Happy Friday and happy International Women's Day! The theme for 2024: Inspire Inclusion ("When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world"). Our community project for today: do what you like for Women's Day...wear a perfume in honor of a woman who is important in your life or an important female historical figure, or wear a perfume by a female perfumer, or ? Thanks to Kanuka for the suggestion!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm still on vacation and still commando...zero points for me this week! I'll do better next week.
Reminder: 3/15 will be Vanilla Friday...wear your bestest vanilla for spring (or fall, if you're in the southern hemisphere.) (This is a repeat from 2018, when we did it in January.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: top image is via Women's Day at Twitter.
Oops…also meant to say that I have fallen behind on comments (I have not read Thursday’s at all) and I may not catch up until Sunday.
Happy Vacation, Robin! A nice way to treat yourself, making it International Women’s Week, not just Day!😻
Thanks Laila! Have had a great time and sorry I will be going home tomorrow 🙂
Safe travels back home Robin!
Hello and tgif!
Today I am honouring my mum by wearing one of her favourite scents – JM’s Red Roses. I don’t know what magical skin chemical she has but on her, JMs last ALL DAY.
Great scent and a nice tribute to your mother.
She is magical! Wow.
Celebrating Germaine Cellier in Miss Balmain today.
House and perfumer twins!
For me too.
I’m celebrating her in Fracas.
Fracas is a party in a bottle!
Celebrating women’s day with 4160 Tuesdays Cherry Who?
I love this one 🍒!
I am honoring and remembering my mother in Dana Tabu, her signature scent. It is not easy for me to wear Tabu these days because lots of emotions overwhelm me. Her passing is still too recent. However, by wearing it today, I feel that she is embracing me dearly, something that I terribly miss. Comfort, love, and peace will surround me the whole day having her scent on me. That puts a smile on my face.
Happy International Women’s Day!🌹
That’s a wonderful way to celebrate the day and to think of your mom. Hugs.
Thank you, Springpansy! 🌻
pl67,
My mom wore Tabu also.
Be kind to yourself today.
Thank you, Apsara! I am glad to hear she had a Tabu twin!🌹
Sending a hug, too
Thank you, Kanuka!🌻
Not only did this put a smile on your face, it likely also put a smile on her face, too!
That’s very touching, Hajusuuri! Thank you!🌻
Hugs!
She is smiling with you!
Thanks Ltsg!🌹
How touching, Tabu is a wonder.
It is great and very special scent for me!🌻
And a hug from me too.
Thank you, Gaynor!🌹
Another hug of comfort, peace and love coming your way 🤗. Tabu was the only scent my beloved MIL wore and always makes me think of her, as I am today.
Thank you, Laila! I am happy to hear your MIL also wore Tabu. My mom is is good triple company today! 😊
You smell like an angel.🤍
Thank you, Annie!
What a thoughtful way to celebrate your mother. I hope Tabu has comforted you – you smell beautiful. Sending you a hug at this difficult time.
Thank you, Sistine! Tabu has been a very good companion today!
What a lovely way to honor and remember your mother. Sending another hug your way.
Thank you, Ringthing!
More hugs! What a lovely remembrance of your Mom.
Thank you, Jalapeno! 🌹
And still more hugs! I hope your day in her scent was tender and comforting.
Thank you, Isabella! It was a very comforting day!
Adding a few more hugs. How lovely that you could wear her perfume today.
Thank you, Gail!
I’ll be spending half the day in the woods, leading a fire ecology training for my colleagues, but for the CP I’ll be wearing a very non-woods-appropriate fragrance, Ella, in honor of my mama. Ella and 1000 have some significant overlap, although they’re different scents, and 1000 was her signature scent. I can’t wear it because it’s just too “hers,” but I can smell it, and her, in Ella — not enough to make me sad or to feel like I’m dressing up in her clothes, just enough to make me remember her fabulousness with love and smiles.
That’s a lovely tribute
That sounds lovely, reminiscent but not too much the same.
Lovely!
❤️
The woods are lucky to have you visit!
Aw, this made me tear up a bit.
I’m finishing up my week of Guerlain with my absolute favorite, Mitsouko edt.
Love this one!
Amazing perfume.
