Happy Almost-Friday! It's also the 11th day of Christmas (pipers piping) and World Braille Day. Birthdays: Sir Isaac Newton and Michael Stipe. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Poudrée, just because I thought it matched the promotional image for Pantone Peach Fuzz shown above.
Reminder: on 1/5, wear a fragrance to match Peach Fuzz, Pantone's color of the year for 2024. "PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a velvety gentle peach whose all-embracing spirit enriches heart, mind, and body. Subtly sensual, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz is a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of kindness and tenderness, communicating a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration. A warm and cozy shade highlighting our desire for togetherness with others or for enjoying a moment of stillness and the feeling of sanctuary this creates, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz presents a fresh approach to a new softness. An appealing peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz inspires belonging, recalibration, and an opportunity for nurturing, conjuring up an air of calm, offering us a space to be, feel, and heal and to flourish from."
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Goutal Musc Nomade. Soft and fuzzy.
Nice choice. Very appropriate for the CP.
Hello.
Sotd is EL Tuscany Per Donna. Gorgeous, warm scent. It always makes me smile when I wear it. The juice happens to be peach fuzz coloured too.
I ordered some body care things and amongst them was a lip mask from Laneige (I heard a lot of good things). When I opened the pot to use it, it had already been used! A chunk of the balm was missing and finger prints were so clearly present. Ew! I contacted customer service and sent pics. Apparently, they need to “consult” with the shipment department and get back to me in 24 hours…for a solution for a tub of lip balm.
Ew! That sounds like a no brainer for a return. 24 hrs is crazy.
What? Ew, no!
Disgusting much? They should include two for the trauma of the experience!
You smell wonderful – Tuscany per Donna is almost perfect to me. I find it to be a variation on Samsara edt, different but equally pleasing to me. I have both the Aramis and the Estee Lauder versions in vintage. I can’t say for sure I tested the new bottle version, but I’d guess it was good, too.
Love this one. It’s supposed to be full of sandalwood in vintage and also to be close in style to Laura Biagiotti Venezia. I like the LB more but I can see the similarity.
Good to know; I’ve lurked around auctions for Venezia more than once.
This was one of my teenage perfumes, along with Samsara. Circa 1990. Not sure if that would have been Aramis or EL. I’d almost completely forgotten about it, except for the shape of that bottle, the color of the juice, and the copper cap. Searched through old perfume ads to figure it out. Haven’t acquired it again, should look
Hopefully you can test the current version at a counter near you! A vintage bottle could be iffy, though I’d not hesitate to pick one up at a thrift shop.
I’m in Element 79 from Beauty Pie. BP describes this scent as “ A scent of pure gold: bright, warm, and exceptionally sunny. A radiant, golden blend of Milky Fig, Iris and Orange Flowers, with a hint of ripe Peach freshness and Patchouli, Sandalwood and Vanilla for sophistication. Bright, laid-back and full of sunshine.”
It’s lovely! I could see it working really well in the late spring/early summer weather.
Tonight is my older daughter’s last night home. She and I will head to the twin cities tomorrow. Yesterday in my sleep deprived state I was feeling quite emotional about it, but I slept well last night and today I am feeling *okay*. Amazing what a good night of sleep can do.
I’ll be staying with my cousin and I’m looking forward to our visit. She has a cat (and I am allergic) so I’m wondering if Claritin or Zyrtec would be better…anyone with experience with cat allergies and which works better?
For short term you might actually want to go with Benedryl.
Good suggestion, as Benadryl does work really well, but I can’t (and won’t) take it because of how it makes me feel. It turns me into a zombie and I am completely useless lol. I’d rather suffer with my allergies than feel like that.🤣
fair enough – I find the children’s dosage is good for a quick response and doesn’t knock me flat.
Sure, that makes sense. It’s interesting, my youngest daughter (18) is completely unfazed by Benadryl but my older daughter (23) gets knocked out just like me.
Puts me straight to sleep, too
Mr. Ockeghem usually takes Claritin when his cat allergy acts up (we have one and he’s usually okay, but once in a while it gets to him).
