It's Monday and National Pistachio Day. Birthdays: Victor Hugo, Levi Strauss, Jackie Gleason, Fats Domino, Johnny Cash. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Vilhelm Parfumerie Purple Fig.
Reminder: On 3/1, Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's March. Wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello.
Sotd is Babycat.
Dunno what I’ll be wearing on Friday but I can do with some good luck for March!
You smell great! I need some good luck in March too.
Me three! Send on the good luck!
Today I’m in CdG Carnation, the spiciest, carnationiest thing ever.
I decided when the new year rolled around that I was going to try to wear every fragrance in my collection, and I was writing the scents down in my journal, but after a couple of months it gets increasingly time-consuming to check for repeats, so I made a spreadsheet. Only one repeat so far — I’ve worn Habanita twice. At some point during the year I should have a complete list of everything I own. (Is this weird? It feels sensible to me but I’m maybe not the best judge.)
I think it’s great if you can do it. I have too many and still haven’t finished cataloging. I got to 845 and ran out of steam.
Quite the collection!
Doesn’t seem weird at all. Sounds very organized, but I love lists and order.🤓
I love making lists so it seems like a great way to get your fragrances itemized.
That doesn’t sound weird to me either. I did something very similar during our big Covid lock down in 2020.
I think it sounds commendable! That’s something I’ve started a few times but never finished. Would love to hear that you’ve done it. ⭐️
It’s not weird, or so says this weirdo. But then I have a spreadsheet of everything, from my full bottles down to my samples.
It’s a VERY LARGE spreadsheet.
Yes, I have a problem. But I know I’m among friends here.
I pulled my Parfum d’Empire bag out of my decant box today, and will wear these all week. First up is Cuir Ottoman, which is not my favorite from the brand, mainly because I’m not a fan of leather.
I do like leather but did not fall in love with that one.
I also like leather and Parfum d’Empire, but Cuir Ottoman smelled like the inside of a shoe store to me.
I am in Frederic Malle Lipstick Rose.
Happy Monday! 🌹
Beautiful pl67!🌻
Thank you, Lillyjo!🌹
You smell fabulous!
Thank you, Daniel!
Happy Monday and almost the end of Februweary! Winter is getting close to being over. One more month and then I’m heading back to Montréal for the summer. I’m wearing Blend Oud Sana, which has no oud and is a yummy gourmand. I also had a chocolate croissant for breakfast. 🙂 New washing machine coming at noon today, crossing fingers it is mechanically sound and I will be happy with it for many years to come.
I can’t believe I never thought of Febuweary! Lol.
Yes, fingers crossed! May I ask what brand? We are due for a new one. I have despised our front loader almost from the beginning.
We hated our front loader too. It was really hard to find a top-loading replacement with an agitator. Finally went with a Maytag and I’m reasonably happy. My mom has a top-loading Speed Queen washer, but it’s a commercial machine — my family’s business is washers and dryers for apartment complexes so Mom had an in.
Thanks SheriG. Maytag seems to be in many laundromats so I’m guessing they are made to last long. We will probably go with Speed Queen when it’s time. Made right here in WI! They don’t have all the fancy bells and whistles but seem to be real work horses made for the long haul.👍🏻
I have a stackable Speedqueen washer and dryer and love them. They are laundromat models and are great for big loads. How we have so much laundry for 2 people is beyond me.
It’s an LG front loader. I have been very happy with the one I have in Montréal so I ordered another one for the house in San Diego. The old one we are replacing is a Maytag top loader, which has been good, but because machines use so little water nowadays I feel like the front loader gets the clothes cleaner with less wear on the fabrics. I like Maytag and LG brands best in general but that’s just what I’ve had luck with.
Glad you’ve had good luck, hope the new one is just as good!👍🏻
Hope that washing machine lives up to expectations.
Everything OK with your new washer?
So far so good, ran a test load last night. I’m not crazy about the tinted glass door because I can’t see inside, but I guess I’ll get used to it.
I’m in LL Bergamote 22. Starting to crave spring and summer scents. We are supposed to hit 60 today and 65 tomorrow. Then a 40 degree drop overnight. Welcome to Wisconsin. 😂
Same in Montréal. Warm front followed closely by a cold front. Can you say ice? Ugh.
We’re expecting the same weather this week, it’s already almost 60F. I might open the window for the cat later.
Sounds like New England!
Similar weather here in Colorado. A dusting of snow (latest forecast) is expected for tomorrow.