For IWD I’m in Montana Parfum d’Elle (just for the name). No amount of Googling would disclose the name of the perfumer, but it’s a very late-eighties thing, with a whole lot of ingredients. I don’t like the opening at all, aggressively melony/cucumbery, but after that burns away it’s nice, and the base is glorious, a soft lush tobacco vanilla. I mostly bought it (incredibly cheaply, on clearance) for the bottle, to be honest. I think Serge Mansau looked at Montana Parfum de Peau and thought, “Now, what else can I do with a stack of ovals?”, coming up with an EDP bottle that looks like an alien seashell and an EDT bottle that’s a cell phone from the future.
I just looked up the bottle and that cap is impressive, sand dune meets space ship
Mon Preciex Nectar today for both my grandmothers. Smell pretty, be strong, do good…. also, apologizing in advance for veering into politics, I hope everyone watched the SOTU speech last night, no matter what your slant is. We need more shared experiences., and the SOTU is something we could talk about for ever.
It is true we need more shared experiences!
I was thinking about wearing OJ Woman, but reading yesterday’s comments about new Estee Lauder legacy scents put me in the mood for some Estee Lauder. So my SOTD is Knowing (old formula, not legacy). While the perfumer is a man, the brand owner is a woman, and there is something empowering in this perfume (at least for me).
Post-op update: I feel fine. Had my dressing changed, and the nurse said everything looks great – dry, clean, no swelling. Still need to come tomorrow for another change, then see the surgeon next week for a check-up.
Glad to hear everything’s going well, post-operation!
You smell divine, Glannys! And that’s great post-op news.
Glad the wound is healing well!
Glad all is going well and it was great to see you comeback – we were worried. My ❤️ is always with Ukraine.
Hooray for your recovery progress!
Glad everything looks good! Knowing is a good choice.
Good news that you are healing well!
Very glad to hear it!
Calyx today for Sophia Grojsman.
Not in any way saying anything bad about the IWD theme above — because we made the same mistake at work until yesterday — but it turns out the actual UN Women theme for the day is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.” https://www.un.org/en/observances/womens-day
Our head of DEI caught wind of a LinkedIn post making the rounds and sent it to us yesterday. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-im-going-inspireinclusion-years-international-womens-clare-josa-yumce?trk=public_post_main-feed-card_feed-article-content Apparently some random marketing agency bought the page “internationalwomensday, com” and has been coming up with all the more anodyne, business-friendly themes and poses, and they’re taking corporate donations. But they do not line up with the UN, which founded the day and chooses themes more based on real progress women around the world need to make. (The page probably exists to take in those donations, without the companies realizing that it’s not official.) All I can say is, GRRRR.
Anyway, we had a mad scramble yesterday afternoon to rebrand our event today. But, glad we found out beforehand!
I read a similar thing in an Australian news item
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-03-08/repoliticising-international-womens-day-creating-change/103561992
Great scent and thanks for clearing up about the history of this day!
I should see how my bottle of Calyx is doing when the weather warms up.
Oh interesting! Well, too late for me to change the post
Yep, totally get it. Who knew? Not me until yesterday. Anyway not worth thinking about while you’re in a warmer climate.
SOTM is Le Temps d’Une Fête, created by the genius of Patricia de Nicolai. It’s literally freezing here this morning, but I smell like spring. Happy Friday everyone!
You smell lovely!
You smell amazing. I need to wear this soon.
She is one of my favourite perfumers and Le Temps is so very beautiful!
Le Temps d’une Fête is a wonderful perfume!
You smell fantastic! We are house twins today
Now that I think about it, my decant of Le Temps is from you. I’ll switch to it tonight so we can be bottle twins!
What a lovely perfume, spring in a bottle.
Freezing weather twins today. 🥶🥶
Ava Luxe No. 23 for me today. A yummy comforting blend of sandalwood, light florals, and musk. Plus I swear I get the tiniest smooth herbal mint note in the top that adds piquancy before it disappears. Sadly, my 1 oz bottle has shown some evaporation since the last time I pulled it out. Need to decant it I guess. Serena Franco is the indie perfumer. I think she goes by Serena Ava Goode now. I love her fragrances.
Me too! Have you smelled Madame X since she’s brought it back? I’m curious if it still is the same.
No I have not, ringthing. I’ll be curious to read what people think.
