Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating today!
Whether you’re celebrating or not, feel free to talk about anything you like: what fragrance you’re wearing today, what perfume you're especially thankful for, what you’re going to cook or eat today...whatever you like, so long as it doesn’t conflict with our comment policy.

It’s Coromandel, again. I wonder if I’ll associate it with this time in my life. Think Andy Warhol used to do that-he’d wear a fragrance for certain period of time, and then it would remind him of his life at that time.
Happy Thanksgiving to the people who celebrate it. Ours was back in Oct. I remember watching the Macy’s Day Parade-it all seemed pretty special, and then there was often a classic movie afterwards-Miracle on 34 th Street 🙂
Today we were at the parade. Lots of fun
Yay for Coromandel and the parade!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who celebrate it! I’m making a scaled-down traditional dinner for the two of us and a friend. My favorite things: Waldorf salad and pumpkin pie.
I’ll be wearing Montale Patchouli Leaves which I recently received from a very kind and generous NSTer. And for that, plus all the other beautiful people here, especially Robin, I am grateful!!!🙏🏻
PSA alert: 30% off at perfumedefrance-dawt-com with code BLKF30.
Please don’t hate me. 😀
Oh, you smell wonderful!
Thank you!
Yum for Waldorf salad and pie! Checking that website now…
Let us know if you found anything you couldn’t refuse. 😉
Ooh! That is tempting…
Hard to celebrate this year, with the state of the world.
I’m grateful for my health and safety, and that of my loved ones.
Spritzed on a bit of Givenchy III to take a walk this morning, then the turkey breast goes in the oven.
I think I often have that feeling at the holidays, this year maybe more so.
Thinking of you and your son today, Robin.
I am alone for the day. My sister and I figured our bush dinner in Tanzania with a lion visitor was our very own special dinner.
I have much to be thankful for even with no job yet. And I have soup, a comfy couch and big cozy throw and I save all The Crown new season episodes for today.
SOTD will be orignal Aedes.
Hope your day is peaceful! I resubscribed to NetFlix last week so currently binge watching The Great British Baking Show. Enjoy The Crown! 📺
We had a nice low key Thanksgiving and still managed to eat too much, although we did also manage to take a walk before dessert.
Apsara, hope you enjoyed your Crown binge, and Deva, hope you are enjoying your GBBS binge!
I was planning something else, but my eyes lit upon Guerlain Vega, which I have been wearing a lot lately, so that is my SOTD. It was, in a manner of speaking, both an indulgence and a cheap thrill. The retail price when I bought it was, IIRC, $305 for a 125 mL bottle. I had a $250 gift card that I used on the purchase, bringing my total out-of-pocket cost, including tax, down to $82. At $0.66 per mL, I figure that is cheap thrill territory.
I am thankful for my DH and my two kitties; for my health; for the comfort and security of a roof over our heads and enough to eat; for retirement and the opportunity to rediscover the joy in pastimes that had been pushed aside with the daily grind of work and household chores.
There are only two of us, and we don’t have a family member’s or friend’s house to go to, so we will be going out a little later today to have Thanksgiving dinner at a nice restaurant.
Hope you guys have a lovely dinner out! I always think eating out on holidays is such a treat, I miss having Chinese food every Christmas when I was young (we did our main meal on Christmas eve, then went out on Christmas).
When I was growing up, there weren’t any restaurants in our small city that were open on Christmas Day. I don’t think anything was open on Thanksgiving either.
In the DC area the Chinese restaurants were always the only ones open when I was younger, so that was where people who didn’t celebrate Christmas ate…and it was always sort of festive to be there, people were in a good mood and the restaurants were always crowded.
We didn’t even have any Chinese restaurants in our town when I was growing up. In fact, there were very few restaurants of any kind. There are a lot more choices now, and a lot more variety. We do have at least one place–an “Asian fusion” restaurant (really just Japanese and Chinese)–that seems to be open every day of the year.
