It's Friday, plus National Double Cheeseburger Day, the International Day of Democracy and Agatha Christie’s birthday. Our community project for today: we're off to Italy! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in Italy, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to Italy, or that features an Italian ingredient, or ?
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm still at the beach, still commando, and even more behind on comments. (I'll catch up when I get home on Sunday.) Zero points for me this week! (But if I was home and if I still had any, I'd have gone with the sadly discontinued Eau d'Italie Paestum Rose.)
Reminder: 9/22 is the day before the Autumn Equinox (in the northern hemisphere, at least). Wear a fragrance that says adiós to summer, or hello to fall, or wear your favorite transitional fragrance. (If you're in the southern hemisphere, adjust accordingly!)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

What better way to represent Italy than by wearing something I bought there? Today, that would be one of the I Profumi di Firenze scents from the shop in the Palazzo Vecchio: Spezie de’ Medici concentrato. It is STRONG stuff at first — “a bit too much,” as you noted in your 2005 review, Robin. But after it calms down it is very beautiful, like an orange pomander thickly studded with cloves and cinnamon, plus sandalwood and patchouli and a little vanilla, not a flower in sight.
I wore this earlier in the week. You are spot on in your description, it’s a LOT when first applied, but softens down beautifully. It will be in heavier rotation when it gets colder. You smell nice 😊
I love this very much, but it’s the only perfume I’ve ever tried to which I was allergic. I immediately broke out in a bad rash right where I’d sprayed it on, and the SA with whom I was talking went into a panic and rushed me into their rest room to help wash it off.
Wonder if it was the concentration of cinnamon?
Oh, or the clove maybe, since that’s why IFRA restricted it at some point?
I’ve been avoiding this site for some reason. I think it is because I am afraid that if I read too much about perfume, I will inevitably end up wanting something else, and I DO NOT NEED MORE PERFUME! I retired a few months ago, so I am trying not to buy anything “extra” until I get the money angle sorted out. I am also in the middle of decluttering and sorting out all the stuff in my house, so I don’t need to be adding more stuff right now.
This got accidentally posted on this thread, so please ignore the non sequitur nature of the comment.
I am inches away from retirement myself and understand completely.
The only perfume I ever reacted to like that was Cinnabar. Bright red, itchy spots everywhere the perfume had touched my skin.
Wow, I wonder if it MAY have something to do with cinnamon then (I assume it’s in Cinnabar), or maybe with the cloves that Robin mentioned.
Fragrantica lists both cinnamon and cloves as notes in Cinnabar. Who knows what the actual ingredients are, but as this was a bottle from the 1980s, it likely had both real cinnamon and real cloves in it somewhere, as the IFRA restrictions had not yet happened.
If you love it, can you enjoy it by spraying it in the air or on fabric? If it is only a skin reaction and not a respiratory sensitivity, you might be able to make it work.
Great choice!
Mmmm, sounds wonderful and right up my alley I really like this line and have two partial bottles from swaps on MakeupAlley years ago that I cherish – Vaniglia de Madagascar and Ambra del Nepal.
I love Ambra del Nepal so much and also have a partial bottle that I believe I got in a swap on MUA.
I am in Erbario Toscano Vanigla Piccante – Spicy Vanilla, because it is a cool grey day and I wanted something warm and cuddly.
What do you think of Erbario Toscano perfumes? I recently picked up one of their fragrance diffusers for an orange-loving, but haven’t seen or sniffed any of their perfumes.
This Vanilla is the only Erbario Toscano I tried. It is quite pleasant but not very memorable, and it lacks in performance. Just a comforting vanilla I have to respray often to be able to smell it. But it does smell good.
For my trip to Italy, I’m wearing Lorenzo Villoresi Yerbamate which is perfect for this time of year. I will miss my decant when it’s thunked, probably by the end of the year.
I’ve hung crystals in the east windows and had rainbows all over the bedroom ceiling this morning so I stayed in bed longer than usual to enjoy them. Sending you all some sparkle for Friday.
Yay for sparkles – thank you 😀 I need to go outside and check for dew diamonds in my grass, too.
Thanks for the sparkles!
What a great idea about the crystals!
Thanks for sending the sparklies! 🌈
I did a lot of travelling in Italy in the nineties, although I can’t remember what I wore on those trips, if I even wore perfume as a backpacking tourist.
