PSA: the splitmeet is coming up on the 26th of this month.
Meanwhile, our usual open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the fragrance you wish somebody would split (or you're thinking of splitting), whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Happy Saturday NST! Sotd Happy Heart in “cousins” to Kris’s Happy from yesterday until she and Mr K arrive back home safely.
Touring recovery facilities today for Auntie in Brentwood and Santa Monica sections of Los Angeles with Mr Engineer kindly chauffeuring before lunch on the ocean. (Not our worst outing by far, but waaay down the list.)
Wishing all a gorgeous Saturday with soothing, uplifting fragrance surrounding you!
Happy Saturday back, LesLiesse.
🤗
Hope you found someplace nice and had a lovely lunch 🙂
Yes we did and the third place we checked out was the best by far for my aunt. We then went British and had fish and chips with gin gimlets one block from the ocean. It was a gray day. My first time with a few hours off since March 16th!
So glad you got to relax at last!
🤗
Oh, that sounds fun, and I love a gin cocktail….
🍸🍸
Happy Saturday and yay for lunch on the ocean after the last couple weeks you’ve had! 🌊
Thank you She-ra! I really pushed myself hard. One night I felt like I was asleep before my head actually hit the pillow. Today I kept smelling my wrists and luxuriating in the scent of spring and renewal.
Glad to hear that you found a good place for your Aunt. It’s a damn difficult task.
Happy Saturday!🌞 I’m in 10 Corso Como. I’m a little nervous this one is no longer in production, does anyone know? It’s not on Luckyscent’s website anymore. I guess I could email them. I do see bottles on evilbay. I’m tempted to get a back up.
Today is Record Store Day! I talked my son into going with me and we were up and out of bed before the sun. We stood in line for 4 hours😵💫, but we both got what we went for. I heard someone say this is the warmest weather we’ve had for RSD in 4 years. Some years it’s raining or snowing, but today was sunny with blue skies. I layered up and stayed relatively warm. Especially once the sun came up.
You smell great, and I find myself wondering if 10CC has fallen victim to the on-again-off-again tariff regime. Hopefully a temporary thing.
Thanks!
I’m always happy when my husband finds a record store in a town or city we are traveling to. He will spend hours in it while I can freely do my own shopping. I’m much more content shopping on my own. Of course, there is always the risk of having to come home with more vinyl than we really need.
Enjoy your record store day!
Thanks!
Yeah, it’s fun to sort through used vinyl at the record shop.
Same here. Mr. allo loves vinyl and today he got an Ella Fitzgerald Sings Cole Porter album today and we’re listening to it right now.
“It’s delightful, it’s delicious, it’s delectable, it’s delerious…it’s delovely.”
Ooh, didn’t realize Record Store Day was today! That said, we generally tend towards vintage when we’re in record stores, though I know a number of artists who’ve done special releases for Record Store Day. Hmm…may need to head up to Neptoon.
I have quite a bit of vintage also. Yes, one of those special releases is what made me go. The Cure released a special 40th anniversary picture disc of The Head on the Door, and I absolutely had to have it!🤩
Oooh, that one makes sense! Head on the Door would have been recorded for vinyl in the first place, so meets our general vinyl criterion. LOVE the Cure.
Madtowngirl, my youngest sister is in Milan right now. I asked her to get me a bottle of 10 Corso Como from their boutique, but unfortunately the sales girl told her that it hasn’t been in production for a while. She didn’t know if it will be eventually be back. I am so sad because I only have a bit left in my bottle and it is a big favorite.
Aaaah!😱 Thanks for the insider info pl67! That IS sad, I’m down to my last 15ish mls and it’s one that I love also.
Radio is playing all vinyl 🙂
I love this!🤘😍
What did you get?
It’s 56 here but the sun with no wind makes it feel like 70.
I got The Cure’s The Head on the Door special 40th anniversary release and The Replacements’ Tim.
Scent Split appears to have a FB in stock for $120. SS is legit and I have bought many samples from them. If you google and/or subscribe for their emails you should get a 10% code too…to my memory they do not charge tax. Ehaeheh I am full of helpful, enabling info. 😉
Done! Yes, I have ordered samples from them too and was able to use a 12% vip discount code. Thanks She-ra!!
