Happy Friday and happy Bloomsday! Birthdays today: Geronimo, Adam Smith. Our community project for today is Close to Home...wear a perfume that comes from a local maker, or has your location in its name or backstory, or maybe uses a ingredient/ plant that is native to your area, or interpret this howsoever you like. Thanks go to Kanuka for the suggestion!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Kaleidoscope for the many years that my husband kept a large vegetable garden out back.
Reminder: on 6/23 we will do a community project, but as usual I am behind. I'll announce the project by Monday!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Stella for my rose week. My roses are lovely but something is devouring my poor blooming clematis, the flowers are tattered to say the least.
Heading to an interesting looking estate sale this morning. Probably no perfume but it’s always fun to browse. Happy Friday, everyone!
Yes, estate sales are so interesting. A life on display, so to speak.
Fingers crossed for the estate sale!
Yay, I wore Stella twice this week! You smell great. Have fun at the sale! Let us know if you pick anything up!
Humiecki & Graef Eau Radieuse (blue) and Profumum Roma Acqua Viva (yellow). It is getting hot again, so I went with fresh scents. Mint, lemon and lots of different green notes. A very summery combo!
I love Acqua Viva! You smell great.
I’m in Eau de Wisconsin from Zodica perfumery. Produced in a little town about 30 miles outside of madison. Top Notes: Grapefruit, Blackberry, Neroli, Clementine, Pear Middle Notes: Violet (Wisconsin’s State Flower), Green Sage, Freesia, Lavender
Bottom Notes: Tobacco Flower, Amber, Cedarwood, Sandalwood
On my skin I get mostly blackberry and violet. It’s very pretty. Do I need a bottle? Nah, but this cp was a good excuse for me to order a sample which looks to be about 3 mls, just perfect for a few wears. The perfumery also makes, as you may guessed from the name, a perfume for each zodiac sign. I haven’t tried any of them but I’d like to.
Today is packing day! My teenager leaves for camp Sunday. We’ve been doing this so long we’ve gotten it down to a science. Plus, the camp makes checklists so we are sure not to miss anything. Six weeks is a long time to be away from home. Thirty of those days she’ll spend in Canada’s Saskatchewan canoeing, camping and portaging. I hope she has the best time. I can’t wait to hear all about it.⛺️🛶
Saskatchewan is a great place for camping and canoeing, spent a lot of my childhood there. Don’t forget the bug spray!
That sounds so fun (the camp part, not necessarily the packing part).
I had no idea Violet was the state flower. Good to know! Will check out the website.
Oooh, canoeing in Saskatchewan! That will be so fun!
I tried to get Ockeghem Teen into a kayaking camp in Desolation Sound in BC this year, but she waited to see if she could talk a friend into it and it filled up immediately. Note to self for next year: Don’t even wait 2 hours. She seems good with the normal sleepaway camp this year, fortunately.
I bought their Scorpio perfume at one of the Renegade Craft Fairs in Chicago! I don’t feel like my personality is very Scorpio-like, but I went with the fragrance named after my sign and I like it :). I also liked the Pisces one a lot if I remember correctly.
I’m wearing Fille en Aiguilles, for the pine. This is working surprisingly well in today’s hot, humid weather (101 predicted today). I chose it because the part of Texas in which I live is called the Piney Woods.
With luck you can spend time in the middle of a deeply-shaded forest today, or feel like it at least
It reminds me of the pine forests on the southwest coast of France in the summer. Lovely choice!
Love your choice.
I just love that one. One of my favorite Lutens. Lutenses.
Also one of my favorites. I wish it hadn’t been discontinued.
I grew up in Nacogdoches!
I happened to find a bottle of Terre d’Hermès Eau Très Fraîche (125 ml) and snapped it up. It joins my bottles of the Eau de Toilette and Eau Givrée. I cannot believe I never gave this a chance before, but at least I have it now.
I always like trying the variations of my favorites – good find!
Later on I will spritz on some Fox in the Flowerbed for the CP, the IA house being headquartered nearby. But right now I’m in Caleche edt, courtesy of a very kind and generous NSTer. This formulation is a bit short-lived, but I don’t mind because it’s so light and lively and sparkling. And beautiful, of course. Happy Friday everyone!
Yep, you smell fantastic SheriG!
I love Fox in the Flowerbed…circling a FB, rather than the travel size I have….