I’m wearing Laura Biagiotti Roma today, which I’ve had a bottle of for over 25 years (not the same bottle mind you, my first was a mini, and I then moved on to bigger things). I think I went through two bottles of Venezia as well at some point, which I enjoyed a lot too, but not as much as sunny Roma.
I’ve always seen it as a slightly trashier and sunnier sister of Dune.
I’m enjoying it a lot, it’s such a happy perfume.
My work was done around midday today and since then I’ve been sort of packing, washing and vacuuming, very relaxing.
I hope you have had a great vacation Robin, I didn’t even know Paestum Rose was discontinued. A shame, such a beautiful rose.
Well I should have verified, but someone said here it was discontinued…and it is not currently on their site. They discontinued the other one I liked too, but the name is not coming to me now. In fact they don’t currently sell anything I care about in the least.
Lovely vacation and decent weather other than a few spots of rain, thanks!
Well it isn’t on their website anymore, so I guess it’s gone. They seem to have only kept a few of their older fragrances. As I mentioned before, I’ve only ever tried Paestum Rose.
I loved Baume du Doge, Bois d’Ombrie and Sienne l’Hiver.
Love Paestum Rose and I’m with Cazaubon in also loving Baume du Doge, which is milky, orange pomander spices, myrrh, benzoin, a little vanilla. Very soothing to me!
Enjoy your break! Great description of Roma.
Thanks!
Ciao a tutti! Buongiorno! Salve!
Omnia for the CP
Anyone smell the new Shalimar yet…
If you mean the iris, I have not yet, but mine is coming on Tuesday. I think Pfsh was getting it yesterday so maybe we will hear something yet today.
Mine is out for delivery. If it gets here before I go to work I will report back.
Hello and tgif!
I am travelling to an Italian coastal town with my sotd TF Rose D’Amalfi. I actually haven’t worn this since Spring!
I just watched the animated film Elemental on Disney+. Pretty cute little rom-com.
Happy Friday happy888cat!
I chose Un Jardin Sur La Lagune, because it was an easy grab. I think of all my Jardin fragrances, this is my least favorite. Maybe I just haven’t worn it enough.
Easily my least favorite too!
Wearing Masque Milano L’Attesa for the CP. 😍
Another gorgeous end of summer day here. I’m having my second cup of coffee with a pumpkin spice muffin. Fall is in the air! Happy Friday!
Scent twin, and guess we’ll see how many people end up on Team Masque Milano.
Yay! We smell great! Hopefully, we will have some company today!
I always think of you when I see L’attesa 🌞
Thank you! You know how much I love it! 😊
You are smelling great!
Thank you, Kris! 🌻
Love your perfume and your breakfast!
Thank you, Cazaubon!
L’Attesa is a True Perfume Love for you.
It is! My favorite iris scent along with Iris Silver Mist!
Hope you have enough of both to keep you happy for a long time.
Only few drops left from my decant of ISM! 😫
Uh oh!
I’m with Robin in Paestum Rose. Extra bonus points because I wore this perfume when we visited Paestum on a lovely, sunny fall afternoon in November a few years back. 🙂 I’m hoarding this one and Sienne l’hiver.
Oh, you smell great Ockeghem. The only Eau d’Italie that I’ve tried (and own) is Paestum Rose. Wearing it during a visit to Paestum probably makes for a great scent memory!
Oh, that does call for extra bonus points!
And thanks, couldn’t remember the name Sienne l’hiver.
I almost would have chosen Paestum Rose as well, but then decided to save it for next week – to me it’s the epitome of an end of summer fragrance!
And yes: their Duchaufour period in the late Noughties, in which they had this clear concept of painting olfacotry pictures of various Italian regions really was brilliant – Baume du Doge and Bois d’Ombrie being other highlights for me. How strange then, that from Acqua Decima onwards they just abandoned their original idea for the expansion of their range.
Right, Baume du Doge…forgot that one, and it was great.
Definitely double points for you today.
As promised, I chose Eva from Italian house Santa Maria Novella. It’s such a beauty, especially in warm weather (which we are having a little spurt of today). Lemon, orange blossom and black pepper wonderfulness. Happy Friday everyone!
Gorgeousness, nice pick!