I’m wearing Five O’Clock au Gingembre today, because I brought two Serge Lutens decants with me to my sister’s house. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate today.
Happy Thanksgiving PriscillaE!
Hi everyone! Feeling grateful for many things but always for all of you here at NST 🤗
I’m wearing SL Arabie today for a chilly and beautiful sunny day.
Chilly but beautiful here too 🙂
Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all those that celebrate! 😊
Sotd is BR540 Extrait.
No turkey for me this year but I will be making roast chicken, mashed sweet potatoes and yes, there’s stuffing!
No turkeys for us- kids wanted bratwurst 😂
Yay for chicken instead of turkey! That is my preference too though I will deign to have some turkey later today.😉 🦃
Unintentionally wearing Spilled Coffee all over right now! Oopsie! 🙄
Intentionally wearing several sprays of JM Ginger Biscuit. Not a bad combo imo. 🙃
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate. It’ll be a very quiet day here. For those interested, my bread tasted good! Tasted much better than it looked. I guess my bread game is not yet en pointe, but I will persevere! There’s a link below if you want to laugh at a loaf! 😂
https://instagram.com/stories/vantasticviews2/3242500385708672851?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
That’s better than looking better than it tastes!
Happy Thanksgiving!
True, very true! Hope your turkey turns out fabulous! 🦃
It did! I switched to my digital thermometer and it read 202 when I took it out!
Happy Thanksgiving Deva. You’re like the pilgrims, making your own bread.
Ha! According to the pilgrims, I can certainly up my bread game. 🍞 Enjoy that smoothie!
Happy Thanksgiving, Deva!
Back at ya, She-Ra! Smelling fabulous over there! No matter which Shalimar iteration you chose, you can’t go wrong. 🙌
Hey, no laughing here, I was impressed!
Honestly, it was quite edible so I’m considering it a win! My best wishes to you and your family for Thanksgiving!
Your bread looks fantastic! Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving, Deva!
I think it looks delicious!
Happy Thanksgiving!
SOTD = Akro Bake
Perfect for today, guaranteed not to offend anyone even though I used my usual 8 sprays!

I went to Wegmans and got a sweet potato pie and rugelach which we will bring to a house where we are celebrating Thanksgiving.
Look at that tiny milk and jam! Too cute!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving. I bet you smell great.
Yay for rugelach! I love rugelach but it’s not as prevalent or generally good out here than proper East coast rugelach. 😉
I think I need to try Akro Bake.
Love the tiny little food items.
Commando for now. Last night wore Winter Palace to what turned into a low-key Friendsgiving. Looking like today it will be just me, Mr. Skal, and the cat. That is okay with us; a day to rest — and to cook lovely things without worrying about a strict timetable — is a gift.
Sounds lovely to me!
Ginger Biscuit
An early Christmas present from one of my dearest friends
I bought my daughter the original when she turned 18 and I decanted SO many times for Annie A and others that I never wanted to use it myself
Well, now I have my own bottle!!!!!!!!
Yay for your own bottle!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Same to you lillyjo!🤎🍁🦃🙏🍽🦃
More perfume, enjoy your very own bottle.
Thanks! I’m really enjoying it!!!
At long last this fall I was able to bring myself to use of the last of the Ginger Bikkie decants you’d so kindly sent, now that I have My Very Own Bottle! I always flash on the old “Little Pink Sock” cartoon, as it’s the very same reaction.
Woo hoo!! I’m glad you were able to finally obtain a bottle!!!!!!!!!!
Yay! Enjoy your GB!
Thank you!!!!!!!
How wonderful! 🥰
Happy thanksgiving day to everyone who celebrates and I hope the day is peaceful and full of good things. Another grotty, wet day here as yet another wintery, cold front travels over the south. I’m wearing JPG Divine. It starts off as a sweet-salty fruit pulp and then descends into a vanilla musk, reminiscent of the base of Poison Girl ( which I had a soft spot for as it was pretty basic and went well with my fake fur coat).