Joining in today with Germaine Cellier‘s Jolie Madame for Balmain. One of my desert island scents. And perfect for a cold but sunny, almost-spring day.
Hope everyone had a good weekend!
Twins.
We share the perfumer, though not the house!
Same weather here. And Miss Balmain is definitely on my desert island list!
Make that *has* 😬
Jolie Madame, Miss Balmain, and Vent Vert are 3 huge favorites of mine.
Oh! This might be a good one for me for this evening. My very old bottle has a bit of a musty topnote but quickly rights the ship and sails off in the proper direction. Such a beauty.
Hope you’re enjoying the voyage. 😊
My vintage Ivoire de Balmain is one of my desert island scents.
I’m wearing my mystery Annick Goutal fragrance. I received it as a freebie because it was missing the fragrance name/label and cap. I was told by the sales rep that she thought it was “Passion”.
There’s lots of great frags being worn on NST today! Happy Friday everyone.
What does it smell like?
I’m getting something fairly sweet upon spraying it, and a green note that lasts for a minute and then fades. It’s settled down to what smells like more orange blossom to me.
I checked Fragrantica, and it seems like it might actually be closer to Gardenia Passion than Passion. Although I don’t have too many Goutals so I don’t have alot to compare it to.
I have several Goutals like that, Gail, so I feel you, they kind of drive me crazy because I’m just not sure what they are. There are plenty like L”Heure Exquise, Eau du Sud, Hadrien, & many more that I can ID immediately, but those hazy white florals with a citrus cologne base confuse me. Still, when I’ve found these bottles at antique fairs, I’ve snapped them up, figuring they’d be pretty no matter what and maybe one day I’d lay the mystery to rest.
Oh how nice to get bottles at a fair!
House twins today!
Hi twin! I saw your post yesterday about Heure Exquise; it’s a beautiful fragrance.
No reason for wearing this fragrance except that I love it. Iris Poudre is my SOTD.
@Kris, this is always the best reason for wearing a perfume!
Indeed!
I thought so😉
You smell lovely!
Thank you my dear.
Do you have a BUB of this one? Or at least a nice big 100mL bottle?
I did have a BUB, but I gave it to a NSTer that has given me a lot of great fragrances. It is just a 50 ml bottle. Maybe I will get another one some day.
I adore Iris Poudre but always feel like I’m too scruffy for it! It has such poise…
It does at that, but I have worn it looking a little scruffy I am sure at some point.
Joining in the CP with DSH Perfumes Muresque, a wonderful blackberry fragrance that contains the whole blackberry bush. Happy International Women’s Day!
It doesn’t get much better than this beautiful blackberry chypre🖤
That sounds absolutely fantastic! I wish I had access to DSH.
I could do this CP for another week or two, easily! Wearing Onda VdE by Vero Kern from my very treasured bottle. So, so good. 🤩
Came across this, which is just such an amazing work of dance and music- the choreography, the editing, the music, the cinematography, the 70’s color scheme, the incongruity, and here and there, reminiscent of Herman Munster! So fun and the song…still killing it. 🕺🏼
https://youtu.be/REPPgPcw4hk?si=uPmYl-nlcIIp01N-
Happy weekend!
This is one of my favorite songs!
It’s a little 80’s New Wave.
I just loved the dance- so well done and fits this song perfectly. 🙃
I’m so envious of your Vero Kern!
Mind you, I would want Rubj rather than Onda. She fits today’s CP so very, very well!
Not that I would ever enable…😉
https://shop.campomarzio70.it/products/rubj-vero-profumo?_pos=1&_sid=a2a1682a7&_ss=r&variant=38312367751319
Thank you very much for the blast from the past, love that song.
Your welcome!
You’re*
I’ve always liked that song. Truly incredible choreography!
Happy Friday!
I’m wearing My Eau My from Sarah McCartney, because she seems wonderfully fun and because it was a freebie from a wonderful female NSTer.
My Eau My has notes of orris, benzoin, bergamot, rose, oakmoss, and vanilla.
You sure smell great!
2nd that!
So many of the Sarah McCartney perfumes have really fun names.
