Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It’s July, and Canada Day (on Saturday) plus World UFO Day (on Sunday). We're marking the start of National Ice Cream Month with our standard-issue open thread poll. (And don't forget, Donatella will be dropping by on Wednesday.)
Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, your favorite fragrance for July weather, your favorite ice cream flavor, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…
Note: the brass-color bunny head ("HÄGGMISPEL wall decoration, designed by Hanna Grann Dalrot, has a sculptural shape and a clear clay feel that add character to the rabbit's head. A different design that livens up your home’s picture wall") is $17.99 at Ikea.
I remembered my rabbits, and Happy Canada Day (to those who enjoy it). A month of ice cream-that’s something I can get behind 🙂
Scent of the day is Angelique Sous La Pluie – cause I have a bottle coming to me, courtesy of one of the discount sites:) Just in time for Donatella, too. I love this scent but find it a bit more subtle than I remember-think my scent of smell isn’t as sharp as it once was.
… or the perfume was de-masculated (is there a feminine form?).
I just finished a decant of L’Ete en Douce.
Thunk!
Commando for now…until I shower later. Will spray on something summery as we head to hear music down by the bay this evening.
Blue skies, coffee on the back deck, fresh peach scone. The sounds of a nearby family conversation wafting without making out the words. About to hang up a new bird feeder. Summer is good. I’m sure our town is very busy but, even though we are close the main part, we are unaware.
Robin…I meant to mention you smelled good yesterday. I went through my travel spray of Champaca. Enjoyed it greatly.
Sounds like a perfect summer day, enjoy.😎
Fiori di Capri it is!
Fiori di Capri is beautiful! You smell great.
Thank you! Champaca is like an old friend.
Happy weekend!
I have several summer perfumes perfect for July but one of my favorite summer things that we do is crack open the Dr Bronners Peppermint Castile soap, starting in July. The most chilling and refreshing cool showers, especially right before bed in hot weather. Lots of favorite ice creams at our local homemade ice cream place but imo nothing beats a really good vanilla.
Can anyone give me an opinion on Jean Patou Sira des Indes? It’s really cheap at discounters, I can’t tell from reviews if a banana note is a good or bad thing.
I personally would not vote for Sira des Indes as a blind buy.
I use the peppermint and the tea tree exactly for that cooling effect!
As someone who DID blind buy SdI not too long ago, it is pleasant but not very distinct. I find the banana very very mild. I do get compliments on it though. You could do worse for $20 but I don’t know if it’s worth a risk.
What Coumarin says! It is quite nice, but one that sits on my shelf.
Might wear my only German scent today. Lengling #6 A La Carte. I couldn’t wear it yesterday because it’s too heavy for the office. Really a winter scent, but I might wear it today anyway.
Favorite for July weather might be No 5 L’Eau since it’s so crisp and fun. Or Guerlain Lys Soleia for a beachy lily.
Ice cream is a toss-up. Depends on the day. When I was a kid, it was always Baskin Robbins mint chocolate chip. Now, it could be a rich fudge brownie or butter pecan.
No 5 L’eau was my second most worn perfume last summer right after Neroli Outrenoir.
Oh, Baskin Robbins! Now that’s a blast from the past! Are they still around?
They are, but they are owned by the parent company for Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, so most often they are in a dual restaurant.
We have a stand-alone Baskin Robbins near us but I try to stay away, lol!
I have just recently started eating mint chip again, don’t know why. But usually, a nice dark chocolate is what I want.
Rabbit rabbit rabbit! And happy Canada Day to everyone! Even the non-Canadians: we don’t care, you can celebrate along with us, we just want everyone to have a good time. We’re having grilled steak and roasted vegetables for supper. (Roasting is the only way I like Brussels sprouts.)
National Ice Cream Month, is it? So happens I had a little ice cream after lunch: Toblerone chocolate-and-honey ice cream with bits of almond nougat and chocolate. Now how can you beat that?
Today post-gym and post-shower I’m in Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse, a body oil so thickly scented with ylang and vanilla that I wear it as a fragrance. So beachy, so good.
Happy Canada day!🇨🇦 My parents owned a cabin in Canada for many years so my kids grew up celebrating both Canada day and the 4th.
That’s lovely! And they’re so close together — it would be like one extended binational holiday.
Enjoy the day.
Happy Canada day, hope you have a good weekend.
Enjoy the day, Toblerone ice cream must be heavenly.