This winter just won’t end for you!
I always liked Poison Girl.
I hope you have a happy day today, Lillyjo
Shalimar is wearing more vanilla on me today- so vanilla base twins 👯♀️
Happy about that!
Grotty vs. Grody ha!
We’re vanilla dry down twins!
Every time someone uses “grotty” I hear it in George Harrison’s voice from A Hard Day’s Night. Short for “grotesque”, I guess.
He was so young. but then, so were we.

For word nerds!
I love it … and yes, I am a word nerd. 🙂
Welp, I’m having that moment where you finally try a random sample that was included with a LS order and … fall instantly and completely in love with it. Hasn’t happened to me in quite a while and it’s a little disconcerting. I plan to finish the entire sample before buying, but I admit a FB is in my LS cart already. 🫣 I don’t recall anyone here mentioning the house (Omnia Profumo) or this fragrance (Ambra), but I will say that so far LS’s description is spot on. It’s a very dry and light spiced amber, kind of like Nanadebary Bronze but with the sweetness dialed way back.
I love that moment of discovery!
I’ve tried Ambre, but nothing else from Omnia Profumo – it’s definitely a lovely amber. It’s been on and off my list of possible purchases a few times.
I’ve tried two from this brand and loved them enough to consider full bottles
Sounds lovely.
The lightning bolt! ⚡️It does sound beautiful.
Day Three of Ambra, and I caved — bottle has been ordered. It’s what I wanted 10CC to be, but more so, and better. Early Christmas present? 😉💕
I was in a hurry today, so i grabbed Silences for the office, this is a great no-brainer, although i wish i had a bit more of galbanum and less powder.
You smell great. I haven’t worn that for a while, thinking I will do a “green” week soon
We are back back from the parade! So beautiful this year and kids had a blast.
I am wearing Shalimar , EDP
That’s the spirit, Happy Thanksgiving.
Yay for the parade! None about that Encens Mythique…
keeping my eye on that 🙂
Jomoshop has it for a good deal right now.
And we’re house twins. I am in Philtre.
Well, I know you smell good😉
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I’m commando, having just showered. We are going to friends’ later this afternoon, so I’ll decide what scent to wear – one that doesn’t conflict with the various food smells.
Absolutely thrilled over our new artificial tree. Five minutes to assemble. Tons of lights, which can be either clear or colored. Perfect size. And it was affordable. I was so over the battle of getting the tree straight in the stand and putting lights on.
My order of candle warmer and wax melts is ready to pick up, so I’ll be able to get some Frasier Fir smells going tomorrow.
Like Robin, I’ll be doing Delicata squash today. I have some maple cinnamon sugar, so I may sprinkle that over before roasting.
I bet the squash will turn out great.
Oh yay. I am going to hopefully put together my first artificial tree this weekend. Hope I am as happy with it as you are.
Wearing Shalimar Millesime Iris, thanks to a very generous NSTer who sent me a decant. On me, it is a light smoky caramel scent. No iris at all. However, I love it! It is very warm and cozy, and I see myself finishing the decant soon.
In a last-minute decision late last night, we are meeting at my youngest sister place for a very simple dinner tonight. Roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and apple pie. We are looking forward to a very nice time together.
Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁
It’s so funny how MI smells different to everyone. I am still waiting to get the caramel. Maybe when it’s colder.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! I will leave some MI for warmer weather to see if the iris shows up. But iris or not, I love it! 😍
I’m still waiting too. I get iris and vanilla. I’ve tried spraying lightly and being more heavy handed, but I zero caramel. 🤷🏻♀️
I sniffed this one – it was really sweet on the blotter. Maybe I should try it on skin
It is not that sweet on my skin, like Prada Candy, which I can not wear. After a couple of hours, it has become just a nice and comfy vanilla scent. I might consider a full bottle.
Get a bottle before they run out, though they seem to have quite a supply of this one. The vanilla and tonka seem to have been a different story. They ran out quickly.
