This is a repeat of half-year poll we've done for the past few years. As always, answer as many or as few of the questions as you like, or just talk about something else.
1. What’s the best new scented thing you discovered in the first half of 2025? It can be anything, from a flower to a fragrance to a body product.
2. What new scented thing do you hope to discover in July?
3. Now that the year is about half over, what do you think is the best new fragrance release of 2025 so far?
4. Share something wonderful with us! It can be anything — good news you received recently, something delicious you ate, the latest TV series you binged — really, anything…

Happy Saturday, all!
1. My best new discovery is Vetiver Royal Bourbon from Oriza L. Legrand. Thanks, AnnE!
2. I’m looking forward to trying MPG Route de Vetiver. (New to me, not a new scent.)
3. Neela Vermeire’s “Eshal.”
4. Excited to be starting work on a new Netflix project – this time it’s a wild action/crime film from Korea.
My Vetiver Week winds up today, though, who knows, I’ve been enjoying so much it just might have to continue.
For today’s vetiver, I’m in a recent release from Lalique: Encre Indigo (Annick Menardo, 2023.) It’s a flanker to Encre Noire, which is one of my all-time favorite vetivers. Much as I love Noire, it’s not really a summer fragrance for me; it’s so dark, inky, and all-enfolding that I tend to wear it in the fall and winter. Indigo, however, is a good match for hot weather. You definitely get the original in it, but it’s brighter, zestier, and less dense. The peppery, fresh-cut grass opening is quite stunning, and then it softens into a gently sweet/spicy vetiver with a hint of patchouli.
Lalique mentions notes of black tea, saffron, and bay leaf – I get the bay leaf, and the tea; I can’t say I’d recognize saffron, but maybe it’s there.
As to why it’s called “Indigo,” well, I suppose that while it’s inky, it’s not as dark as “Noire.” Nothing marine-like about it, fortunately.
I’ve read complaints that it doesn’t last long on skin, but that hasn’t been an issue for me. It doesn’t shout, and it’s not as tenacious as Encre Noire, but it’s also so ridiculously affordable (much like the original) that you can reapply as needed. You do wish the opening would go on forever, but openings never do.😊
Since I’m a kdrama addict and have been writing lately on Korean director Park Chan-wook, I am dying to hear more about what your work is or entails on the Korean Netflix project!
I can’t say too much about the current project, since we’re still in production, but if you’ve seen any of the highly stylized crime/action thrillers out of Korea – the ones that obviously inspired the equally stylish (and equally implausible) John Wick movies – then you have a good understanding of this latest flick. If you can let go of plausibility, they’re fun, cartoonishly violent, cinematic diversions.😊
My work isn’t nearly as glamorous as the movies themselves, but I do enjoy it. Kind of a nerdy, niche job – I direct the English dub versions of foreign content. (Odd, I know.) For most of us, dubbed movies bring to mind old Godzilla movies, or Spaghetti Westerns, where the clumsy dubbing is part of the goofy aesthetic.
European countries, especially France, take dubbing very seriously. The French don’t want to read while watching movies, and, being French, they only want to hear French. They’ve been dubbing American movies since the advent of the talkies. It’s just part of their culture.
Not here, of course. (I, for one, always watch the subtitles.) But Netflix sees an opportunity to widen its audience, and reach people who simply won’t watch subtitles, but MIGHT watch a dubbed version if the quality of the dub could be improved. That’s where I, and other directors, come in. Our job is to make the dub as good as possible. (It’ll never be perfect, at least until AI is used to shape lip and mouth movements to create perfect sync.) It’s tricky to write dialogue that sounds as natural as possible, yet syncs well with the lip/mouth movements in the original language. We try to cast really talented actors, and give them the direction they need to create compelling performances that honor the original.
This is my first Korean project. Korean, by the way, is a tough language to sync with English words! (German is probably easiest, due to the Saxon roots of our own.)
I remember that one of the bizarre experiences while living in Germany was watching Hogans Heroes dubbed into German. Colonel Klink speaking German in a heightened “ dumb German” voice was so odd.