(Although between the new vinyl, lattes for my son and I, and now perfume, I have been bad today.😬)
Yay…most welcome! Think of it as helping the economy. 😇 And it appears to be discontinued so you really had no choice. Amor Fati…also the name of the White Lotus season finale. 😆
Oh dear. Missed that you made the same suggestion🧡
I just double-checked! Yup. You did a 10CC split in 2020 and turned my head (nose)! I subsequently bought a FB from Luckyscent, which had such a dodgy sprayer—very leaky– that I sent it back. They sent me a second bottle and it too had a dodgy sprayer. This one I kept but decanted. I lost probably 20 percent of the perfume as it leaked and dripped. My room smelled amazing, though. I note that Scent Split is selling 100ml bottles at a fair price (not splits!). If you make the purchase and the sprayer is a dud, just know that Luckyscent’s stock had the same issue.
Love this one too!
SOTM is Telegrama, from the sample vial. I was afraid I had jinxed my FB purchase of it by even mentioning that I had located what appeared to be the last bottle on earth — the post office told me it had been delivered to a lockbox, but when I went out to get it there was no lockbox key in our mailbox. Sigh. But it all turned out okay, as our very nice across-the-street neighbor (to whom our mail carrier mistakenly delivered said key) left the package on our front porch this morning. Phew! Anyway, I smell posh this morning.
All’s well that ends well. I’m glad you got your bottle!
Ha, I am just today trying to find the neighbor that got my delivery this morning (not perfume, but want it anyway). Fingers crossed I have your good luck!
AND just as I finished typing that the doorbell rang. Someone from several streets over brought me my package, yay.
Oh yay! Several streets away is quite the error … thank goodness for honest neighbors. 🙂
It was at least the same house number???
And we are both lucky to have good neighbors!
Thank goodness for great neighbors! We’ve gotten into the habit of giving our delivery folks snacks and fluids, they remember us and go the extra mile to get our package to the right spot.
Yay for good neighbors!
Yay for perfume package received! I love getting packages with perfume but hate all other mail. eheheh funny how that is. Denmark is going to stop delivery letters and I am all for that.
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ckg8jllq283o
Glad to hear that everyone got their wayward packages!
Happy Saturday… 🙂
Trialing (again) Confetto.
Last I tried this was years ago, and it still doesn’t work for me. This is a skin scent, and currently smells like plastic baby head. Not what I enjoy smelling like! I’ll give it the day to see how it develops.
Still looking for that perfect almond scented perfume.
I imagine an almond/floral would be up my alley… more on the green side. Any suggestions?
Heeley l’Amandière, green almond, Réminiscence Héliotrope, more gourmand, AdP Mandorlo Di Sicilia, more citrussy and anis.
Aurora’s suggestions look good. Last night I got an email from Fumerie Parfumerie announcing the availability of Une Nuit Nomade’s Chemin d’Amande, described as a not too sweet gourmand. I promptly stuck a sample in my cart, but have yet to pull the trigger.
I got their email and want to that one too! I never tried their first 3 extraits though should probably start there.
I had trouble with that one too. Love the concept, just not the scent on me. It smelled like I was wearing stale Jordan almonds.
Ew! Yuck to that. I got the email too and found all the descriptions a bit silly, so did not get a yen for anything. (Which is fine.)
I’m in PdN Pavlova today, because a sample came in the Scentrique discovery set this month (though I didn’t need one…I bought the 15 ml bottle in Paris).
Not sure if anyone saw this Guardian article today: https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2025/apr/12/perfume-brands-fighting-a-lost-cause-against-cheap-dupes-say-lawyers. Interesting about the legal side of things, but the implication that cheap dupes have never existed is clearly from a Gen Z or Millennial mindset. Uh, Primo, anyone? Also, plenty of stores in Greece & Turkey?
Curious whether anyone here has experience travelling as a solo older woman in Morocco. (Pretty sure there’s someone here who’s done it, just not remembering who off the top of my head.) I’m thinking about it, but I’ve seen a bunch of posts / articles saying not to. That said, they all seem to be written by younger women, and I’m suspecting that maybe older women might be more invisible or left alone.
