Happy (Best Buy) Friday! There are 9 days left to go for the year. Birthdays: Lady Bird Johnson, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Ralph Fiennes. Our community project for today: wear your favorite fragrance purchase of 2023. If you didn't buy anything this year, pick a favorite from a prior year. (This is a repeat, several times over, from 2016.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I’m wearing my favorite fragrance buy of 2019, Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola.
Reminder: on 12/29, wear a fragrance with myrrh, if you have one. Suggested by Kanuka.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I thought I’d get through the year without buying anything, but I hadn’t counted on vacation: I bought three fragrances (and three room sprays, which only sort of count) in Paris, one at the airport duty-free on the way out. But I had to! It was 20 per cent off! You would have done the same!
And that last-minute grab is my favourite 2023 purchase, Serge Lutens Écrin de Fumée (“smokescreen”). It’s not particularly original, but it is sweet and delicious — honey-soaked tobacco with a sifting of cocoa powder and little curlicues of smoke. (Maybe it’s a welcome return to form for Uncle Serge? I can dream.)
I hadn’t been paying close attention, but I was disappointed to discover that the sophisticated gunmetal caps that have been a trademark of the brand have been replaced by a sleek, shiny black plastic. It doesn’t look cheap — it looks like enamel, actually — but it’s unsubtle compared to the past version.
Oh, cheap-seeming caps can ruin a bottle for me. (Pathetic, but true.) Maybe we should do Best Bottle Caps as a CP someday. 😆
I like this idea! I have winners and a whole bunch of duds and I will not worry about dissing any line.
I LOVE this CP idea. How fun! Without looking at my collection, I immediately think of L’Elephant. Alas, I don’t own any Penhaligans. One of these days, I want one of their animal head bottles.
I’m on your side — nothing pathetic about it. I don’t know about caps specifically, but I’ve declined to buy fragrances because I hated the bottles so much. The original Romeo Gigli Uomo comes to mind — I hated the bottle (cap and all), the box, the cheapness of it, everything about it except the scent, but I couldn’t imagine owning it. The low bar these days is the Billie Eilish scents: those bottles have their fans but I think they’re awful.
I hate those Eilish bottles as well, wouldn’t buy it no matter what it smelled like.
I’m with you and cazaubon on hating those Eilish bottles. They’re even worse than the Nicki Minaj bottles.
One early vote for MDCI! I slake my yearning for their fancy-version bottles with looking for miniature busts at antiques malls
I was impressed with Écrin de Fumée, but it got a bit lost among my other 2023 purchases. I think a cap CP would be fun, too. There are lots of aspects about caps to geek out on.
I love Écrin de Fumée too. That along with Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere were my favorite releases of 2023.
And the funny thing for me is that I didn’t even care for it much at first sniff, but I had a sample, and I kept wearing it, and the more I wore it the more I liked it, until I had to own it. (If I hadn’t found it on sale I would have bought it anyway when I got home: by the time I had drained the sample, it haunted me.) I don’t know why most perfumes houses nowadays can’t understand this: samples may be expensive to produce but they are your greatest weapon in the battle for market share.
Absolutely. Especially houses that have very few brick & mortar places to sniff and expect you to blind buy $$$$ bottles. I understand not providing them for free but many cannot even be purchased, which is truly stupid.
I wore this yesterday for the first time. You smell great!
Today I’m wearing Indigo Smoke, which is definitely my favorite perfume buy of this year. I’ve found some others that I like very much, including Delina and Lineage, but Indigo Smoke really makes my toes tingle. It’s even better in chilly weather–ha ha, of course we have a very pleasant 64 right now, but that’s chilly for here! It’s something like a campfire with some very nice sweet wood burning in it and crisp slightly acrid smoke.
I’ve been very much behind on everything but finally managed to wrap some packages and put them into the two boxes of things I have to send. A family member already received a Goode & Company pecan pie in a wooden box–this is a local tradition and VERY delicious–and I’ll see two friends soon for whom I have a few things still to wrap. Now all I have to do is get to the Post Office and see if I can just use the handy machine to send the boxes off–they’re small. A highlight of my gift giving this year will be some milk chocolate candy boxes and bars I got at Duty Free in Riyadh, made from CAMEL MILK! Yummy! I’ve tried one and, while it tastes different, it’s very delicious imho.
Here’s a link, in case you’re interested: https://barandcocoa.com/collections/al-nassma
I got them for a lot less money than this!
