Happy Almost-Friday, happy Almost-March and happy Leap Day! It's also National Toast Day. RIP Richard Lewis. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm seeing February out in Hermès L'Ambre des Merveilles.
Reminder: On 3/1, Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's March. Wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

February went by fast.
I’m in Cuir Sacre today.
Not fast enough 🙂
I agree with you there, Robin.
I wouldnt want to skip my bday on the 24th 😉
And we wouldn’t want you to!!
Have to agree with lucasai that February went by fast!
SUCH weird weather we’re having! Yesterday it went up to 12°C; this morning it was raining with high wind, and then the temperature started dropping; the rain turned into snow, and the temperature is supposed to plummet to -20° or thereabouts; and then it’s going up to 12° again on the weekend! This is so not normal for the end of February in eastern Canada.
But anyway. I’m in SL Chypre Rouge, my first-ever Lutens and one of my most beloved. It makes me mysteriously content and happy.
You smell great, ad we’re getting the same weather here. I’m in Tubereuse Criminelle which is a bit much for me, for today-I’m soaked with rain and my hair looks insane lol. Looking forward to hot shower later, and maybe a sauna, if I make it to the gym.
TC is soooo good!
I’m in Wazamba for the first time, since I just got my first decant. This one is definitely fbw, and is vying with Corsica Furiosa for my favorite Pd’E scent.
Scent twins today!
I’m also wearing Wazamba. Said my rabbits this morning before I remembered Leap Day, I’ll probably forget tomorrow.
LOL…but the rabbits today ought to give you enough good luck to remember the rabbits tomorrow!
Tempte de Automne, a mild sandlewood. Happy this one is not making me sneeze!
Oh good!
Hello.
Sotd is Tam Dao. It’s zen, it’s great.
I unknowingly celebrated Toast Day! Had 2 slices too, so definitely celebrated it properly.
Toast is good 🙂
I’m in Dame BFMV.
The sky and sun are gorgeous today.🌞
I lied on Monday about our anticipated 40 degree temperature drop. It turned out to be over 50! Tuesdays high was 68 and when I left for work yesterday morning it was 14!🥶 The snow completely missed us through and headed for lillyjo.
My grad girl comes home tomorrow and I can hardly wait! Looking forward to sitting on the couch and snuggling, because you’re never too old to snuggle with your mom right?
Yep.. I got it. Lol
The weather people said they are pretty certain that was the last of it. I’m not buying it yet though.
I always loved snuggling with my mom.
On the way to the airport to drop off my dad. He is going to visit my sister in California. Currently in vintage BaV today.
Hope he has a good trip Dawn.
Hello all!
I had just sprayed on my Bois des Iles EdT when I saw that my morning class was canceled. Perfect timing! Took off my shoes and opened up my laptop to work on my tedious chemistry homework. I have 4 hours till my afternoon class so I might even have time for a nap.
Have a great day everyone!
Realizing I should have worn rhubarb for Leap Day! But it would be practically sacrilegious to spray over BdI.
LOL! I hope you have a productive morning!
I’ve done more than I probably would at this point!
Are the fires impacting where you’re at? I hope the air quality is okay. Smelling fabulous over there!
I’ll answer for Coumarin, since I seem to have seen this before he did. No, not that I can tell. It’s very overcast here. We are quite far away from the Panhandle. Supposedly they will be getting both rain and snow over there today which might help with those terrible fires.
Thanks! Wish I could send some of this rain to Texas. ☔️
It’s so gloomy, it’s true. But I love the cool weather.
Thnak you! I’ll take rain any day, especially for the fires. 🙁
My son starts his chemistry PhD today ( it’s the start of the university year) and for the past four years I have been trying to get him interested in making perfumes to no avail…he’s studying something to do with blebs and liposomes. Looks like the swanky apartment in Paris or Geneva and a perfume lab in Grasse or Paris is not on the cards…shame.
Aw, too bad! Good luck to him.
I don’t even know what blebs are! And not going to look!
I’m spending the morning in a two-to-one Tam Dao/Philosykos layering, so … PhilosyDao? No? Lovely combo in any event, with thanks to Robin who introduced us all to it. Happy Leap Day!