Oh cool! Yes I’ve seen lots of those thrillers so I have a good idea of the kind of movie you’re talking about. I love them! But like you I am happy to read subtitles and do not care for dubbing. I saw an interesting video about the process of someone who did all the English subtitles for Park Chan-Wook’s film Decision to Leave. I know your job is different but I had not really thought about the need for delicacy and accuracy in doing the subtitles as well. He had a basic version and then went over the entire thing with the director himself to get it approved. In that case it was particularly difficult because the star actress played someone from China who spoke stilted Korean. I can’t speak Korean but grasp enough about common words and odd word order (and honorifics) to know that it must be very challenging to get the dubbing right in most any European language.
Daniel, your Vetiver odyssey sounds and smells marvelous I’m sure! Your Netflix directorial duties are fascinating. I appreciate the insight into different national audiences.
I’ve loved reading about all your vetiver picks this week, and you inspired me to wear Timbuktu earlier this week.
And it was so fascinating to read more about the dubbing process, I learned so much. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve heard that Timbuktu is a great vetiver – I must seek it out! Next time I’m at Scent Bar.😊
The dubbing process is so strange! Sort of a high tech karaoke. But I’m having fun – a very different job from my photography.
Timbuktu is equal parts vetiver and incense on me. Love it!
I also have a couple rose + vetiver perfumes that I enjoy very much.
Oh, that sounds right up my alley.😊
1.Nothing
2. Nothing
3. Not sure
4. My parents will be celebrating their 67th anniversary at the end of the week. Can’t even imagine being married that long 🤪
And happy birthday lillyjo!!!!!!! 🎂🍭🍬🎉🎁🎈🪅🎊🥂🧁🍰🍻🍨🍧🥮
We match on 1-3, and I join you in wishing lillyjo the happiest of happy birthdays!
Ha, just came back to amend my answer…for #1, Lush Sunrise shower gel!
Thank you Robin!
Thank you!
Oh they have the Lilac shower gel and lotion in store at BBW. It smells great!
Congratulations to your parents!
1. 😂
2. 😂
3. 😂
4. 💖 Congratulations!
Wow! About your folks. Hats off to them. Really lovely. 🌺
💖💖💖: re your parents!
Best new (at least to me) perfume was AV Mantes la Jolie.
I am really enjoying the original Bob Newhart Show. Not only is it funny, it has all sorts of “so that’s what the 70s were like!” moments. Miniskirts and maxiskirts – at the same time! Gigantic ties! Brown and orange galore! And after those claustrophobic flights last month: HUGE seats in airplanes, with little trays in between.
I remember all of those things in the 70s!
The Bob Newhart Show is great!
Great show. The humour was quieter, cleverer, less performative than a lot of shows now. Barney Miller would be another one.
Oh how I loved Wojohowitz! Lol.
1. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried so far from FRASSAI, a new-to-me brand.
2. My favorite clothing shop COS has launched four fragrances. I hope to order the discovery set soon.
3. *In 2005, 976 new perfumes were released.
In 2015 there were 4,981.
In 2024 there were 8,811, and this year is on track to match it.
I couldn’t begin to fathom what the best new release is 😆
4. Hopefully by the end of June I’ll have new carpeting and a built-in desk in my spare bedroom!
* according to Parfumo
When I became perfume obsessed in 1970 I think there were only 50 or less releases that year. I’ve given up trying to keep up.
I should have said “best of what you tried” 🙂
It’s very rainy here and I for one am happy to see it … as are my trees. Mr. G is far less happy. 🙄
Anyway, here are my poll answers:
Best new scented discovery? Hands down, it’s Profumum Roma Arso. This is the fourth scent of theirs to join my collection, and it’s a tie between Arso and Ambra Aurea for my favorite.
Hope to discover in July? That my three roses might burst forth with wonderfully scented blossoms. They haven’t been happy so far this year, but I haven’t entirely given up hope.
Best 2025 releases? Haven’t tried a single one, but I’ll be watching others’ responses for something interesting.
Something wonderful? A banana bread recipe that works perfectly every time. And hey, I just realized that it qualifies as “something scented”! (For those wondering, see the Alexandra Cooks website and search for Mrs. Myers banana bread. No affiliation.)