Oh, but the label on the FB is half the fun! In the words of our own hajusuuri, “dooo eeeet”! 🤣
Basking in 4160 Tuesday’s Oakmossery – my first impression is that it is the fruity chypre I always hoped Mitsouko would be for me. Maybe a few CP points for close to home, as in my “nom de parfum.”
Hey, points for creativity 🙂
Ooh, I think I see an enabler pin in your future. 😉
I have two different bottles of Mitsouko edt, from 2000 and 2010. Both are nice – in the way that I’m never unhappy with any Guerlain – but of course others seem to find more in it. Probably a vintage parfum would reveal the mystery, but I won’t seek that out. Any Oakmossery enabler pins would have that extra Second Generation shine, because hajusuuri may get one from me, LOL.
Second generation, lol!
I’ve only tried the EdP, which was given to me by a very generous perfumista. I need to try the EdT *and* Oakmossery.
On the strength of your description, I’ve added Oakmossery to my list of future samples. I haven’t tried any 4160 Tuesdays yet, it’s one of those brands that has been on my radar for years, it’s time to dip my toes in, so to speak.
My only FB (which was based on sampling first!) is Babylon Sunset – a very fruity perfume with a great base. If you ever try that one, do report back!
Wearing Bond No.9 Eau de New York for the CP. It is a very green, citrusy, refreshing scent. It reminds me of TF Neroli Portofino.
Another warm, but less humid day. We are expecting thunderstorms early this afternoon.
On my third cup of coffee and a slice of red velvet cake. Looking forward to the long holiday weekend.
Happy Friday! 🌻
Hoping for thunderstorms here tonight. We got thunder but no rain yesterday, and we really need it.
It has been pretty dry here too. I really hope we get the so promised rain.
We did actually get our rain, hope you did too!
☕☕☕!
I gladly receive your coffee. I really need it right now! ☕️☕️☕️
Good morning all, SOTD will be Idylwild. Although I am not near it, its sure is California to me.
Yes it is! Definitely reminds me of parts of California.
I decided on Lyric yesterday and I am drawing a blank for the CP today. So I am in Kyoto today. Had some thunderstorms yesterday and we didn’t lose electricity.
We just had our storms, and same…bit of water in the basement but not much, and we kept power.
Since I’m just a hop, skip and a jump from Chicago, for Friday’s ‘close to home’ cp, I’ve chosen the second fragrance from TruBlooms, a Chicago-based perfume developer whose mission combines sustainability, urban beautification and economic development through the planting and cultivating of flowers and gardens specifically for use in a fine fragrance. Throughout city parks and urban garden spaces, 27 gardens were cultivated for Tru Blooms, providing specialized job training for more than 150 workers and creating approximately 60 jobs. Local volunteers and farmers employed by nonprofit organizations cultivated the gardens.
TruBlooms calls Fountain of Roses ‘a beautiful aquatic floral’ with top notes of sparkling orange and kumquat zest, a heart of rose geranium, lavender, LOTV, and pink rose petals, resting on a bed of blonde woods, patchouli, and warm musk, meant to evoke an image of a fountain overgrown with roses. It’s a perfect summer rose scent.❤️
A bit ironic that for ‘close to home’ Friday, we’re headed out ‘away from home’ for the weekend, headed to WI to the Leinenkugel Brewery for its annual summer fest featuring beer 🍺 (of course), brats, and lots of 🎶. We’ve gone many times but not since the pandemic so we’re looking forward to another bit of returning to normalcy. Since we’re headed to Chippewa Falls and WI Indian Head country, my ‘close to home’ scent for the weekend will be the very appropriate Dame Perfumery Sky Father, its lemon-lime notes temper its spices for a refreshing summer fragrance.
Wishing everyone a great weekend ahead!🌹
I hope you have a very happy weekend and I loved your story about your perfume
Thank you. I ❤️ perfume stories!
Does your SOTD read as an aquatic to you?
No, it’s TruBlooms that calls it an aquatic floral. Unless you count morning dew as ‘aquatic,’ what I mostly get is a very fresh young rose with a bit of morning dew, and a bit of green but no spice, which makes it a delightful light summer rose fragrance.
How cool, I’d never heard of them before! I’ll have to visit their store sometime.
I don’t know that there ever was a ‘store’ as such; I bought mine at the Chicago Botanic Gardens a few years ago.
For the community project I’m using my 9 mL bottle of Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey for the farmers markets in my area that sell local nectarines, peaches, and honey in the summer.