So, I was thinking of the “ Bread and Roses” theme that runs through much of the labour movement, fighting for fair wages and decent working conditions. The idea of feeding the body and the soul. The phrase was first used by Helen Todd and then turned into a poem by James Oppenheimer, and those words became a song, Bread and Roses ( Judy Collins does, arguably, the most famous version).
“Not at once; but woman is the mothering element in the world and her vote will go toward helping forward the time when life’s Bread, which is home, shelter and security, and the Roses of life, music, education, nature and books, shall be the heritage of every child that is born in the country, in the government of which she has a voice.”
— Helen Todd, 1910.
Pairing it with Tresor, Sophia Grosjman, one of my favourite perfumers.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsvGPj0LH0M
The Judy Collin’s version of Bread and Roses
Gosh, yes.
Her lips to God’s ears
Wearing no 5 eau Premiere today. It’s probably my favorite variation of no 5.
Mine too
Mine as well. Keep thinking I need to get BUB in case they ever discontinue.
Or do a bad reformulation.
Honoring Delphine Jelk in Jasmin Bonheur
I gave a private tour today at NYPL and now I am home and exhausted
I have been so busy these days with the library and when I am not there I am busy crocheting grandma squares for a blanket to be auctioned off at my kids school. Reading has taken a back seat!
How do you like Jasmin Bonheur?
Smelling lovely in one of my favorite scents from one of my favorite houses/perfumers–Idylwilde from Inneke. I could also be wearing Poet’s Jasmine, or Field Notes from Paris, or Sweet William…..they are all lovely. As far as I am concerned, everyday should be International Woman’s Day. Celebrate all.
Enabler pin to you Jepster.
Bought Idylwilde about two years ago due to your love of it.
Thanks, Apsara!! Always here to encourage wild fragrant exploits!!
First of all I want to thank Kanuka for suggesting this CP.
I’m wearing Fracas by Germaine Collier. Both because she was probably a bit of a pioneer and because Fracas somehow feels empowering.
I’m headed for the Netherlands this weekend. My brother my sister and I will make yet another attempt to convince my very elderly parents that they need help. So far they have refused all suggestions but perhaps our collective presence will achieve something. Wish me luck and patience!
*Cellier
I hope things goes well this weekend and your parents can understand your good intentions. Good luck!
Hope everything will go well for all concerned.
Good luck, austenfan! Be strong.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Sending you luck and patience! You smell great.
Wishing you good luck with your parents.
That’s a tough one. I hope the unified front is successful.
Oh my, that is challenging. I hope you have some positive options to suggest for them…. it is important that an older person can see things in their future as facilitating pleasant opportunities rather than being sort of punitive.
Oh boy. A difficult situation, for sure. Good luck to you and your siblings.
Oh, that’s heavy. Wishing you luck and comfort!
Excellent good luck to the 3 of you!
Someone was wearing a PdN earlier in the week, so decided to wear Baikal Leather.
Nice to see PdN make a good showing today.
Pear, mango and yogurt smoothie
So picked Jolie Madame which I worship but don’t wear very often in spite of a large supply of vintage and tonight I chose Miss Dior vintage esprit de parfum, one of the loveliest tribute by a brother to his sister.
I didn’t know that about Miss Dior. Thanks for sharing it!
You’re welcome, there was a charming post on Bois de Jasmin some time ago, with photos, Mademoiselle Dior was lovely and elegant and a war heroine too.
Thanks, I’ll take a look!
Both of those perfumes share a certain mood, don’t they?
I agree and they both have leather.
A few months ago, I added a column to my list of FBs to include the perfumeur – it’s been so useful this week 🙂 .
I’m planning on testing Indigo Smoke again today. I’m 99% certain that I want it, and my local perfumery has it back in stock. The perfumer is Calice Becker, so I’ll be on theme.
I’ve also been working my way through the Penhaligon’s Trade Routes discovery set that I bought in Sydney. I had already tried most of them, they are likes rather than loves, but the sales assistants in the shop were lovely and I wanted a souvenir. The shop was in the Queen Victoria Building, which is beautiful.
Sounds like a fun time in Sydney! I love discovery sets.
Love that building. I can remember they had an L’ Occitane when I was last there, fifteen years ago
KanukaI would like to go back in time and scoop up a bunch of those wonderful L’Occitane scents they had in that store 15 years ago.
A discovery set is a perfect souvenir.