Fingers crossed for your roses!!
Thank you — me too!
Banana bread is such an underrated treat. Will check out the recipe!
Do! One thing I love about this website is that it’s full of little workarounds. For instance, for this recipe she gives a way of making your own half-cup of buttermilk — so helpful not having to figure out what to do with the rest of a quart of it.
Thank you for the banana bread recipe. Looks pretty easy to prepare.
Very easy — the hardest things about it for me are buttering the corners of the pans, and lifting the stand mixer. 😂
🤣🤣🤣
Good luck with your roses!
1. A friend gave me Neroli fragrance that I am really enjoying that is cheap as chips from Roger & Gallet
2. My gardenia plant is not really blooming for reasons I don’t understand and I would like for July for it to start blooming already!
3. None that I am aware of!
4. TV I am watching Yellowstone and all the series before-so right now I am out of order by watching 1923 first and then the 1800’second.
Frozen River so far is an excellent read.
Horseback riding is going well, as most of you know I am applied and was accepted in March and I have been riding twice a week and feeling really strong. I realized how much I missed this in my life! The last time I rode it was before children. My body is not the same, but I am working twice as hard to catch up.
I recently made a perfume purchase of Eau de Mervielles in the EdT. It came in a beautiful box with a horse on it. Let me know what you think of this scent. Hope I chose wisely!
I knew you would like Frozen River.
I can’t say enough about Eau des Merveilles. In fact, now that you mention it, I think I will wear it tomorrow. Thanks.
Ok-I will twin with you. Which version do you have?
Just saw this now. I have the original scent, which I think you do too, but now it’s Monday and I am wearing something different 🙂
I have loved many Roger et Gallet scents, and their bar soaps are wonderful too.
I adore Eau des Merveilles. 🧡 The scent and the bottle make me happy. 😊
The bottle and the color is very uplifting you are right!
I will try the bar soaps from Roger et Gallet
Ooooh! My Libby app just let me know Frozen River is ready to borrow. 👏
Keep me posted on how you like it!
It is very good.
1. Although it is not a new fragrance, I would have to say the best thing I discovered in the first half of this year would be Guerlain Encens Mythique.
2. and 3. I have nothing.
4. After reading pl67’s list of iris scents, I had to breakdown and buy L’Attesa. I have been thinking about it for a while and found it for a good price.
Lastly, I want to wish lillyjo a very happy birthday today!
Encens Mythique is fab
Thank you Kris!
L’Atessa is a beauty!
I tried it quite a while ago and marked it on my spreadsheet that it was nice, but I don’t remember it very well. I found it for a good price on one of the fragrance sites so thought I would get it.
I’m not a huge iris lover but really enjoyed L’Attessa. The other one I really liked when I tried it was Iris Celedon by Armani.
I see that is discontinued and very expensive so will need to pass on that one.
Thumbs up to Encense Mythique!! And now I also have my eye on a sample or decant of L’Attesa. Do report back when you try it!
I will let you know after I try it again😊
You got a couple of Enabler’s Pins for Encens Mythique, didn’t you?
I think maybe only you. LTSG already had it, and I believe Tulipani is the one who I had to give an enabler pin to.
Could have sworn there was someone else. Oh well! No harm, no foul.
Don’t know who else. Lesliesse received a decant, but has not bottle. She does love it.
Encens Mythique is divine!
I started using Lush toothpaste, Smoother, which is a strong clove flavour and very foamy. I love the taste . One thing: it comes in a tub not a tube so you either have to us a ‘ scoop’ to put it in your toothbrush, or you dip your toothbrush in ( which means you’re ‘ double dipping’ essentially, and not so pleasant if other members of your family are also dipping their toothbrushes.
Gaynor gave me a lot of samples the last time we met and I’ve been slowly trying them. An amazing selection, all of scents I haven’t heard of and many of them are beautiful or unexpected. I never, ever buy samples ( shipping to NZ and the exchange rate deter me)but I’m immensely grateful to Gaynor for being such a whizz. Today I’m wearing Beaufort Acrasia which starts as a lemon cologne and ends up a rose amber.