Num
that is a great pairing for the CP
Wearing Cristalle, my first Real Perfume that I bought, reminding me of college in Montreal.
How sweet! I remember buying Dior Eau Fraîche in Toulouse on my first business trip. It’s nice to have those memories.
Your first Real Perfume! Say, that would be a fun community project! Wear your first real perfume….
Indeed!
Yes!
Twins!
I’ll second/third/fourth meredifay and say that your idea would make a great CP!
I think my First Real Perfume was the original Balmain de Ivoire. Still have it.
I have nothing that is made in or really reminds me of Montréal, so I’m going with Cuir Cannage.
Can’t go wrong with Cuir Cannage — one of my absolute favorites.
Last day in Brittany and still honouring the house of Divine, with their first fragrance (that happens to be my favourite of theirs), the lovely Divine eau de parfum.
I love that house. 🩷 Mention of it always brings me back to a long-ago Sniffapalooza, back when Takashimaya was still on the list. I bought L’Homme Sage there.
Now Yann Vasnier is on my shortlist of favorite perfumers.
You small radiant!
I love a lot of his creations, but he did not actually create Divine, I think it was done by Richard Ibañez.
He did L’ Âme Sœur, L’Homme de Cœur and L’Homme Sage.
Oops. Guess I should have double-checked that. 😳
Not needed at all on my account 🙂
Takashimaya!!! Ah, memories. 🙂
That must be double points as both the Divine house and Yan Vasnier are born in Brittany!
The Divine EdP is gorgeous.
Happy Friday and Happy Youth Day in South Africa!
I’m on standby today and this weekend,,,hold those thumbs again please!
Dior Tendre Poison.I wanted to smell like Spring on a very cold Winter’s day
XO’s
Good luck! How cold is it? Joining you in feeling the chill…but not long now until the days get longer.
June 21st is always my favorite day of the year!
It was like 15° celcius today at noon…(Lol)
XO’s
I love your winters! Have a great weekend and keep warm…buy a beanie!!!
We were so close to being twins today. At the last minute I chose Cristalle. You smell wonderful 🌞
And so do you babes!
Happy weekend!🤗🌞🤗❣️🌹
Fingers crossed that your weekend is boring!
I am in Naïve from Documents 闻献, a Shanghai brand from the recent niche trend in the Chinese market. Signed by Yann Vasnier, Naïve is a classic green citrus, with some touches on grass and white flowers — a good antidote against the heat and my bad moods.
I love your honesty! And your fragrance sounds perfect for this time of year.
Thanks, AnnE!
I just read that Yann Vasnier may be your favourite perfumer. What a coincidence! I quite love his creations as well! In fact, I went to the brand Documents exactly because of his name. I think he has some Midas fingers to turn some average materials into great works.
Have you tried Donna Karan Gold (EdP, 2006)? It is also signed by Yann Vasnier, with Calice Becker and Rodrigo Flores-Roux, both of whom are very great at floral scents. It is one of the best scents I ever encountered. An indolic, green yet ambery lily — sensual, even lusty. You must try it. Strongly recommended!
I’ve never tried DKGold. At some point, I got it mixed up with her original scent, which I disliked. I’ll have to sample it!
My samples from La Fleur by Livvy haven’t arrived yet so I couldn’t do 5 Colorado perfumers in 5 days. I’m sampling Halycon Honeysuckle from Wit and West since that’s the perfume house that’s closest to me (less than 10 miles)
That seems like you got pretty close!
Bond No 9 New York Tribeca
Hope it was a good day today ltsg!
I’m wearing Carthusia Mediterraneo for the CP. I bought this from a small store here in Seattle as a reward to myself on the day we closed on our house here in Seattle almost six years ago now. We had moved from Colorado four months earlier (where we had lived for 25 years) and I was still pretty sad about leaving, but very happy to have a house again. The funny perfumista part of the story is that I was late to the closing because I got engrossed at the store sniffing perfumes and then took the freeway in the wrong direction…but I made it and we still live in the house!
Great story, springpansy! Mediterraneo is my favorite Carthusia.
It’s the perfect lemon fragrance, I just need it to last longer!
Just keep spraying, baby!
That story gives you, IMHO, *major* Perfumista credits. 🙂
Ha!
That’s pretty funny! How did Mr. springpansy react?
He was patiently waiting. But I probably didn’t mention the sniffing that delayed me…
BTW, saw your question about Tam Dao this morning: I have the EdT.
