Miller Harris Mineir & Staccato ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 5 September 2024 Leave a Comment

British niche line Miller Harris has launched two new fragrances, Mìneir and Staccato.

Mìneir ~ "A refreshing fragrance that captures the invigorating essence of crisp, cold and dark water. Crisp aromatic notes of sage, eucalyptus and mint bringing a crisp darkness to this evocative scent. // Inspired by the isolation and personal battles of Virginia Woolf's ’To the Lighthouse’, Emilie Bouge wanted to recall the icy and dark night air she had felt while reading the text and with the idea to try to translate the emotion of this exhilarating feeling of freedom and isolation at once. The fragrance starts with a fresh spicy note (cardamom) combined with crispy aromatic notes (sage, eucalyptus and mint) which brings you to this cold and dark evening. The green grass note brings a natural facet to pay tribute to the greenery that adorn this beautiful landscape. For the heart, is added a sea salt note to represent the ocean spray and several woods (cedarwood and cashmere wood) to enhance the emblematic white flower accord of sibling fragrance Scherzo, which make it so unique and sophisticated. On the base, myrrh and papyrus are included." Additional notes include cold air, moss and patchouli.

Staccato ~ "The forbidden love of two characters meeting in a New York apartment. A deep smoky blend of Chinese cedarwood, tobacco and benzoin round off this alluring scent. Addictive and smoky, the scent is inspired by a page taken from the novel ‘The Age of Innocence’ by Edith Wharton. // Staccato is inspired by a passage of text in ‘The Age of Innocence’ by Edith Wharton. One page was the only thing given to perfumer Karine Vichon Spehner as the brief for the fragrance to be created. The passage describes the 2 main characters meeting in her apartment and despite his engagement to another woman, there is an attraction. So the scent is about a forbidden love, and Karine searched for something between politeness and desire. So the honey is here to speak of the sweetness of the sentiment, yet there were many spices used which symbolise the attraction and also to evoke the far off bazaar. The Chinese cedarwood is used for its smoky quality and tobacco, to remind us of the coffee and the fireplace Ambergris is also mentioned in the book, so, we used a representation of ambergris subtlety in the fragrance, and it helps to bring a subtle classic modernity that speaks to the period." Additional notes include cinnamon leaves, cardamom, ginger, clove, saffron, rose, jasmine, leather and cade.

Miller Harris Mìneir and Staccato are available in 100 ml Eau de Parfum, $245 each.