House Twins SheriG!
SMN Tabacco Toscano purchased at the mother ship itself while my sister waited across the street.
Hi twin! Envious of your visit to SMN HQ!
I’m in Penumbra by Aqua Flor. A yummy vanilla, chocolate scent that’s not too cloying. It’s gloomy and rainy today, I needed some warmth.
I bought 3 scents at Aqua Flor this spring, I loved all of them and it was too hard to decide. I don’t regret a single Euro 😉
I don’t even know the brand but I support not having to choose!
Not sure about cp compatibility but I’m in Parfums de Marly Delina edp.Raspy rose,it’s pretty, but I’m happy with the cute 10ml travelspray I have and won’t need a big bottle.
Happy Friyay!
XO’s🌹
Happy Friday JB!
Happy weekend Robin!Enjoy the beach!🌹🌞
Thank you, I am!
One of these days I will sample Delina. It gets a lot of hype on YouTube.
Have a great weekend!
It was not my favorite from the line when I sampled them but then it was on such a great deal at the Nordstrom Sale this year that I bought a gift set, and I really do love it. There is something very luxurious about it and it’s just very beautiful. JB, you smell lovely!
Thanks Calypso, enjoying the far drydown right now,and it mellows out quite nicely.🌹
Happy weekend babes!
Do try and test Delina, definitely sniff-worthy!🌹🌹
🤗
*The 10ml Delina edp is from the new Skins cosmetics discovery box.12 sample perfumes ranging from 5ml-15ml and some spectacular new-ish releases ranging from Clive Christian to Aqualis,Salle Priveè…plus a 30ml Byredo handcream in Bal d’Afrique.I always jump at these boxes and luckily they do them quite often.✌🏻
I have Delina and the elixir or exclusif..or something like that. Both bottles. I wear them together
What are your impressions of both?Should I seek out the exclusiv(also dunno haha!) as well?
That must have felt nice, typing out “won’t need a full bottle”!
Haha! The double-edged sword of our obsession with perfume I guess…
Happy Friday to everyone!
In Corso Como for the Italian CP.
And I’m putting out feelers for a Chanel Sycomore EdP split (discounted new bottle). Let me know if you’re interested so I can decide whether to purchase. Thank you!
Happy Friday allo!🌞
☀️
You smell great allo!
Thank you! Hope you’re still enjoying the beach🏖
Please tell us more about it… I’m curious.
It’s a 2022/23 version
The bottle was $175 all in and I’ll probably charge the usual $5 for shipping.
You smell wonderful!
😊
Happy Friday allo, you smell great as always.
You’re so kind🌸
Happy Friday to you!
Thank you Jalapeno!
My perfume collection is not very Italian, mostly French and faux French. I went with Theorema, which I think is the only FB I have from an Italian brand. It’s behaving rather oddly on me. I really do love the first 10 or 15 minutes, but after that it settles into a rather faint, ashy smokey scent, rather like the residual scent of incense that was burned a day or two ago. It’s not unpleasant in the least, just a bit disappointing.
I realized after putting it on that I do have a mini of Roma, as well as a bottle of Tosca cologne, which I figure fits the theme as it is named after a character in an Italian opera.
I have been to Italy once in my life, way back in 1985, when I was a college student. Most of the trip was in Austria, but there was a long weekend in Venice, with a day trip to Ravenna. I couldn’t begin to tell you what perfume, if any, I wore on that trip.
Glad to see you here today!
Lol at faux French!
Great to see you!
Nice to see you!
Glad to see you!
I am definitely tightening the purse strings re: discretionary spending, so I hear you. I’m also decluttering in anticipation of a move.
Decluttering in general is a pain, but there are some heavy reasons around NST for that right now.
We’ve been lucky that a lot of things have been rehomed or given to charity. Haven’t had to throw away a bunch of stuff.
I haven’t been on as much either. Nice to see you.
On our first visit to Florence, my husband and I quite accidentally discovered Santa Maria Novella and what a fabulous treat that was. I’ve returned there each time I visit Florence and recommend it as a must to friends and family. For this CP AND for the autumn equinox, I’m wearing my hands down favorite from the brand, Tabacco Toscano. Viva Italia!
Such a lovely shop…I went there in pre-perfumista days and bought nothing, but I still remember how pretty it was.