Sharing a recent article, focus is more on “unplugged, no guide book”, but solo female traveler in Morocco and some tips: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/09/travel/casablanca-without-a-phone-digital-detox.html?unlocked_article_code=1._E4.TP4d.EAUWzRh8Gr_J&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
I went to Morocco alone and had no problems, but I stuck to the cities. In some Muslim countries without a male partner I have had difficulty receiving information from officials, for example airline delays.
Thanks, both! Yes, I think I’d be in the cities; I had thought about a trip out to Ouarzazate and the Sahara but may save that for later.
Hi everyone 😊
It’s a beautiful sunny day with no wind at last! It was beautiful and sunny yesterday too but with a piercing cold wind.
Today I’m wearing Chanel Allure edt, which I like for spring. This is a scent I will crave when I haven’t worn it in a while.
Question about perfume: has anyone tried Chanel Gabrielle and Gabrielle Essence, and how do they compare? I’m looking for pretty summer citrus and I like Gabrielle a lot, but maybe I’d like the Essence even more?
You do smell like spring ringthing!
I read your post while I was at the Mall. I went to Macy’s to compare the Gabrielles but the original had gone off. I tested the Essence and Gabrielle L’Eau. I think they are all very similar but from memory, I found the original to be sharper than the other 2. All are pretty and perfect for Spring. I’m so tempted to get L’Eau during the sephora sale but haven’t quite talked myself into it yet.
Ooh I forgot there’s a L’Eau too! Thank you for the info lillyjo! I’ve got a line on a partial bottle of the original but I probably should go sniffing first.
I have tried all three and have owned the original and Essence and loved both of them. I didn’t see a huge difference. Unlike Lillyjo, I did not like L’Eau at all. There is some note in there that I have smelled in other perfumes that didn’t work for me. Glad others like it.
Thank you for your input Kris. I have a decent sample of OG and I really like it. Interesting that you didn’t like L’Eau, I wonder what the note is.
I’m thinking it might be the red berries in L’eau.
Hello from Malta!
My sister-in-law and I have had a few busy days in Rome, I hope everyone is well, and I’m looking forward to catching up on your comments.
We arrived in Malta this morning, and I’ve already bought a souvenir perfume. Fragrantica had an article a few weeks ago about a Maltese perfumer, Stephen Cordina. We visited his lovely little shop and made some impulse buys.
I also made an impulse buy on the way, Guerlain’s new Absolus Allegoria, Ambre Samar. It was all over the duty free in Dubai. It’s a lovely light amber and the red bottle is an added bonus.
Yay, so glad you are there and already buying perfume! Hope Rome was wonderful.
Enjoy your trip and yay for souvenir perfume! The Ambre Samar looks good and love the red bottle…paging hajusuuri!!! ❗️;)
Malta! My brother-in-law was there recently and loved it! Someday…
I am in Comme des Garcons Ouarzazate. Starting today I will wear incense perfumes until Easter Sunday.
It has been raining cats and dogs here since last night and it is still uncomfortably cold and windy. It looks like we will be back to the upper 50s next week. Fingers crossed!
I just have a bit of white chocolate liqueur and brie cheese to warm up and cheer up. So many cloudy and rainy days is taking a toll on me.
Happy weekend! 🌻
It’s a beautiful day here. Hopefully it’s heading your way.
I hope so! 🤞🏻
Wishing you sun🌼
Thank you, Aurora! 🌞
Hope you get some sun very soon! ☀️
🌞
Beautiful perfume. I bought that for my husband so I could wear it!
Ouarzazate is a great perfume! The incense series from CdG is fantastic. I love all of them, especially Avignon.
I’m still trying to send some sun and warmth out to NJ and NY…
SOTD = Memo Paris Sintra
Seriously SO GOOD! I basically started the CP today as I think I may have enough destination (however way one defines it) to last me through Friday. We’ll see.
https://www.instagram.com/p/DIW8uO8x4OR/?igsh=MXJuN2RyeHU1d3BzNg==
In other news, it’s another day of rainy and cold weather. I don’t mind the cold but the rain … maybe this will be enough for NJ to avoid “wildfires” with the ground saturated as it is…
Is Sintra the one that is similar to Love don’t be shy?
Yes! I would group this along with Parfums de Marly Oriana and one of the Ariana Grande perfumes.
