Britney Spear's Fantasy (see picture at right) will launch officially tomorrow, although it is already available in stores. The fragrance's website will debut tomorrow as well, and will allow fans to download "cell phone ringtones with messages from Britney, wallpaper for their phones and online games". AOL members will also be able to check out the exclusive preview of the television advertising, which will hit the tube on Friday. (via prnewswire) Update: see a review of Britney Spears Fantasy.
Fans of Geo. F Trumper's popular Sandalwood fragrance will be pleased to learn that they have now released a matching Hair & Body Wash, available from their website.
Coming soon from Comptoir Sud Pacifique: Vanille Intense. Also look for a new fragrance from Diptyque, Do Son, rumored to be based on tuberose. (via beautyhabit newsletter) Update: see a review of Diptyque Do Son.
CSP is launching Vanille Intense, it's funny. As if their scents already aren't vanilla intense. What they need is to find a way to make “the other” note last, by “the other” I mean Banane in Vanille Banane, Peach in Vanilla Peach etc etc
I feel myself weakening for a bottle of Fantasy. It's actually a very good vanilla! Not to mention the cutie-pattoootie bottle. I'm pretty sure at the age of 55 I am not in the target audience!
M, have to admit I have only tried a few of the CSP vanillas, and all were too sweet for me. Didn't remember even the vanilla part being long lasting but will take your word for it!
P, haven't tried it yet…and in fact, haven't even tried my sample of Curious. Must get on the ball here!
I admit that I swapped to obtain a bottle of Curious! It is sitting side by side next to my Guet-Apens. Surely this qualifies me as an equal-opportunity fragrance fanatic!
P — LOL — I read too quickly & for a second I thought you swapped Guet-Apens for Curious, which would definitely qualify you as a fanatic of some kind!!!
It is good to have a wide range of tastes. I like the bottle for Fantasy much better than the Curious bottle though.
It wasn't really, just outlasted whatever other notes there were…but that is not saying much, because those are usually gone in 60 seconds. If that. So maybe they do need Vanille Intense after all.
Oh, never! I love my paid-full-price-for-unsniffed Guet-Apens!
Cute bottle…hey, you know me, I'll test anything! And, isn't this the one with the cupcake accord? Yummy! 🙂
As for Diptyque: I remember waiting with baited breath for Jardin Clos to debut. The hype was deafening. When I finally received my sample and put it on, it was one of the worst fragrances I had ever had the displeasure of testing. What a letdown! I hope Do Son is not as disappointing.
Hugs!
It didn't seem like a likely swap 🙂
R, Jardin Clos didn't suit me either, and I usually love Diptyque scents. Keeping my fingers crossed 🙂
I sniffed Fantasy last Friday night and I love it! The bottle! The packaging! The scent! It all works!
I agree–I definitely prefer this bottle over the Curious bottle. I heard that the fragrance resembles Brit, however, and this bit of news doesn't thrill me.
Ok, going to have to drag myself to Sephora next week 🙂
Haven't seen a peep about Fantasy yet. If its a foody vanilla, I probably won't like it. I was given a bottle of Curious as a gift. Surprisingly, I don't hate it (I like magnolia scents). However it is a bit girly sweet for my taste.
The bottle for Fantasy looks much cuter though!
The notes are red lychee, golden quince, kiwi, cupcake accord, jasmine, white chocolate orchid, musk, orris root and woods…so I would guess foody-sweet!
Yikes, I almost ordered Jardin Clos unsniffed recently!! WIll definitely get a sample now before buying. What made it so objectionable? The description of it on the Aedes site sounds beautiful (except for the pear which I'm not sure about). But we all know fragrance descriptions can easily and often miselad.
I am intensely curious about Do Son. To be honest, I find Diptyque's Tubereuse sorely lacking on many levels as far as tuberose scents go – it is dusty and androgynous, almost bitter – it really surprises me that it is their most popular. In terms of candles I much prefer Fresh's Tuberosa, though it is far more pungent than Diptyque's and I can see some people not liking it at all. I am a sucker for Diptyque's packaging though, so I'm hoping to love Do Son… I also wonder what that name means.
A, per a post on basenotes, Do Son refers to a coastal town in Vietnam (like Tam Dao, a town that was a vacation spot when Vietnam was a French colony).
Jardin Clos is an aqueous fruity floral. I found it uninteresting and very un-Diptyque-ish, if that makes any sense.
Hmm. Floral is great, aqueous can be beautiful, but fruity is definitely not my thing!