Thanks! The Tam Dao EdT seems to be the clear favorite here at NST.
So glad you landed in Seattle and you certainly smell fabulous😊
Back in Roísín Dubh, for much-missed Galway.
Since I posted so very late yesterday, I will repeat my thanks for the many good wishes on my birthday. It was a good day! We are back to chilly rain today — again, we need the water, so okay — but it looks like the weekend will be sunny and pleasant. Some of those thunderstorms are on their way here this afternoon.
I missed your birthday so belated blessing for your special day!
Missed your news so Happy Birthday and have a great year!
I’m in Astier de Villate Grand Chalet in honor of my immediate neighborhood (and our Kevin, who got an enabler pin for this one).
I live across from Linden Park, near Linden Place, not to be confused with Linden Street. Guess what kind of trees were planted here?😅
Most of them were planted more than 100 years ago and I’m so happy they’re still alive. They’re almost in bloom, and I can’t wait, the whole block smells delicious. I just noticed that the town has replaced some old ones with new. Tradition!
How nice to smell linden trees all along your block!
I remember Kevin’s review, well. Love linden trees, always remind me of Christmas. Interesting article about whether their nectar actually causes bumble bee mass deaths or not ( in response to the number of dead bees seen under the trees that are often reported as mass deaths)
https://resjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/een.13175
Oh no! I’m so torn now, because I’ve read about the bee population dwindling rapidly lately. I hope they find the answer. 😢
No, it looks like starvation and predation is more to blame and the nectar is not poisonous
Yes, I read it, but it may be that lindens especially attract great tits (what a name!), who were mentioned as a predator. 😕
I love that one!
You smell so good!
I so wanted to plant a linden tree in my back yard after getting back from Germany, but then read that here all they do is drip sticky nectar, so I still have the maple instead. There’s a street nearby that’s lined with lindens, though, and I always walk there in June.
Luckily, there aren’t any where we park our cars.
That’s a lovely choice, Robin.
My perfume is Mea Taramea Dark Skies. Taramea is a plant that was highly valued by Ngai Tahu in Te Wai Pounamu ( South Island) for its scented resin, extracted by heating the plant over fire. It’s a very sharp-leaved plant, like knife blades…any one who has been tramping in the hills knows it well as it’s so prominent. We are coming into Matariki, the New Year, so Dark Skies for that, too.
https://meafragrance.co.nz/taramea/
Thanks for the link, just been drooling about some Alpine scenery.
I hadn’t heard of Mea before, but I see they stocked by Te Papa Tongarewa, our national museum, which is only about 20 minutes walk from where I live. Perfect for a weekend stroll!
It’s not a great perfume . More interesting for the use of taramea than the scent
Been MIA all week due to gallivanting around to get credentialing completed and spending some time in Portland to meet up with friends who were there from Asheville visiting family. As a result of exposure to school age (and almost school age) children, I’ve “caught a lite sneeze” so I’m commando right now.
Who knew I had so many stories to tell?! The kids were hanging on every word and as soon as I finished one story, they wanted another. 😅 I think the unanimous favorite was “Tarantula Season.”
Had a great time despite getting the crud, and it was so GOOD to be around people who know you and love you for some 20+ years, and vice versa. The two younger kids were enthralled by Biggie Smols and after I left I found a pink and white hot wheels car (with WINGS no less!) under my pillow and two small stuffed animals tucked into my blankets. 🥰 Also, vey nice to be both the giver and receiver of some quality hugs 🤗
As far as scent goes, I’d like to wear something but my nose and sinuses are a straight up mucous factory, so I’ll have to pass. You all smell wonderful and it’s very clever how some have interpreted this CP. Waft on and be well✌🏼
hanging out with little ones is such a great treat 😊
hope you feel better quick!
Thank you! The kids were great- no whining, crying, or petulance from the young ladies. The boys were very busy with their uncle learning HAM radio. Who know HAM was so intricate? Not me. I have given them the task of saving the world via HAM radio should the zombie apocalypse happen. I think they’re up to the task. 👍🏼
This was a great story, too!
Aww, thanks! I’m living vicariously through you and the entire NST community for scent today. 🥰
Glad for your quality time, Deva, especially considering the month you have had at work. Little kids are a great diversion.
Feel better soon, Deva! I guess T-Rex also had a great time having the kids around!
This put a smile on my face, so glad you had quality time with great kids.