Mon Precieux Nectar, a harbinger of spring scent! Enjoy the dprininrss of spring!
Meredifay, I don’t know how I missed your comment the other day…would have asked what is dprininrss? that does not look like any dictation mistake I can think of!
LOL! Some weird typo-I don’t remember what zI ment to say!
Still enjoying yesterday’s Angel on my sweater. The long drydown is nicely mellow and fits my mood. Did a bit of tidying up work and got my pansies planted. Full disclosure: I feel lazy! 🥱
Tidying up twins. Nothing wrong with lazy.
ITA with you about the long drydown of Angel. 🥰
22C today and sunny, chose Angel Innocent today as much for it’s beautiful citrus as for its tonka sweetness, tonight bpal Lust Bonbon, Ylang, cocoa, red musk, myrrh and patchouli, the top is all chocolate floral, very pleasant, not absurdly gourmand and the patch is very nice in the drydown, it’s slightly dusty too.
I am jealous, we were 44F, grey & drizzly. Your bpal sounds great!
Hope you’re having better weather today Robin, it’s cooler and cloudier here today. Yes, that BPAL was lovely, sometimes they are a little bit too literal for my taste but this one had complexity, gourmand but floral.
Better yesterday and even better today, thanks Aurora!
Gosh Aurora, you smell divine!
Merci Leslie, hope you don’t have too much to do today and that you can relax. Well done for evaluating the recovery facilities for your aunt and choosing the best one. Hope the transition will go smoothly.
It’s a gray chilly day here and I have declared it Lounge-on-the-Sofas-ALL-DAY Day! Sotd Abel’s Pause, because that’s what we’re doing.
I’ve got homemade soup in the frog for lunch and leftover salmon for dinner. Goal: burn as few calories as possible moving 😆
22C and sunny is just about perfect.
Sampling Annabel’s Birthday Cake today and notes are below…tried this when it first came out but it didn’t leave a big impression. Getting a lot of heliotrope and rose in the opening…quite nice so far.
Notes: Heliotrope, Lemon sugar, Balloons, Tuberose Frosting, Candied Rose Petals, Cake Fresh-out-the-oven, Honeycomb, Roasted Tonka, Cocoa Absolute.
Huh, can’t decide if that sounds appealing or not. FBW in the end?
Not FBW in the end…it’s more floral than gourmand to me even though it’s on the sweet side.
Gotcha.
I’m intrigued- balloons? Don’t they smell like rubber? What am I missing She-ra? Otherwise, deliciously festive notes to me.
It pulls more floral for me though I do get some of the balloon/latex note. Enjoyable but ultimately not FBW for me.
FBW???
Full bottle worthy
I’ve been sampling a lot of masculine and unisex perfumes these days in search for a present for my boyfriend (I’ve been reading Kevin’s reviews here for inspiration). At the end I bought Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa. I think it’s a great cologne. I am sure I’ll be borrowing it sometimes 😊
Yay for something you can borrow! Hope he loves it.
So I have a big reveal my friends— I am, hopefully, ostensibly, if all systems remain go— visiting l’Osmotheque the week after next. It’s been a journey just getting the appointment, which I will happily share with you when we get back. I am also meeting another fabby NSTer in Paris for lunch, so very excited all around. The trip is a gift from my mother. A year or so ago we had a conversation about things we hoped we could do in our lifetimes. I mentioned l’Osmotheque (little did I know it was more akin to Sir Hillary dreaming of summiting Mt. Everest—but the story of how I managed it is for another time) and she remembered. It was a huge gift and a huge surprise.
I had a leetle panic last week as I came down with COVID while in South Carolina and was worried I’d lose my sense of smell. So far, so good though. And with help from Paxlovid, I tested negative this morning.
In less dramatic news 😉, I’m wearing Aromatics Elixir today. It is one of the newer formulas. No longer makes me swoon, but am enjoying a little nose nostalgia.
How exciting!
I’m glad you are feeling better!
Oh my goodness, last minute covid too! So glad it did not last, and you are getting your dream trip.
O/F sooo glad you’re over your Covid and didn’t have any olfactory complications! I kept wanting to to turn to fragrance for solace when I was sick and I couldn’t smell anything. Very glad that didn’t happen to you!