Happy Canada Day! We are currently rained out in Montréal with thunderstorms. I think the fireworks were already cancelled anyway due to all the smoke. That Toblerone ice cream sounds fab!
Remembered my rabbits…after I read the above about rabbits! I’ll never remember this in my own.
I’m covered for ice cream month because Fred Myers had BOGOF on Tillamook flavors yesterday. 👍🏼
SOTD is AG Ninfeo Mio. So sick of summer already, I wish I could hibernate in a cool cave like a big ol’ crotchety bear. Predicted to be in the high 90’s this week.
Hope everyone has better weather than me 🥵
Hot here too, and although I love summer I am finding that as I get older I am less and less tolerant of hot. I like about 72 and breezy with cool nights for sleeping.
Enjoy your ice cream!
Working on Coffee Almond Fudge as we speak! 🙌
Our old house came with an old outdoor thermometer that has words off to the side – freezing at 32, hot at 90, etc – and at 72 it says “ideal”. I agree!
Ha! Awesome.😎
I love your thermometer!
Oh but you smell fresh.
Thank you! I’m faking it until I make it! 😉
Sounds like you’re in Oregonland!
You and I both are sick of summer. What’s up with the people who love heat and summer? Regardless, I love everyone!
Yes, and it’s not supposed to be THIS hot here, which is why I accepted a contract. Anywho, we are back to work tonight, so headed back inland to a hotel for a couple of days. The folks that love this kind of heat must have poor circulation. 🙃
You can come and throw snowballs for the dogs with me!
Summer is brutal this year. 🥲
Yes. Yes it is. 🥵
I was still awake at midnight, so I said my rabbits then. My family sure could use some good luck, the second half of June was rough. My parents have both tested positive for 🦠in the past few days. My dad on Thursday and my mom yesterday. I talked to her on the phone yesterday morning and she sounded terrible! She texted me later and was on the way to urgent care. Both are being treated with paxlovid, and my dad felt better pretty quickly after starting it so I hope my mom will too. They are still in Florida so I feel especially helpless that they are so far away.
Anyway, perfume! And ice cream! I’m in By Killian Love don’t be shy on one wrist and Art Meets Art Like a Virgin LE on the other. These are virtually the same perfume. Even the juice is the exact same color, I swear. I have a bottle of the Art Meets Art and just a sample of the Killian. Clearly I don’t need it.
As for ice cream, my favorite is always a combo of coffee flavored ice cream with some kind of chocolate thrown in….Espresso Oreo, Java Chunk, yum.
It’s overcast here this morning and we did get a bit of much needed rain. I’ve got errands to run and hopefully a much overdue and needed pedi.
Be well y’all!🌞
Well wishes to your parents!
Thanks lillyjo!
Sending get well vibes to your parents.
Thanks Aurora!
Covid is the gift that just keeps on giving. Hope everyone is feeling better soon! ❤️🩹
Thanks Deva. Yeah, I was so happy that (up til now) they had managed to avoid it.
Ugh! I hope they both feel better soon!
I know, right? Thanks!
I hope your parents recover quickly.
Thanks Kanuka- me too!
The plague goes on, sorry about your far-away parents and hope they are better soon.
Thanks ringthing!
Healing vibes for mom & dad! I’m with you on chocolate & coffee ice cream!
Thanks cazaubon!
Oh no, you really are having a string of troubles! Hope the paxlovid will work quickly.
July has to be better! Thanks!
So sorry to hear about your parents.
Thanks Coumarin!
I hope your folks feel better very soon. 🤞🏻
Thanks Nancyleandros!
I hope your parents get well soon! Speaking of coffee ice cream, usually one of my top two flavors, when we lived in NJ, there was a great local ice cream store that made its own products. My fave was their coffee ice cream with bittersweet hot fudge sauce. That was back when I still had a real metabolism, lol.
Thanks! That ice cream sounds delicious!
Hope your parents are doing well today!
Thanks MossyBerry!
Aw, hope that your parents are feeling better soon and have no ill effects from COVID.
Thanks Jalapeño!🤞
Popping in to say hi. Will try to catch up on comments later. The rain that came through on Thursday was followed by a wind storm of scary moments. I am on hour 45 of no power. Since it stormed more last night and this morning I doubt it was safe for the Duke workers to be out. All is well but some unfrozen leftovers may be a loss. Wearing Cafe Tuberosa for going out for breakfast. And still glad for the rain, which is much needed.
That’s a long time without power. I hope it gets restored soon.
Glad you’re safe, hopefully you will get power back sometime today.
