Tell us about a summer vacation, any summer vacation: one you took, one you plan to take, one you'd like to take. And tell us about the perfume that best matches that vacation.
Or, as always, just talk about something else.

Next year’s summer vacation — and my birthday trip, and our 40th-anniversary trip — is in the planning stages: August 2027, a 28-day cruise that hopscotches around northern Europe, heads over to Iceland and Greenland, and then scoots over to eastern Canada and the US. We took our first cruise just last year and we are hooked, bad. The perfume that matches this is the thirty or so vials that I am going to bring with me so I don’t have to repeat myself.
Today I’m in Mugler A*Men Pure Malt, which does not smell particularly whiskey-ish to me, but it is a terrific variant of the original, warm and heady.
OH! And! I was hoping to see the Mrs. Meyer’s summer limited-edition collection and it finally showed up. The Blueberry is not to be seen — the cardboard displayer mentions only three scents — and I did not try the Tomato Vine because I’m sure it isn’t for me, but the Fresh Cut Grass smells astonishingly like its namesake, much more so than Demeter Grass, and the Dandelion is a sunshiny bright-yellow floral that I couldn’t resist, so I put one each of the liquid hand soaps in my cart. And then had second thoughts as I was wheeling around the store, because I currently have four hand soaps on the go*, which is ridiculous, so I returned to the display, put them back, and got the multi-purpose cleaners instead.** You can always use cleaner, right?
* Two in the kitchen, Rose and Lilac from the Mrs. Meyers spring limited-edition collection, and two in the bathroom, Method Brown Butter and Vanilla and Live Clean Vanilla Peppermint, both Christmas limited editions, because I guess I am a sucker for that sort of ticking-clock promotion.
** Might still get the soaps if they go on sale — it isn’t as if they go bad….
Your ** is Mr. G’s mantra. 😆
I have the Tomato Vine liquid soap and when I use it the entire kitchen fills with the scent and it lasts and lasts. I am thinking of throwing it away because it’s just too strong. Sometimes I can taste it.
That’s why I haven’t bought the dish detergents: I’m afraid that they will make the dishes smell like lilac or whatever and it’ll be noticeable. The hand soaps suit me fine, at least the two that I have: the smell is potent but it goes away after a few minutes, which is just about perfect.
Your vacation plans sound amazing! I hope you will have a wonderful time, unencumbered by any flight/weather disruptions. 🛳️
I really love the Fresh Cut Grass scent. They show up in stores around here in various combinations, and sometimes I’d like to get the cleaning spray rather than the hand soap, or vice versa.
Some soap bars can lose their scent, unfortunately. Sometimes it gets noticeably weaker in less than a year. But hopefully Mrs Meyers soaps last long.
I have a bar of sandalwood soap I bought in Delhi in 1981. It is just amazing and apparently I will never use it.
It’s funny how some soaps retain their scent for decades, while others barely smell after a year. Something about the formulation, I guess.
1981! That is impressive.
That trip sounds amazing – how lovely to be planning that!
Sometimes I think a big part of the enjoyment of trips is the planning and anticipation. Also, so far in advance you can research and build on your plan. Sounds wonderful.
Happy to report that I am enjoying O de Lancome today!
I adore the Tomato Vine products! I have the hand soap and room spray.
Regarding freshly cut grass, I happened upon a perfumery (Life SF, in the Haight) that does the dupe of Gap Grass quite well. The perfume oil is Sage, it’s a perfect citrus/cut grass combination. I think the oil is in short supply and may no longer be in production. If they have any left, it’s probably a smidge.
Soaps are dual purpose! They make great sock drawer fresheners!
(see what I did there??)) 😉
It’s chilly and rainy here — not that that’s a bad thing — so the hand reached for Profumum Roma Arso. My travel spray is at about half-mast, but I have a backup waiting.
I always tell the same summer vacation story, so I’ll plumb the depths of memory for a different one. Difficult, because most of my best vacations have been in the spring or fall. But if I just go by the weather, and stretch a little, there’s always our honeymoon trip to the Napa Valley. It was mid-September. We had a private wine tasting with the owner of a small winery, took a hot air balloon ride over the valley, learned about champagne riddling, bought several cases of wine and had them shipped home, and just generally had a very relaxing time in perfect weather.