(No affiliation, of course.)
Those sound good! And good luck at the PO.
And that site is deadly…luckily I am busy today or I’d be buying Vermouth O’Clock dark chocolate even though I don’t know the brand (Fjak).
Camel Milk chocolates sound really interesting, I’d try it.
It’s got a slightly “dark” taste. I don’t know how else to describe it, but it’s reminiscent of goat milk or of nice cheeses made with goat or sheep milk. I’ve been buying a sheep’s milk yogurt lately and it’s out of this world!
Those chocolates sound tasty. There’s a company in Australia ( Queensland) that also makes camel milk chocolate and skin products. I hope you get everything posted so you can relax. Are you still painting? I’ve signed up for another night class , beginning in February. I’m doing a series of still life ( arrangements of perfume bottles and flowers) ATM.
Thank you but no, I drove by two post offices and both looked very crowded. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Yes, I’m still painting! My recent class ended this past week and won’t start up again until February. I’m trying some Christmas tree and poinsettia paintings on my own for now. Next year perhaps I can make my own Christmas cards!
I understand your love of Jndigo Smoke. I made a difficult choice a few weeks ago between Indigo Smoke and the new L’Or de Louis, and Indigo Smoke is now on the top of my buy list. There is a local stockist and I’ve asked them to email me when it’s back.
I bought some dates covered with camel milk chocolate when I passed through Dubai airport. I enjoyed them, but my beloved turned up his nose and wouldn’t even try one.
There’s something very familiar about it, almost like a combination of Vicks Vapo-Rub and licorice. But that sounds awful, and here it’s really nice! I keep thinking I’ll recognize that tantalizingly familiar scent!
I am boring and wearing the same perfume I wore the past few days My newest purchase from Fuegia or however you spell it.
Cheers!
Cheers ltsg! Hope all is well & peaceful.
For the moment , yes!👍🏻 Hope the same for you
That shop where you bought it looked amazing!
Yes, it was very beautiful
There’s nothing wrong with a little perfumed monogamy now and then. 😉
My favorite purchase of the year is the four-bottle coffret of Hermessences, and my favorite among the four I chose is Agar Ebene (much to my surprise, I actually like it better than either Ambre Narguile or Osmanthe Yunnan, both of which I adore) — beautiful fragrances in beautiful, tiny, color-shaded bottles. But my most fun purchase of the year is/are the three sample vials of Francesca Bianchi Under My Skin, which is my SOTM.
Those coffrets are ALWAYS my favorite when I manage to buy one. You smell great today!
I love those bottles so much! They’re perfect, such thoughtful design.
Those wee 15mL Hermes bottles are so freaking cute!
I like those set of four 15 ml bottles as well, but the main two that I would like to purchase are never together, so I have decided against it at this point.
Today I think I’m going to go for Zara Leather Jardin, which is probably my favourite purchase of the year when you consider both the juice and the price point. Here’s hoping for a relatively uneventful day today…except that we’re having guests for dinner today and my work schedule has been filling up and I have to take Ockeghem Teen for a haircut that keeps getting delayed due to sickness (stylist’s, not Ockeghem Teen).
I’ve noted that I should sniff Leather Jardin. I did go into Zara a few weeks ago, and combined with the annoying position of the perfumes right at checkout (as mentioned by others recently), I was overwhelmed by the number of perfumes. In the end, sniffed nothing. Now I know I need to go in with a very specific agenda.
My favorite of 2023: Laboratorio Olfattivo’s Vanagloria. I’ve mentioned it a lot already. It’s a rare perfume where I’m not annoyed my only FB option was 100mL.
My second favorite arrived yesterday: from the Scents of Wood 2024 subscription, Mycelium in Chestnut. I hope they offer this in FB at some point.
I found a bio for the perfumer (Mackenzie Reilly), and I love that the two perfumes she mentions as having influenced her career choice where Shalimar and Dzing!
Really happy so far with the SoW subscription. I had been considering re-subscribing to either the Indigo or Olfactif monthly sample box, but definitely glad I did SoW, even though it’s 2x the price. Even if I don’t love one of the monthly perfumes (so far I’ve enjoyed everything), they’re very giftable small format bottles, if you have a fragrant friend.
I like Mackenzie Reilly too.
In a leather today too, namely Indult’s Reve en Cuir, which I bought this summer in Montreal.