I think the re-sellers bought the first 2 up and are realizing they aren’t getting what they are asking.
I checked out of curiosity, and they are out of stock in the Guerlain site. I am not in a rush to get it anyway.
Try it on the skin and I think you will like it.
Enjoy Thanksgiving at your sister’s place. Your dinner sounds great.
Thank you, Aurora!🌻
Happy Thanksgiving, PL67! I get powdery iris and vanilla but not caramel per se.
Thank you, She-ra!
I only got the caramel note for about half an hour. Now, I only get a great buttery vanilla note. No iris for me.
And wanted to add on the Shalimar MI that I wonder if some interpret the buttery orris/iris note as the caramel b/c I do think the orris/iris is quite buttery which sometimes makes my brain think caramel too.
That’s is interesting. I will keep checking on the development of MI. It is quite a unique scent!
interesting
I think you could be right.
I agree with that assessment.
Happy Thanksgiving to all, even those who don’t celebrate. I celebrate your presence and am grateful!🙏
Another glorious un-November-like day here in Chicagoland, and we are headed out for a very un-traditional Thanksgiving – Dim sum! After years and years of preparing Thanksgiving dinner, I told my son I wanted to do something different this year, and left it up to him and his family to decide what we should do, and that’s what they chose. I’m really looking forward to it and enjoying freedom from cooking!
SOTD is Lagerfeld KL, one tiny spray, my traditional scent for this day. And in another nod to tradition, I made my special mushroom/butternut squash soup earlier this week, and we’ll be enjoying my favorite pumpkin pie cake tonight along with Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, yet one more of the day’s traditions.
Your soup sounds divine. Enjoy the no-cooking.
Yay for dim sum and no cooking!
I loved dim sum the one time I had it, in San Francisco. How nice all your other traditions are ready to roll.
Enjoy your freedom! Pumpkin pie cake? Yes, please. 😋
What a great idea, hope the dim sum was wonderful.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the folks who celebrate and grateful for everyone here, celebrating or not.
I’m in just a little Frapin Caravelle Epicee from a dwindling sample that wasn’t big to begin with. 6 month old grandson is here so I’m trying to be not very perfumey. Lots of cooking already and youngest son (father of the baby) wanted to cook a delicious Vietnamese dinner last night with me from a cooking class that we took together. I couldn’t say no and it was fun, but it’s non-stop cooking around here and I’m ready to take a break!
Vietnamese food is great.
It was so good (and so much prep/chopping!)
So sweet that your son wanted to cook with you. I hope you get a chance to kick your feet up today💕
So fun. He’s a wonderful, thoughtful son.
Happy Thanksgiving, SP!
Happy Thanksgiving, She-ra! Off to check out Krystal Fragrance. 🙂
I had a Vietnamese friend back in the day and I wanted to learn how to make traditional spring rolls old school style. We went to the Vietnamese market, bought everything needed, and then back to my parents house as I was going to make a bunch for everyone. Yeah, they were delicious, but SO MUCH PREPPING! So much TIME! I thoroughly enjoyed them, but never made them again! 😂
Haha —Yep, exactly!
Happy Thanksgiving! I shall wear either Shalimar MVP or Tonka later today. Grateful for so much and especially this wonderful community! 😍
Krystal Fragrance is doing a BF sale that has already started w/ some good discounts on different brands. No affiliation.
https://krystalfragrance.com/pages/black-friday-sale
And you will smell wonderful in either. It sounds like there will be shopping too.
Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve not shopped KF before but am taking a look.
They’re fantastic! Have fun!
Wearing Alkemia’s Yellow Book today, which can be had for $28 and is an underrated gem. Happy American Thanksgiving all!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Feeling grateful for all of you in this wonderful fragrant community🌸
Wearing AG Ce Soir Ou Jamais. I was able to get this inexpensively and was instantly transported back to my early perfumista days. I remember the first time I set my eyes on those beautiful AG bottles😊
I loved those bottles. You smell fabulous.
Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends. Lillyjo, how is that turkey going? Is your son helping you?
Smoothie will be pears and yogurt. No celebration in the UK, but lots of Black Friday sales which doesn’t seem right somehow. There’s already a tree in a neighborhood I crossed when going to a medical appointment yesterday. I am to come off a medication I’ve been on for the last eleven years. I want to do this but hoping I won’t have a recurrence of my illness which was no fun.
It was Shalimar Philtre today and tonight Fragonard Grain de Soleil which despite its name is more a fall/winter fragrance.
Hi Aurora! The turkey is still in the oven. Honestly.. my son wasn’t too much help, but he tried.
Good luck with coming off the medication. I hope your illness never returns.
Hope everything stays even keel as you discontinue the medication. As my personal Smoothie Inspiration Person, I’m sending you “Thanksgiving” for all the great smoothies you post. Had a frozen triple berry, yogurt, and 1/2 frozen banana, with 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder yesterday and it was DE-lish! Smoothie on! 💪🏼
Oh Deva, thank you, so glad you’ve become a smoothie aficionado, yours from yesterday sounds delicious and healthy.
I like your SOTD! Shalimar twinning
Fingers crossed for you Aurora, hope it goes well.
Thank you Robin. So far so good.
Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate. I am so grateful for this group! Feeling festive today in my all time favorite FM Iris Poudre.
You smell festively fabulous!
Thank you my dear.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m wearing another recent purchase (I seem to have a lot of those!), Tiger By Her Side from Sana Jardin. It’s a lovely soft spice.
I have that one. You smell great!
This sounds really nice.
Happy American Thanksgiving! I am having chicken thighs, cranberry sauce, and gingerbread today. I had vegetables yesterday so I think it all evens out. I’m wearing Mistral Patchouli and loving it.
Awesome! (My evening fragrance will be Ginger Biscuit!)
Then you will be my scent twin
Yay!
You smell great!
One of the reasons I love NST: I get inspiration for what to wear next
Also, do not forget that it’s time to play Arlo Guthrie’s Alice’s Restaurant. It’s a song about Thanksgiving!
Oh good call! That’s one of the albums I have in my basement.
I was thinking about that today! A popular radio station here (now defunct) used to play all songs mentioning food for most of the day. So much fun! I had to laugh when Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” came on.
Our local station plays the whole thing every Thanksgiving, and then in the late afternoon they play all of The Band’s The Last Waltz.
The Turkey is in the oven! A little late because it wasn’t quite thawed this morning. I’m going to cook it a little longer. I prefer dry Turkey over poison Turkey. Lol.
It is extremely mild for today. 45 degrees and no precipitation. I am wearing a couple of dabs of vintage Lagerfeld cologne ( thanks to a generous Nster) reading on Fragrantica, some have compared it to Shalimar. I think it leans more towards Emeraude due to the powdery aspects. It’s a comforting scent.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving. Seems like turkey is generally forgiving. Have a great day!
Happy Thanksgiving!
As long as you’re not deep frying turkey, not fully thawed should be okay. I don’t think I’ve ever used the oven to cook anything savory.
I would never trust myself to deep fry anything.
Happy Thanksgiving Lillyjo and family! Do you have a meat thermometer? That’s the best way to avoid poison turkey…☠️
I just checked it. The button popped up by my thermometer only read 135 so it’s back in the oven.
Yes, good call, a little overcooked is the way to go, glad your son attempted to help you out, it’s the presence that counts imo.
Hubby said the same… let’s cook it longer to be on the safe side
This is why I hate cooking meat.
Me too 😂especially big meat like a turkey
Your sotd sounds great if it resembles Emeraude.
We kids gave that to my dad for Christmas one year, and I loved when he wore it. You smell nice.
Good luck with the turkey!
Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating!