Oh thank you, and it needed a name!
PhilosyDao, makes me think of a square dance call. 😄
This comment deserves some love 👏
Aww, thanks, MissGoldsmith!
Yes! I knew there was something odd about that name, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
TamSykos sounds worse, though.
Rainy day here for a trip to the DMV for my dad to renew his license, he has to take the eye test. Feeling tired and ready to fly home tomorrow. Ambre Tibet again.
Hope it goes well and the flight home is easy peasy 🙂
We were successful!
Excellent!
Hope you can rest up and have a smooth return home.
Thank you!!
Safe travels back home!
SOTD = Dior Fève Delicieuse
Powdery tonka vanilla and whole lotta other notes. I should wear this more often!

Questions about products:
1. Starbucks introduced Oleato coffee < 2 years ago and it “died”. Now it’s back as a foam topping. Have you had the original and/or the foam topping? I cannot imagine olive oil being mixed with coffee but I may be tempted to try it. Right now, I’m in the no way I’m grossed out stage.
2. I heard about laundry soap from Bath & Body Works. 32 fl. oz. 2 for $30 but since there’s no 🍌 for scale, I have no clue what that translates to. I usually use unscented. Has anyone tried it? What do you think?
My favorite thing in the world is mint chocolate chip ice cream with a nice drizzle of really good extra virgin olive oil — so you just never know! It’s also really good on a dark chocolate ice cream, preferably with a sprinkle of peanuts.
(Have to say that nobody else likes my ice cream)
This is such a wild combo, I’ve got to try it
I read about it somewhere and tried it and was immediately hooked.
That would be a battle royale of flavors for me – olive oil, mint and peanuts!! I’m guessing mint would win. 🙂
I would try all of this!
Thanks. One of the foods I’ve decided not to buy this year is ice cream. The pints were taking up space in my freezer and I ended up tossing all of them ack in early January.
😱😱😱!
I can’t quite imagine the olive oil with coffee. Is it more for mouth feel? Since it seems like the coffee flavor would overpower any subtleties in the olive oil. My husband loves butter in coffee, but it makes me gag a little.
Ew. I gagged a bit just reading about butter + coffee.
Ditto!
I’ve heard of coffee with butter but that seems worse than adding olive oil to coffee …
My Starbucks says it is not selling well. I love olive oil for dipping or for some cooking, but I can’t imagine drinking it. I don’t remember it being introduced in the past. Maybe it didn’t get here since I am sure I would have heard about it.
I just saw the laundry soap being advertised for BBW a few days ago, but do not know a thing about it. I use unscented products for my laundry.
Thanks. I wanted to try it when it was first introduced but my local Starbucks did not have it…now the Olive oil whipped topping is being featured.
I suppose I have to go the B&BW store to take peek at the laundry detergent.
It sounds ok to me but my friend has cautioned that people have had… Digestive issues from it. Not sure I believe it but there you go
I heard about the digestive issues but may be it’s individualized based on tolerance to certain foods. I don’t want to be a guinea pig!
Coffee + olive oil = Nope! Won’t try it.
But the pistachio latte at Starbucks sounded rather interesting. And I am not a coffee drinker, generally. Too much caffeine for my system.
I’m still on the fence about the olive oil topping.
As to the pistachio latte, I keep thinking of problems I’ve heard with hazelnut latte so I had been reluctant to try it. Clearly, I’ve put too much thought into Starbucks menu items 🤣.
Oh, and to answer the questions, I would try the Oleato if it was my first morning cup, just because I “need” coffee and that would fit the bill. But if I was just sipping for taste, I would want the familiar. RE: soap, I do not know. I change up between All and Tide and the scented and unscented of either.
The first cup may be a no-no for me because what if I don’t like it? Re: the soap – I will stop by the mall this weekend to do a look see.