I’m wearing H24 EdP from Hermès. I didn’t much care for it when I first tried it a year ago, but it’s growing on me – now I kind of dig it.
My daughter, a budding perfumista, is visiting from Portland, and we’re planning a field trip to Scent Bar on Beverly Boulevard – she’s never been. Lucky for me, she’s very understanding of her Fragrance Evangelist father.
How lovely! If she enjoys it you should send her to Fumerie in Portland. The owner Tracy is great.
She introduced me to Fumerie! It’s such a lovely shop, and I go every time I’m in Portland.
That sounds so nice. My husband always took our daughter perfume shopping when she was growing up, but just to department stores. A trip to LS will be special!
How lovely to share that interest with your daughter, have a great time.
Thanks, Aurora.😊
How wonderful! I’ve never been to LA, but I love Fumerie as well! LS NYC was also excellent.
Sounds awesome!
Oh, this sounds like a dream outing. I would love to share my love of scent with a friend or family member! Alas, none have converted yet.
I have a dental appointment this morning to fit my new crown and afterward I’ll be wearing Akro Bake. The mountains are getting dumped with snow but nothing at my house.
Hope all goes well at the dentist.
Oh my, I am your dental appointment twin, at 1 pm (soon)! I dread it. I got halfway through getting prepared for two new crowns with the temporary crowns fitted and then my jaw locked in the “out” position and I could not manage to stay in the chair. What a nightmare (I have TMJ). So my dentist didn’t quite finish the molds for the new permanent crowns and I’ll go through all the awful Novocain shots today and have to do it all again in a few weeks when the new crowns come in. I feel your pain (almost literally!) and hope yours goes well.
I am wearing just a dab of my Initio Devil Tender on one wrist.
My appointment went fine, I hope yours wasn’t too bad.
I’m wearing Clair de Musc for a pre op appointment today. Will change to Commodity Milk+ later, there was a sizey deluxe sample in the February Allure box and I haven’t really tried it yet. It might have the dreaded Ambroxan.
I limped through Walmart this morning and found some loose crop pants on sale so now I’m ready for physical therapy. My surgeon spent a lot of time talking about the amount of pain after surgery, and that I should be aware of what I’m up against. I wasn’t nervous about it but I am now, a little.
How do you like the Allure box? I’ve thought about getting a subscription for my daughter.
My daughter gave me the Allure box subscription for a year 😊I have really enjoyed it although of course some months are better than others. You do get at least 3 full size items in every box which is a good deal imo. Now I’m mildly obsessed with skincare, the hair stuff goes to my husband.
Thank you!
What is your surgery–a joint replacement? I wish you much luck and success with it. I am sure you’ll get painkillers to help you at least at first, and then I hope it will improve soon.
My left knee and I’ve been thinking of you!
Did you not have a knee replacement previously? I’ve heard wonderful things about this surgery and you will be glad to have it done!
I can’t wait to get it over with. I had my other knee replacement in ’13 and I know the procedure has really changed.
Hope that your pre-op appointment went well today.
I really need to get a small sample of just Ambroxan to prove this is the note I hate. I’ve been thinking about this for a while.
Saw the rabbits and thought I got swept up in a time warp and it was March 1st already! 😅 I’m worried about my brain because I got my auto tag and registration last week and put them in a “safe place” until it stopped raining and I could place the tag. Went to do just that the next day and can’t find the 🤬 tag anywhere. Had to order a duplicate set which they will not order tracking for, so I’m sitting on pins and needles hoping it gets here before my current tag expires. See what I mean about my brain?!
I’m wearing DSH Chinchilla today. My travel spray is half gone, and while it’s a delightful scent I probably won’t replace it.
The sky is an ominous leaden grey, hanging low and unleashing a bunch of snow and frozen mix just east of where I am. 37F but thankfully no wind! I hope everything stays east of me. Or north or south or west…anywhere except where I am! 😉
I had that same reaction to seeing the rabbit!
😄
Sorry guys! Week of rabbits coming up just to keep you confused.
Crossing fingers for your weather and the tag🍀
Thanks! I need all the luck I can get! ☘️
You’re smelling great in Chinchilla! Have you tried any of her other vintage-y perfumes? Foxy has been on my sample list for ages.
No, I haven’t. There is just SO much on her site I don’t know where to start. I think the only reason I bought Chinchilla is because someone here on NST sent me a sample and I liked it so much I ordered a travel size.