Good to know. I’m thinking that may be my first choice since it sounds like it’s the longer acting one.
Zyrtec has worked for me in the past, and I would advise taking it ahead of time.
Also good to know, thanks!
Reactine aka ceritizine hydrochloride works wonders for me — pet and seasonal allergies just go away and don’t trouble me. I tried all the OTC allergy remedies and it’s the only one that does anything, but it does everything.
Thanks. I think that’s the active ingredient in Zyrtec.
I did not know that! I just buy the generic anyway so other than Reactine I didn’t know any other brands.
Can’t help with the allergies, but you smell pretty!
Thanks! Have you tried this one? I really like it!!
I haven’t. On My way to look it up!
I slept well last night too, yay! It makes such a difference in your outlook on life.
Yay! And yes, SUCH a difference!
Good morning. I had planned something peachy, but mood zagged to the hard opposite of today’s CP.
Instead, I went with Dryad (and my attire involves vintage Yamamoto & combat boots).
Do not mess with me people.
🤣🤣🤣, and you smell gorgeous!
LOL!
You sound fierce. 🙂
As it turns out, today *definitely* required some fierceness. Peach fuzziness would have been so wrong.
I grabbed an unused sample of OJ Woman from my sample grab bag. I like it, and it is appropriate to our coolish weather today.
Oh, reminds me I should have worn OJ Osmanthus this week…I think it smells like the peach fuzz color.
I have two peachy scents and I saved them for the end of the week. Today it’s Guerlain Mitsouko, mysterious and complex: it always makes me happy.
Happy is always the right pick.
I am wearing Lancome Tresor for the CP. This is one of my bottles that I barely reach for these days, but when I do, I enjoy it immensely.
Happy Thursday! 🍑
I love Tresor but it does not love me back. It’s nice to smell it on someone else.
Same here, ringthing. Tresor is overwhelming and wears me.
Tresor is a challenging scent. I only wear it in tiny amounts. Whatever is left in the bottle will last for years.
You smell lovely!
Thank you, Lillyjo! 🌻
After I couldn’t find my beloved Je Reviens in the late 80s/90s, I wore Tresor in the parfum concentration (yes, those two are very different from each other). I would find a little bottle under the tree each Christmas. I wore just a drop and thought it was wonderful, but it gradually seemed to change and I changed in my preferences and on we go. I should try it again to see how I feel about it now.
It did change, unfortunately, and more than once. I had a bottle when it was launched and remember it vividly: it was pure Sophia Grojsman magic. I smelled a new bottle the other day and it’s actually not bad, but it is really not the same. (There was a drastic reformulation years ago that among other changes added a sharp note to the top which ruined it, I thought: what I smelled the other day was much better.) You might like the most recent reformulation.
My small bottle is from the 90s, and it smells glorious. But I only wear a tiny spritz, which is more than enough. That way, it doesn’t overwhelm me.
I couldn’t make up my mind and finally grabbed Allure edt for the CP points. This is generally a spring/summer scent but it smells happy and I need that today. My mom’s caretaker has covid and she’s the one who does the cleaning and laundry, and my husband is still sick so it’s up to me and I’m kind of over it lol. Fortunately my mom is feeling great.
On a better note, as of yesterday I’ve lost 80lbs. Two more pounds hits my original Noom goal but I’d really like to lose another 20, so I’ll keep plodding along.
Congratulations on reaching —that is tremendous. And you smell wonderful.
*on reaching goals
Congratulations!
I hope you are able to get some free time soon.
Thanks lillyjo.
Wow ringthing, nice work!! Maybe the cleaning and laundry can wait just a little longer!
Congrats on the loss! Here I am contemplating a 10 lb loss and chickening out.
You can do it! I have fought my weight my entire life and had just about decided I would stop trying when I was diagnosed with pre diabetes (my father and sister were/are diabetic) and gave Noom a try. It really has been a life changer.
Congratulations, ringthing!
Thanks AnnE!
Bravo!
That is fantastic ringthing.
Thanks Robin.
Wow! Congratulations. It’s so hard.
This last part is taking forever.