Commando at the truck dealership. All my perfumes are in my camper which is at the dealership 20 miles away. Lifted it off yesterday and saw a bit of damage from rubbing against the truck by the tailgate area. I almost cried right then and there. 😭 Hoping to not be at the truck dealership all day but there’s quite a lineup already. Was told it “might take a while to diagnose.” I can feel more tears rising…First world problems. T-Rex is enthralled with another person in the waiting room and is being an attention seeking doggo missile. Luckily, most people are charmed by her rather than annoyed. She’s currently belly up to facilitate belly rubs by any and all passers by.
I will be smelling good after I get all my pieces connected again.
I hope both your truck and camper are easily and swiftly fixed ( once the work begins) and you can be on your way again. Good luck.
Well darn.
Hoping it’s something easily fixable.
So sorry you’re stuck at the dealership. And separated from all your perfumes! 😦
No, really, I hope you get it taken care of soon.
So frustrating! I hope it’s fixed soon and well.
I am sorry about your camper – maybe the dealer can advise about some sort of bushing. LOL her Dogness trying to cadge pets.
Hoping it’s not as bad as you fear!
Thinking of you Deva, hope this all got worked out as the day went on.
Dang. That’s rough. Sending you some automotive luck!
Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit..or should that be March hare ( here). So, March again, and it’s too dark to say what the day will bring but I’m meeting my friend in the herb garden later for a chat, and then will explore the Botanic gardens as the chrysanthemums should be flowering and I want to take photos. Wearing Ambre des Merveilles because if it’s good enough to see February out, it’s good enough to bring March in.
By the way, Robin, next Friday is international women’s day so a possible CP could be in honour of a woman who is important in your life? Female perfumer? Historical figure etc. Just a thought
What a great idea!
Great idea, I will go move Salt & Pepper to another week.
And, done.
Oh, you’re twins with Robin. And both of you smelling wonderful.
I’m home with a cold and ear infection that has given me the gift of vertigo. I “stagger like a drunken man” as the Bible says. I get more steps in that way – 3 left, 6 right, 2 ahead… Wearing Memo Granada because I can’t smell anything subtle.
Vertigo is so unsettling. I hope you don’t have to deal with stairs. 😵💫
I hope you’re not in pain, ear infections are horrible.
The pain has pretty much gone, but my hearing has been affected, and I hope that goes away soon.
Ouch to the ear infection. I hope you feel better soon.
Hope you are feeling better and walking straighter soon!
Oh no, I hope it goes away quickly!
Ugh, sorry ScentSpirit!
Yuck. Ear infections like that are horrid.
Feel better soon! My friend had vertigo before Christmas but she thinks it’s because of a cold she was developing at that time.
Thank you to all who wished me good memories yesterday of my mother. 🙂
Who loved Shalimar, Halston and Dana.
Up early for lab work, w/ Benjoin Boheme.
TOAST DAY ratz and I was fasting.
Maybe go downstairs and make some cinnamon sugar toast.
Then off to dentist to get new retainers.
Lovely picture today, Robin.
Oh I love cinnamon sugar toast.
My grandmother used to fry dough in cinnamon and sugar. It was so delicious.
So did my grandmother.
I think it comes in all cultures.
Oh, I haven’t had cinnamon sugar toast since before I moved! Maybe this weekend… 😋
Apple and yogurt smoothie
Spent the day in GM Galoré, quite an obscure perfume which resembles No 22, so I like it quite a bit and had an easy and cheap time purchasing as no one else was interested. Tonight it’s Habanita, the modern one.
I looked up Galore. It’s not very cheap here. Nice find!
Oh, funny that there can be differences between countries on prices, for eg vintage Halston is no longer cheap here while I expect there is a lot of bottles in the US, I got my bottle long before the series so it wasn’t expensive yet. Our ebayuk gets quite a lot of Les Exclusifs, the best and safest are the slightly used ones or ex display so you can get them from between £170 and £200 (Le Lion and Coromandel are more expensive) well it’s still a lot of money for me, I got my 75ml Cuir de Russie bottle 80% full for £35 4 years ago, but like everything prices have crept up.
75mL of Cuir de Russie for 35 pounds?!? That’s freaking amazing!