Sounds like so much fun! And I love the quality hugs! 🙂
All of this is awesome! Excluding the cold. Feel better soon!
So happy to hear that you had some quality time with wonderful people you care about. Hope the cold leaves you alone soon!
That does sound worth catching a cold!
sotd = Terracotta le Parfum
wearing this pretty thing for the plumerias that grow in my neighborhood, and for the beachy vibe of my town. 🏖️
Irish lilting for Bloomsday!
https://www.instagram.com/reel/CsB-X0hN9dc/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Hope you all are feeling fabulous and fragrant today. 😊
You smell great! I lived in Hawaii for a bit as a child and we had plumeria growing around our house. One of the best-scented flowers in the world, to me, and one that brings happy childhood memories flooding in.
I need to rotate my Terracotta back onto my dresser for the summer!
Ah, plumerias! Swoon.
You smell wonderful today!
Finally, a whole year after my injury and five weeks after my injury-repairing surgery, *finally* I’m pain free enough to swim again, and took a blissful early lunch break today to swim laps at a new local pool. Every single movement felt like heaven. So I was commando, scent-wise, until this afternoon, and now I’m in a wee dab of Rose Flash because rose feels like my olfactory ‘home’ — it was my mother’s favorite fragrance and will forever remind me of her, and it’s somehow just foundational in my own life as well. I have about a million rose fragrances but Rose Flash is one of my go-tos for straight-up happy, pretty, sweet, everything’s-going-to-be-okay loveliness.
Your swim sounds great, glad you were able to enjoy it!
Congrats, Isabella! Great to hear about your recovery.
So happy for you.
A big, honking HUZZAH for being able to do something that you enjoy again!
Excellent news!
I’m commando for now because I will be seeing Niece Tator Tot soon and perfume is still forbidden around her. But later I’ll spritz on some Diptyque Venise for the tomatoes and basil growing in my backyard.
Drinking F&M Countess Grey today
Enjoy the visit with the wee Tater Tot!
Oh fun. I’ve been avoiding perfume on days I visit my new grandson as well.
I’m in CB I Hate Perfume’s Room with a View for the CP, since CBIHP is now located in the town where I live…Jersey City, New Jersey!
And I wish I could magically transport myself to the setting described by E. M. Forster in the scene that inspired this scent…a field of violets outside Florence.
Did you see the movie? It was gorgeous!
The scene with George, Freddie, and Mr. Beebe chasing each other naked around the swimming hole is the antidote to all despair.
Yes, it is. “Oh, look! No, don’t!” 😂
My favorite movie ever!
You smell wonderful. I love that one!
I’m wearing Insolence edt. Waited for my hubby to leave before I blasted myself!
The raspberry facet reminds me of all the great fruits we have here in the summer. It also reminds me of when we were kids, going to visit my grandmother. She had lots of raspberry bushes in her yard so we’d be able to pick (and eat) to our hearts-content.
Happy Friday everyone! It’s raining here, and there’s a batch of lentil soup now simmering on the stove. Surprisingly it’s going to be cooler here for the next few days.
Wish I’d had raspberry bushes in my childhood–only ever ran across the wild ones, which tend to bear sour berries.
Lentil soup sounds so good right now–had the a/c tuneup done yesterday, but then we had one of those pneumonia fronts not uncommon around Lake Michigan come through. So had the heat on last night!
Twins!
A sun-warmed raspberry picked right off the cane is SO delicious. YUM!
Possibly my favorite fruit.
I just didn’t come up with any bright ideas for the CP so I am wearing Bond #9 Chinatown today, because it includes a peony note. I love peonies and miss them. This morning I made a quick trip for some groceries to Trader Joe’s before the heat got too bad and they had so many gorgeous peonies on sale that I bought two bouquets–light pink ones and deep rose colored ones–five stems each for $10/bouquet. It’s a splurge but the window for peonies here is very narrow. They are just starting to open very slightly now and I can’t wait to inhale that spicy scent.
Peonies are so beautiful, but have yet to find a perfume with a peony note that doesn’t annoy me for some reason.
Do any of your cats like to be played like a bongo?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtAGxKrj3Qs
OMG, thank you for posting that video link! I needed a pick me up today.
Apparently, the bongoing is a thing. Here’s another favorite~
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=517yf9XkQdk&t=3s
The cat’s demand for “harder!” is hilarious.
Yes, my cat who liked it would always meow back at me for more if I stopped! Lol!
