Thursday scent of the day 5/23
Almost-Friday, and World Turtle Day! What fragrance are you wearing?
I’m in Chanel Cristalle, the original Eau de Toilette, 1974, for Bob Dylan You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, from Blood on the Tracks, 1975. (It is number 56 on the Rolling Stone list of the 100 best Bob Dylan songs, and for those of you who hate Dylan’s voice, here are great covers by Shawn Colvin, Madeleine Peyroux and Ben Watt. It’s also on the bonus disc for the Elvis Costello album Kojak Variety, but I can’t find it online.)
Reminder: 5/24 is Bob Dylan’s birthday…
The daily lemming
What I almost posted yesterday before I got sidetracked by food...from Ladurée's limited edition Tropical Body collection for summer 2019, body powder, rumored to smell like pineapples. The collection also includes Body Sorbet and Shower Gel. I am not sure if it is out yet or where you can buy it, although if you're in Australia, Bon Bon Cosmetics already has part of this collection, and they also have the heliotrope hand cream I was hankering after earlier this year.
The chemicals that give some dark chocolates their smell
Scientists have sniffed out the chemicals that give some dark chocolates their smell.
The compounds that mingle to make the candy’s aroma include pleasant-smelling ones such as vanillin, which gives vanilla its smell, and flowery linalool. But other molecules produce smoky or vinegary odors and even one that smells like sweat, researchers report online May 8 in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