Oy! I was obsessively trying to figure out the expire by time for foods in the refrigerator back when we had a “longish” power out situation. My longest time for the regular refrigerator section time was 4 hours (and +1 hour if I only opened the fridge door for < 5 minutes) and 24 hours (and +4 hours if I opened it for < 5 minutes). There’s nothing scientific about this but I lived to tell the tale after a 4.25 hour power out situation.
Yes, not opening the fridge is a key part of things. Since nearby areas had power, we bought ice, loaded bowls and pans with it, and quickly slipped it in the fridge. That did a lot to keep temps cool.
I hope you get power soon so life can return to normal
Yikes, that is a long time. I hope it comes back on today and you can get your life back!
I sure hope your power is back on! That’s a crazy long time.
Good luck!! We had a six day outage in April, it was the pits.
Oh no, I am so sorry.
Oh yuck, sorry about your power! I hope it comes back soon.
Reminds me of Hurricane Ike when we lost power for over a week. I would just lay on the floor by the window and read.
Thanks again, everyone! I know some of you had much longer outages. I’ve put in place a new emergency plan for food preservation! We powered up around 9:30 last night.
Long wait, but thank goodness you have power again.
Fresh apricots and yogurt smoothie
In July I always wear some Eau de Rochas and Eau de Guerlain, I slightly prefer EdG these days. Favorite ice cream from the British supermarket is clotted cream and raspberry ripple, so delicious.
I did a lot of tidying up today and am about to start on cooking a cauliflower.
I spent the day in PC Jasmine White Moss, doing its Cristalle impression, it actually quite a lot more diffusive than Cristalle, and tonight it’s TF Noir Extreme and I’m enjoying the soft spices of this gourmand which is not sickly.
Tidying up twins! That ice cream sounds delish, except for the “clotted” part…😐
Yay for being domestic twins today, clotted cream is a delicacy from the south west of England, it’s very morish🥰
I am very fond of both apricots and Eau de Rochas, esp the EdR bottle.
Oh yes, iconic bottle.
I had clotted cream, jam and home made scones for lunch today, yum! Never had an ice cream equivalent but I’m sure it’s wonderful.
Oh, wonderful, that’s a typical tea time feast in England, yes, the ice cream is very creamy with real crushed raspberries.
Yum, how do you do the cauliflower? I go through at least one head by myself a week, though I always buy two at a time, just in case….
Very simply in water before serving with grated nutmeg and a little bit of real butter.
Yum!
I tried roasting a head of cauliflower, and decided that it wasn’t nearly as tasty as roasted broccoli or roasted Brussels sprouts.
My favorite way to eat cauliflower is raw.
🐇 🐇🐇 and I have 3 more sets to give away if you somehow did not get around to saying it!
SOTD = Goldfield and Banks Ingenious Ginger
Enabler pin goes to apsara as even though I knew this existed, I was spurred on by her enthusiastic comment! Indeed, it is FBW!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CuKgrMSRT9B/?igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA==
I’ll be doing extra Caturday posts and here’s one from my mini-cat calendar:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CuKeLw2RY7g/?igshid=Y2I2MzMwZWM3ZA==
Oh, I saw that scent mentioned and was intrigued. Did you get a FB?
No, I am trying to minimalize, no pun intended.
I will take an extra rabbit from you, thanks.
Thanks for the rabbits, I never remember. Need to try that ginger!
I will take that third set, please and thank you.
An enabler pin and a kitteh!!! so lucky I am!
I wore this yesterday for haircut and mani pedi and sprayed myself again when I got in my bathrobe last night to do some reading/scrolling.
Earthquake here in middle of night. First one I have felt in a long time.
That Ingenious Ginger travel spray is quite pretty looking!
Although it’s still dark I can see the hills all around are covered in snow. It looks like a good fall but not as low as the city. But it’s bitter outside with a cold wind. Much as I love an open fire there is a real luxury to getting up to a warm house, with heat pumps programmed to come on at 5am. I do love a fire though, the bigger the better. I’m reading a novel set in Penang with Somerset Maugham as a character …kind of the opposite, heat-wise. Wearing Black Anise, a simple star anise and tobacco combination.
https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/may/11/the-house-of-doors-by-tan-twan-eng-review-tragedy-in-the-tropics?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Having a nice thunderstorm here. I love a good fire and central heat on a timer as well. Thanks to the rain they lifted the campfire ban at the campground we’re going to next week, just hope it doesn’t continue raining the whole time we’re there.
