Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating today!
Whether you’re celebrating or not, feel free to talk about anything you like: what fragrance you’re wearing today, what perfume you're especially thankful for, what you’re going to cook or eat today...whatever you like, so long as it doesn’t conflict with our comment policy.

Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. Will be wearing no 5 edt after my shower. Covid has made my sense of smell kind of strange. I go through periods of where I can’t smell and other periods on where I can. But my sense of taste is fine for some reason. Just watching the Macy’s parade but just want to see dog show.
It’s just my parents and I am will be starting our turkey dinner in a bit. Found a unicorn while we were getting a turkey on Tuesday. Found a fresh turkey under 10 pounds. My mom really wanted turkey for Thanksgiving and my dad and I were trying to go for ham or a roasting chicken. We didn’t want tons of leftovers.
Enjoy the day, Dawn!
When I first read your post, I thought you had Covid now along with everything else. I finally realized you are talking about in the past.
Hope you have a good day with your parents.
You smell fabulous. I am house twins with you.
I developed Covid about 5 days after my gallbladder surgery.
I must have missed that. Boy, you have had a lot on your plate.
Happy Thanksgiving Dawn! You did find a Turkey unicorn!
Enjoy the 🦃; hope your day is blessed despite your recent health issues and that your sense of smell gets better each day.
Have a great celebration with the perfect size turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving, Dawn! Hoping for a speedy recovery for your sense of smell.
Good morning, all, and hope that everyone who celebrates the holiday enjoys it.
I am rebelling against tradition today. It will be just me and Mr. E, and I am making Indian food for dinner. I get stressed roasting a turkey for company (especially since I burned the gravy one year,) so today I’m refusing. Ha!
Nothing wrong with having Indian food. Enjoy!
Thanks, Kris. I hope you enjoy your meal, too, whatever ethnicity it is. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving! I would love to skip tradition just once. I would choose Italian.
That would be an excellent alternative choice!
But for today, I hope your turkey turns out perfectly.
Last year, for the first time ever, I chose to not cook at all for various reasons and left it up to my son to decide what to do. We went out for a Chinese brunch! It was really fun to do something different for a change. Enjoy!
Enjoy the Indian Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving and yay for Indian food! 😋
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hope everyone who celebrates has a wonderful day filled with joy, gratitude and good food.
I am very grateful for all of you here at NST and send you my warmest thoughts.
Lillyjo, I hope your turkey has thawed; Robin, hope your son and mom feel better soon; Dawn, Calypso, Madtowngirl, I wish you a speedy recovery and best of health going forward. Deva, thank you for your generosity. I’m sure I’m missing some lovely people but that’s only because I’m getting old and senile 😊
We’re having a few guests for lunch, so I’m still cooking but I think I will put on Volutes later on.
Have a nice lunch!
Thank you Kris. Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Thank you adanst and Happy Thanksgiving! I had to dig out some ice this morning but the turkey is in the oven!
I read an article (NYTimes) about Butternall having “perfected” a low moisture version of turkey. This could maybe be your next buy 🤷🏻♀️?
Thank you adanst! Everyone is doing fine and my son and I will have a very quiet almost-Thanksgiving dinner tonight.
Just listened to all of Alice’s Restaurant on the radio so now it feels like Thanksgiving to me 🙂
Enjoy the Thanksgiving lunch you cooked.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate.
I am thankful I cooked/baked everything in advance so I just need to pop it all in the oven.
SOTD is Coco Noir. Beautiful in the cold weather. In the 20’s today.
Happy Thanksgiving! Are you getting snow?
No, but we had a little yesterday and the roads were a little slippery.
Glad your turkey is in the oven and you were able to get the ice out. I ended up cooking mine a little longer than usual. You may have to do that too.
I saw your comment from a few days ago with my SOTD (Opula Perfumes Dulce Solis Violet). When I first googled it, I only found one reference to a bottle being sold on eB$y. I don’t recall if you use Instagram but there is an account under “opulaperfumes”, still very very new …
Happy Thanksgiving Kris, I admire how organized you’ve been.
Happy Thanksgiving, Kris! And I found the website below for Opula.

SOTD = Le Labo Vanille 44
Down to almost my last dregs which will probably still last me for the next year or so.
Yesterday, I wore Patch from And fragrances and it was glorious. I was girding my loins for the dreaded auto inspection which I believe only happens in certain states. Anyway, it was a breeze with my car being the 3rd (I really should buy a lottery ticket) in line. Overall, the process was quick and I will be back again in two years unless I buy a new car but why would I?
I brought all the fruits that can fit into a turkey roasting pan and will be washing the fruits and the pan just before I leave for the celebration. I am potentially anticipating a charged discussion although we all really should get over it. In the meantime, mainstream media had all these alternate discussion topics. So, appropriate for the eventual effects of tryptophan, I have a gift article on napping!