I’m a big fan of Indigo Smoke, and will be interested in hearing your final verdict!
Glorious day here in LA, and the sun has lifted my spirits. Wearing “24 Faubourg” from Hermès, and it feels just right.
A very elegant perfume.
Isn’t it? I felt très chic at Trader Joe’s.😁
haha too bad I wasn’t standing behind you in line, Daniel
Mad styling with your perfume pick today!
You smell nice!
My late MIL & FIL loved to travel to warm, sunny places like Florida & the Caribbean. She often brought me back a small souvenir, and my cherished favorite is the tiny, oval, deep blue flacon of Worth Je Reviens pure perfume. It lays flat and slips into its own deep blue suede pouch. I fell in love with it immediately, although at the time I really wasn’t into fragrance, and the only fragrance she ever wore that I remember was Tabu. And it remains in my top 5 fragrances, especially in the spring, and I now have it in various forms as well, reserving the perfume for special occasions.
When I married into this large and close family, I saw this kind, gentle woman as a sort of ‘non-person,’ easily overshadowed by my FIL’s oversized personality, that of a ‘benevolent autocrat.’ (His siblings often remarked how he had ‘mellowed’ as he aged.). But as life went on I grew to realize that it was her quiet strength that held the disparate elements of her family together in peace. When her son and I divorced, she was my emotional support, ensuring that I remained a member of their family, and as it became more and more difficult for her to accept her son’s actions, I became her emotional support. So, for all the support and love you gave me, and for teaching me how to be a good MIL when my turn came, I’m wearing those precious drops of Worth Je Reviens you gave me long ago as I honor you, Sophie, on International Women’s Day! 🥂💐❤️
Looking forward to the arrival of a new dishwasher tomorrow – been without one for 2 weeks and I really miss it – and wishing everyone a lovely weekend ahead!🌷
What a lovely tribute! I’m sure you’re following in her footsteps.
2nd what SarahN said. That just melted my heart.
Thanks for such a beautiful post, Laila! So touching! 🌹❤️
3rd-ing SarahN – your description and tribute to your MIL are striking
What a wonderful woman, and so glad you have each other
She sounds like a wonderful woman. How lucky the two of you were to meet and connect.
Thank you for sharing your story – and you smell wonderful!
That’s a lovely tribute! She sounds like an amazing woman.
Such a special person to have in one’s life.
Your MIL was a diamond.
Thank you for sharing these memories! Your MIL and the relationship you were able to have and keep with her both sound extraordinary.
Thank you all for your kind words. I’m fortunate to have not only warm memories but many tangible reminders of her love that she expressed in her needlework. She was proficient in many forms – she crocheted, knitted, hooked rugs, and did crewel and counted cross stitch – and her handmade gifts keep her presence alive in a very real way.
Such a beautiful and loving tribute💐
Lovely tribute, Laila.
SOTD is Rien, mostly because I didn’t recall owning it until decluttering. And I am loving it.
I did purchase the discovery size of OJ Vanille Afriques – so Linda Pilkington is here somewhere today.
It warms my soul to see so many sweet memories and thoughts of Tabu and other fragrances our moms, aunties, grannys, FILs, DILs wore and wear.
You smell amazing. Rien is sooo good. (I spray it carefully, because if it gets on my clothing I’ll smell it for weeks!)
I’m a Rien lover too. It’s so unique.
Also a member of the Rien fan club!
SOTD = Mad et Len Petits Papiers
So good 🥰 and must wear this more often! The line was founded by a couple and I am wearing it to celebrate International People’s Day!

There’s a brand spanking new book on Keith Haring’s Life “Radiant: The Life and Line of Keith Haring” by Brad Gooch. I will get it tomorrow. Wahoo!
I am currently watching Season 3 of Brooklyn 9 – 9. I am enjoying it for its witty subject and wacky characters.
Captain Holt!
R.I.P. Andre Braugher
💔
Brooklyn 9-9 is is such a fun show. The opening for season 4, episode 9 made me laugh harder than I can ever remember laughing. If you ever get a chance to see it, the Finding Your Roots episode with Andy Samberg is wonderful.
it’s a beautiful scent.
There was a good review of Radiant in the NYT yesterday.
Hope that the new book lives up to your expectations.