I highly recommend paying the extra entrance fee to enter the monastery. The various cloister gardens, the stunning Spanish Chapel are worth it. The shop is just a small taste of the hidden gorgeousness of the monastery.
And I bought soap and wax hanging pomanders while I was there.
I stumbled upon the SMN shop in Milan because we were looking for the (very yummy) panini shop that happened to be next door. Serendipitous!
Greetings not from Italy but from sunny Provence. If I were at home I would do like Pyramus and wear Spezie de’ Medici, instead I have found again My Shalimar Tonka applued early this morning and it is still wafting, longevity and sillage are great on this one.
Hope you are having a relaxing time!
Thank you Lillyjo, ohvyes, the weather is gorgeous and I slept like a log.
I’m glad you are having a relaxing holiday.
Thank you Kanuka, it’s a wonderful time of year in Provence.
Glad to hear that you are enjoying beautiful weather during your vacation!
Thank you Jalapeno, it’s a great time to enjoy Provence.
I do not own much in Italian perfumes, but I do have one that I have worn a lot this summer. A wonderful NSTer gave me a large bottle of Ferre by Gianfranco Ferre and I love it. It does remind me of Iris Poudre, but different enough that I can use both of them.
That’s a good one. I swapped away my bottle years ago and miss it when I see it mentioned.
When I first received it, I thought it seemed very familiar to me, so I am wondering if I had it years ago. Regardless, I absolutely love it!
I don’t have much in the way of Italian perfumes either. But I am very happy I have a bottle of the first Bottega Veneta perfume.
Those are good too. I like Bottega Veneta, but don’t have any of it anymore. I had Knot as well, but got a little tired of it.
I can see that with Knot. A little bit of it goes a long way.
Hello! I gotta run today but here are my first impressions of Shalimar Millesime Iris:
It should really be called Shalimar Millesime Caramel! The caramel note is the most prominent from spray to drydown. I would say that it is a gourmand amber, and what keeps it from being too cloying is a leathery quality that lies beneath. The caramel is very airy, like a spun sugar quality and diffusive, but up close you smell more of a leathery, doughy quality, maybe that is where the iris comes in. I really like this leathery undertone. Despite Iris in the name, it isn’t much more powdery than other iterations of Shalimar. It’s a fun perfume to wear, would recommend to gourmand and especially caramel lovers, but not to those looking solely for an iris note. I haven’t smelled it in awhile, but Prada Candy came to mind.
Comparing it to Shalimar MVP, Shalimar MI is more diffusive and a lil sweeter, whereas MVP sits heavier and feels more resinous.
These are just my first impressions though, hope it is helpful to some of you 🙂
And my temporary tooth crown is on! It was a much smoother and painless process than I expected. Thank you all for well wishes 🙂
Thanks a lot for the review Pfsh! It coincides with the ones in Fragrantica. In my case it is “money saved!
I have to agree on “money saved” then…was looking fwd to an ISM-esque iris note at least!
I am not a fan of Shalimar flankers. I have always liked and preferred the EdT, EdP, and Cologne. However, this time, I was hoping for a pronounced iris note. I am not surprised that that is not the case.
We love our Shalimar versions EXACTLY the same!(Cologne is my favorite in Summer, edp for anytime!)
😍🌹🌹🤗
I like the Oda a Vanille flanker Madagascar. That is hands down my favorite Shalimar. This one is a pass for me…I don’t need more sweet perfumes
Hooray! More money for other perfumes you will love 🙂
Phew, yes, money saved…
I may be in trouble. Well, if I don’t like it I will put on the swapmeet. Mine gets here on Tuesday.
I wouldn’t be worried about rehoming as I can see many people enjoying Shalimar MI! Just maybe not too interesting for us perfumistas 🙂 I prefer MVP but don’t mind holding on to this one for those sweet tooth days.
A great review! Thank you for so throughly sharing your thoughts. Lots of folks on Fragrantica are getting caramel too. 😉 I have a bottle on the way so my destiny is sealed…in shrink wrap in this case. 😉 As a gourmand love, I can’t wait to try this.
And yay for your crown being easier than expected…modern dentistry is quite miraculous.