Thanks to Daniel ( and knowing Robin’s soft spot, too) I’m going to explore vetiver perfumes when I go to town.
The toothpaste sounds great – I love clove. Not sure about the shared tub, though.
Happy Vetiver adventures!
I will try that toothpaste! And love that they now have a toothpaste called Plaque Sabbath, ha.
That’s hilarious!
🤣🤣🤣
🤘lol.
💀💀!
It’s cold and rainy here and I am wearing a flannel shirt and Shalimar Millésime Vanilla Planifolia.
Poll Questions:
1. best new scented thing
The fragrance of freshly baked canelés was everywhere in Bordeaux and is really nice. I would buy a perfume that smelled like them.
2. What new scented thing do you hope to discover in July?
Nothing nice, I am staying home and cleaning out the garden shed. There are probably new smells in there of an unpleasant nature.
3. best new fragrance release of 2025 so far?
I am so behind, I don’t think I’ve smelled anything released this year.
4. Share something wonderful with us!
My nephew had been stationed in Iraq for a while, but just before the current bombs started flying he was transferred to a base in Texas. I am pretty happy he’s not in anybody’s crosshairs. Also, books that I read last quarter were pretty awful, but this quarter has had some good ones in it.
Happy your Nephew is here now.
Happy Birthday, Lillyjo! I hope there will be cake for you.
Thank you!
I haven’t decided on cake but there will definitely be chocolate!
Happy, happy birthday, lillyjo! Today’s the day you can have your cake 🎂 and eat it, too! (+ you can have chocolate, too 🥳.) Wishing you all good things in the year ahead!
Happy birthday lillyjo!🎉
I hope your day was wonderful!
Happy Birthday Lillyjo! I bet your children surprised you with special treats.
Thank you!
Yay for Texas, that’s safer than Iraq for sure.
What a relief your nephew is back in the states!
Glad your nephew is back.
My Navy nephew is stateside as well although we never know for sure where he is assigned. He is off-sub for now and that is a good thing.
Yay for Texas and would like to know about your books!
Yeesh. I’ve been getting stomach aches thinking about the US young folks on bases across the ME (not wanting to stray into political territory, but just to say that of course much sleep has been lost over the thousands of other young lives cut short in that region of the world over the past year or so). Wonderful that your nephew is in Texas now!
Good to hear that your nephew is safe in TX.
Candles are dessert heaven to me! So happy for your nephew is back in the States!
I’m not sure about the first question, but leaping ahead to the second question, I’m hoping to get some samples of Godet perfumes. I saw their shop in St Paul de Vence, but we were on a day tour and I didn’t have time for a sniff. From their website, it looks as if they post to New Zealand.
I’ll say Guerlain’s Ambre Samar is my favourite new release for 2025, because I think it’s the only 2025 release that I’ve tried!
Good news – we’ve past the shortest day!
You tried more 2025 new releases than I did!
Oops…then I remembered I tried a few from Dawn Spencer Hurwitz, so never mind, I was cheating 🙂
1. Earlier this year, I used some of the stuff I got from Lush’s Boxing day sale, and among them was Pumpkin Pie soap. It smells nothing like pumpkin spice and it seems like people online hated it. But I really enjoyed it, it was strongly scented with notes of grapefruit and pumpkin puree.
2. In July I will be in NYC, and plan to visit some perfume stores, especially Aedes. I have never been to Aedes in person but I’ve been a patron since before they even had a website. I used to call them and awkwardly try to pronounce all these perfumes name, they were always most kind. So yes, I hope to discover some nice scented stuff there.
3. I’m almost certain I’ve not tried anything released this year.
4. Yesterday I baked Nigella Lawson’s chocolate Guinness cake, and it turned out well! I’m not the most confident baker but the recipe was manageable and I’m very pleased with the results. Can’t say that I can taste any Guinness in the finished product, but the cake is very moist with a complex chocolate flavor.
Oh, sounds like I would have liked Pumpkin Pie soap!
I have not been to Aedes since they moved (again), but it was always a lovely store with beautiful fresh flowers. Have fun!