Back in Eau de néroli doré.
I’ve been letting go of some of my fragrances lately: I’ve given away Bvlgari Black, Dior Homme Parfum, Gucci Mémoire d’une Odeur, and even back-up bottles of Habit Rouge and Shalimar.
I may part with more soon, and I think I could be happy with only my Hermès fragrances: Terre d’Hermès and its flankers (Eau Très Fraîche, and Eau Givrée), Eau des merveilles and L’Ambre des merveilles, Eau de néroli doré, and Galop d’Hermès.
I could go the rest of my life with just Hermes. Except, have to have Tam Dao & Philosykos.
I’ll probably keep the Guerlain classics to sniff from time to time. As it is, I don’t wear them much.
What about *Covet,* hmmmm? 🙂
I did not mean that I was about to give everything away! Just that I *could*, presumably, live with just those few 😉
I could do only Hermes too, if there was a cash prize to incite such a change. Galop particularly is never the wrong choice.
I would probably wear Galop more if it were more accessible. But most days I wear one of the fragrances from the Terre line and they always work perfectly.
I do need to let some go! For the last two years, I’ve been impressed with the value of a nice decant or travel spray as far as just wearing a great perfume goes. But, the artistic quality of so many bottles always lures me on or gives me pause!
Yes, a decant or a travel spray goes a long way. I used to always go for the biggest bottle, usually 100 ml or 200 ml, but I find a 50 ml bottle perfectly serviceable now. And if I can get it as part of a gift set with some extras, even better!
Ice cream month! That’s fantastic. Last night I had butter pecan ice cream with potato chips crumbled over the top. It was delicious. I have an ice cream maker that I should set up and make some kind of unusual flavor, but I don’t eat much of it so a quart lasts quite a long time. I ordered the Kerosene sampler from Luckyscent and it arrived yesterday, so I’ll be wearing them all week. I don’t know which one I’ll put on for today.
The potato chip idea is intriguing.
I’m still working my way through my samples from Luckyscent, and have ordered mote already! I was going to get the Kerosene sample pack like Foxbins, but it triggered the high overseas postage cost, so I ordered just a few individual samples. I’d already tried Copper Skies and like it a lot, so I’m very keen to try more.
Of the current samples, I really like Enlèvement au Sérail, it’s a lovely rich floral as I remember it, but it is expensive. I really don’t think I can justify that. I also like the Rubj VdE. Next to the EdP, it’s a bit wan, but alone it’s a very nice cuminy orange blossom.
I also tried Harvest Mouse, I really wanted to like a perfume with such a cute name, but it’s too sweet for me.
The old Enlèvement was such a beautiful scent. In some ways it’s quite similar to Jubilation 25 (Amouage), not cheap either but easier to find at a discount.
I had no idea Enlèvement was back, I heard it would never be re-released due to IFRA.
I’ve been following its rerelease doggedly! Apparently they found a solution that makes them satisfied but MDCI does say it is a bit changed anyway.
I remembered to rabbit, and turned my Nikki McClure calendar to the July page to find that it reads “SHIMMER” and features a person cannonballing into deep blue sea water. Seems just right.
I think this will be a summer in which to pose the question, “How much Terracotta is too much?” Liberally spritzed over my sunscreen today and headed to the pool with Little Biscuit and a few of our friends for a few hours of heat-beating splash time. Also, we unwittingly started off Ice Cream Month with a bang this morning, when a pint each of Haagen Dazs white chocolate raspberry truffle and rum trés leches cake ice creams hopped into our shopping basket along with a box of hibiscus mint popsicles (my personal favorite).
I wore Terracotta to the pool yesterday, too!
First time in forever I remembered to rabbit!!
I visited the Bastogne War Museum today which was very interesting. It focuses on the Battle of the Bulge as seen through the eyes of four people involved in it. I thought it was very well done.
SOTD was Mandragore.
It must have been grim, from the little I know.
It was, I knew it had happened and that it had been one of the major battles of WWII, but I wasn’t aware of the fact that the Americans had suffered such severe losses in it.
If you’re interested in that, the book “Band of Brothers”, which follows a real company of American soldiers, covers part of the Battle of the Bulge, where they fought (among many other battles). It was made into a TV mini-series for HBO, and there’s an episode called “Bastogne”, about the battle: https://screenrant.com/band-of-brothers-battle-of-the-bulge-true-story/.
I think it was advertised in the museum, but I didn’t pay it enough attention. Thank you for this!