Yes, that was lucky for sure but it’s a very austere perfume, I have to be in the right frame of mind to wear it, very elegant though. I wear Jersey and BdI more.
Good morning from Sydney! I have tested a few perfumes so far, but no great temptation yet. It’s at least partly due to having a lot of perfume, I tried a few things that were very nice, but similar to things I already have – money saved.
It was a hot and humid day yesterday, and we were very grateful for air-conditioning. That’s not generally how it is in Wellington 🙂
Glad you made it and hope you have a great day today. At least the exchange rate is not too bad at the moment if you do find something.
Hope you guys are having a lovely time!
I had to wear my perfume that has made me happy all winter at least once this week so am in Shalimar MI today.
Great idea!
R.I.P Richard Lewis. He was one of my first stand up crushes. I was going to post some of his clips but I am at work and don’t have time atm. I might later.
My sotd is Mugler Aura. It’s cool and sunny here.
Oh, wow, I hadn’t heard about Richard Lewis yet. 😞
I loved him. He always had that deadpan look 😊
Warmer weather is headed your way!
His face looked familiar when I saw the news.
Are you wearing the EDP or EDT, unless I am confusing it with another Mugler.
Wearing TF Café Rose today, which is one of my favorites. We just had the same crashing temps here today as many have already experienced, plus wind at 22mph. Brr. I think I will make another soup for dinner tonight.
Smelling good Ann.
Ugh, steady winds like that get old fast.
After going commando for the dentist first thing this morning, I’m in Nomenclature Minted as I hope for some green to start poking through the soil around here. I’m hoping it won’t be too offensive for the teen’s doctor appointment this afternoon. (It’s basically two full days of doctor, dentist and orthodontist appointments around here.)
I had the dentist this morning too. I am always going to go unscented, but then always have to put on something.
Wearing Rauque today which definitely makes me happy.
Oh, and that adorable photo of a rabbit in the grass🌈
You’re not alone there! Smelling fantabulous.
I’m really enjoying Rauque but feel very pressured that it’s LE. I can’t tell if I really want it or if I would just regret missing the opportunity to buy it while it’s available.
Dang, that should be for Allo.
Got it! I know what you mean about the LE factor. If it makes a difference, I will be splitting a bottle at the next splitmeet.
Ah, I’ll be sure to look out for it!
SOTD is Violette Volynka.
Has anyone tried the new Hermessence, Oud Alezan? I’m curious, not so much for the oud, but for the rose.
I have not, and haven’t seen it mentioned here either.
Today I’m wearing Luciano Soprani Uomo – sprayed from an old bottle – early 90s, I think. I love a bunch of these classic (and classy) Italian scents for gentlemen that were popular in the 1980s – Gian Marco Venturi, Trussardi, Basile, Gianfranco Ferré, R by Capucci… They all have a bit of that 80s hairy-chested vibe, though there’s an elegance to all of them. They’re probably descendants of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, though none are quite as good.
That sounds like a very fun collection, though I am not familiar with with many gentlemen’s scents. I have and love the ladies’ version of Ferre. You also reminded me that I have a languishing mini of Capucci de Capucci – thanks, and I just might wear it tomorrow.
That’s another good one!
That original PR was swoon-worthy! I don’t know the others, but if I get the opportunity, I will check them out.
They all have the PR citrus/herbal opening, with plenty of oak moss and vetiver notes – some are more leathery than others in the dry down. Most are discontinued, and if they’re still available they’ve been reformulated. But you can find older bottles on eBay at decent prices.
And, yes, the original pre-reformulation Paco Rabanne Pour Homme is swoon-worthy!😊
Vamp à New York, the cheerfullest tuberose in my collection.
Love today’s rabbit!
I love love Vamp, one of the few tuberose I actually enjoy wearing all day.
Enjoying a sunny day in the very powerful body cream of Mugler Over the Musk. I topped it off with a dab or two of Champs Elysees, but the Mugler won! Later, I found my decant of Over the Musk epd from a lovely NST’er and will add that for our Thursday night dinner out. Off to read comments.