Excited to hear your thoughts too! I enjoy a gourmand every now and then and I think this will be my one sweet treat scent for those days 🤤
I love caramel so I’m happy. 🙂
Money saved with your comparison to Prada Candy.
I just called and took myself off the waitlist at BG
I never liked Prada Candy. I swapped the bottle that I blindly got many years ago. Good you took yourself off the waiting list.
Goodness, don’t put so much faith in my reviews! I haven’t smelled Prada Candy in a long time so take my word with a pinch of salt 😂 but Shalimar MI is undeniably a sweet caramel forward scent.
Well, fortunately I don’t mind caramel and I don’t have a ton of gourmands, and it’s a pretty & iconic bottle, so I’m basically okay with my purchase. I was hoping for iris, though. Will have to go smell that new PdN.
Ooh what is the PdN?
I’m not a huge gourmand person either but I do enjoy that this one is well done. Definitely a fun and easy wear!
Robin posted it today — PdN Iris Medicis Intense. Need to go downtown and see if they have it at Scentrique to sniff…
Thanks for the well spoken and thought out review on the Millesime Iris!
Thank you for your thoughts. My bottle is on its way today, but it sounds like I may be swapping or splitting it.
Great review! I love Candy, so this will be up my alley. Waiting for my bottle to arrive. I don’t think I will need any more Shalimar flankers after this, though!
I haven’t been posting, but I have been playing along with the CP in Valentino, Bvlgari, and Prada. Today is good old infusion d’Iris, of which nothing is lest but a whisper. It’s a beautiful whisper, though.
Last weekend and this week, we have been saying goodbye to my grandmother, who lived 95 amazing years, and got to spend all but the last few days in her farmhouse. I am sad, of course, but I am mostly grateful for her life. She thought perfume was frivolous, but I think she wouldn’t object to a dab of the Prada tomorrow at her funeral.
I am so sorry for your lost, Irisjasmine. Sending comforting hugs and thoughts. 🌻
“loss”
I’m sorry for your loss, and yes, she will forgive you for that.
Sending you my condolences, and a big hug.
I’m very sorry for your loss irisjasmine.
Sending hugs, and sorry for the loss!
But 95!A life well lived.
🌹🤗🤗
So sorry for your loss, but it sounds like a life well lived.
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry! hugs
So very sorry for your loss. 95 years is truly amazing. ❤️
She sounds like she lived a very full life and had lots of personality. Sending you hugs.
My deep condolences, irisjasmine, she sounds like an amazing person. Enjoy your happy memories.
My sympathies on the passing of your Grandmother. 95 is a good run, but it doesn’t take away the sting of missing a loved one. Hugs.
My condolences to you, may her memory be a blessing.
My condolences for your grandmother’s passing and I’m glad that she could be at home where she felt so comfortable until close to the end of her life.
Terribly sorry for your loss. She sounds like a sweet woman. Perfume may be frivolous to her, but it then honors her by wearing it. She’s that special, she was needed, she wasn’t frivolous.
So sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss, Irisjasmine. I miss both of my grandmothers, too.
Since I wanted to save my own Paestum Rose for next week, I went with Maria Candida Gentile’s Hanbury – doesn’t sound Italian, but is actually named after a famous botanical garden along the Ligurian coast.
What a great choice. Amazing garden.
Great choice.
I’m wearing Paestum Rose in the spirit of the CP, but not loving it. For some reason with both that and the other one I have, Baume du Doge, I get a metallic smell. It might just be my imagination due to their being in cans. It’s too bad.
Later on I am planning to switch to wearing my new Indigo Smoke. I’m still in the infatuation phase with it. 😉
That’s a gorgeous photo, again, Robin–Wish I were there!
Oooh, too bad on the metallic smell. I’ve not run into that yet on my two, thankfully.
Me neither. And just in case that helps to dispel the metallic feel: always remember they’re not cans but bone glass 🙂
I learned something today thanks to you, Colognissimo! I had never heard of ‘bone glass’ before and had to look it up. “A milky white glass due to the presence of bone ash or some other form of calcium phosphate.’
I would love to join you there!
Do you think your Paestum Rose is starting to turn?
Indigo Smoke is great!
I’m wearing Bvlgari’s Au Thé Rouge today. I wore this throughout my trip to Italy and Germany back in 2006, when this scent was released.
Is it the same bottle?