Yes, I have. had one cat who loved that. My brother made a video of me once bongoing her, I wish I could find it. The one here gets the funniest faces, it’s a hoot! Thank you. I can do it briefly on a couple of my cats now but not like this one.
Post-shower, I’ll wear another perfume from my local perfumer, Fragrifert. Rose Coriandre is a very green rose, and reminds me of Papillon Perfumes Tobacco Rose, although I’d probably find they were nothing alike if I did a side-by-side comparison:) .
Fragifert is just a funny name to me for some reason!
My first scent today was Jour Ensolleille from Sonoma Scent Studio….the house contains a name that is close to home for me…well, former home. I’ve now added Insolence since madtowngirl tells me violet is the WI state flower. Close to home in two places….
Lucky WI…ours is mountain laurel which is just not widely represented in perfumery 🙂
Smoothie is strawberries, banana and yogurt
So, I was wearing Eden for the general greenery in my local park but really because I wanted it’s weirdness today and tonight it’s Dior Homme Intense,
Robin, what a lovely tribute to your husband, I bet you smell great, I am not familiar with this perfume.
It smells like veggies! I would have worn Memory of Kindness if I still had any, since he was mostly interested in the tomato harvest 🙂
Oh that sounds good and Memory of Kindness too, a tomato leaf scent is always wonderful.
Very annoyed to discover on my way to work that I left my phone at home, so this is many hours late, but anyway, I spent the day in Alfred Sung Encore, the only Canadian thing I own and therefore the closest to a close-to-home I could think of. In a just world it would have been as big a hit as his first scent: it’s a gorgeous, complex molasses-dark oriental that had the misfortune to be launched in 1990, just as such things were starting to fall out of fashion in favour of bright fresh scents.
Alfred Sung is Canadian? I never knew this! I loved his first scent when I was in high school. They had it at the Base Exchange on the military base we lived on, and I’d go over there most days in the summer and spray it on myself. Never owned a bottle, though; my high school collection tended towards Benetton, Liz Claiborne, and Primo (the cheap Giorgio knock off that was everywhere in my little town).
He sure is! His first scent was a massive success — I knew so many young women who wore it — because it was so eighties-zeitgeisty, one of those big fat kitchen-sink florals, kind of like Giorgio Beverly Hills. (And I remember Primo! too, and all those other Designer Imposter scents — “If you like Obsession, you’ll love Confess”, printed right there on the aluminum canister, bold as you please. They were everywhere in my little town, too.)
Wearing Meringa today and we are finally getting sun in San Diego after lots of May gray and June gloom. 😎
Yay for sunshine! I remember the June gloom well.
Had some rather nasty weather earlier today: a Tornado Warning right around lunchtime. The skies were dark as night, with some of the blackest clouds I have ever seen. Loads of thunder and lightning along with torrents of rain. Fortunately, no twisters here.
Missing my Dad on this Friday before Father’s Day. It’s been 34 years since he passed away unexpectedly.
SOTD = Korres Guava body butter/lotion yet again. I decided to use the matching shower gel today. I’ve been alternating between it and LUSH Rose Jam.
Oh dang Jalapeno I am glad you are safe!
35 years for my Dad. Sending hugs💙
I lucked out today. An EF-0 tornado touched down a couple of towns over from me.
And lightning strikes caused some house fires over in PA.
Hugs for your Dad, too.
Your weather sounds really dramatic, I wonder how the cats felt about it.
Sending hugs.
I didn’t see the cats at all when the weather was at its worst this afternoon.
I heard about the tornado. Glad you are safe!
I was just thinking about my dad. He passed away in December 2014 and it will be 9 years. I still miss him.
Thanks!
Both my parents have been on my mind lately.
Glad you are safe. It has been warm and gray the whole day here. The rain never arrived in my area and we need it badly.
I also miss my father a lot. Sending hugs! 🌻
I would not have wished this kind of rain for anyone, no matter how much it is needed. It was rather ugly.
Hugs back, for your Dad.
So glad you are safe! And hugs to you about your father. The anniversary of my dad’s death is coming up this month, too.
I’m in New York Intense today, not because I’m anywhere near New York, but because I bought it here in town from Scentrique. So I’m CP-compliant that way.