Hey, MossyBerry! Thanks for mentioning the barrel aged breakfast tea the other day. Smith’s tea is having a leap day sale today, so I ordered some. Can’t wait to try it.
Do report on how you like it – I have been a coffee drinker only for years, but I am learning to appreciate tea and figuring out how I like it brewed. Big discovery is that while I like coffee that is very fresh and strong enough to stand on its own, I seem to taste lightly steeped and re-steeped teas better!
Oh, I bet that Mugler body cream is wonderful.
It is – and it’s disappearing over the horizon. FragranceNet is out and prices are going up on Ebay. I have a good bit left, so I decided to enjoy it while it lasts.
I saw a Monarch butterfly today and that made my morning. I’m wearing Stash. Great rabbit photo today, also.
Monarch butterflies are gorgeous. I love seeing them, too. 🦋
I’ve been in all-day offsite meetings the last 3 days + 2 work dinners, which is way too much Peopling for this introvert. I’m so drained.
I wore Bois des Iles on day 1, but went commando the last 2 days because I just forgot, even though I did pack Bois and Cuir de Russie, two of my favorite “has got her 💩 together Lady Boss” scents.
Having dinner with a scent-phobic friend before I drive home, so will remain commando until tomorrow.
That is an awful lot of peopling! Hope you get rest tomorrow.
Santa Maria Novella Marescialla
That’s a cool one, I have a decant somewhere.
Happy Leap Day NST!
Great day today! Sunny and in the low 60’s here. An unexpected arrival of the new radiator this afternoon. I figured it would have been here Friday or Saturday at the earliest. So I am driving over to my brother’s to have him put it in tomorrow. He said it should take an hour or so. He’s replaced several radiators in his own vehicles.
Even better, I had lunch with springpansy this afternoon! We swapped a few samples, and had a wonderful conversation. Hope that her flight back to WA state is a smooth one.
SOTD = EL White Linen Legacy EdP. This might be my favorite in the sample set. Is it love? Probably not. But I will enjoy it while it lasts.
Also still using the Boyfriend Body Creme on my shins. Looks like I have a smidge that will go into March.
Yay for perfumed meet-n-greets! I also liked and accepted the idea that we all got an extra day today. 😀 I am still thinking about my EL Legacy samples…
Knowing Legacy and Azuree Legacy were just OK. Which was a bummer. I had great expectations for those 2.
I probably shouldn’t be driving due to my lack of car knowledge … I hope AAA never goes out of business!
As to the new EL set, I was at the mall on Tuesday and happened to pass by the EL counter. The SA had no clue about the re-issue!
I am still learning things about cars. I haven’t figured out how to shift a manual transmission without a clutch yet. It can be done….
Sounds like a wonderful day, and seems you are settling down in CO. Good luck with the radiator installation, your brother is a treasure.
Oh what a nice day! I would love a meet-up irl. Hope you had fun with your brother.
Very late today. Wore Angel Elixir today and it really is as disappointing as I was led to believe. 🤣 Can it be that lackluster?…I thought. It can, friends…it can.
February really was the blink of an eye this year. Been busy at work this week w/ deadlines for Fri 3/1 so haven’t posted much but each day I generally do read the poll and every day when I see the rabbit pics I have thought…OMG oh no, is it Friday already??? eheheheh then phew like Groundhog Day…I must be ready for tomorrow…I need luck and those 🐇 🐇 🐇
To be fair, Angel Elixir isn’t really bad but given name, alleged goal as a flanker and modern world of perfume w/ hundreds of perfumes we are living…it’s a complete cluster. To think highly paid people at L’Oréal developed it, got buy in and then released is quite sad. Maybe some of us NSTers should start a niche perfume incubator company…we could come up w/ a better new Angel flanker methinks…I shall propose this idea again in tomorrow’s thread too ehaeheh 😉
Sorry, fooled everybody with a week of rabbits!
I loved the Angel Liqueur whatever it was called, years ago, and Angel Muse. So it can be done!
Damn right…and that’s why you should be on the board of the NST perfume incubator company which will be an LLC in case we get sued by L’Oréal. 😁
And indeed we will be sued!