Not the same bottle! I thunked a sample during my trip. Got my current bottle a few years ago and it brought back nice memories.
https://www2.bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/sight-sound-magazine/reviews-recommendations/film-week-wonders
My film and perfume match is Alice Rohrwacher’s The Wonders. The setting is the Tuscan countryside and focuses on a family who lives off beekeeping, and is seen through the eyes of their teenage daughter. It’s a coming of age movie but has the quiet, almost plot-less intensity of a Kelly Reinhardt movie, where everything weaves together to create a sense of atmosphere, mood and emotion. It’s also about the ways the modern world impacts on a simpler vision of life. I am matching with Journey, for the honey notes but also because it unfolds slowly and is a very steady, beautiful perfume.
Today is my birthday and most of my paycheck went to bills but I am on vacation next week and have no plans. It’s hard to believe that I am 41. Went to Target to pick up my Tazo chai tea. It’s amazing how it has become so hard to find. I don’t want the skinny stuff nor the organic stuff. Wearing Theorema since I don’t have anything with an Italian city or place name.
Happy Birthday, Dawn! 🎂
Happy birthday and have a great vacation
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday!
Happy Scented Birthday, Dawn! 🎂🎁🎉
The happiest of birthdays to you, Dawn! I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing week off.
Happy birthday!
Happy Birthday, and many more! Glad you found your favorite tea, too.
Happy Birthday! Best wishes for a great 41.
Happy birthday to you!! Hope you had a nice day!
Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday and Happy vacation! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead!
Belated happy birthday Dawn! Hope your vacation is your ideal mix of excitement and relaxation.
Mr. Vee is also a fan of Tazo Chai and has the same difficulty finding it. Amazon has it sometimes, so maybe try there?
Santa Maria Novella! It’s an old-fashioned, pollen-y rose. It will always remind me of visting the SMN apothecary and boutique in Florence…a very long time ago.
I hope everyone has a restful weekend.
SMN Rosa, that is!!
For the CP win, Ortigia Sicilia Ambra Nera. I can’t remember who else wore that this week. My connection is that I loved the novel “The Leopard” when I read it many years ago. I need to re-read it, and see if it still affects me. I’ve tried to watch the movie, starring Bert Lancaster, but it always puts me to sleep – so do most movies, BTW, when I watch them at home, at night. I found the book because of this: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1991/12/23/the-palace-and-the-city If you have a log-in, you can read it the whole article, but the opening gives you an idea of the excellent reporting to follow.
Thank you for this, MossyBerry, I have bookmarked it to read this evening. I loved both the movie and the book.
I used to save a few New Yorkers that had wonderful reports on various topics, but after a couple of moves, I may have let that one slip away. You’ll love that article if you love the book. And I need to give Bert and Claudia another chance. Roger Ebert praised the movie to sky, but most of the cast was just not what I pictured when reading the book.
I am CP compliant in Etro Messe de Minuit. It’s humid where I am today and I am trying to talk myself into going for a little run. I’m okay running in heat but humidity is uncomfortable. Maybe I’ll just go to the gym.
Whatever you choose, you’ll smell great.
Ooohhhhhh……Etro!!!I should have thought about this house too.I still miss the spectacular Heliotrope they did!
Love that hint of cold stone in MdM.
Although I was headed for my library’s Friday Morning Coffee Club with today’s topic baseball great Ted Williams, I began my day with an imaginary trip to Italy in the elegant and spirited Italian designer Trussardi’s Inside for Women scent: coffee, amber and florals. Only a bit sweet and a little creamy but still very enjoyable for a black coffee drinker like myself.
But my journey really blossoms this afternoon: I’m sitting in a piazza with warm golden 🌞 at my back and ancient bricks beneath my feet enjoying another coffee and some tiramisu watching the passers-by. The well-scrubbed wooden table where I sit has a vase of fragrant roses at its center and I close my eyes and deeply inhale the scents that surround me: coffee, roses and cedar. SOTD for today’s cp is L’Or de Torrente. Not only is this fragrance gorgeous, but so is the bottle. Oval-shaped that fits nicely in the hand and covered in gold leaves, it’s luxurious and elegant and bespeaks its contents so well. A favorite scent of mine, I didn’t have to think twice about choosing this for today’s cp as it has always taken me on that imaginary trip to Italy!