Etro Palais Jamais this morning (as part of Letting it Go), but I sweated most of it off during barre class. So now Tauer Maghreb. It’s too hot and smoky for anything else!
I love Palais Jamais, need to dig that out. Joining you in the house with Tauer Lys du Désert.
I’m wearing Mango Skin and it’s very pleasant I’m the heat.
I need to pull out my PdN Eau Exotique, if I still have any. And if it has not gone off by now.
I remembered my rabbits today; actually at midnight-ish last night, since I was still up.
No CP points for me today, I am in a different country altogether with Roses Et Reines, courtesy of a pretty lil rollerball bottle from a lovely NSTer.
And your rabbits already brought you luck, since it’s Saturday and CP points are over for the weekend 🙂
Favorite ice cream? Luckily we’ve still had pistachio ice cream at our local market, so it’s been the go-to flavor. Last time we did a big grocery shop, I noticed a Nanaimo Bar flavor as well; sadly I didn’t pick it up but if I do see it again, it will be coming home with me!
I also have an ice cream maker, and try to make it at least once a year. Previously I’ve made a raspberry and a blackberry batch (separate flavors). Both were good although they could have used even MORE flavor; kind of surprising because I thought I used enough fresh berries in the process. Maybe I will try a coffee or mocha flavor this year.
Wearing ELDO Fils de Dieu today; it’s great for the heat we are experiencing. I’m not picking up the rice note but I am getting more of the spices, although I did overspray myself this morning.
Oh wow, Nanaimo Bar ice cream, now that sounds good! But I do love pistachio too.
Seriously, Nanaimo Bar sounds fantastic! I hope I see it again. Not sure why I didn’t grab it!?
I used to make ice cream and once around Thanksgiving I made a cranberry kind and it was fantastic! Also it was the prettiest rich pink color. Just a thought maybe for later in the year (I used fresh berries but I’m sure frozen ones would work too).
That sounds so good, I will have to put that one on the list. I love using fresh anything if I can. Thank you for the wonderful idea!
My favorite ice cream is spumoni, because otherwise I can’t choose between my favorites: pistachio, chocolate and cherry! 😀
Wow, sounds like a trifecta of perfection. How have I not heard of this?
Both my parents knew about it and would always be on the lookout for it when ice cream was called for. It’s never been widely available anywhere I’ve lived, perhaps being edged out by Neapolitan (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate). I bet you’ll find it at your local giant and/or fancy-schmancy grocery store though.
I remember spumoni! I only ever saw it at Italian restaurants when I was growing up.
That makes sense why I haven’t seen it!
No ice cream today as we’re having thunderstorms so my shop is closed, but I hope to make up for that soon. I do have some Vietnamese Iced Coffee ice cream in the freezer, but I need to get chocolate to go with it. They have a campfire s’mores ice cream here made by a local shop, that’s on the list too. And hopefully some actual s’mores on our camping trip next week. Wearing Tauer Lys du Désert. Wore a Hajusuuri dose on Thursday and husband actually complained and opened the windows, which he never does. But I did smell fabulous.
Oooh Vietnamese iced coffee ice cream, sounds so delicious!
Hello all!
I’m doing all the homework this weekend! With a final both Wednesday and Thursday, I’m running out of time. But I don’t have plans tomorrow or Tuesday, so it will get done. I’m very close to getting an A in both classes, so I’m just trying to keep focused.
I’ve been mostly perfumeless today since I take a very quick cold shower twice a day since it’s so so hot. I put my Drop d’Issey lotion next to my desk though and it’s been a real treat. Might top it off with a spritz after Jicky’s last walk of the day.
Have a great weekend everyone.
I don’t allow myself to buy ice cream often but I’ve been making granitas this summer. I ran across a recipe for tangerine granita which inspired me, though I haven’t made that one yet. But I’m finishing off a dragon fruit one that’s very refreshing.
Ooh, that does sound like a good idea, the granitas. Where do you find the recipes?
I’ve been very loosely following this one, just choosing whatever fruit strikes my fancy!
https://www.seriouseats.com/how-to-make-granita-frozen-desserts
Thanks for this!
This is great! Thank you!
Then when is your Iceland trip? I did see some scents made there when I went, back in around 2015, but didn’t wind up buying any. Instead I bought several products from the Blue Lagoon involving their specialty “mud” soaps and so on from there. Really nice things and they smelled good too.
I leave Sunday! I’ve already scoped out a few shops for a souvenir but I think the duty free may hold what I’m looking for. 😉
Good luck with your finals!
