Twenty-five years ago, I started working on Editions de Parfums in an attempt to create a direct link between the best perfumers in the industry and the most demanding public,” he continued. “In doing so, I created a platform where noses could express themselves fully and be so proud of their work that they would want to sign it with their names. It’s a long time to do the same thing. I’m sure that’s why he sold to EL.
I’m not surprised; that’s a long tenure anywhere! I just wonder if he starts something new or retires.
Or, keeps his hand in but doesn’t have to work any more than he wants to? I mean, it really is a long time.
I wonder how EdP will approach things now. Maybe they’ll just hang onto the old catalog and not launch new fragrances. And maybe they’ll discontinue the ones that don’t sell well.
Would be shocked if they did not launch new things…they paid for the brand name, and I’m sure when they bought it they figured he would retire at some point, if indeed they did not already know exactly when.
Look how well Jo Malone is doing, after all…
Do I need to hurry and get my BUB of Iris Poudre? I wonder how long it will be before all his scents are discontinued.
