The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 2 March 2023 8 Comments

The latest collaboration from Cire Trudon: three candles celebrating the world of tea, developed with tea master Yu Hui Tseng.

At left, Terre à Terre (Deep forest; "Terre à Terre (Earth to Earth), created by Mylène Alran, is mossy, almost peaty. It is at one with the soil: it is dressed in woody notes reminiscent of the freshness of vetiver, cashmere wood and patchouli, as well as notes of undergrowth suggested by an accord between moss and mushroom").

At center, L'Esprit de L'Eau (Mineral woods; "L'Esprit de L'Eau (The Spirit of Water) is embodied by a mystical water with the fragrance of incense. Created by Benoist Lapouza, it combines a mineral accord, that of clear water gliding over mountain rocks, with woody notes of cedar and of cypress, as well as spicy notes of pepper and juniper berry").

Right and below, Sous un Ciel de Pétales (Woody floral; "Combining jasmine sambac and jasmine grandiflorum both originating from the Himalayas - and with fresh notes of bergamot, the fragrance of Sous un Ciel de Pétales (Under a Sky of Petals), created by Vincent Ricord, alludes to a floral scene. Its fragrance is supported by base notes of guaiac wood and light touches of incense, which evoke this candle's connection to the earth").

$145 each for 270g.

Same here. And I do think Trudon is the best candlemaker I’ve tried.

Cards on the table-about ten years ago I found their small size of candles at Winners for about $5 CDN. Had no idea if they were good or not so I left them. Went back weeks later: they were all still there for-$2. So I bought them, not knowing what precisely they were. And I liked them lol. Waxed wood was my favourite. I still have some of the glass holders. These look amazing-hopefully we’ll all find them at Winners :)

They were only the tiniest size. There were also Anthousa diffusers-the nicest diffusers I have ever ever smelt.