Good luck avoiding all controversial conversations today!!!
I thought all states had car inspections but what do I know. Everyplace I have lived so far had them. At any rate, in PA I often let mine expire before I remember and have never gotten a ticket, unlike the case in DC and CA 🙂
And I am buying a new car in the next week, very excited as my trusty Honda Fit is now 15 years old and that is enough for me.
Oh, congratulations on your new car, that’s exciting!
I drive my dad’s old car, ’06 VW Jetta, a diesel with a manual transmission. It’s got some rust but it’s still under 100,000 miles.
And Indiana has no state vehicle inspection, so that farmers can drive their ancient tractors forever, at least I think that’s the reason.
Wow, a 2006! That is impressive. My old car is actually running fine and is only at 107,000. I could make it a few more years I am sure but will feel safer in a newer car.
Congrats on the upcoming car purchase! Florida doesn’t have annual inspections either, but also should not be held as the Gold Standard for anything! Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thank you Deva, and good to know…I thought it was everywhere but obviously I was quite wrong.
Happy Thanksgiving to you!
Thrilling to get a new car.
I read the article and had to laugh about keeping a pillow at work to nap. I’ve seen people fired for that.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! I am wearing Diptyque Philosykos and drinking a cup of Lady Grey tea.
I am thankful for this website. Thank you Robin for this place of beautiful teapots, newest fragrance releases and candles I would know nothing about were it not for you and the people on Now Smell This.
Happy Thanksgiving Barqs!! Philosykos is perfect for the day, and I might join you in a cup of Lady Grey this afternoon.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The turkey is in the oven!
I’m still under the weather and will probably stay in my pajamas all day. I have to be to work in the morning. It is supposed to start snowing tonight and through the weekend.
Last night at work, I had a coworker tell me ( through translation) that my perfume was delicious and where can she buy it. I was wearing Angel Muse which is discontinued and hard to find at a good price. I was so excited about how much she liked it that I gave her my bottle. It had about 20ml left.
Sharing perfume feels as good as wearing it.
Today I am wearing a dab of No.5 edt.
Hope you feel better soon and can enjoy your 🦃 dinner!
Thank you!
How very sweet of you to give away your Angel Muse!!
Most of my family is a bit under the weather and you will not be the only one in pjs 🙂
I hope your family feels better soon and doesn’t pass it along to you.
Thanks lillyjo!
I agree 100% with your perfume wearing/giving sentiment! Have a great day with your family! 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving Lillyjo, enjoy the rewards of your work in the kitchen. How sweet of you to have given the Angel Muse to your colleague.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate! And a special 🙏 to Robin and all NSTers who make this such a special place!
SOTD is what I wear each Thanksgiving Day, Karl Lagerfeld’s classic KL. Its melange of spices and warm amber blend seamlessly with the food scents of the day!
My son is cooking our dinner today for the first time; all I have to bring is my easy glazed sweet potatoes and fresh cranberry relish, which I put together yesterday. What a treat to relax on this day, and watch the parades and the dog show. I am grateful! Plus, it’s his birthday, so I have lots to be grateful for today.🙏
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday to your Son!
You smell lovely.
Ooh, KL! What a great idea – I might give that a try!
What a treat that your son did the cooking. You smell lovely, I have a small 30ml bottle of KL bought recently.
The traditional Thanksgiving dinner has been replaced in my house by steak, Yorkshire pudding, roasted mushrooms, and pumpkin custard with cinnamon streusel and whipped cream. I had dessert for breakfast and the pumpkin custard is delicious.
Thank you Robin, for NST these many years, through joy and tragedy, and thanks to everyone who posts here. This is truly a little oasis of calm in a turbulent world.
Forgot my SOTD: MKK
OMG your dinner sounds good!! I would rather have that than turkey any day.
We used to always do pumpkin flan which has got to be similar to your custard.
Enjoy the original Thanksgiving dinner.
Today I’m sporting Montalé Wood and Spices from a sample spray. I decided I liked it. I then made the mistake of looking up some reviews on Fragrantica and wow! Reviews were all over the map. One commenter likened it to cat pee in a dirty armpit and another stated it was fresh, light, and up lifting- the perfect everyday “clean” scent. I don’t smell any dirty armpit or cat pee but I’m keeping my nose on alert! 🚨😂
Happy Thanksgiving/Indigenous Day to those in the US!
Ha, never read the reviews!!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all the US folk, I hope everyone’s plans, big or small, go well. Travel, family, cooking – there can be a lot to bring together!
It’s a normal Friday here, and I’m wearing the always fabulous Chamade.
Enjoy your normal Friday Gaynor!
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate.
And thank you to Robin who continues to provide this wonderful corner of the internet to connect.
Thank you to all who contribute and care for each other through ups and downs of our daily lives.
Post shower some Bois de Iles.
Am alone for the day since I visited my sister and family a few weeks ago in Florida and we decided holiday travel is insane and we are too old to deal.
Will see if black Friday brings me a new fragrance or not!
Holiday travel is indeed insane, hope you enjoy your day apsara! You do smell fantastic.
Lush is having 7 new (some returning) fragrances coming out on Friday. They are limited and go fast!
Guerlain’s Patchouli, I haven’t smelled, but it must be great.
Always thankful for your wit and warmth.
Have a great, relaxing day.
I’m planning to wear Theorema, which I save for holidays. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. I hope everyone with health issues is healing. I am so grateful to Robin and to all who contribute. Reading this blog is the highlight of my day!
I will probably put on a dab of Theorema tonight!
And thanks, so glad it makes you happy 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating. Hugs to all trying to get through if it is hard, right now.
Thanks, Robin for keeping this community here.
I’m Lush, head to toe. Sticky Dates, Let the Good Times Roll and some Turmeric Latte. Why not?
*Jalapeno, if you see this, careful which lotion you use on your shins. Perfume is getting easier because my dog likes to lick my shins. And he’s cute, so he’s worth it.
Oh, I bet you smell fantastic!
I hope everyone has a peaceful day with good food and relaxed company. I’ve had Covid, which was a bit of a surprise as I haven’t had it before, and mistook it for a cold until I realised that my familiar perfumes smelled odd, more than sharp alcohol than scent. Much better now and negative .
Thanks Robin for keeping this site going and bringing us all together. You are a champion. And thanks to everyone for creating such a cool, inclusive vibe and the daily chat, and for checking in on one another with such love and kindness.