That cake sounds delicious!
That cake is the only cake I know how to bake. I make it every year for my sweetie’s birthday. He never complains!
Enjoy your NYC trip! Be sure to wear shoes that you can walk long distance in.
1. Best new scented things: some soap and body wash products from Rocky Mountain Soaps in Canada. I bought some as gifts during my recent trip up to Banff and elsewhere in Alberta. There’s a Blood Orange bodywsash I particularly like.
2. I don’t have any particular plans to go anywhere or smell anything in July.
3. Alas I seem to have smelled no new fragrances so far this year! I’ve made fewer trips to the Galleria, the place where I usually try things.
4. I don’t have any terrific news but I did really enjoy visiting a Nepalese restaurant that my friend took me too somewhere along the roadway between Banff and Calgary. I’d never had Nepalese food before and everything was so delicious! Super crispy chicken wings with a special salsa, yak-meat dumplings in some sort of creamy sauce that used cardamom, and incredibly delicious roast eggplant with some unusual seasonings and topped with smashed avocado.
And P.S.: My SOTD is Histoires de Parfums Rare Edition Ambrarem. I was wanting something rich and “stinky” to wear today since I’m not going out anywhere, and this fits the ticket.
Blood Orange body wash sounds tempting!
Hope you enjoyed your day at home yesterday 🙂
Sotd Abel’s Laundry Day
1. Ojai Lavender Room & Linen Spray by PF Czndle Co. A NYT WIRECUTTER top pick I waited months for a restock (or it felt like months). Utterly refreshing snd delightful on a warm night.
2.A peach scent that is free of tuberose, gardenia snd freesia. We’ve had a huge bowl of ripening peaches in the dining room table mesmerizing me every time I walk by -absolutely mouth-watering. I would like to discover that in a summer scent.
3. No idea
4. A bestie send me David Austin roses to cheer me up. The most exquisite rose scent and the rose’s interior looked like a seashell. It made me want to have fragrant fresh flowers in the house all the time.
Happy Birthday again Lillyjo! Hope you are having a glorious weekend of. Elevration and will tell us all about it!
Thank you!
Phlur just put out a body mist called Peach Skin. I haven’t tried it but it might be worth a sniff.
Thanks for the suggestion Lillyjo but Peach Akin has freesia in it so I have to pass.
I just tried it. Was killing time at a shopping center waiting for an appt and wandered into what must be the tiniest Sephora ever. Naturally, I was only curious about the perfume offerings. The Peach Skin Phlur was the best new thing I tested. It smells “cheap” but weirdly in a good way. Very juicy peach.
1. The Nicolaï Muguet.
2. A lavender candle that smells as good as Nicolaï’s Lavande Pays.
3. See 1. (to be honest, it’s the only 2025 release I have tried)
4. I have received quite a lot of bad news this year, but the really good news is that my contract got extended by another year.
I’m glad that you have had at least that one piece of good news. Let’s hope there’s more on the way!
I’m glad your contract was renewed. Have a happy weekend.
#4 is great news, congrats!!
Congratulations on getting your contract extended!
Thank you again everyone for your kind words Friday, it means a lot.😊
I’m continuing with the beachy theme this weekend and using up my sample of Wavechild by Room 1015. I like this one, and I think it’s the first and maybe only(?) perfume I’ve tried with a watermelon note. We are under a heat advisory this weekend with temps in the 90s and heat indexes over 100. No beaches for me, I’m staying in the AC and getting some household projects done.
I love a good poll, but I haven’t tried many new releases this year.
1. I’m not sure
2. I’d like to sniff Glossier’s new body sprays
3. I’m not sure. I was going to say the Frederic Malle collaboration with Acne studios, but I see that was from last year.
4. My mom (and I joined also) had her zoom follow up with her oncologist last week and based on the path report from her lumpectomy and her genetic testing (which all came back negative) she will only need hormone therapy for the next few years.👏 We knew that chemo was extremely unlikely, but there was a possibility she would need radiation. The genetic testing result also has the trickle down effect of being good news for myself and my two daughters.🎉
That is excellent news!
