Keap Northlands candle ~ home fragrance review
So…a lot has happened since I wrote my last review here. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, New York City and the surrounding areas have been on “lockdown” for the past couple weeks; social gatherings were discouraged even earlier. My husband and I are both working from home, scheduling video-chats with family and friends, doing some pleasure-reading and playing with our two cats. It’s a stressful time, but we’re grateful that we’re safe and sound.
Since I’m spending nearly all my time inside, it’s a happy coincidence that I started exploring the Keap candle line last month. Keap is a Brooklyn-based, online-only business, offering candles with “nature-inspired scents created alongside legendary master perfumer Christophe Laudamiel…”

From Nomad Noé, the Poet in Hangzhou candle: "Poet in Hangzhou is named for Qiu Jin, an anarchist poet who rallied Chinese women against oppressive traditions. Poet in Hangzhou is a lush, graceful fragrance, a cup of flowering tea unfurling its petals." With bamboo, gardenia, jasmine and tuberose, $65 at Arielle Shoshana.

The Oka Rose Fumée candle: "The English brand OKA has always had a passion for designing stunning homes, where nothing is too precious to be enjoyed... and could this be truer of anything more than a candle, made by Cire Trudon, the world’s oldest active candle manufacturer? [...] The heady, smoky scent of burning cedar, sandalwood and silver birch drifts up to the majestic stone balcony where the woman stands to observe the festivities. Amidst the clearing of lemon and orange trees far below, the crackling flames of the bonfire snake up to meet the twinkling indigo sky. As the people dance, the delicate, dewy petals of the morning’s freshly bloomed roses are long forgotten." £75 for 250g. You can read more about the collection here. Hat tip to David!