LOL. Didn’t mean to reply to you… and then just carry on with my essay of a daily post. Clearly I needed more coffee!
Today I am wearing Lou Lou. It was toss up between this Donna Karan Gold, but in the end I’m weak for a bombshell perfume so Lou Lou’s vanilla liqueur soaked white flowers won out. For something that can be had cheaply (my 1 oz bottle was $25 at the drugstore) it smells like a million bucks.
You gotta love a cheap thrill!
I love vintage Lou Lou – I am excited to know that the current version smells good. I see an enabler badge for you in 2024!
I’ve never smelled the vintage version but the current one still has a lot of presence for sure.
Can’t beat a bottle of perfume for $25 that smell great! That’s a bona fide steal.
“SMELLS great”. Ooopsie. Typo.
This was one of my scents as a teenager. I think there must be a bottle in a box of mine up in my grandma’s attic, but I’m sure it’s been heat damaged. You Sabel great!
Wearing Perris Montecarlo Mimosa Tanneron. My favorite purchase this year thanks to Aurora, who highly recommended it. It is a very bright, sunny, cozy, cheerful Mimosa scent. It always puts a very big smile on my face when I wear it.
Leaving work in an hour and then running some holiday errands. I will be working from home next week, which I really appreciate.
On my third cup of coffee and having a couple of fig chocolate truffles. One of my favorite holiday sweets.
Happy Friday! ☕️
Fig chocolate truffles!! Save one for me.
Sending you some!
Ha! I was just thinking I might post and mention that Mr. Skal and I have “discovered” these chocolate figs this holiday — we tend to go for foods and experiences as our gifts to one another. We both love dried figs, and these are a treat. We have been having one apiece after dinner.
https://www.zingermans.com/Product/chocolate-dipped-figs/P-RAB
Those Rabitos Royale are the ones that I bought! Aren’t they delicious? I ordered two boxes and I am eating two every day. Two years ago, I was gifted a box and they have become a big favorite for the holidays. Enjoy!
Have you ever been to Zingerman’s in Ann Arbor? It’s quite a place!
No, alas. I have only been to Ann Arbor once (I was thinking of going to grad school there — I loved the program but went elsewhere). It was a long time ago.
Zingermans gets quite a large share of my disposable income. I may not be spending much on perfume these days, but by golly, I *need* fennel pollen, pistachio cream, elderflower Swedish fish, and strattu. Like, always.
Pistachio cream is dangerous. I bought some for Mr. Skal last year and neither of us could believe that something so delicious exists. I hesitate to buy it again because I don’t have much self-control once it is in the house.
Thank you so much, so glad it turned out to be such a successful buy, yes, it’s a happy perfume.
Thank you, Aurora! My bottle of Mimosa Tanneron has a very special place in my collection now!
Fig chocolate truffles? Are they figs stuffed with chocolate ganache? Do tell!
Nice to see you posting today.
Thank you, Jalapeno. I have been quite busy lately.
The truffles are stuffed with chocolate ganache and there is a hint of liqueur. The fig is soft and juicy. Absolutely delicious! Highly recommended!
For the CP, I am in hajusuuri-level sprays of Le Lion. I first tried it via a kind NST’er in a 2021 Splitmeet and decided it was FB worthy almost immediately. I got my FB this Summer through Shop France and got a bit of savings. As I often mention, I still love finding well-preserved vintage scents best of all. But I have a good scent library now (and full shelves). So, Le Lion was a clear choice for me as a new perfume that will be a classic one day.
People are gonna hear you ROAR! 🦁
Woot! I also love Le Lion!
My favorite purchase of this year is definitely DSH December, so I am wearing it yet again today. I find I love it even more now that I can spray with abandon rather than having to eke out tiny dabs from a mini bottle.
Hi 50_Roses, I don’t know if you saw my post yesterday, but I have fallen for DSH December as well so you get an enabler pin. I’m wearing it today, too, although it’s just a sample at the moment.
Yay! I think that’s my first enabler pin, or at least the first I am aware of. December is definitely my favorite of her annual holiday scents. I saw at least one criticism on Fragrantica that it is “too literal” in its interpretation of Christmas, but that is what I love about it. It just feels very balanced; not too much of any one thing, just a bit of everything that one associates with Christmas. I also like Lumiere and Twelfth Night, and I have samples of a couple others that I need to test out, but so far December is the winner.
