Imaginary Authors A Whiff of Waffle Cone ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 9 October 2023 4 Comments

Indie brand Imaginary Authors has launched a new version of 2020's A Whiff of Waffle Cone. Like the original, A Whiff of Waffle Cone (II) was developed in collaboration with Portland-based ice cream company Salt & Straw.

When we first launched A Whiff of Waffle Cone back in 2020, we had no idea how much it would resonate with so many of you. It's a fragrance that we, ourselves, have grown fonder of over the last three years, but part of that process has also been wishing it was a little more elegant, a little less cloying. We're perfectionists, constantly tinkering with our craft, and obsessed with ensuring the products that carry the Imaginary Authors name are the absolute best they can be.

And with that, we'd like to introduce you to the second edition of A Whiff of Waffle Cone. We're certain that those who loved the original will only find more to love with this delicious and undeniably more wearable offering. Every time someone professes their undying love for A Whiff of Waffle Cone it warms our hearts, and we're excited to convert even more of you into devotees of this wildly addictive fragrance.

The notes feature vanilla, salted caramel, cinnamon, heavy cream, sandalwood, orgeat* and scoop shop.

Imaginary Authors A Whiff of Waffle Cone is available in 14 ($42) or 50 ($105), concentration unknown. A matching candle is $48.

* Almond syrup, sometimes scented with rosewater or orange blossom water.

Has anyone tried this? Do you love it? I think the smell of it must be wonderful but this is one gourmand I just would have no interest in wearing. It just sounds too specific.

I have not tried the new formulation, but I have a very recent sample of the old one. It is pretty much exactly as described — vanilla waffle cone — except that I get a strong burnt smell in the top notes. When I tried it last, someone else here said they got the same thing, but I don’t think everyone gets it. It died down after about 15 minutes, though.

Maybe they’re reformulating to get rid of that burnt smell?

Oh, I love the burnt sugar opening, so I hope not!

I love the original and look forward to trying the new one, even though I thought the OG was perfect as is.