A hot air balloon ride over Napa Valley was definitely a highlight of a wine country trip we made years ago. I’ll never forget the sense of being one with the earth and the sky on that beautiful autumn morning. Just an incredible experience!
It was amazingly peaceful. So quiet and so, so beautiful.
What a perfect honeymoon!
Thanks SheriG, apsara, hajusuuri, and Jalapeno for the pants recommendations yesterday. I ordered Levis Cinched Waist wide legs, hoping they are nice.
For vacation I’m going to Penang, in Malaysia, in three weeks. I expect it to be hot and humid, with temps in the 90s (34C) and thunderstorms in the afternoon/evening. I am looking forward to the thunderstorms, they are rare where I live now. I am also looking forward to the food, it’s such a mix of cultures and everything is full of flavor.
SOTD is TF Bitter Peach.
Love Penang!
I would love to go to Penang one day …all those spices, and George Town
Penang, you must be so excited!!
I’ve been kinda curious about those Levi’s Cinched Waist jeans/pants. Do tell if they work out for you!
I can still smell the Carnal Flower on my arm from yesterday! But I’ll be adding some Chanel Bois des Iles post shower (which will be after I have mopped the entire first floor).
My summer vacation this year is going to be a little different for me. Mr. SP and I almost always vacation together but this year I am walking the Cotswold Way with a woman who has been a friend of mine since third grade. After we finish, I will join Mr. SP in Norway for a week. We’ll be visiting his family there. I am looking forward to both (but I will say that I am a bit nervous for the hikes on the Cotswold Way as most are 15 – 17 miles–we could have taken more time and had shorter days but chose not to)! I will bring AG Eau d’Hadrien and maybe one other.
springpansy, Hadrien is probably my favourite scent-it’s been part of my life for so long. I love that cologne. I hope you have a great trip and I heartedly approve of your potential scent choice 🙂
Thanks, carole. Hope you have a wonderful summer, too.
No summer vacation for me. If I’m “traveling,” I generally prefer to go in the off or shoulder season anyway so I’m not mad about it. I’m fairly close to Sturgis now and I’m dreading the beginning of August, when everyone and his cousin shows up for the summer rally on very LOUD bikes. I’m sure it’s an enjoyable vacation for many but I just can’t stand all the noise and chaos. 🙉
Temps today are supposed to be 93-95F and I hate every single degree over 70F 🙃 I will not be moving out of the A/C until after sunset, when I will burst forth like a vampire on the wing and haunt about the town running errands and doing chores. 🧛♀️ Until then, I’m dead to the world and the heat.
SOTD is Devotion. My travel spray is inching closer and closer to empty…
I’m with you on hating the noise and. chaos of loud bikes and hating the hot weather. It’s mid-80’s here today going up to 90’s next week and the humidity is ghastly already. Yuk!
I think humidity makes heat feel even worse, at least for me based on my 40+ years living in Florida. Hope you catch a cool breeze soon!
That’s why I could never live in Florida! (Nothing against the state itself).
I had to kind of chuckle at the Sturgis comments as that was one of my favorite summer vacations. My husband and I rode his motorcycle for our honeymoon to Sturgis, for just one day of the rally, and then went to Yellowstone and Glacier parks. It really was a lot of fun. That was 26 years ago so we don’t ride anymore and never go to Sturgis for the rally😂It’s 400 miles across the state from where we live so we stay home now.
A wonderful memory!
It’s a big draw and huge money maker for the area, I’m sure. 30 years ago I might have enjoyed it, but now I’m in what I fondly call “My Irritable Era” so I’m frequently annoyed. Loud bikes make my hackles stand up and the racket also really stresses my dog, especially all the needless revving.
My Irritable Era…perfect!
Hehehehehe! I will have to tell my brother about the “Irritable Era” thing. It’s perfect for him.
We completed our Santa Fe trip and have East Africa ahead in September with a stop in Paris on the return flight.
SOTD is easy peasy philosophy nude rose.
And September is not that far off, I am sure you are looking forward to it.
My SOTD has nothing to do with summer vacations – it’s a cool, rainy night, so I’m wearing Estée Lauder Private Collection (vintage mini), which fits the weather very well.