I have a small bottle of Lumiere and I also like Twelfth Night and Cathedral. She does interesting stuff!
Good morning, NST! Everyone is smelling so fab, as usual! I hope folks are getting stuff done. Nothing exciting or urgent over here other than the fact I made a No bake cheesecake last night. Never tried it before as my mothers heavy, dense, thick-as-a-brick cheesecake was what we had every year and no one dared to make anything else. I split it into two small 6” pans so I can freeze one, which I’m hoping doesn’t ruin it.
T-Rex was chief bottle washer and enjoyed that chore immensely. I haven’t actually cut into it yet, but a finger swipe from the mixing bowl leads me to believe it will be fantastic!
Arizona put on an absolutely stunning show yesterday evening🤩Although I do miss snowy, cold Christmas vibes, I’m not mad about full on sunshine and 72F temps.
Here’s a link for those warm weather desert loving people out there:
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C1IxGTyOOQ0/?igsh=MXc2dGd2aGZycXg2Mg==
As for perfume, I’m probably wearing what many others will choose- Shalimar MI. I sprayed a bit heavier than usual because it’s rainy, grey, and gross outside today and I needed an extra lift. This one wears very quietly on me, so four sprays won’t overwhelm.
Have a great weekend! Ho Ho Ho! 🎅
Those red hills in the distance are beautiful, what a fantastic landscape…so much space. I hope your house is comfortable.
Believe it or not, I did not pick Shalimar MI, but it is one of my favorite purchases this year.
I love your pictures of Arizona. I lived there for about a year and a half and do miss it from time to time. Enjoy the warm weather!
Loving the sound of your weather situation! It was a miserable 36 degrees F here on a grey, cloudy and humid day where the damp creeps into everything.
The only scent I bought this year (apart from a few samples) is a decant of Berdoues Assam of India, so I am wearing it today.
I am taking another coding course – currently finishing week 3 out of 5. This time I am learning how to make multiple page websites (my previous projects had 1 page only). Nothing fancy – simple static websites – but it should be enough to finally build a website of my own. And I know that you can do it without coding knowledge, but I want to code it myself, at least most of it.
Best of luck with the website setup!
Go you! I admire your drive in taking those courses.
I’m once again in my sample of DSH December Holiday No. 10. I should probably be wearing Mx. which I finally bought a bottle of this year and wear quite often, or maybe En Passant, a travel spray that I loved and bought. But it’s almost Christmas and DSH December has the right vibe for now.
Today is more cleaning (boo) and more baking (yay) and more wrapping (yay). Kids (who are no longer kids, but still how I think of them) start arriving tomorrow.
They will always be kids.☺️
♥
Yay for baking and arriving family members!
Dawn does holidays like no other Springpansy, you’ll be smelling gorgeous. X
I bought my favorite scent of 2023 in June, and I am still considering a full bottle. It would be the only FB from this house, I am content with travel sprays for the others. Zoologist Harvest Mouse changes on me every time I wear it. Sometimes it’s grain notes, sometimes hay, this morning I’m getting something spicy. It’s always interesting.
It sounds really great. I feel tempted.
I’ve got a little bit left in a sample of Harvest Mouse, and I’ll post if to you. It’s nice, but doesn’t grab me like it does Foxbins.
Thanks Gaynor. Save it for our next visit!
Wearing my 2nd favorite purchase from 2023. It’s Au Couer du Desert. My favorite is Gris Charnel but it wasn’t quite fitting for today.
Au Coeur is lovely stuff, you smell fab! Did you get a FB or a 5ml? I *want* a FB but don’t “*need* a FB…😬
It’s a full bottle.
👍🏼
Au Coeur du Desert is wonderful stuff!
I’ve chosen CDG Ganja as my favourite of 2923. It’s very earthy with a touch of sweetness and spice . I wouldn’t have identified the ganja note if it hadn’t been for the name of the perfume. It’s fairly dry, not like leafy mulch but does have the earth-floor cellar ( the type where you would store apples and vegetables and cheese and wine) aspect of Chypre Mousse. It’s a nice bottle with a good magnetic cap, too. Our house is shrouded in mist and the neighbour’s trees are grey silhouettes against a white sky. It’s very peaceful.
There’s a bit of unintentional time travel in that post. Bottles of discontinued ganja are now $987 000 000 on eBay, with free shipping from Saturn.
🤣🤣🤣
Haha😂
😀
Blame the time travel on the perfume!