Oh, that’s definitely good news. It’s amazing how they can use that genetic testing these days (my aunt had it too, with a similarly good outcome).
Yay for your #4! I’m relieved for you and all your loved ones. 🙂
Great news about your mom, and the following generations!
Great news for your Mom!
Such good news for your family. What a relief.
Great news!
Glad for the good news!
Yay!!
Whew! Just whew. Sending hugs.
Most excellent news about your Mom!
Sooo delighted about your mom’s good health news!
sotd = Hiris + Iris Ukiyoe
It works! A little weird maybe, but I’m going with it in my quest to see what layers well with Hiris.
I have an old blue bottle of Hiris, and it’s a monolith in my perfume cupboard. I enjoy it so much on its own, and layering it is a fun challenge. That’s my #4 for the poll I guess.
Love reading everyone’s thoughts, you fragrant folks are an inspiration.
I am pretty sure I have both … may try this at some point in the future!
So Hiris might work well with something very green, but not sure what, or with something to emphasize the neroli in the opening? Maybe an orange blossom?
Can also see it elevating a rosewater-ish sort of scent.
Hi NST, happy Sunday 🌹
Sotd is Donna Karan Cashmere Mist edt. I usually save this for appointments as it is soft but it smells so good today that I must wear it more often. Anyone in the market for a pretty jasmine with a soft woodsy base, you might try this.
1. The Jergens body butters in Citrus and Sandalwood. Thanks Kris!
2. Maybe the rose version.
3. Haven’t tried anything yet.
4. My mom’s caretaker is back on the job and I’m off duty today! Thank you all for your kind comments on Friday, they made me feel better ❤️
Many happy returns, lillyjo! Hope your weekend involves relaxation, fun, and cake! 😊
Yay for a day off!
Thank you for the Birthday wishes! 🥰
Enjoy your day off. I hope you can spend the who,r day relaxing.
Glad you like the body butters. I just happen to be wearing the citrus one today. Goes great with Eau des Merveilles.
😳 Goes great with Eau des Merveilles?
Hmmmm, it’s always ok to have more body butter …
This is true and I have used the Jergens citrus for a while, but then a sandalwood and a rose came up. I couldn’t find them anywhere in town, but were quite inexpensive on Amazon.
Glad to hear that your Mom’s caretaker is feeling better now!
Today is my daughters Birthday and mine was yesterday. We have been out and about shopping this weekend. She requested an Oreo Birthday cake, so that is our sweet treat.
I honestly haven’t found anything to be super excited for fragrance wise this year. I did try and liked the SaltAir body products. I tried the grapefruit and will probably get the orange one at some point.
I was gifted an ebay gift card from my boss and coworker’s. I am excited to search around for a perfume to use it on.
Yesterday I wore Mugler Aura. Today I am wearing Fresh cut Lilacs from BBW.
Happy birthday Lillyjo ( and to your daughter, too). I hope you have a happy year!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday to you and your daughter! I hope you can find a fun fragrance in your search.
Thank you!
Mother-daughter shopping is the best! Happy Birthday to both of you. And inquiring minds will want to know what you did with the eBay birthday money!
Thank you! I will report back for sure.
Happy birthday to you both! If you type “devotion body cream” on the ebay search bar, there’s a well-rated u.s. seller who has it for $74.95…just saying.
Thanks for the suggestion!
happiest of birthdays to you both! My Mom and I are a few days apart on the birthday calendar, it’s a special thing for sure.💕
Thank you!
Love the mother/daughter combo birthday. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞 that you will find something(s) for you and/or daughter!
Thank you!
Happy birthday to you and your daughter! Hope the cake is delicious!
Thank you! It was delicious! It was an Oreo ice cream cake.
Yay for cake and gift certificate!! Have fun finding the right perfume.
I will. Thanks!
Happy birthday to you both!
Thank you!
Best birthday wishes to you and your daughter🧡! What a fabulous birthday gift for you.
Thank you!
Happy belated birthday, lillyjo! Good luck finding a fun perfume purchase on eBay.
Thank you!
Belated birthday wishes to you and your daughter! Hope you find something awesome on eBay.