Love next week’s CP – layering, but not just any layering: the second scent should amplify a note in the first one. Great opportunity to try different combos!
You smell amazing!!! PC reminds me of Christmas in the 1970s. The minis were always included as GWP.
I still associate the idea of summer holidays with visits to Queenstown and central Otago. We only went a few times, but those childhood memories stay with you.
I know I’ve said before that the smell I associate with those holidays is pine trees in hot sun. Whenever I get whiffs of that, I am transported back to those times.
In recent years, I’ve been able to travel to a few times – very different! I’m only just back and I’m already thinking about where I’ll go if I can afford a trip in a couple of years.
I’m wearing SL’s Mandarine Mandarin, which I got on the trip.
Love Central!
It’s always “Maui or bust!” Hence, Britney Spears’ Maui Fantasy is perfect. Love it!
Maui is so beautiful. I hope they are all recovering from the terrible fires.
SOTD = Lush Jilted Elf Body Spray
I was going to be commando but changed my mind. Even though “elf” is on the name, it smells like summer to me!
We’ve had a spate of hot 🥵 days and I am not liking it one bit! 91 F right now 😡. As I’ve said before, just give me 60-65 F all year long and I will be a happy camper.
You and me and Deva (see her post above) can be happy campers together!
Absolutely! I kind of melt when the temps go upwards of 75F.
My Sisters in Heat Hating Solidarity! 🙃
Truedat!
Give me 74-80! Which is what it ought to be in June. We were only 84 here today but so humid, the “real feel” was much higher.
There was no humidity here so I survived!
I will take heat over cold anytime, especially since I don’t have to deal with East Coast humidity. Besides, those dratted Polar Vortexes seem to show up with annoying frequency out here.
I had no clue about the lack of humidity! Lucky you!
Happy weekend everybody!
Sotd is Balenciaga Twenty Four Seven, a vanilla with soapy amber.
I don’t think I will be having a summer vacay this year. (Never say never though right?)
My dad just came out of surgery and everything is fine. He has a serious heart condition so it was a risky process. Thank goodness for no complications!
Good news about your dad. Sending healing wishes for a full recovery for him 🤞
Great news. Must be such a relief
Glad it went well, happy888cat!
Excellent news about your dad.
I hope the best for your father and you.
Oh good, what a relief!
Wonderful news about your Dad! Wishing him a smooth and speedy recovery.
I don’t have one summer vacation that stands out but highlights from numerous trips that do:
Cruising down the Pacific Coast highway in California in a Mustang convertible. Scent would be Pacifica Malibu Lemon Blossom;
Standing on a trail overlooking the Smoky Mountains, blue sky and 🌞 shining, incredibly green and gently sloping down, down, down to the deep valley below, and my urge to lay down in the green and roll down to become one with the deep valley below. Scent is Dame Perfumery Earth Mother.
Camping by the ocean in Cape May, New Jersey, and each campsite seemingly having its own pair of catbirds. Scent is Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
Stumbling upon an incredible Appalachian music festival when camping overnight in Kentucky in the foothills of Appalachia on the way home from a trip to the East coast. I’d never heard this music before; the beauty of both the music and the setting was surreal and ethereal. Scent is Dolly Parton Scent from Above.
We had a lot of rain overnight and today is very hot and extremely humid. SOTD is Dame Perfumery Monsoon. I always enjoy this on days like this after the rain (and it would probably be a good one for a past trip through the Arizona desert!)
I’m enjoying vicarious traveling through everyone’s trips!✈️🚗🚂
I love your holiday trips
And I love the memories! So many places I’d love to return to.
What an amazing bunch of vacation memories. I am officially envious.
It’s those unexpected – what I think of as ‘serendipitous’ – happenings that make those memories so special, often more so than what you actually set out to see and do!
I’m wearing Nicolas crème ebene from a sample Gaynor gave me and I like it. It’s like dried fruit that has been smoked, in a wood-fired smoker. It also has a sharp note , not sure what. I need to look up the notes. I haven’t been overseas for 15 years and don’t really miss it, but I would like to go on the Ghan train which goes from Adelaide through Alice Springs and ends ( days later) in Darwin. I would add in a Northern Territory trip looking at sandalwood and birds, then back down the eastern coast to Sydney, also by train. Then a week in Sydney and Melbourne looking at art and book shops. Wouldn’t do it in summer though, too hot, but perfect for winter, or the dry season up north.