Hilarious! 😂
Commando — which I have been all week. Not sure why. We are going to a holiday party this evening and I thought I’d wear Memo Winter Palace (my favorite purchase of 2021), but I am really feeling No. 5. And then I remembered Wrappings.
There’s one more batch of cookies to bake and then probably a nap (I was awake approximately 4:15-5:45 this morning — why didn’t I just get out of bed at 5???). I’ll figure out the fragrance eventually.
Ugh, that was an EARLY wake up!
I haven’t purchased anything for awhile, but a few years ago I scored a small vintage bottle of Hiris at the local Goodwill–still smells great and I am wearing it today. I needed to wear an Hermes scent as I carefully launder, press, and wrap my sister’s Christmas gift–a vintage Hermes scarf. Lucky she is not a perfume girl, so she won’t stumble on this post and spoil the surprise!!
Oooh, nice find AND nice gift!🤩
Wow! That’s a wonderful find at goodwill! I bet your sister will love her gift.
Score on the Hiris! A nice sychronicity with the scarf.
Spotted in the ‘hood just now: inflatable snowmen, “shivering” from the cold–they must be mounted on a shaking mechanism, but haven’t seen them before. They were holding snow shovels that say
brr. Somewhat ironic since it’s drizzly and in the 40s today.
Not sure what I bought this year except for Shalimar MI, so that’s what I’m wearing.
That’s cute. We have about the same weather here minus the drizzle, but they say it’s coming. Supposed to be 55! on Sunday. Crazy.
I’m in Carnal Flower, my favorite purchase of the year. I only bought 4 bottles this year: this one, Byredo de los santos, Abel nurture and Shalimar MI. I thunked 2 bottles, about 2 dozen samples and a handful of decants. I am finally getting my collection to a manageable-for me- size. It would probably seem meager to others, but clutter and excess overwhelms and stresses me out.😰
I don’t usually wear this in the winter, but it seemed appropriate not only for the cp, but for today, the day where the hours of daylight start to get longer again as we head toward summer.🌞
And you are smelling mighty good there.
Thanks!
Do you like Carnal Flower in Winter weather?
I do! I think it’s gorgeous any time of year.😊
We are scent twins! Although I got my bottle quite a few years ago. I love it; it’s such a beautiful tuberose. I also prefer wearing it in summer but on a grey and miserable December day, nothing seems quite as uplifting.
I’m actually wearing both the EDP and the body oil, which is my favourite tuberose indulgence!
I bet the body oil is great!
I have bought a lot this year due to my long- planned overseas trip, and I’m not sure I can decide on one favourite. I might wear Diorling, as it was the purchase that had been on my buy list the longest.
I’m in Ambre Imperial from VC&A
You smell wonderful!
SOTD = Akro Bake
Yummmy! 😋 ❤️❤️❤️
This was my first, and so far only, FB of Akro. Let’s see what 2024 brings!
https://www.instagram.com/p/C1Kl8eURwIJ/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
As I mentioned yesterday, I have more to wear as “best of 2023” and I will do so over the next few days.
Leaving shortly to get a flower arrangement and visit an aunt at her house. She had invited the nearby nieces and nephews for Christmas Eve dinner but we have already made arrangements to be at another venue.
Still waiting for my husband to vacate the premises so I can open my 4160 Tuesdays box. Hoping Hush Hush & My Eau My will end up being 2023 favorites.
Your husband is not a fan of 4160 Tuesdays? Or perfume in general?
It was a rather large box, I was hoping to disguise how much I bought. 😉
Aha!
My 4160 Tuesdays box came on Wednesday and I will open it tomorrow!
He finally left the house so I was able to discreetly unpack and scuttle the evidence. Will give Hush Hush a spritz after supper. 🙂
Ah yes, discreet unpacking. One of a perfumista’s many skills😎
This is too funny. I thought I was the only one that did that🤣
Also have done that.
Enjoy the visit with your Aunt!
And to close out the CP week, SotD, my favorite and most worn acquisition of 2023 is….
No 9 edT.
(Slammed through a decant from the April swapmeet and was compelled to hunt down a bottle, which I finally did at a reasonable price.)
No 19 that is. typo.
(not number 9…number 9…number 9…)
You smell fabulous, of course!