Thank you!
You’ll get the As I’m sure! Stay focused!
Thank you Robin! Plugging away at homework at the moment. 😂
Hot and wet here, wearing Néroli Outrenoir.
Hot and wet here too!
Joining the club having experienced thunderstorms and power outages earlier this week! We live in a city so outages are thankfully quite rare, and usually short, but this one lasted about 14 hours (mostly overnight). Luckily for us, we hadn’t yet hit this weekend’s heatwave, so it stayed cool enough to sleep.
Yesterday’s SOTD, after a sweaty few hours in the garden watering everything, was Un Jardin Sur le Nil. Every time I wear it, I wonder why I don’t just bathe in it. It’s so refreshing in hot, humid weather! It will be another hot one today, with more thunderstorms expected in the late afternoon/early evening. I won’t put on any fragrance before heading outside and sweating it all off, but I may go with Sur le Nil again after a shower later.
Glad your outage was short. The rain that kept coming in our area did cool things down, so our house never got too hot even though the temps went up.
Initio Side Effect from a split by the Hostess with the Mostess, hajusuuri. Love this one a whole lot! 🥰
And the name is just right for a nurse!
Wearing Guerlain AA Pamplelune for a hot, humid, uncomfortable day.
I love ice cream in general and I do not have a favorite flavor. Now in my freezer TJ’s Black Tea & Boba ice cream, Häagen-Dazs Bourbon Vanilla Bean Truffle ice cream and Häagen-Dazs Mango Sorbet.
Happy Sunday! 🍦🍧🍨
Exactly what I would expect in your freezer for ice cream!
You are the queen of fantastic desserts!
Lol! Thank you! 🍨
How are you liking Pampelune? I believe Persolaise mentioned it in a video awhile back.
Pamplelune is one of my favorite summer scents. It is bright, cheerful and very refreshing. The best grapefruit scent I have owned so far.
Awesome, thank you! 😊
Glad you love it. I believe he said there’s something very special about it!
The weather was so horribly sticky today that I took out the trash, checked the mail, and called it enough. YUCK!
We had light rain for approximately 20 minutes, and that has made the humidity even worse. It is unbearable right now.
It snowed heavily all day and the wind was bitter cold but fortunately we didn’t have to drive anywhere ( because we couldn’t) so ended up watching movies all day, including The Sacrifice ( Tarkovsky) , and Rashomon ( Kurosawa). What a treat. I think The Sacrifice is in my top 5 movies of all time, so stunning. Wearing Journey, for another day at home.
Snow!
Snow!!!
I’ve never seen a Tarkovsky film, although I know he is a widely admired director. I think Andrej Zvyagintsev is sometimes compared to him.
Gosh, snow, haven’t seen any in a long time.
This one was like a Ingmar Bergman movie
Rashoman is an incredible movie. I’ve watched it at least 5 times
Yep, brilliant movie
Thank you, NST’ers, for all the hand-pats about our 3-day power outage! Power finally came back around 9:30pm yesterday. We lost some convenience foods from the freezer. But thanks to Mr. Mossy’s love of thermometers, we knew that the thawed meat and some other items stayed below 40 degrees, and are safe to cook over the next few days. I admit I was a bit grumpy about having to do a surprise “secret ingredient” menu plan. But today’s chicken breasts and random veggie sides turned out fine. I know to be grateful that I have the problem of too much food rather than otherwise! SotD Bois d’Armenie for its comforting waft.
Yay for power!
And HOW!
Glad that the power is back! And that most of your food is OK.
Hooray for power! That’s a long stretch! I grew up in northern wisconsin, where we experienced frequent power outages. We had a longer one like that when I was a kid and my mom happened to be out of town, dad and I ate all our meals in the area pubs.😆 They have a generator now.
Happy to hear that your power is back on! Also a Good Thing that you didn’t lose much in the way of food.
Give Mr. Mossy a brownie point for his thermometers. 😉
I’m in Thomas Kosmala Frenesie, which is turning into a big, sweet floral on me. Yikes! I’ll have to pass this one on.
The sample is from the wonderful sniffa last week with Calypso and Oakland Fresca. It was so wonderful to get together with others, sniff and speak our special fumie language! ❤️
Oh, ice cream! I’m a fan of Häagen-Dazs vanilla bean, and Blue Bell mint chocolate chip. I’m a fan of soft serve frozen yogurt, too. Menchie’s! 😋
