Thierry Mugler Alien, Liz Claiborne Curve Soul & more new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 27 May 2005 9 Comments

Thierry Mugler AlienMore on the upcoming scent from Thierry Mugler, Alien (see May 23): It was created by Dominique Ropion and Laurent Bruyere, and is described as "a juice with white transparent amber notes, a woody note suffused with the proprietary Cashmeran and a jasmine sambac note." It will be launched in September. Update: see a review of Thierry Mugler Alien.

Also coming in September, Curve Soul from Liz Claiborne:

Soul by Curve for Women, by Loc Dong and Jean Marc Chaillan of International Flavors & Fragrances, is a watery green floral. Its top notes are of hydroponic bamboo, white water lily, green lotus leaf and freesia; its heart is of Arizona cactus flower, Tahitian tiara, blue tiger lily, jasmine, tuberose and gardenia, and its drydown is of blond woods, nutmeg, heliotrope, second-skin musk and incense.

Curve Soul for men fragrance

Soul by Curve for Men [shown], by IFF's Chaillan and Laurent LeGuernec, is a fresh wood scent with top notes of hydroponic bamboo, bergamot, green apple and mandarin; a heart of violet, sage, lavender, floracy of muguet (lily of the valley) and hyacinth, and a drydown of amber, moss, sandalwood, palmetto spice and cedarwood.

And coming in September to Barneys, a new fragrance from i Profumi di Firenze, Zenzero:

i Profumi di Firenze’s smash-hit vanilla orchid perfume, Vaniglia del Madagascar, is warmed up with white ginger to create the collection's newest scent, Zenzero, a seductively addictive fragrance that is as elegant as it is earthy. Zenzero translates to ginger in Italian and was a favorite spice ingredient of the Medici family for their 16th century perfume recipes. Delectably rich and deep, Zenzero is as luxurious as the finest cashmere wrap and captures the sensual glamour of a beautiful fall evening soiree.

Perhaps I'm just in scent-lusting mode, but both the Alien and the Zenzero sound captivating. September seems such a long time away! N

N, I am still so overwhelmed by the sheer number of upcoming Guerlain releases that I can't even see straight. I can't afford to want anything else, LOL! I don't love Angel so I am waiting to see how the Alien turns out. Zenzero is very tempting as I do love ginger.

Umm, this sounds really nice. The Zenzero, I mean.

Guerlain releases are at the top of my list to try, but now I am curious about Alien. Cashmeran is a great note, one of the most complex.

Agree! I did not love the Vaniglia, not being a huge vanilla fan, but the combination sounds wonderful.

V, are you an Angel fan?

Whatever Alien turns out to be, I am thinking it will be a huge seller and we'll be smelling it everywhere.

I really like Angel, however I rarely wear it now, because over the past few years, I have smelled it everywhere. Moreover, it is extremely potent, and I know that many people do not care for it.

I agree with you, Alien is likely to be present everywhere. It is interesting to see more perfumers turning to jasmine sambac as of late. I wonder if it has to do with its more affordable price than jasmine grandiflorum? I really like sambac.

LOL — you are way ahead of me V. I'm sure I can't tell one jasmine from another.

Oh, I am sure that with your nose, you would, especially after comparing them side by side! 😉
