The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 30 January 2026 8 Comments

Another new limited edition candle from Diptyque, this one for the Lunar New Year: Lamei (Wintersweet). "A bright yellow blossom, a beacon of hope in the frost of winter, emerges from a limited-edition vessel bearing artist Zinan Lam's poetic and contemporary design. The Lamei flower, also called Wax Plum, unfolds velvety floral notes softened by honeyed accents and lifted with woody undertones. An emblem of renewal and optimism for the year to come." 190g for $88, but hard to find and possibly sold out already?

With the year of the Fire Horse coming only every 60 yrs, I would have expected a different motif for the candle.

I think plum blossoms are also generally associated with the lunar new year, but I am sure some people would rather have a horse 🙂

Oh good, since it is sold out it will help people not buy it. I’m sure it smells lovely though. And I like that they added a design and color to the usually black and white vessel.

It might be that most of them got distributed in Asia? Or, maybe they are still on the way…

I have a friend in New York who went to one of Diptyque’s boutiques there, where he smelled the candle. He said it was nice but nothing special. Pretty vessel tho.