First time posting here, I’ve lurked for years. I’m wearing the new version of Azuree.
Welcome, I bet you smell great.
Welcome!
How do you like it?
Welcome!
Greetings and welcome!
Welcome! I looked up your scent and it sounds very intriguing.
Welcome! Let us know what you think of it. It’s been fun reading here about people’s various takes on new collection.
Welcome, TFlinn. Love Azuree. You smell great.
Hi from another former long-time lurker. Are you already an Azuree fan?
I’m wearing PdN’s New York, but I may join SheriG in Le Temps later.
Today’s tea is a “Scottish Grey” that does a surprisingly good job of having a strong, malty, Scottish breakfast robustness, while still letting the bergamot come though. It is particularly good as a London fog, which is what I’m sipping on now.
Ah, New York, I wore it yesterday. You smell utterly wonderful.
Your Tea of the Day sounds quite good!
Ambush and #5 for Mom later.
Gorgeous day. Love to all.
Two lovely perfumes, clearly a woman of taste.
Definitely. She was the life of party, too.💗
Hey, good to see you posting!
Hope that you and the new pup are doing well.
Thanks, Jalapeno. Its good to be here.
My pup is snoozing on my coat, as we speak.😉
Nice combo. Plus Eau de pup, that tender musky clean scent that pups give off. The pup is lucky to have you!
I chose Hiris for the CP. It’s an Olivia Giacobetti creation and one of my absolute favorite perfumes.
I hope everyone who is feeling a little lost today missing someone special can get comfort from their memories.
You smell wonderful! And thank you for reminding me about Hiris. I’ll be sure to spritz some on Olivia’s honor before the day is through.
Thanks sistine.
Thank you for posting something so empathetic, and you smell absolutely perfect!
I was drawn to Olivia Giacobetti’s Premier Figuier today. It definitely helped to usher in spring🌸
A favorite, you smell delicious.
Have a wonderful visit to beautiful Florida, Robin. The citrus fruit should be wonderful there now. For the CP win, SotD is Tuscany per Donna. I am a big Estee Lauder fan, both of the shrewd businesswoman herself and of many of the company’s products. I almost wore Estee, but I was not in the right mood for its power. 🙂 I am still mulling over the Legacy Collection samples; generally, I don’t dislike any of them. But I have a hard time getting excited over airy, transparent or soft scents, though I think they have their place.
Tuscany per Donna is gorgeous!
You smell great! (I can still see the vintage bottle I walked by and didn’t bother getting!)
Oh geez!
Was it right next to that bottle of Apres l’Ondee I decided I couldn’t afford that day at TJX? Argh, was I ever silly that day!
Thanks MossyBerry!
Come sit by me, you smell fabulous. I too love Tuscany, both the men’s and the women’s versions. And I’m with you on those light airy transparent scents, which just lift off my skin and fly away. Give me the big guns!
TpD really is one of the greats of its style, and the OG bottle is so pretty. I’ll nab Tucany per uomo too, if I ever see a deal on it.
The woman, Patricia de Nicolai, and the scent, Le Temps d’une Fête, that was my signature for years. They sent me down the rabbit hole.
Hi everyone, happy Friday!
I started the day in Zoologist Cow and just switched to Aroma M Geisha Noire. I knew that a woman, Maria McElroy, did all of Aroma M but I didn’t know that Cow also had a female perfumer, Nathalie Feisthauer. Wow, she’s done a lot of good perfumes! I need to pay more attention to who makes what I like. Thanks for a fun CP, Kanuka!
Double points ringthing!
I’m posting late but am conforming to the CP by wearing Calling All Angels from the line, and by, Tanja Bochnig. I like several of hers that I’ve tried but this one is by far my favorite. My bottle, which is still pretty full, is at least six years old and probably older, and the juice feels a bit thicker, darker, and richer than it was, in a pleasant way. It hits you right off with all the incense/resins but as I keep wearing it I notice more lofty notes of honey and rose and it’s just extremely beautiful, and a bit mysterious.
My brother is not doing well after his most recent chemo treatment, and I’m very worried. I think he and his wife plan to come back here to Houston soon, which makes me happy because I can try to do more to look after him/them. I also understand that for most people the journey through chemo is often rocky… I haven’t been through this with anyone before and it’s rather stressful, to say the least.