I’m in HdP 1969 today, and am asking myself the classic question…why don’t I wear this more often?? The peach, spices and patch blend is so wonderful.
Think I’ll walk outside today instead of on the elliptical, since the weather will be gorgeous. Tomorrow will be rainy, so it’s time to get some vitamin D.
Happy Thursday, all! 🤗
“Why don’t I wear this more often?” Should be the title of a perfumista guide book.
Or a cp?😀
Agree with both!
Yes!
Ooo, I forgot that had peach in it. Might have to do that for the CP tomorrow!
Oh, I LOVE that photo! Stunning!
I’m in the mood for Shalimar MVP today, so three sprays it is! Rained and was soggy and cold yesterday, but the sun is out in full force today! 🌞
I like the photo too…and I could think of lots of pale powdery scents that matched.
Wearing Greenwitch again, which certainly isn’t peach but I’m a bit enchanted with it lately.
I ordered a sample on your recommendation, and it’s lovely! I’m also enjoying her Chaparral and Q.
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s a bit of an underappreciated line in my opinion, everything I’ve tried has been beautiful.
Another new year, another resolution to get through the sample backlog. This morning I’m trying out Amouage Crimson Rocks on one arm (cinnamon-Barbie-head?), and DSH Je Suis La Lune on the other. The latter seems wonderful, but SO light — I’ll need to dump most of the sample vial on myself later in order to really get the gist of it.
Cinnamon Barbie head! That almost makes me perversely want to try it.
My SOTD is Mojave Ghost from a small sample bottle. I chose it because I find it “soft and cozy,” like the Pantone Peach Fuzz description. I looked hard at that photograph trying to determine what it shows–a flower? Or possibly the feathers of a certain sort of bird? In any case it’s very beautiful.
I’ve got to do errands and pay bills today, then go visit my mom. It’s a day to do duties. But I may go eat a nice meal somewhere for a late lunch. For some reason I haven’t been feeling much like cooking lately. I hope I get my kitchen mojo back.
https://birdlife.org.au/bird-profiles/pink-cockatoo/
I immediately thought “ Pink cockatoo” when I saw the photo and then Zoologist, for the perfume. Don’t know if I’m right though! I hope all your errands and visit go well
I assumed the photo was computer generated, but I have no idea.
I’m in Goldfield & Banks Sunset Hour today for the CP. It’s been pouring rain all night and is still going…I could use to see a sunset!
Perfect choice
SOTD is Aromatics in White. It’s calming and cozy to me.
I thunked a very pretty Kusmi tea caddy today. I’m very excited to use it for storing samples! Fragrance samples and tea are two things that multiply like rabbits in my house, it’s cracking me up that I’m using one to corral the other.
This sounds like you are tackling new year’s resolutions, even if you are not using the phrase!
I love Kusmi tins 🙂
For the CP, I dug out my bottle of Barbara Bui Le Parfum. This is such a good one and smells very much like the 2000s to me. I think the soft clean and woody musk is a good fit for Peach Buzz, but beyond that I was inspired by the colors of the packaging. The inside of the box is pretty much exactly the color of Peach Fuzz and the juice also is a similar hue. The outside of the box features it as one of its colors. I think I bought this 100ml bottle for $30 or $40 back in 2010-2011 timeframe. Today 30ml is going for $140 on eBay. Le sigh.
Lol just saw my typo/autocorrect to Peach Buzz, which I think is a funny name. Is that like being tipsy off peaches?
😄
I love me a good peach buzz!
Wow, I can’t believe your post – you took ALL the words right out of my mouth! Even down to the price you paid! I love everything about this fragrance and often wear just a tiny bit for my yoga classes – it’s so calming. I’ll be wearing this one tomorrow. You smell wonderful!
Thank you! It really is such a nice, easy perfume.
Gosh, almost forgot about that one! You smelled great today.
I forget about it most of the time too! And thanks.
Wearing an oldie, Ombre Rose. It smells like light peach to me.
You smell great. This one is sooo good and I rarely see it mentioned. Roses and other florals lashed with loads of woods.