I have the same reaction to DSH.
Same for me with the rabbit this morning!
Stay safe from the weather!
We are expecting some storms here tomorrow night. I started worrying 2 days ago.
Wicked winds here today! My car was getting shoved around on the Interstate. I can only imagine what the drivers in high profile vehicles were feeling. 😮😱
I have a lot of choice for the CP this week, to me perfume is all about happiness – except when I anguish over whether to buy something, which admittedly is a lot of the time 🙂
I’m wearing Adieu Sagesse, and thank you to all those who suggested I also get Vacances, but it seems I’m too late for that one. Lots of places that post here show it as sold out, but I’ll keep my eyes open.
We are house (and collection) twins as I’m wearing Que sais-je. I love Adieu Sagesse. I recently got three of this collection at a great price. Unfortunately for you, they don’t ship to NZ. They do ship to most of the EU countries, would that help at all? They still have Vacances.
I’ve been so intrigued when I’ve seen this collection mentioned. What was the other one you got? Chaldee? Which is your favorite?
I bought Vacances ages ago, and that one is still my favourite. This time I got Deux Amours, Qué sais-je and Adieu Sagesse. They were very heavily discounted and are no longer in production, so after a few days of deliberation I decided to get them.
As I mentioned in my response to austenfan, I’m intrigued by the Patou heritage collection. Which are your favorites?

Love this fruity frankincense!

I mentioned potentially getting qualified to be a mediator. There’s a 40 hour basic training course that I am seriously contemplating. It is 5 days over a 2-week period. The cost ($320 per day) for this would be unexpected; however, I feel that it doesn’t hurt to take the course as part of qualifying to be a mediator. I will think about it over the next few days and I am close to registering for it. The best part? One does not have to be a lawyer to qualify!
Has anyone here been a mediator and/or know someone who is? What are your thoughts?
My question is: is there a demand for mediators at this point? In what particular category or field? Can it be done remotely? And what is the compensation like? $320 per day is quite a bit of money for training imo. Does this get you the certification you would need to start? …It would be worth it if demand and compensation are on the higher end.
Other things to consider are: who would likely be hiring you as a mediator? How large is that market? and Do you have the other qualifications/experience that market will be looking for. For example, back when I was at a law firm, if one of my clients was looking to mediate an environmental pollution issue, we would consider mediators who were former judges (and for matters involving 9-figures+, we might limit that to former federal judges), or if there were highly technical/scidentific issues, we would consider scientists (hydrogeologists, biochemists, etc.) who had experience performing remediation on similar issues. In other words, the mediator certification was the minimum qualification, and it was the other qualifications/experience that would lead us to hire one mediator over another. If your area of expertise is relatively niche and there are a lot of disputes that require that type expertise as part of mediation, then go for it!

Thanks for that link, very helpful. 😊
It’s almost 60 degrees in my neck of the woods and have a 20 minute phone minute in a few minutes so I am commando for that. Afterwards, it’s either going to be Jicky or Infusion d’Iris. I want something a little more soothing to my nerves.
Hope your meeting went well!
Frozen mango and yogurt smoothie
It’s a bit colder this week but it was sunny. I reached for Cinéma,. haven’t worn it in a while as I prefer it in early spring, it’s a yellow scent for me and makes me think of almond blossom and tonight it’s Balenciaga Rumba, a powerhouse, baroque perfume which I got on clearance, 100ml, it was £9.99 says the box, prices like this won’t happen again.
I have almost purchased Rumba several times, your “baroque” description is perfect.
It’s quite unique I find and still relatively affordable too, if you do buy it Balenciaga version is the one to go for.
In Shalimar millesime vanilla planifolia. I haven’t worn it in a long time and it’s lovely.
I’m in between weight lifting machines at the gym- hoping to get into a routine with gym and pool as I feel a bit like a bear preparing for hibernation- not good!
Good luck keeping that gym routine! I have been pretty good now about 3 times a week, but I am doing yoga & sauna, which is a far cry easier than weights & pool.
I do weights at home but I ought to check out the machines at the gym, I have not done that in years.
Thanks Robin! Yoga is an amazing strength exercise though – I used to come back home with DOMS when I did it regularly!
Well, and you inspired me…I did a few machines after QiGong today 🙂
Dental work today. Its no fun
I wore a little mon Guerlain lotion
Bon courage! You smell great.
Hope it went well.
Sorry! Hope it was not too bad.