Of course :- )
I am sure most of you thought that I would wear Shalimar MI today, but I chose another favorite. I purchased a travel spray of FM Portrait of a Lady and I do love it. On top of it, one of my most generous NSTers gave me a few miniature bottles of it that are just darling. FM does make beautiful fragrances.
You smell divine🌹
Thank you my friend.
Beautiful SOTD!
Thank you!
POAL is an excellent pick for the Christmas season. 🌹🌹
Or anytime for that matter.
True!
SL Écrin de Fumée and Meo Fusciuni Viole Nere are my favorites so far, but I needed the coziness of Bengal Rouge today. Will wear those two this weekend. Then of course Monday I will my traditional Chopard Wish.
Wish is your traditional Xmas spritz Cazaubon? Excellent. Such a fab choice. X
Y’all have convinced me, that new Serge is going on my ‘to test’ list! Plus I want to try that new Lutens room spray that someone here wrote about earlier this year. It sounded so yummy.
Frozen mango and yogurt smoothie
Today I chose Worth Dans la Nuit and for the CP tonight it’s vintage JP 1000 EDT, I wasn’t really looking for it, I have the modern EDP but here we are, I do love it.
Vintage is the only way to go with Jean Patou 1000.
You may well be right, the bottle was very pristine and the scent intact, the seller had several and it was a good price.
That Worth Dans La Nuit is a real sleeper hit for me. I have a half-moon bottle that must be quite old, lots of animalics in it, very unlike anything else I own. And yes, Patou 1000 is soooo lovely. It’s a bit bitey on my skin with all those white florals, but I love it.
My favorite purchase was G&B Ingenious Ginger. I have a BUB already.
But it’s raining and chilly and not the day for it, so I think I will reach for Sycomore or Le Lion to hit the grocery store.
I forgot about my G&B Ingenious Ginger! Also, regardless of which perfume, you smell great!
My favorite purchase of the year is a toss up between SL Sarrasins and SL De Profundis but I went with Sarrasins today.
Both are so beautiful. Excellent choice(s).
Thank you😊
Did you get the bell jars of these when in France? Your SOTD sounds beautiful. The other looks like it would be too green for me, but maybe it isn’t.
I got a bell jar of Sarrasins in France and the De Profundis is in the a gratte ciel bottle. De Profundis is definitely a green fragrance but the floral and earthy notes really ground it.
Got it.
It’s not too green, and I say this as someone who hates green scents. Very much worth a sniff. It’s odd but compelling in a way.
Both gorgeous! I am lusting after Encens et Lavande.
Sarrasins! Ooooooooooooooh!
I remember that we are both huge Sarrasins fans!
Another fan of both Sarrasins and DeProfundis here! I would have a hard time deciding my fave as well! You smell marvelous.
For today’s cp I’m wearing the original Givenchy Organza Indecence, my favorite fragrance from 1999, (I’m guessing, since I know I bought it shortly after it came out). It’s actually my favorite winter fragrance of all, warm and cozy like a hug yet it has a bit of a sexy side as well.
Finished the grocery shopping this morning, now I don’t have to go out til Christmas. Will finish wrapping today and then tomorrow will make my hot apple cider punch and traditional mushroom barley soup for our Polish Christmas Eve supper – and the rest comes from the Polish deli and requires only some last warming up and just a little bit of last minute cooking.
Temps in the 40’s today but dreary and rainy; the temptation is great to crawl back in bed. Can’t do that today but I’m treating myself on Tuesday to doing nothing! Except maybe watch my favorite holiday films and tuck in with a 🐈⬛ (or 2 or 3) and a book. Peace to all ☮️.
Sounds like you’re all set to party like it’s 1999! 😉
🎉 💃 🕺 🎶😅
Congrats on being able to avoid the holiday crowds for a couple of days! It’s crazy out there now.
It was crazy this morning at the supermarket. I can only imagine what it’ll be like the next two days!
A lot of the gas stations in my area were slammed today. If I didn’t know any better, I would have said that a major storm was on the way.
That plan sounds fantastic. I grew up outside of Chicago and from a Polish family as well. Grandma always made roast duck, homemade chocolate cherry candies and kapusta. I cant duplicate her cooking but I still make pretty decent cabbage rolls. I never have sampled Givenchy Organza. I did pick up a modern fragrance this week which is very sweet, very rich and very marshmallow, called Commodity Milk Bold. I am liking it a lot in the cold weather. Its kind of like a hot milky sweet drink with some caramel sauce and whip cream. Extremely gourmand.