Glad you were able to kick the “ick” to the curb. Wow, what a fabulous trip, enjoy every moment!
What an amazing opportunity! Glad the nose is still working (knocking on wood).
Such great news (minus Covid of course). And what a lovely gesture from your mother. I hope you’ll have a wonderful trip!
That’s so exciting! The trip, not your bout of the plague. Looking forward to reading about it.
So happy for you, exciting time ahead, what a wonderful mother.
What great news! I’ll look forward to hearing all about your visit at l’Osmotheque!
Enjoy the the l’osmotheque and wish you a speedy recovery!
What an adventure! How exciting and how nice a gift! yay Mom! Can’t wait to hear all about it.
That’s great news. What a fantastic gift and experience
Amazing trip coming up for you! Enjoy!
Glad that you kicked COVID to the curb without any nasty, long term effects.
Just popping in to say thank you all for your wonderful support during our journey home. I didn’t finish reading all of them until tonight so some of you didn’t get a response from me, but I did read them all now. We are only five hours from home so will get there tomorrow. Both of us are exhausted and getting on each other’s nerves, but we will be okay. At least our colds are a little better. Hopefully, we will get some answers Monday to find out what’s going on with my husband’s back. Thanks again!
I’m so glad you’re close to home and that your colds are better. Fingers crossed for some answers that can give your husband relief and a path to continued healing💕
Yes, hopefully we will find something out tomorrow. And we are home now!
Yay, so glad you are back home.
Thanks!
Glad you’re nearing home!
We made it!
It’s a great feeling to be close to home! When we drove back from Florida a few years back, I was so happy to be see a mileage sign to a familiar town (it was a favorite vacation spot we’d also frequent). I was so homesick that I took a picture of the sign as we drove by (as a reminder that we’re almost home).
I hope your hubby gets some answers shortly and is feeling better.
That’s funny. I love going places, but it is nice to see home again.
We will get back to someone in orthopedics again tomorrow to find out answers.
Very glad to know you’re almost home Kris! Thanks for taking time to update us! Smooth sailing for your last trip leg!
We got here. Thank you.
🎉🤗
Hang in there, Kris!!
I am hanging – by a thread- I think😉
Sending get well wishes to him
Thanks so much!
I hope you are home now and able to rest before any Doctor visits tomorrow.
That is exactly what we did!
Hope you are home and settled soon.
Glad to hear that you are back home now.
Thank you.
I’m enjoying two spring perfumes given to me for Valentine’s Day and our anniversary by my nice husband: Rosarine and Cavatina, both by Parfums Dusita. They center two of my favorite flowers, roses and lilies of the valley. (My other top three flower is the daffodil, but there are very few fragrances centered on that. Yes, I have Ostara and love it!).
What nice presents! I was just looking up Roserine the other day.
It’s really lovely! It starts out as a fruity rose, then it becomes very floral, then the base is a warm, woody rose. It lasts for hours, too.
Hi everyone.. I am here to ask for some advice.
I have a cousin who has become a hoarder. She hasn’t let me in her house for almost 10 years but she has discussed the problem with me. At certain points I have offered to help her clean but she has always declined. She hoards food and “antiques” that she says she is going to resell ( she isn’t)
Anyway she recently asked me if I would come over and bring boxes out to her porch so she can go through them. Now though her house is infested with mice and other bugs and I don’t think I can do it. I can’t pay for a service ( although I believe she could financially) any tips on what I could say without alienating her to look into a service? Or any other advice?
Thanks for listening!
My sotd is the last of my BBW Black Cherry Merlot.
I know it’s a very emotional situation. I’ve watched a few episodes of Hoarders so it’s difficult to know what to say without maybe triggering someone. It sounds like she’s ready if she’s asked you to help. Maybe start with a cleaning company or organizer type person who specializes in the behavior to see if they can help.
Thanks Gail. I did look up some cleaning companies. I’m going to have to ask her if she would be willing to pay for one.
First, well done for having kept channels of communication going with your cousin. Perhaps tell her to make the start she seems ready for, I think the food hoarding is especially worrying and unsanitary, could you offer to stop by and offer moral support and a few empty, solid cardboard boxes and let her know you want to help but are spooked by the rodents and bugs? While she is working sorting perishables out take this opportunity to suggest professional help, she might be more ready to listen when she realizes the scale of the problem she faces by having made a start.