Still in my DSH samples from my recent order. Later I’m planning to wear VC&A Bois d’Iris. This morning I finished my 108 sun salutations from the Five Parks Yoga New Year’s Challenge. I got 2/3 of the way through on the first day, and really wanted to complete it. Doing 36 today was about the right amount.
Three of our five “house guests” (but really they were our grownup kids plus partners and grandson) were sick over Christmas while here and Mr. SP also got sick. Despite holding a baby who coughed in my face fairly often and being around the others, I seem to have escaped the virus and am very happy about that. Maybe the baby just has little germs? 😉
I hope you stay well and everyone else is ok soon. Congrats on the 🌞 salutations. We usually do five or so in my yoga classes and that’s enough for me!
Good for you!
SOTD = Tom Ford Bitter Peach
It’s out there in the universe that I dislike peach in perfume notes; however, since today is my Friday (so I can participate in the Joy Box project tomorrow), I have decided to wear this today. I do like the color and packaging, including its magnetic cap.

For the candle burners, what is the best way to clean out a container? I have several that are in their last legs and would like to reuse them for other than candle stuff, no food. Would it differ if the container is metal vs. glass? Thank you.
I think if you freeze the candle container the remaining wax is fairly easy to get out. I like that TF packaging as well. Very sleek. It’s just the rest of his vibe I don’t care for…🤡
I agree with the freezer method. Then after you get the wax remnants out you could soak the container with strong dish soap like Dawn and then use alcohol to hand clean the inside.
What’s the Joy Box project?
If it’s metal you can pour boiling water over it to clean it. Assuming glass candle holders are tempered like Pyrex, you could do that with the glass as well.
I always use a candle warmer plate to melt the leftover wax. That way, I avoid the glass to break. Once empty, I clean the jar first with a dry paper towel and then wash it with dish soap. I do the same with metal containers.
Your Instagram tableaux is adorable – it even makes me want to try Bitter Peach!
I am saving my peach for tomorrow and today I am wearing Angels Share.
Sampling Peach Me which is more of a peach candy smell than I want. Oh well.
I am not fond of peach candy in perfume usually either.
I had no luck finding ambergris yesterday but had a nice time at a small harbour called Cosy Nook ( three houses, and a few boat ramps) where I found some nice quartz and jasper pebbles. No perfume treasures at the op shops but I felt sorry for an incredible 1950s astrakhan jacket ( grey fur astrakhan body with rabbit fur collar) hanging in the Salvation Army shop. It is a beautifully made garment, with the owners initials embroidered into the lining. It was very cheap so I bought it and will wear it to some nice places when I go walking as I am pretty sentimental and it seems like a way to “honour” the slaughtered lamb, to take it to nice parks and forests. Strangest thing I saw was a packet of nipple correctors ( a new one on me but apparently used in breast feeding …suction caps to pull out your nipples to make it easier for a baby to latch on). Wearing Lust solid .

Cosy Nook! Thanks for the link, Kanuka. Is the beach there warm enough to swim in?
The water is crystal clear and about 57F (15C) in summer.
Hmm, maybe not warm enough for me, lol! Crystal clear sounds nice though.
I’ve been meaning to tell you that I was influenced by you back in December to buy the Cherries and Cheer scent from The Body Shop. I really wanted the shower gel, but that was sold out, so what else was I to do but buy the ultimate gift set that included the shower gel, body butter, hand balm, and body mist. 🤣 I think the smell is lovely though probably more for spring than winter. So I’ll use the shower gel in the late spring probably but am using the hand balm and body butter at times currently. And will of course use the body mist whenever the mood strikes.
Oh, that’s cool. It’s a nice, very simple summer scent but doesn’t last long at all. Hope you get some wear out of it once your weather warms up.
I love your idea for wearing the astrakhan jacket. Sounds like a nice day. I love to wander the beaches here looking for small stones and shells.
Have you read Floating Gold, a Natural and Unnatural History of Ambergris by Christopher Kemp? He was a scientist doing a stint on the southern island of NZ and living on the coast and grew fascinated by all the locals combing the beaches for ambergris (sometimes coming to blows) so he wrote this book. Very interesting and entertaining.