The Ghan looks amazing…so far as I know we have nothing comparable to that here, in terms of private multi-day rail journeys.
A wise older acquaintance told me years ago that the trips his kids had enjoyed most while young were not the fancy overseas ones but the relaxed California ones where they stayed in a motel with a pool or on the beach and ate pizza/hot dogs/burgers every night. For our two Lego-crazed boys, the summer highlight was always a 90 minute drive south from L.A. to Legoland in Carlsbad, North San Diego County. We’d be there from opening to closing, they would get to buy 1 kit, which they feverishly assembled, we’d eat at Thank God It’s Friday restaurant (burgers, pizza, etc) next to the hotel and they’d swim in the pool until after dark in the warm SoCal night and fall into bed exhausted, then get up and do it all again. Those days are long gone but I remember them so fondly.
Today I am wearing something that would have made my family howl due to its strength – Annick Goutal Sables. The immortelle is nearly overpowering, it’s quite strong, with cinnamon, black pepper, Mysore sandalwood, tobacco. It’s quite a perfume.
You smell wonderful! ♥️
I have an old nearly dried up sample of Sables and the immortelle is strong! and the sandalwood is exceptional 🥰
My family also did many many full days of Legoland in Carlsbad years and years ago. I almost wish I could borrow someone’s little person for a day and enjoy it again from that point of view.
Same! I was there only once, with my son, but he was just the right age and we had a blast.
Like a lot of others, I think my favorite vacations have been spring and fall. Summer has always been “getting together with family” which is dear to my heart but is really about seeing family and not venturing out.
I very fondly recall a trip I made circa summer 2008 when my daughter and I went alone to San Francisco while my husband and son were on a Boy Scout excursion. Daughter was about 12. We had a fantastic time, since it was just the 2 of us and we could do as we wished, ended up being a lot of shopping, eating, museums and walking. I would have been wearing a lot of SJP Lovely then so I would pick that as the scent.
Today I wore Nothing But Sea and Sky. That could fit a summer trip but as beachy as the name is, I think of a cool fall or spring day on the east coast since it is more of subdued sandalwood than summer beach scent. I worked today and needed a soft scent.
What a lovely memory of time alone with your daughter!
sotd = Oscar OdlR edt
From my vintage bottle 💐❤️ it’s a sweet floral scent and such a sweet memory to wear it again.
I always take Terracotta le Parfum and Eau des Merveilles on vacation to the beach. My extended family goes to the same condo, same SoCal beach, every year, for some relaxed bonding time.
Those two scents make a nice contrast with one another, one or the other always suits my mood, and I really need only two bottles for a week’s trip. Sometimes I do take more than two tho! 😁
Those are the perfect fragrances for SoCal beach vacation.
We’re leaving Sunday for our annual camping trip to Forillon National Park in eastern Québec. The campground is on the Atlantic ocean and usually you can hear the waves lying in bed. Looking forward to the beautiful drive and hopefully a good trip (last year unfortunately I got sick the day after we arrived so it was less fun).
Today and yesterday are monsoon rains, thankfully not too hot. Friday is looking a lot less good, 32C and rain. As Robin Williams said in Good Morning Vietnam, hot and shitty. 😂
Forillon sounds wonderful! I’ve been to Quebec but we’ve never camped in Canada so this is definitely going on my list. And your post reminded me of another camping trip we took near the ocean which inspired both my choice of today’s attire and my fragrance. So, thank you!
Have a great vacation!
Wishing you a healthy, happy, relaxing trip!
Have a great trip, that sounds amazing, I missed the sound of ocean!!
ZOMG, I snorted at that “Good Morning Vietnam” quote!
It’s supposed to be 36 degrees C here tomorrow.
Oh, my perfume – forgot that! I think I’ll wear Parfum du 68.
Gorgeous! ♥️
Happy Sunday all!
After a week of plummeting temps and chilly nights today is actually a nice late-autumn day.
SOTD Donna Karan Gold.A favorite lily perfume.Sitting on the balcony now and watching the golfers enjoy(mostly not)their games. It’s a tricky part of the course from my vantage point,99.9% of them just hits one of the many trees to add the extra dreadful shot to the scorecard…LOL.