Glad I could bring back happy memories. Did you have opłatke (the Christmas wafer) on Christmas Eve? That’s my favorite tradition.
My fragrance was Organza Indecence, not Organza. The Indecence is warm with vanilla and cinnamon; and I prefer it to Organza, which is more of a white floral with tuberose. Your Commodity scent sounds delicious!
It’s a gorgeous fragrance and you smell wonderful, Laila! Hope it keeps you warm.
Always!
I’m wearing Terracotta for the CP (and also because it’s a bit unseasonably warm here today, so leaning into *that*). This was a FB purchase for me this year after running through various decants, and I wore the heck out of it all summer so I’m granting it fragrance-of-the-year status.
This is a beautiful fragrance for summer temperatures. It has been unseasonably warm here too, so I can see why you could wear it now.
Terracotta is a beauty!
Hm…I didn’t buy TOO many bottles this year, but I love the ones that I did purchase. I just put on a spritz of Dawn Spencer Hurwitz’s Lipstick Rose Blue No. 71. It’s a one-off from her “UPCYCL” program…a dusky, wine-y rose-and-violet blend.
This sounds lovely 🥰
Hi All, Merry everything
Wearing Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Nerolia Vetiver.
It’s a perfect foil for the summer heat here in Sydney. We are off today for lunch with some mates and then the Fish Markets to buy our Xmas Day prawns.
Xmas Day prawns sound like a delicious tradition! 🎄🎁
Jin and BFF Kath go prawn crazy Jalapeño
Merry everything, Portia!
Thanks Springpansy XXX
A less crazy day for me today. The junk removal/cleanout guys were here to take out the clothes washer, which was not working correctly and was not repairable. Also went to the hardware store to get some decent packing tape.
Had to look thru my purchases to see what my favorite purchase for 2023 was. I definitely missed out on a Very Low Buy this year, since I had a few Black Friday purchases slip in. My total for the year was 7 bottles and/or travel sprays.
SOTD = virtual spray of Fzotic Au Dela Narcisse, from the travel spray that was a Black Friday purchase. The actual travel spray is in Colorado at my brother’s house, safe and sound.
You smell wonderful!
Thank you! When I saw that a travel spray was available for a limited time, I had to get it.
Here’s hoping each day is less crazy than the last one 🤞 as you check off the remaining must-do’s so you can begin your new life. 🤗
Thanks Laila. Fingers crossed for cooperative weather in all this!
I think 7 bottles is still low buy, I wasn’t as restrained as you but did not buy anything on Black Friday except for Caron Pour UN homme for my brother.
We shall see how I do in 2024!
7 bottles is really good. Pat yourself on the back I reckon Jalapeño. X
I might not be so annoyed if I hadn’t said at the beginning of 2023 that I was going to purchase between 1 – 3 full bottles. Overshot that goal by a country mile.
HA!
Still an outstanding effort.
I’m late again today because of a busy work day finishing up some things before the holiday weekend. My two most recent, and hopefully last, purchases of the year arrived last night so I couldn’t help but wear them today. I got an amazing deal from a nice person on one of the Facebook perfume groups on an almost full bottle of Lord of Misrule (a 30ml bottle made 3 years ago) and a 60% full bottle of Carner Barcelona Palo Santo. Both for $65 shipped! It is rare to find deals like that these days. I’ve got one on each arm and just resprayed so it’ll be a fragrant evening.
Score!
Partial bottles can be such a great deal. What a nice end of year treat!
What a great deal and as SP said, a great way to end 2023!🎉
yay!
Byredo’s Bibliothéque. Books are my life, and the smell of leather-bound pages and ancient wood floors and stacks takes me to my happy place.
Speaking of Serge, I have been enjoying my Serge Lutens Berlin layered with Pure Honey, what a combo. Its very decadent, very heady and long lasting. Last night I came across Notes from Josephine on youtube, and I just miss her presentation and enthusiasm regarding perfume. Does anybody know if she might return to her channel? The current channels dont hold a candle to her.
My one retail buy of the year was CdG Incense Series Jaisalmer for the hubs, who thunked a decant I received in the last swapmeet and said it was full bottle worthy, which he almost never does, as he is wedded to his Chanel Egoiste. Since his birthday was this month, I promptly high-tailed it over to Scent Bar to get him his prezzie. I love it too, but dang, it does not last on either of our skin much past 2 hours. But while it does it’s glorious.