Sorry to hear that, hugs.
That sounds incredibly difficult. I hope he can be closer to you for both of your sakes💕
Such a shame to hear that. Hugs Calypso.
I am so sorry! Also sending you a hug.
Adding hugs Calypso 💙
Stay strong, the journey through chemo is bumpy to say the least. It does get worse before (hopefully) it gets better. Sending healing energy your way.
Sending more hugs, and warm wishes for your brother’s health!
I’m so sorry to hear about your brother, Calypso. Sending virtual hugs.
I’m so sorry and I hope your beautiful perfume is making you feel just a tiny bit better. What a great sister you are, Calypso.
Sorry to hear this, Calypso. I’m glad they will be closer to you.
I am going with my woman owned/founded companies for the CP. I recently got some samples from CocoaPink, a company I discovered here on this forum. I am wearing Boo Boo Lemon Noel which starts out just like a lemon drop tastes and then goes into vanilla bean, like Vanilla Bean Noel.
Oops, meant to come by earlier to report. I’m in Civet by Shelley Waddington for Zoologist today. I was just craving it this morning. It’s one of the few Zoologist perfumes I love.
Smelling wonderful!
Today’s snow proved to be a non-event. The coating that eventually showed up melted as quickly as it fell. Temps have hovered right around freezing all day. I am seeing patches of blue sky poking thru the thick blanket of clouds now. Oh well.
Neither my Mom nor my MIL had a signature scent. For a while when I was growing up, I shared a few splash bottles of Jean Nate with my Mom. We also both liked Charlie.
SOTD = AG Ambre Fetiche EdP, in the old “femme” style 50mL bottle. It still smells great. Kevin’s review here on NST convinced me that I had to at least sample it. I fell head over heels after that sample. Annick Goutal was founded by a woman; it counts!
I’ve wanted to try Amber Fetiche for a long time! Annick Goutal is a fantastic house.
Ambre Fetiche is definitely worth a sniff in my book.
I’ve worried over the years that by not having a signature scent, I’m depriving my son of something special.
I would advise you not to worry about it. One of my Aunts did have a signature scent, but that’s not what I recall when I think of her. I think of her laugh, and her smile.
Sorry no snow!
I shared Jean Nate with Mom, too. 💖
March is supposed to be the snowiest month here in Colorado. We shall see…
I love that entire series AG did, very unusual foray for the brand, but all good. My fave might be the Myrrh Ardente but they are all excellent.
Unaware of the CP today, I sprayed Caftan (by Calice Becker, whose work I really like particularly for Killian) and HG Lustre in either arm. I am so much into incense lately that I needed two! Lustre is really a beautiful softly incense-bright naturalistic rose. Though most people don’t describe it as balsamic, I think the olibanum is very noticeable.
Nobody in my family that I can recall are or were perfume fans, but my grandma’s garden introduced me to florals. She had lots of honeysuckle and big red fragrant roses. Lustre does remind me of her.
You had a fortuitous perfume pick today!
But wearing exactly what you want to always beats a CP theme, hands down.
Yes! 🙂 Compliant by luck.
Lustre is lovely! It seems to have come and gone so quickly, though — I don’t see it on his site anymore.
I know! He said on discontinuing that it didn’t sell. I don’t understand it, it’s so beautiful. I see there are still bottles being sold at some of his retailers though.
Celebrating International Women’s day with YSL Champagne by Sophia Grosjman.
I saw she did EA True Love. I think I went through 2 bottles many years ago. I just added a third to my ever rotating cart. I am sure it’s not quite the same but for 11 dollars, I might risk it.
My Mom used to have a bottle of EA True Love ages ago. Pretty sure she used it up.
Such a cool theme and I wish I would have had a chance to pick something based on an elaborate scheme but it’s been a very hectic work day so my best choice was a spray of perfume I reach for when I want something that works for any occasion: Irisque by Charna Ethier of Providence Perfume Company. Points for scent created by a woman! I love this supremely elegant scent and wear the bejeezus out of it.
In HdP 1804 George Sand, so points for that — but who is the perfumer for this one? My edition of The Guide lists a woman, but LuckyScent lists Gerald Ghislain.
Long day to end a long week. At least I got to wear one of my favorites!