Nice weather for us this weekend, we’re going to several outdoor events and fests knowing they soon will end. Hoping everyone has a wonderful weekend ahead! ☕️💐🪵
Heartbreakingly beautiful blue skies for me today. Not even a single puffy little white cloud to be seen. I opened the screen door to the patio earlier today so that Teflon kitty could enjoy some fresh air.
Then I had to shut everything up later on, since some landscapers were chipping up tree branches.
SOTD = Bottega Veneta Knot EdP, from the Sample Stash. Orange blossom is definitely associated with Italy in my mind. So I’m checking off the boxes for Italian perfume house and Italian perfume ingredient, whoo hoo!
Beautiful weather and house twins! It was pretty cold this morning though.
Hiya twin!
I might not need the A/C at night here anymore.
Teflon ok?
You smell fabulous! I remember when that first launched at Sniffa.
Teflon is fine. Her appetite is back, and she is no longer shaking her head and scratching her ears all the time. I have resumed feeding her kibble and treats in addition to the wet food.
We had a beautiful day here today too!
Enjoying these days while I can. I know that autumn rain is coming sooner or later.
So glad you are having beautiful weather too.
It’s another gorgeous late summer day again on Saturday.
Gorgeous sunny day here, but had to shut the windows due to the racket of the roofers next door. Thankfully they’ve gone home now. I wore Dior Gris Montaigne today but am switching to Bottega Veneta now for the evening CP points.
We are scent twins in Bottega Veneta!
Hello twin! 🙂
House triplets with you and lillyjo!
I’m looking forward to a day off tomorrow. I am wearing Bottega Veneta for the cp. I wish I had something from Fendi left.
You smell marvelous!
Thank you!!
Enjoy your day off! Hope that you have another lovely weather day for it.
That’s the plan. I have some serious laundry to do too!
Yuck. Get a bit of fun in too!
Great choice, BV is so good. I also enjoy the flanker Eau de Velours.
No CP points but smelling pretty in DS Durga’s White Peacock Lily today.
Plain old Twinings English Breakfast tea for me today because I’m low on tea supplies. But I’m heading home tomorrow so that’s OK.
We had beautiful weather in DC today. Mr Vee assures me it is finally just as nice in NJ.
I can vouch for gorgeous weather in NJ today!
White Peacock Lily sounds fancy. Is it?
It is a pretty white lily + vanilla whipped cream scent. I haven’t compared them directly, so I may be off on this, but in my mind it is a cousin of Basier Vole.
I’m in a French perfume that I bought in Rome over 9 years ago (where has the time gone??), Fragonard Eau Fantasque. It’s a bit of an oddball, but a cheerful one. I found a great little perfume store in the Trastavere neighborhood that had all kinds of goodies (eta, I think it was this one!!! https://www.romastoreprofumi.it/index_eng.html), and Eau Fantasque charmed me and was relatively inexpensive.
I had a great time in Italy and would love to go back! I also visited the Santa Maria Novella shop in Rome and couldn’t decide on anything, felt stressed about trying to choose, and came away empty-handed. I’ll just have to try again someday!
Kind of scary how fast time slips away.
One day late but I’m in the spirit with Lorenzo Villoresi Spezie, an intriguing mix of spices, incense, and tomato leaf. Last summer, I spent several weeks in Rome and went to the sprawling Sunday flea market where I wandered for hours. Near the end, I found a table with two perfumes, a designer one (some Michael Kors maybe?) and an alluring cobalt blue bottle that I recognized as the LV faceted shape. It was about 3/4 full. I’d recently recovered from Covid and didn’t have my sense of smell back. The vendor wanted a lot for the designer perfume but sold me the Spezie for $10. I couldn’t really smell it but took a chance, figuring the brand was too niche to be faked and for $10, even if it had turned, the bottle was pretty. But once my sense of smell rebounded, I was delighted to find it was perfect. Now each time I wear it, I think of my Rome flea market adventure and my in person blind buy and treasure it doubly.
What a lovely memory – thanks for sharing it, DeniseH!
Thank you AnnE! I try to buy a fragrance wherever I travel to recall and enrich the experience each time I wear it! I’m sure a lot of us do that.
Yes, and it always brings me back. 😊
