Up in my top 10 lemmings at the moment, Aftelier's Summer Roses Body Oil: "A soft bouquet of honeyed, fruity, and slightly spicy roses on a summer’s day. The mingling of their aromas is intoxicating and transporting, like when you bury your nose in a bunch of roses. This body oil leaves a soft rosy veil on the skin." $75 for 50 ml at Aftelier.

Mandy Aftel is reopening her Aftel Archive of Curious Scents at the end of this month (it's been closed since last March), and she has a fun new product for serious sampling: the AromaCone. "Our ScentCatcher AromaCone is a scent amplifier that acts like a magnifying glass for your nose. This elegant device focuses the aromas under it and creates a denser stream of odor molecules for you to smell. The AromaCone also maintains "nasal distancing" as part of a contact-free smelling experience. It provides a safe separation between you and what you are smelling, and from the other noses that smelled it before you. Inspired by an original suggestion from Becky Saletan." A set of 20 AromaCones goes for $40 at Aftelier.
Up for grabs: Aftelier duo
What is it: an Aftelier Natural Perfume Wheel (“The Aftelier Natural Perfume Wheel© organizes essential oils, absolutes, and natural isolates into scent families, as an invaluable tool for selecting essences when blending a perfume. Like the aroma wheels for wine and coffee, this grouping of natural essences helps you get to know the aromas of each one by what characteristics it has in common with its family and what aroma facets make it different from its family.”) and a mini of (my favorite!) Aftelier Candide. Plus, a bonus surprise that was not claimed from a previous contest.

Aftelier Violet Ambrosia & Olfactive Studio Violet Shot ~ fragrance reviews
One of my favorite winter-themed songs is the American standard “Violets for Your Furs.” Billie Holiday’s interpretation is the one I love most, although I’m very fond of Frank Sinatra’s version, which was probably the one that introduced me to this song. The nostalgic mood, the intimate gesture, the contrast between a wintry urban setting and some fresh flowers — it would make a wonderful inspiration for a perfume. And now that winter has arrived in my own city, I’m suddenly in the mood for any and all violet fragrances. Here are two new ones that I’ve recently tried…
