of Skin. If 100% Love were any stronger on me I couldn't wear it, and I LIKE strong frags. It stuns me that most folks' complaints are that it's too light. I seem to recall you felt the same way when you reviewed it. I am curious (sorry if you already answered this): do you think it will be “the same” or more along the lines of l'Artisan Extremes, which are quite different? Thanks.
M, that is a mystery, it is very ethereal on me! I understand they've tweaked the notes, but that is truly all I know. Am hoping they've amped the incense and lessened the sweetness, but we shall see!
L, We shall have to wait & see what they've done to it…will help pry that mind open when the time comes!
I am a little scared. I don't like change 🙂 Though I do agree with what Bela said about Serge's involvement. I am sure the line will go on. Right? Right?
I am very excited about Mother of Tokyo. That fragrance line was an unexpected, unlikely, huge love for me.
And the last thing (I promise), it is so strange about 100% Love (re: March's comment above). It seems that there are 2 extreme skin reaction to it. 1 (you, V, me) find it ethereal, etc, etc. 2 (Katie, March, someone else, cannot remember now) think it is actually strong, borderline cloying. Wow!
Katie actually called 100% Love “twee”…it has stuck in my mind because she is always so funny!
I don't know what will happen with the SLs, but I'm not worried. The nose is only one part of the equation, and my favorite (ISM) was done by Maurice Roucel anyway.