Hope this helps you a little bit. Good luck Lillyjo!
Thanks Aurora. Yes it is the food that I think is creating a real problem to the house with the rodents.
I think she’s beyond the “self-help” advice and I agree with others that a professional housecleaning is in order. I have seen episodes of Hoarders and many things could trigger. I am not relating this to Alcoholics Anonymous but the first step is key and it looks like she’s gotten to the acknowledgement part.
I think you are right. I’m going to see if she is willing to explore some professional help options.
Gosh lillyjo this is a tough case for you to solve when your own personal life is already full with family and work! Bless you for encouraging her and helping her undertake this road to wellness! 🤗🤗🤗
Thank you LesLiesse.
It’s nice your cousin has reached out . I think you need to set boundaries about what you are prepared to help her with so you do not get overwhelmed or feel used.
For example:
1. Tell her you want to help but need her to deal with the rodent situation and dispose of food first. Then you will help with “ clean” refuse ( clothing, hard rubbish, etc.”
2. Provide an indication of how many hours of your free time you will give her. Working a whole day could be overwhelming so tell her you can help between 10 and 12, and then reward both you and your cousin with a cheap lunch out ( split the bill). You can use the lunch to talk through what you have done, what needs to still be done etc. and she will feel your support.
3. Tackle one room at a time rather than the entire house ( once food/ pest is taken care of)
3. Do not make her ‘ problem’ your own. You can offer support but it is not up to you to ‘ fix’ it. She can organise rubbish skip, pest control etc and you can provide encouragement without taking on an extra burden
4. Could other family members also help, to spread the load…especially with large, heavy items
5. Step back if it is too much.
Great suggestions for Lillyjo!
Thank you Kanuka.
These are great suggestions. She has people willing to get a dumpster and toss things but she hasn’t taken them up on it yet.
Excellent ideas Kanuka, especially about lillyjo’s setting boundaries to not take on too much! I’ve only known her a few months, but she is a generous giver of time and attention!
Best of luck with your cousin and her situation lillyjo. The only advice I have is to take care of yourself as well. Hugs.
Yes, Lillyjo please take care of yourself. You have lots on your plate too.
Offering this in case it might be of some help:
My dad has hoarding tendencies that my mom has works hard to contain (“his stuff” as opposed to “their stuff” is allowed only in his home office, and she clears out food, used dishes, etc., while he out of the house. It is a constant job of watching that things don’t get out of control).
One approach that has helped A LOT is for my sister and I to ask every time we are at their house: “Hey Dad, can I have this thing? I like/need it.” He will usually let us take whatever it is, I think because in his mind he has been saving it in case someone needs it, and it is now fulfilling that purpose rather than being thrown away. I also suspect he knows on some deeper level that 99% of the things we take are thrown away as soon we get home, but so long as we all keep up the farce, he doesn’t have to confront it.
If you think your cousin might respond to this approach, I’d bet you could get her to part with at least some of the furniture by saying, oh so-and-so has a kid/friend moving into a new place and they would love to have something just like this. Or even putting some items up on her Local Facebook Free Items list, if you think she’d let strangers have them.
Hugs to you and your cousin. It is a difficult mental state to be in and to get through to. Her asking for help is a big step and I hope it sets her on a path to better health.
Thanks Vee.
A friend of mine actually offered to buy some of her items ( which are almost all old kitchen items like plates, pots and pans etc..) but she declined saying once she gets organized she will sell them. She just isn’t ready to part with anything. Last year she offered me a skillet and then 2 days later called and asked me to return it.
Layering blackberry and bay and orange marmalade by JM for Palm Sunday.
Its a nice spring day-but the sun is playing peek-a-boo
Reading and tea for the rest of the day
Fragrant hugs to those who need them
I read too fast and thought you were reading tea leaves today! Lol.
Also your perfume layering sounds great!
I can maybe read tea leaves like they do Turkish Coffee… lol
That sounds like a nice pairing.
I started the day in a splash of vintage Karl Lagerfeld aftershave. It’s remarkably good, just short lasting, of course.