Happy birthday to you both yet again! How terrific to have cake and perfume shopping fueled by a gift card! Very happy to hear it lillyjo!
I’m in several sprays of Yardley Iris. This bottle is on my tray to “finish” up this year. I should be spraying it more as there’s a few scents including Heure Exquise and Lush Smugglers Soul joining it. There’s no pressure to finish them; I’m just seeing how quickly I can get one done. I haven’t been sampling anything this year, still on a low or no buy; I’m trying to use what I have instead.
The one tv show I really enjoyed was The Pitt with Noah Wylie. I watched ER faithfully years ago, but not really any other medical shows since. I did end up binge-watching The Pitt after seeing him interviewed and now can’t wait for next season. The season is 1 full days rotation, hour by hour. Next season is supposed to be the day of July 4th.
I definitely plan to watch it since I was at Pitt for my Ph.D. studies. It was a bit disappointing to hear they’re now filming in LA. (Or did they always?)
I believe they filmed in both locations for the 1st season as well.
Calypso, you went to Pitt? My whole family is originally from Pittsburgh, and Pitt has a special place in our hearts as my Mom attended.
I have used Yardley Iris as a nice spritz on clean sheets. It’s very nice. 💜
Oh, very good idea! Thanks tiffanie!
I was happy to see Noah in a new show. I haven’t watched it yet though.
He’s really good! Let me know if you watch it.
The Pitt was sooo good, eventhough it was almost painfully stressful for me to watch!
Yes! Seriously. I held my breath a few times but it was good that there was also humor in as well. I really liked Whitaker, especially with what happens with his scrubs. I think I may have to rewatch it!
I still miss ER after all these years. I’ll have to find this show.
SOTD = Profumum Roma Dulcis in Fundo
Vanilla! Calling she-ra … older perfume but oh so good, if you haven’t tried it yet!
The poll:
1. ❌
2. ❌
3. ❌
4. My cousin’s wife finally retired! It’s been a long time in coming. She was supposed to retire 3 years ago and she wasn’t able to due to various reasons (not financial). Anyway, she had around 90 people at her place yesterday (family, pickleball friends, church people) WITHOUT any of her co-workers; if she did, she would have well over 150. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a separate shindig for the colleagues! She had it catered and the main caterer is a Food Network Star. Of course we got to talking and I asked her if she knew Anne Burrell. She did and really, that was the end of that! Still waiting for the results of the autopsy.
That party seems exciting!
Congratulations to her!
Thanks!
Does your cousin’s wife have any post-retirement plans?
They already bought a house down the shore. They will be cleaning up what they have right now, although not sure of when they are actually moving.
I’m starting orange blossom week with the big guns — Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger! Beat that if you can. 😉
1. BioFresh Rose of Bulgaria Soap — perfect if you want a straightforward rose scent, no frills, and it cost under $3. Also, Korres Lilac Body Lotion.
4. Mom and I opened caprese salad season yesterday. A client, before heading out on their annual leave, told me: “I trust you more than anyone, so I’m assigning most of the work to you.”
What a nice thing for your #4!
That was quite the client compliment! Good job!
Nobody can beat it!
and nothing can beat caprese season.
As usual, a magnificent post from Glannys! What a compliment from your client! Now I’m jonesing for some basil after the caprese comments.
Basil CP next week!
And I have the perfect fragrance to wear- IA How to Say Bicycle in French!
And thanks for always writing something nice to me, BTW.
I think you inspire all NST imo!
Yay for orange blossom! I have enough for the week. In looking at the Fragrantica list for orange blossom, none of my scents were listed, but looking at them individually orange blossom is listed in the notes. Anyway, I’m wearing Gabrielle Essence for the hottest day of this week, according to the local weather folks. I have to be out in it all afternoon, but I’m just remembering how cold it was in February and it’s hard to complain about the heat. I manage, though 😉
I’m with you ringthing. I will take a heatwave over the bitter cold any day.
You’re smelling great in Gabrielle Essence!
The real feel today is 93, and hotter tomorrow. I’ll be complaining for sure 😆
Stay hydrated!
