A fond farewell…

Posted by Robin on 24 May 2005 8 Comments

L'Artisan confirms that they are discontinuing the following scents: Vetiver, Santal, and Orchidée Blanche. As previously reported, Oeillet Sauvage and Jacinthe des Bois are goners as well.

I didn't even know they made a Santal. Drat.

It was a very, very dry sandalwood with some lime. Luckily it was not my favorite. Still weeping over my Jacinthe des Bois :-(

Goldangit! I love their Santal! Thanks for the heads up. Will have to stock up this summer.

Oh, these are sad news indeed! I liked their Vetiver and Santal, which were such great layering fragrances. JdB is also a nice composition, if a bit fleeting. I would rather see it being made a part of permanent collection as opposed to Violette Verte.

L'Artisan still has Santal & Vetiver on their online store, and it is also at http://mkn.co.uk/perfume/formen/

Not seeing it in the US but did not do an exhaustive search.

V, I hate to see *anything* discontinued! But L'Artisan is no worse than anyone else on that score. JdB breaks my heart, although you are right that it is fleeting. I never cared for Verte Violette either, but apparently many people disagree with us!

ack!!! The SoHo boutique just got a new bunch of Oeillet Sauvage bottles a few weeks ago…and now it's d/c? I may have to go and grab one before they disappear…

They had Santal and Orchidee Blanc as well, last I checked, for those who want to grab some bottles before they disappear. I don't recall about Vetiver or Jacinthe des Bois.

Glad to know there are still bottles floating around. I stocked up on Jacinthe des Bois already, and I think there are still bottles online. The Oeillet Sauvage is also still on the L'Artisan website (unlike JdB) so it may be around for awhile yet.