We’re going for a 10+ mile walk today to get ready for a walking trip in the UK this summer. I’m going to bring samples of this and that to keep the walk interesting💃☀️
10 miles!… I don’t even want to drive 10 miles. Lol. Go You!
LOL. I’m with you!
I hear you! We just got back from the walk and it was okay but we’re double checking that we can get a taxi or take a bus if we get tired after a few days of walking in a row😅
Happy to see someone else liking a splash of aftershave! And isn’t « a splash of » such a fun happy description? Plus’🥇for 10 mi walk !!!
SOTD = Atelier Cologne Sous Le Toit de Paris
Another discontinued gem 💚💜!
https://www.instagram.com/p/DIZkFgBRYOh/?igsh=MTl4dmdweXFwcXpwdg==
I noticed the purple feather match right away. I think this had already been discontinued by time I had discovered Atelier Cologne.
It is absolutely delightful!
Quiet day at home enjoying White Linen. WL in any version is a favorite comfort scent to me. I think I’ve mention before that it “may* have been my wedding scent. But that was almost 40 years ago and I was not too much into perfume then, mainly because I thought I couldn’t afford it. I can only say that I remember smelling and liking it back in the day.😄
What’s important is it’s special enough that you know it would have worked as your wedding scent 🙂
Mellow Sunday here. SOTD is CK Secret Obsession. Going to meet a new friend at a new food court in town.
Have a good visit with your friend!
Thank you. It turned out I found a new Korean Restaurant to enjoy and it was nice to see my friend.
I am stuck at home due to my car being in the shop for what is no doubt going to be a very expensive repair bill on the air conditioner (basically, it needs a new one). I’m using this as motivation for doing some much-needed house cleaning and sorting. (Reading about lillyjo’s hoarder cousin just above give me unfortunate tingles of shame…. but I at least don’t have mice nibbling around my toes!)
Anyway, the good news is I found a shoebox hidden away with samples and small decants of many things I knew I had but had lost. Yay! I’m wearing one find today, Myrrhe Eglantine by Hermès, and finding it underwhelming. It’s pleasant enough but has something in it, not pepper but maybe a spice, that just tickles my nose uncomfortably, and it’s also just a very mild scent, so even though I sprayed a lot on I’m not getting any oomph. Which is probably for the best.
Our weather is beautiful but it’s already approaching the too hot level. Oh well, when I hear of the cold and ice elsewhere, I am happy to be warm and see bright blue sky outside. At the local HEB store this week, their plantings of jasmine were giving off a wonderful fragrance to “elevate” my experience in the parking lot. I despise the current overuse of “elevate” for everything; we now can “elevate” our bedroom decor, our table linens, our art collection, our TV watching, our lipstick and makeup and hairstyle choices…. and on and on. Elevate and Curate, folks! Be there or be square!
I hope the air conditioner isn’t too expensive. I can’t imagine not having A/C in Texas.
How lovely you found a box of scent treasures! Enjoy Calypso!
Iconic is another word. Also, chefs who ‘ hero’ an ingredient. Maybe I’m just not elevated enough to appreciate it. Good luck with your car!
Wow, I haven’t heard about the “hero” business. Ugh!
Also, an oldie but a goodie in the business world, because it just. doesn’t. go. away: “utilize”. Why would you “utilize” when you can “use”? Bugs me every time, except in one case (“utilization” of a line of credit — there it is a technical term).
Sorry about the a/c Calypso!
SOTD L’Artisan Passage d’ Enfer.
Happy Sunday! 🌞
Happy Sunday!🌼🌻
👋
SOTD is Replica On a Date. I think it’s okay for a rosy/fruity sort of fragrance. It doesn’t really smell like anything original. There are other things like this out there.
Is a rosy/fruity combo ripe for layering? And is Mr K already feeling better being back at home?
Haven’t thought about layering it I guess. I was just testing it since I had a little travel spray.
No, Mr. K is not better. Glad to be home, but he needs to get to a doctor tomorrow.
🤗🙏🤞
Good luck today!
Fingers crossed for your husband!