Hope everyone is doing well!
Been a busy-busy time at work, but I am well, and just looking fwd to the end of this winter!
XO’s
Good to hear from you! Hope work eases up a bit so you can have some well deserved free time.
Hi J B! Nice to see you here.
Hiya J B! Good to hear from you, and that things are going well.
I think I would perversely enjoy that view!
Hope all is well with you JB.
The only vacation that sticks out that I have taken was almost 17 years ago when I went to Hawaii. I went to see my eldest nephew that was only a month old at the the time. It was the first time that I was traveling completely on my own and first time I had been on a plane. I will be traveling to California in July to visit my sister and her family.
Forgive me Donnatella for I have sinned. I was poking around Fragrancenet.com and saw a gift set of Patou Joy for $69. The bottle of perfume would be great for my vacation and I am looking forward to trying the lotion.
Forgot to add that my SOTD is no 5 extrait and still waiting for Chanel to restock the extrait.
Congrats on the Joy! It is such a beautiful scent…do report back on the lotion!
Sunday morning scent is Dior Granville, and still working on a cocktail recipe to complement it (not to be enjoyed this early in the day, of course …). I’m thinking vodka, lime and St. Germaine, but Mr. G seems to think that’s not quite enough sweetness. Will keep at it. 🍸
I adore St Germaine in a cocktail 🍸 I think you’re on the right track 😊💕
St. Germaine makes an excellent addition to punch up some lemonade. But I have never tried it with lime.
ooooh, yes that sounds yummy 😋🍋🟩🌸🍸
I have things to do today and I feel like doing none of them. Procrastination seems to be the religion of my advanced years. SOTD it CSP Vanille Abricot because of its summer vibe. Hope everyone is having a Sunday filled with R&R. 😎
Procrastination rules!
ps note that it took me a full day to even say that…
🤣🤣🤣
We live in a place where people come to vacation in summer with beaches, wineries and orchards everywhere.
The one fragrance that I got compliments on is Bronze Goddess, so I usually take that with me on vacation when I go somewhere. I also take Prada Infusion d’Iris since it’s not overpowering (to me) in the heat.
Yep, we’re usually there once a summer! Although this summer we’re mixing it up and going to Salt Spring.
Oh how nice! Enjoy.
Cazaubon’s post about camping in Forillon Park and hearing the ocean waves while sleeping reminded me of a similar experience I’ve had and inspired my choice of what to wear today – blue and white – and my SOTD – C&E Nantucket Briar.
Assateague Island is a barrier island off the coast of both Maryland and Virginia and the entire island is designated as Assateague Island National Seashore. It’s famous for its feral horses with unique characteristics – they are short with other unique physical traits – and roam wild on the island (they are not aggressive but campers are warned to not approach them). Because the island is narrow, we were able to see both the sunrise and the sunset from the same spot in front of our tent site w/o moving. Very cool! The ocean was just a short distance away and, yes, we could hear its waves while we slept. And there were beautiful fragrant wild beach 🌹 blooming everywhere and evening primroses that blossom at night. Truly a magical place!
Nantucket Briar perfectly captures those roses, the seashore, and the wild beauty of that special place (but it doesn’t smell like horses😂).
Nantucket Briar is so good. I used to work at a place that sold a lot of the C&E products: Spring Rain, Goatmilk, and Jojoba are other ones I recall. Such a nice lineup.
Gosh yes, I can still recall the smell of Spring Rain and Nantucket Briar 💗 so pretty pretty!
Love the beach roses! We have them at Forillon too.
I’m having a very nice, relaxing vacation on Lopez Island, an island in the San Juan Islands. I love that we can get here in a few hours (2 hour car ride + waiting in ferry line and a 1 hour ferry to the island).
Tonight we’re going to an all you can eat oysters and fried chicken dinner at our favorite restaurant. Since Mr. allo isn’t a big oyster fan, I’ll eat all I can eat + what he could have eaten if he liked oysters. Mmmm!😋🦪
I enjoy wearing whatever perfume samples I bring with me and intermittent sprays of rosewater. The island is covered with Nootka Roses, a bushy rose with sweet little, but very fragrant flowers.