Testing Donna Karan Cashmere and Palo Santo today.
Can smell the peach opening…nice… and then onto cashmeran. Will file report for you investigative nose journalists later today or tomorrow. Definitely a winter weather scent for me.
Spent three hours weeding my courtyard yesterday and oye my back is feeling my age today. The weeds were as high as a buffalos eye due to the rains and we have more coming so I took advantage of a dry afternoon.
Attended a four year olds birthday party, too. And drove from one end of Los Angeles to the other and back in order to do so. It was a great reminder of why I love LA. Listened to Sunburn by Laura Lippman along the way, a good fast book.
Things are moving along for the Executive Fellowship role.
I was actually asked to interview for a second fellowship position, so I am crossing fingers and toes that one will be for me.
Final interviews take place the week of March 18.
Good luck for the job!
New developments sound promising! 👍🏻🤞🏻
🤞good luck!
I’ve only ever seen Los Angeles traffic on TV. I couldn’t do it.
( and I mostly see it on 70’s TV shows so it’s probably worse now. Lol)
Many years ago I used to weed my patio by spraying tons of roundup on the bricks…I almost miss being that innocent!
Yay for a second interview!
I have a boatload of weeding ahead of me, too, for the same reasons, but probably won’t be able to get to it until a few weekends from now.
🍀🍀🍀 for next round of interviews!
Wearing the beautiful Que sais-je by Patou, at least I smell glamourous!
One of the Patous I don’t think I ever smelled, but I am sure you do!
Had an outpatient procedure this morning, but I couldn’t resist a bit of perfume comfort, so it was a tiny spritz of L’Heure Bleue. All went well, and it was good news – no follow-up needed! Call me relieved.
I’m glad you’re okay and you got the result immediately.
Thanks, foxbins! Anesthesia is a wonderful thing. You wake up, and it’s all over! 😊
Especially if you get propofol! I never woke feeling so rested and relaxed. Ever! I can totally understand why MJ liked it.
🙂I don’t know what it was. MJ?
I’m so glad your procedure went well and there’s no need for follow-up. There’s nothing quite like relief after a medical appointment😌🌸
Thanks, allo. ❤️
Very happy for you of your good health news.
Thanks so much.
So glad it went well!
Thank you ☺️
Yay!
☺️
Great news! All’s well that ends well, for sure.
Yep! Thanks, Jalapeno.
I spritzed Infusion d’Iris this morning and am definitely starting the week feeling happy😀
Yay for happy!
💃
I went with Daphne by L’Aromatica today since the daphne flowers are blooming all over my neighborhood. I can’t go anywhere without smelling those delightful blossoms (yay)!
Yay! I don’t think I have ever smelled Daphne.
I never had until I moved to the PNW about 10 years ago. They’re clusters of small blossoms that smell very lemony, sweet, and sharp mostly to my nose. I love how you can smell them in the air a good 10 feet away.
So jealous! I don’t think the ones around here will bloom for another month at least.
How lovely! Makes me miss DelRae, although at this hour I can’t remember the name of the perfume…and I’m so tired I’m not sure I have the brand right either. Off to bed soon!
Yes, Wit!🌸
Wit! Right, the one I should have bought 🙂
I was in Atelier Silver Iris today.
And you smell gorgeous!
I didn’t know the cp when I spritzed this morning but I wore Narciso White Cube. I still love it so it’s pretty lucky I bought the huge bottle.
🙂
Really late posting today. I discovered my car had a radiator leak this afternoon, and got in touch with my brother. He and I were looking at it, and planning what to do next. The car is still currently drivable (fingers crossed).
SOTD = back in Wrappings Legend today.
I know nothing about car radiators but I hope it’s an easy and cheap fix!🤞
First thing is find & get a replacement radiator. Then someone will have to install it.
The leak seems to be rather small right now, and just started in the past couple of days, from what I can figure.
Good luck!
Late, late post. Commando most of the day, then threw on Twilly, which was the 2nd bottle I purchased after falling down the rabbit hole. It doesn’t stand out in my collection, now, though.
I tried the first flanker (ginger), hated it (some horrible wood note), haven’t tried any of the other flankers yet.
I might give it away, but it does serve a nostalgic, “see how your perfume tastes have evolved” purpose.
Nice choice! I like Twilly quite a bit, although I seldom wear it. As a collector, I would say, don’t give it away yet! 😁 Or if you decide to, make yourself a small decant to keep first.