I’m one week into a new workout plan after too many years of being sporadic. Despite initial soreness, I didn’t realize how good it would feel to be back running. I stopped after I injured my knee skiing seven years ago, and much as I’ve tried to get into cycling (Mr. Ockeghem is a huge cyclist and this time of year all we do watch cycling, compounded by the new “Unchained” series on last year’s Tour de France now), I’ve never really warmed to it as it just takes too much more *equipment* than running. (Very sad to wake up to the news about Gino Mäder in the Tour de Suisse this morning, though — we’d just watched the stage last night.)
Good job on getting back into an exercise routine!
We are cyclists too, very sad about Gino Mäder. :-(. Good luck with your exercise program! The soreness doesn’t last too long and it does feel great to be moving easily.
I had planned on wearing Demeter Snow today since I act like I am the only one that gets any lol. My procrastination led me to be running late so I chose what is upfront on the shelf. Cristalle edt. Last night I bid on a bottle of Dolce and Gabbana Sicily and I thought I had won, but nope some sneaky person beat me by about 2 seconds. Money saved!
You smell great, don’t worry about Sicily, save a search, it will come around again and you might win it for less money.
Yay for money saved, right?
Oy, I hate that! Is it called sniping?
Yep. Sure is. 😠
I’m in Providence Perfume Co. Magnolia Mist, from a spray sample I got few days ago. It’s a ridiculously pretty scent and I might be tempted to get a full bottle. The Close to Home part is how it reminds me of pink magnolias that grew in my hometown, Sanok, in Poland, and also because it reminds me of one of the first proper Western perfumes I remember smelling when I was a student in Kraków, the original Eau de Givenchy.
It is an awfully pretty floral. Couldn’t decide if it really reminded me of magnolias, but I will give it another try.
SOTD = Lush Fresh As
Love even though it doesn’t last long. I claim CP points because I got this at a Lush boutique in NJ!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CtkU7X6RY5H/?igshid=ZWQyN2ExYTkwZQ==
IG gave me problems today . I was forced to change my password AND there was a notation that one of my posts (the Coromandel) should be a paid partnership – no way josefina! I say IG better watch out because if it becomes unwieldy to use, I will drop it.
I am looking forward to this long weekend as we’re off on Monday for Juneteenth. I am getting a haircut and I may stop by Trader Joe’s!
Enjoy your long weekend!
I *still* haven’t gotten a haircut, and my last one was back in September 2022. I’ve been lacking motivation to do it.
Thanks! The haircut for me is a necessity because the hair begins to get unruly at the 5-week post-cut mark.
I’m really surprised that I haven’t had any massive tangles in my hair. I used to get horrible snarls.
I’m with hajusuuri. In my youth I could get away with long hair (and long intervals between cuts), but now that the twisty greys have snuck in, four weeks is my limit … five if I trim my own bangs somewhere in there.
I have a few of those wild grey hairs too. And they refuse to grow out like the rest of my hair.
I visited my Trader Joe’s today. It already had lines winding along through the aisles on a Friday morning. It’s impassable on the weekends. But today they went fast and they had so many beautiful peonies that I bought two bouquets.
I am going on Monday and if it’s bad, I just gave my car a workout!
What’s a paid Partnership? They thought you were paid for your post?
So I looked at the “Branded Content Policy” and I don’t qualify. The rules included examples such as:
– I am getting paid for posting a product (nope, I wouldn’t accept this)
– I got the product for free (nope, paid for them with my hard earned money)
– I post content to promote my own products (nope, if I wanted to do this, I would be up front and say so AND pay for a partnership; I have never done this nor have a desire to do so)
Hi folks! I wore a tea rose perfume oil from a local place, Aroma Workshop, https://www.aromaworkshop.com/28/list-of-scents. Lovely! I’ve tried to come up with my own scents there a time or two, and I think I should try again since I might do better now that I’m more knowledgeable 😅. I’ll stay away from clary sage–it takes over!
Now I’m home from work, exhausted, but so happy because I have a 4-day weekend ahead of me! Yaaaay!
And now I’m wearing Le Temps d’une Fête, by Nicolai. Double lovely.
Gonna read the rest of the comments now!
You smell fabulous!
Why thank you!
Like PriscillaE, I am in Texas. I am wearing Fiele Fragrances Juniperus. We have lots of cedar in South Texas. I am allergic to the pollen that blows off in the winter but I love the smell of the wood, the greenery and the berries. Also, I first tried Juniperus in a little bookstore in West Texas and I associate the fragrance with that trip.
I hear the cedar pollen is really bad for some people.
And had nearly forgotten about Fiele, that’s a nice brand.