We’re having a small gathering (4 people total), so the prep is very low key. No turkey, since it’s not our favorite. My stepdad is doing some sort of beef roast, I’ll handle the mashed potatoes, my mom’s doing Brussels sprouts (with maple syrup and bacon, a new recipe I haven’t tasted yet), and we kept it simple with a store-bought dessert.
I’m commando today and will probably be for a few days yet, as my parents don’t like perfume and I’ve simultaneously had a reaction to whatever I was sampling a few days ago. My inner wrists are bumpy and itchy. I still added some fragrance from a dabber yesterday, but clearly need to give it a rest. Hopefully this doesn’t become a regular thing.
For those tracking sales, ZGO is doing 20% off with code FRIDAY23.
Your menu sounds fantastic to me! I’d much rather have beef than turkey.
Hope you can figure out what caused the reaction.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone south of the border! Not cooking today, but I’ll make Ockeghem Teen happy on Saturday with her second Thanksgiving dinner of the year. (Really, I could just make stuffing and that would take care of it…)
SOTD is cheap but not really a thrill: The ever popular Commando. I’m taking today off to use up personal days and because we have parent-teacher conferences later, and one of my errands today was going in for a blood test. Too many needles this week, after getting my shingles vaccine on Monday.
I do have to say I miss the Macy’s parade. I hope it was fun for those who went!
Kids had a blast. Met their friends and watched all the floats go by. I bought bagels for everyone. I love the parade
Happy Thanksgiving to the celebrators! I made a pumpkin pie and will bring it and some wine and pear cider to my friend’s house in a little bit.
I’ve been fighting a terrible virus for weeks, which turned into bronchitis and a sinus infection, and I’m finally feeling better now. Still not 100%, but at least I’m not coughing all the time.
I’m wearing no. 5 Eau Première today, and I’m all blinged out in sparkly jewelry (I heart fake diamonds!) I have to go back to work tomorrow and all weekend, but I’ll enjoy my day of big eats 🙂
Will be back to read the rest of the comments after dinner.
Good that you are feeling better and pear cider sounds interesting! I love 🍐 🍐 pears
Thanks! I got it from Aldi, of all places! It’s called Pearsecco. It comes in cans, and it was tasty.
You shine on, socks!! 😀 You smell wonderful, too.
Why thank you!
Feel better and be fabulous!
Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating.
I am wearing Divine Vanille, i am happy that they come in 10 ml sizes. Great way to try out new scents.
The weather is nice for this time of the year, I am thankful for that.
I am thankful for every brand that still does 10 ml! Very best size.
Here here! These days, I’ll even take 30 ml, though.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has had the right measure of good food, merriment, friends, family and quiet reflection. Perfume-wise, I am thankful for my SotD, Samsara edt from a 2016 red shoulder bottle. It was a beautiful day here, perfect for a long walk after our nice meal.
So glad you had a nice meal and a long walk, that’s the best.
That sounds lovely! The weather here was nice too, unlike usual.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thankful to be comfy and safe, sorry for all the misery in the world. I worked today but it was a light day.
Husband bought some barbecue – they were out of turkey. We are going to have a low key evening. Tomorrow, we will grill some steaks and daughter will join us. Both of us miss getting to see extended family. People have either passed on (his family) or the distance/schedules are prohibitive (my family).
I wore Ambrosia Imperiale, part of my gourmand kick of 2023.
I love barbecue! Hope it was good, and have a great time with your daughter tomorrow.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating! While I am not in the US, I am grateful to NST and all the lovely people here. You guys really cheer me up, and it means a lot to me.
❤️ Hope you have a peaceful day today.
Glannys, we are grateful you can join us! I join AnnE in hoping it was a no-stress day.
Happy Thanksgiving to all! I wore an Oil Perfumery version of SDV today, keeping things low-key as we had a lawyer’s appointment this afternoon.
Hope everyone had a lovely celebration!
Hope the appt went well Gail.
The apple and pecan pies I made went over well. So glad it’s over though, I prefer being home alone with the dog. 🙂
I don’t blame you! Me too 🐶🐱🐶🐱