Oysters were very much an acquired taste for me, and I am still super picky about them. Can’t handle bid ones at all!
Do Nootka Roses have a lot of thorns on them?
The big ones are definitely intimidating and if I can choose, I prefer them cooked, lightly sauteed or barbecued.
The Nootkas do have surprisingly big thorns for such a petite, unassuming flower.
I am remembering the beach roses at the Jersey Shore. They were covered in very sharp thorns but had simple pink flowers which were incredibly fragrant. I dared to sniff and sometimes got scratched for my pains.
Missed the typo up above, darn it.
That sounds like a lovely scent memory. And they are even more fragrant as the temps rise. It’s been so fun to bike around the island with their beautiful fragrance wafting from the sides of the road.
I’ve had a lot of vacations in my life, and am planning next year’s. It’s hard to pick a favourite, but our hike across Switzerland twenty years ago stands out. It’s nice to hike during the day but then stay in a hotel or on a farm at night, rather than camping.
As for vacations with my family when I was young, I pretty much hated the camping. My dad would do everything before we left to ensure the tent wouldn’t leak, and the tent ALWAYS leaked. Probably the best of those trips was when we drove around the American West when I was 12, staying in pretty nice (for us) hotels.
Camping near the waves — I did a short solo trip to Maine almost 30 years ago, and it was nice to sleep right on the water, facing east, and be almost certainly the first person in the U.S. to see the sunrise that morning (with quads screaming from the 40 mile bike ride the day before). Mr. Ockeghem and I also (mostly) camped our way through the Maritimes around that time, which was lovely.
I’ve got our trip to Peru later this summer pretty well nailed down. It’s likely to be our last big summer trip together as a family of three. I’m already starting to plan next year, when Mr. Ockeghem has a conference in Norway and we’re going to do the postal steamer (or do a cruise that includes the Norway coast and Svalbard). Ockeghem Teen should be working next summer, so we’ll be empty nesters. Hard to believe!
Oh, I hope you have a perfect last vacation as a family of 3! And hope you are happily surprised with another one some day even if this is likely your last.
Happy Monday!
I am wearing POAL + Biofresh Rose of Bulgaria (a simple linear rose scent) to amplify the rose note in POAL.
Why do I love the fact you wanted to amplify any aspect of POAL lol? You smell great!
Well, more like make it rosier and less heavy-dark-red-velvety, even though it sounds like a sacrilege! 😈
It’s Monday and it’s freezing here. Brought the cat in in the middle of the night, and she got under the covers to get warm. I’m wearing my mew to me bottle of JM Black Vetiver Cafe. I loved this scent and really wanted it decades ago, now I finally traded for a bottle. It’s great. everything lasts forever on my skin so no problems with longevity. Have a good day, everyone!
Love “mew to me” — kitty clearly got into your brain while getting under the covers. 😉
lol-what a typo!
My cat is very fluffy. It’s a surprise when she gets wet-there’s not much to her 🙂
That’s one of the best typos ever, TBH!
Early Monday scent is the remains of the Mojave Ghost that was last night’s bedtime scent. For the CP I’m thinking about several possibilities, but am also strongly reminded of someone here LTAO at my suggestion of layering Cuir Mauresque and Jolie Madame. As I remember it, the comment was something like “Jolie Madame, now with MORE leather!” What can I say — it was very early in my perfumista journey. 😆
That Jolie Madame comment thread *was* rather funny!
Is this week the layering CP? I thought I remember reading that somewhere recently…I don’t usually layer but if I had CSP Vanille Banane I would layer it with CSP Coco Figue for the ultimate summer scent. I’m a little fixated on VB now that I can’t find it anywhere. Go figure. 🙄
Still hotter than Dante’s 7th Circle here so I’m back in the Coco Figue, but it’s lonely without VB…🥥🍌
I’d take plain old stinking hot weather over hot and spicy weather.
Yes! Layer to boost a particular note.
My main layering conundrum has to do with Cuir Mauresque. I love the leather but there’s a too-muchness in a linear way for me. I’m thinking Jolie Madame could actually soften the leather with the nice violet note. I tried layering with a rose fragrance and that helped. When I get back to the fort, I’ll do more research.
I wonder what other floral notes would work well with leather?
