Dries Van Noten Velvet Violet ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 16 July 2026 3 Comments

Dries Van Noten will launch Velvet Violet (shown above center), a new fragrance.

Velvet Violet reveals an unexpected facet of violet. Inspired by velvet, the fragrance pairs the woody freshness of violet with the warm nuances of sesame. Its semi-transparent glass in deep purple hue reflects the tones of the flower and the sheen of velvet. At its base, a graphic motif inspired by sesame expresses the dialogue between colour, texture, and fragrance.

An unexpected pairing of a fresh flower and a roasted seed. Defined by contrasts and plays of texture, Velvet Violet belongs to a woody floral gourmand family. From the first notes, the duality is present. Focusing more on the leaf than the flower, violet – green, fresh and subtly – takes on a modern profile. In contrast, sesame unfolds as a toasted accord with rich, nutty facets. This interplay evolves seamlessly on the skin. The opening is vibrant, as the violet is sharpened by pink pepper. The heart introduces a deeper dimension through sesame and barley. Within the base, vetiver and tonka bean anchor the fragrance and leave a lasting glow.

Additional notes include clary sage and benzoin.

Dries Van Noten Velvet Violet will be available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum and in a 200 ml refill.

The bottles are so fun. Wish I loved one of the perfumes enough to make the investment. Who knows? Maybe this will be the one🩵