On day 2 of temps being in the 90’s and besides hot, it’s humid. Yesterday, I discovered Anne with an E on Netflix. It’s a little more of an adult type of Anne of Green Gables. It’s kind of strange though. I read the Anne of Green Gables series in middle school and saw the Megan Fellows version. The Charlie Sheen version is garbage. So I am intrigued with this one.
Some how, I won the Perfume Posse give a Headspace Rose perfume and that is on it’s way.
Wearing no 19 edt today.
Fun win!
Lucky you! Let us know how it smells. I was curious about it.
Congrats on your Perfume Posse win!
In Exit the King this morning.
1. What’s the best new scented thing . . . Not new at all! But I enjoy my bottle of Flying Fox in the shower each morning. As for perfumes, there were some 2024 releases at the Nicolai shop in Paris that I really loved but forgot to buy because the gentleman working there on our return visit was so rude. I had planned on purchasing several FBs but just wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. Forgotten were Saint-Honoré and Macaron Bourbon. Both are classed as gourmands, which I generally do not like. But those two were lovely. The two that got away.
2. No clue.
3. Missed too many to say.
4. I am getting three tattoos, hopefully at the end of the month. I am so far tattoo-free, but at the distinguished age of 58, almost 59, I believe the time has come. 😉 To honor my husband and two sons, I am getting three flowers tattooed on the inside of my forearm, scented flowers of course. Neroli, rose, and lavender. Anyway, that is my plan. 🧡
Have you always wanted a tattoo? I am also tattoo free.
no ink here either, and now I’m intrigued 🤔
Don’t have any tats either. But I am seriously thinking about getting another earlobe piercing.
Keep us posted!
I got one in 2023, and was interested that I’d never considered how much longer it takes an ear piercing to heal when you’re old! It did heal fine though, and after nearly a lifetime of having 3 piercings now I have 4, so I’m finally evened out.
My only ear piercing seemed to take forever to heal, and I was a teen then. Good to know I might be dealing with it for a while.
Just realized the previous sentence sounds like I might have other piercings, which is not the case. I’m boring, LOL.
The main thing for me was how long I had to wear an earring 24/7…it was a loooong time, longer than they said.
Nope. I was of the mindset ‘how would I feel about the tattoos when I got old?’ Well, I’m knocking on the door of old and, frankly, I now think all that hooey about tattoos being unbecoming on older women is just sexist. So, for the last several years I’ve been thinking about what I would want. And about a year ago it came to me that I want something to remind me of my family–three objects. But only recently did I think of scented flowers. Then it clicked. That’s just me though. To each her own! I have a group of women friends who get together every few months. We are all roughly the same age. Some of the women got matching tats with their daughters or have other memorable and important events tied to tattoos, and others are ink free. Only one keeps demanding, ‘But how will it be when you get old?’ LOL. I can only hope so.
Popping by to say that I’m feeling elegant this morning in Chanel’s 1932.
Elegant and lovely! 💜
sotd = Eau des Merveilles
because I’m predictable like that. 😃 Yay for Merveilles!
I have a regular spray bottle and a mini splash bottle. Used the mini today. EdM feels more restrained and close to the skin this way. I like it.
Join you in yay for Merveilles 🙂
The heat wave here has broken! Today’s high temp was a lovely 73 degrees F, and it felt wonderful. Got a couple more days of this and then summer heat returns.
I’ve had a certain Black Sabbath song on my mind for a couple of days. Can’t say much more than that, b/c it will be political.
SOTD = back to wearing Smell Bent St. Tropez Dispenser. I was alternating between it and Smell Bent Pepper Ylang over the weekend.
PS. I guess the heat wave breaking is my #4 for the poll. Got nothing for the other 3 items.
Amending my previous comment to add that I did encounter 2 “new to me” perfumes earlier this year I have enjoyed very much: Encens Mythique and Zara Vetiver Pamplemousse. So that’s my answer for Question #1.
Thank you for not getting political, and boy am I jealous of your weather. Our heat index today was 105.
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwww. That heat index is nasty.
Hopefully, when the cooler weather moves out, the East Coast will get some.