Our beloved jasmine, I imagine🥰
Oh yes! The leather version of TM Alien is magnificent.
I vote for rose, violet, or orange blossom with leather 😁 my recent enjoyment of a sample of Barénia Intense has me rethinking my fear of leather!
Orange blossom! Thank you for that suggestion🙏
It’s Tuesday here and I’m popping by to say that I’m wearing SL’s Fille en Aiguilles for the pine note. It’s lovely, but it doesn’t smell in the least like sun-warmed pine trees of my holiday memories!
Amazing scent even so!🌲💚
It’s Monday here and I’m popping by to say: I wore original Chanel Chance today.
I also noticed for the first time today!! – that Harrods now offers Chanel Les Exclusifs in parfum strength and bottles are beautifully packaged and in 30ml size for about $440-$500 something. Plus supposedly $30 shipping to the US.
I have purchased Les Exclusifs in parfum strength but in 15ml format off Evilbay for about $500 in the past. I suppose I need to start saving up now because I am obsessed with Chanel pure parfums.
One of my huge Chanel loves is Allure Sensuelle and I was able to track down a couple of cute little tiny 1.5ml bottles of pure parfum of it on Evilbay – when they come it will be my first time trying Allure Sensuelle in extrait. I absolutely can’t wait!!
Thanks for the Les Exclusifs parfum intel!
Yes, was looking at those! And my bottle of Bois des Iles in extrait, 15 ml, was closer to $150 direct from Chanel when I bought it…many many moons ago 🙂
Staying with my June theme of roses and peonies, my SOTD is Cacheral Noa Fleur, mostly floral with rose, peony and hibiscus with some green notes and musk. But it has some unusual notes including coriander, nutmeg and coffee. Perhaps because my small bottle I got on clearance somewhere years ago is old, I don’t smell any nutmeg or coffee, just mostly the rose, peony and musk. A pleasant enough scent for spring and summer. I don’t layer my fragrances except for body products and enhanced the rose in Noa Fleur with BBW’s Rosewater and Ivy body lotion and Rose body spray.
Hot humid and stormy weather is predicted for most of this week, absolute yuck! Staying in today repotting some things and getting the houseplants ready to summer outside. Had to wait until the nighttime temps stayed above 60 degrees and we’re finally there now. They do so well rejuvenating in the fresh air and I get a break from their care!
Hope you all have a nice week ahead and better weather than me!🌧️
Aurora sometimes mentions your SOTD.
We’re getting that same hot rainy weather starting Wednesday!
I have even worse weather than Laila this afternoon. At one point, I was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning which was bad enough to have a countywide alert sent out on cell phones and via email. Thankfully that didn’t last very long. Currently under a Tornado Watch until 9pm local time.
SOTD = O de Lancome. I am really glad I picked up this FOMO bottle. I am not missing out now. 😉
I’m glad you’re ok & hope that tornado watch ends soon. Who knows yet what kind of weather will bring? Each time I watch the forecast it changes and becomes more dire. Oy!
Thanks Laila! Summer can be rather volatile here. Hope it doesn’t trouble places back East later on this week.
Be safe, dear Jalapeño!
You smell great no matter the weather 🍋
Thank you tiffanie! Looks like the truly ugly weather has passed me by.
sotd = Infusion d’Iris edt
I woke up feeling a little fragile and tender hearted today, so a gentle scent seemed like the right choice to feel better.
Not sure why the vague melancholy other than the weather, typical SoCal June Gloom ☁️.
I like to think Infusion d’Iris smells green and yellow 💚💛 and I love it every time I wear it. 🥰
I remember the June Gloom! Hope your mood improves despite the weather.
Sorry to hear that the bummers have you down today. Teflon kitty sends gentle purrs your way.
I’m wearing a favorite comfort scent, Cuir Beluga.
My SOTD/Birthday weekend edition is the original Fendi by Fendi. Time flies and I’ve turned 59! On the inside, I feel like 39 (Isn’t that Jack Benny’s forever birthday??).
I’ve enjoyed far too much cake, ice cream, and rich indulgences. I’m rather glad to be back in the gym and to my regular eating patterns of egg whites and salmon/chicken.
I enjoyed my annual Root Beer Float, which I do every birthday, it’s my favorite dessert (sticky toffee pudding a close second).