I did read it, thanks. He got quite a lot of hate mail after its publication from beachcombers who had wanted to keep their ambergris locations secret.
On the tail end of my vacation and starting on some cleanup and organizing tasks I absolutely hate but know I have to do. Husband is terrible at this type of task and I am going through a lot of his things, including receipts and statements from years past, many unopened. I am trying to revamp our filing system in the hopes of streamlining. And then to clean out our study, where extra stuff has just been dumped in there. I almost never work in the study because the piles of junk give me anxiety. A lot are pictures and mementos I cannot exactly throw away but no quick way to organize.
Wearing Gentle Fluidity Silver, a purchase from early 2023. Clean but not meek.
Go, Zephyr, go! We are doing the same thing, organizing yet really trying to toss papers. Progress is slow, but I find I feel better with even small gains. I took a gallon food bag’s worth of old Christmas card fronts and the stamps from the envelopes to a local teachers’ art supply room. It was very welcome. I did save a few cards from years past, but I mostly emptied a stuffed drawer.
Good luck with the cleanup. It’s a slow process; I did little bits at a time, not wanting to overwhelm myself. You’ll get there!
Wearing Coco Mademoiselle Intense today. The color of the perfume is kind of peachy. Paid pesky bills and got tickets for the Mummies at the Museum thing at Playhouse Square near me for Sunday afternoon.
Points, plus extra points for paying pesky bills.
For the CP win, vintage Champagne. Peachy and powdery and oh so smooth. I enjoy Tresor and Rush, but they have a bitter, astringent quality, like a cold, not quite ripe peach. I also love Asja, but spiced peaches are not my favorite. Of all these, only Yvresse/Champagne also matches the shading of Pantone’s Peach Fuzz in my mind.
Yes MossyBerry, this one and also early J’Adore embody peaches to me as well.
I’ll be in 24, Faubourg for the CP and for an impromptu dinner date this evening. But at the moment I’m wallowing once again in Under My Skin — can’t seem to get enough of it. Mmmmmm.
Scent twins a few hours apart in 24F!
Nice! Such a beautiful and elegant scent. 🙂
I’ve got a sample of this in the mail right now, definitely influenced by you (and possibly others—can’t keep track of who recommends what! Just know I keep seeing it mentioned)
This morning was a non-CP spritz of CdG Kyoto for a funeral I had to attend, and now I’m back in the glorious vintage l’Origan.
That’s a good pick for a funeral. Hope it was comforting.
Thank you, Robin, it was.
I’m in Coco Noir from the sample stash.
A classic day 🙂
Trying a new decant of Profumum Gioiosa I ordered last month. It is pleasant but unremarkable, I liked the previous release Dincanto better.
Good to know! I have not tried a new Profumum in ages.
I’m in Pêche au Yuzu by Kyse Perfumes and really enjoying the peachy goodness. I don’t reach for this often but it always puts a smile on my face😊
I have a sample of that I think…must dig!
I’m riding the holiday vibe to the very end, which for me is Jan 6, Epiphany, the Day of Kings, etc., when the Wise Men arrived at the manger, so I’m swathed in Messe de Minuit from a decant received from a perfume friend. It is also good for warmth as today is cold and windy in Los Angeles.
I can’t help but always mis-translate this one in my head to “Midnight Mess.” 😀
LOL Isabella. Funny how we do that. It is certainly a mess of resinous frankincense and myrrh, which I luvvvv.
Van Cleef & Arpels Moonlight Patchouli
I went to the dentist this morning wearing Ilio hair perfume. I am within thunking distance of my generously gifted bottle. This tells me that I won’t have as many dental appointments this year. Ha!
I am now wearing 24 Faubourg for the cp. I smell way more elegant than I deserve.
Collected my CP points today with Femme Rochas.
Worked, went to a neighborhood association meeting, then worked some more. 11 hours work + 2 hours of meeting = I’m pooped.
Relaxing now with a glass of wine and a great pile of posts to read above. Perfume chatter is so restive.
I agree. I find it very soothing to read about fragrance.