I’m reading an interesting book about Gaugin ( Wild Thing, Sue Prideaux) which is a reappraisal of his life and work, with details about his family life and relationships in the Polynesian period. It’s pretty interesting , worth a read, and has been shortlisted for several prizes ( Baillie Gifford, Womens Prize etc. ). Wearing Bapteme du Feu as the rain plummets down and all the sparrows are sheltering under the eaves of my roof and along my windowsills, chattering away
Oh that does look interesting…and it’s only 400ish pages — just finished a very long biography of Frederick Douglass and almost done with the Sebald one that I think you recommended, and thinking that my days of reading biographies over 500 pages might well be over.
Lots of pictures too
Even better 🙂
Thanks for that tip. Our art museum just had a major huge exhibit of his works and I learned a lot from it, and saw many things that surprised me. The wall texts were quite informative and did include mention of some of the moral/political issues that come up in connection with his works. In other words, it was not a whitewash job, but had a lot of nuance. (I’m still not a big fan of his art, but wow, many of his paintings of things in nature were just so detailed and wonderful–terrific plants and trees.)
Sad and angry about the news from Sumy. But I don’t have much to say on this subject, so I think I will move on to this week’s CP.
For Monday, I picked Tradition of Vedic chanting (https://ich.unesco.org/en/RL/tradition-of-vedic-chanting-00062), pairing it with Neela Vermeire Trayee.
It looks like we are finally done with snow and cold weather and back to spring temperatures.
Very very sad news.
😢
I so admire your creativity, particularly considering the circumstances of your country!
I always read your interpretations of the CP.
Thank you, austenfan.
Sad and angry with you Glannys!
💗
Horrible news out of Sumy. I am sorry Glannys.
Thank you!
SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays Goodbye Piccadilly EDP

I’m looking at the calendar and almost had a conniption because I thought there was still something I needed to do vis-a-vis taxes for 2024 but I was done early for once!
Hope everyone had a great day!
Yay for being done early with taxes hajusuuri!
Thanks! It was a relief for sure!
Those notes sound delicious.. is it very powdery?
Not powdery to me.
Congrats on the taxes!
Thank you!
Congrats on the taxes. I envy and admire you – I always leave the taxes, utilities and invoicing till the last few days before deadline. I just can’t make myself to do it early. 🙁Although I actually invoiced one client early this month – it’s something, I guess.
And I like the combination of notes of your perfume!
Thanks – it was very good. As to the taxes, this year may have been the only time I did it “early”. Hopefully, this is the method for going forward.
I’m in Shalimar Millisime Iris. Happy Monday everyone!
Twins! Cold and kind of rainy today so this sounded good!
Hi twin! We smelled good today.
Trying Nappa Tuberosa and notes are below. I quite like it. Kind of a mash up of Bvlgari Black and Fracas.
Bergamot, saffron, tuberose, ylang-ylang, suede accord, papyrus, cashmere wood, patchouli
Oh, that made me sit up and take notice!
Thunked a sample of SMN Eve today, courtesy of SheriG. Rich bergamot and lemon oil, dry vetiver with a woody aspect, and sichuan peppercorn that is both spicy and tingly. It is so simple but so very elegant.
In that vein, today’s tea is Fortnum & Mason’s Queen Anne.
Hiya Vee!
So glad you’re enjoying it!
Still think it is one of their best.
Wearing Cartier La Panthere EdP again today. I paired it up with Josie from “Josie and the Pussycats” yesterday, since I think it suits her.
Anyhow! Back on the weather rollercoaster in northern Colorado. Had blessed rain show up intermittently Sunday afternoon and evening. Then the temperatures dropped like a rock overnight. It was cold enough that I needed to turn on the heat this morning. Just a couple of days ago the A/C was on. Welcome to Springtime!
Oh Jalapeno I tried to match Josie and couldn’t come up with anything. Great match!
Thanks! I tried coming up with perfume picks for Melody and Valerie, too. Had no luck with Valerie.
Oooh, good pairing!
NJ weather has been similarly unable to make up its mind. Two weeks ago it was beautiful, and straight up hot one day. Last week it was and one night I gave in and turned on the heat when two sweaters and a blanket weren’t cutting it. This week (fingers crossed) beautiful again.
LOL! It was 83 degrees here not too long ago. And now there is snow in the forecast for the end of this week.
