It's Tuesday and the last day of January, plus National Backward Day. Birthdays: Alan Lomax, Jackie Robinson. RIP Cindy Williams. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm wearing Ashes from Clandestine Laboratories. Tea at the moment is a floral blend: a pinch of Rose Black from Art of Tea, a pinch of Kusmi Violette, plus a spoonful from a mix of few Assams from Upton.
Reminder: on 2/3 we're doing Edition 8 of the Picture Challenge, which is detail from Women of Shangri-La, 2002, by Yayoi Kusama. You can see the entire installation if you scroll down here (I cannot post it for copyright reasons). Thanks to a wonderful NSTer, I am in FM POAL. Mmmmmmmm. This is definitely going on my “to buy” list. Lovely 🌹
How long is your “to buy” list?
LOL- that would be a good poll, wouldn’t it? How many perfumes are on your “Buy FB List”? Is your list growing or dwindling? What is the most recent purchase you have made from your 2 Buy list? What is the most recent addition to your list? Etc.
Love it!
🙂
Actually, just two at the moment. I think the other one was by Ormonde Jayne.
Ta’if maybe? Have to check my spreadsheet.
You smell divine!🌹
Thanks! I think so too.
POAL is gorgeous! Every so often I think about a travel spray of it. And then I get distracted by something else… 🙄
Well, I have it on my “to buy” list, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I get distracted too. However, you are right in that it is gorgeous.
Today I’m in Boucheron Trouble. Not gonna lie: it’s really basic, a very ordinary sweet amber, nothing like their luxury image. But I like it a lot.
Most fragrances don’t match their brands’ luxury image, right?
True, but I’m thinking back to the first of their fragrances, which really were expensive-smelling and luxuriously packaged in jewellike bottles: Boucheron, Boucheron Pour Homme, Jaipur, Jaipur Homme, and Initial, specifically. It started to go down the toilet after around 2000.
Gotcha.
I loved the original Boucheron. My current bottle just isn’t the same.
You smell great. I had a bottle of Trouble but think I sold it in the Great Purge of 2020. 😉 It’s a lovely root beer scent on me.
I cam imagine selling it to an enthusiast: I wouldn’t say it’s essential, because how many ambers do I have? A lot! But it really is pleasantly root-beery atop all that warmth, just the sort of thing for a cold snowy day (which it is).
I made the mistake of selling my FB in a garage sale in 2014 before we moved from TX to AR. Luckily, was able to find three 30 ml minis before they disappeared from discounters.
I have a bottle of the dry body oil, but I’m pretty sure it has turned. ☹️ I’ll probably try it once more and then toss it if it’s no longer wearable.
What a shame! It’s one of the perils of being a collector. I have a few bottles that I can’t bring myself to part with but which I can no longer deny are on their way out: my Spellbound is weirder every time I put it on, not just the top, and I think I have to grit my teeth and turf it.
Yeah, it is definitely one of the biggest downsides to collecting. That and the issue of space.
I checked and I still have my bottle of Trouble. 😉 ehaeheh it was not purged afterall.
It’s a 50 ml bottle w/ a little over half left in the original box and I would be happy to send it your way if interested. 🙂
Oh my gosh, I’d be honored to receive your not-yet-purged bottle! I’ll shoot you an email and am also happy to swap you for it! 💕
Trouble is a comfort scent for me, usually at bedtime.
I am wearing Mimosa from my Commodity Discovery Set. I thought that it would feature mimosa the flower, so imagine my surprise when I sprayed and got a very realistic citrus fragrance. Mimosa the drink, not mimosa the flower. At this stage it smells as good as Azemour.
I would have preferred the flower. How do you like it?
I’m a fan of citrus, especially this time of year. This one is still smelling fresh even after four hours.
Tea is a pot of Eros from Mariage Freres.
I started Snow Country last night, whomever recommended this book to me, I think I will devour it. Thank you!
Today is my Italian lesson, and I am looking forward to it.
Thumbing through the paper and listening to Ottmar Liebert
SOTD Cartier La Panthere Legere from a generous NSTer
Changed my mind. Ninfeo Mio for SOTD
I just got back from the bookstore with two books purchased. Happy reading!
Which 📚???
The Snow Hare by Paula Lichtarowicz and Maame by Jessica George. Both just came out today. I think they may be ones you would enjoy as well.
Adding those to my list!
I think it’s a great novel. I am glad you like it.
There you are! Now I remember it was you whom are adding to my stack of books 🙂 😉
I love Ottmar Liebert. You smell great!
He is a wonderful guitarist
Scent of the day is Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles. Been wearing it for years, don’t know how to say it or spell it-have to look it up every time! But it smells so good in the crisp winter air. It’s snowing here-pretty lacy flakes. I also wanted to wear Borneo, so I put one spritz on a cotton ball, and that’s in my pocket. It’s pungent-I can smell it through my jeans. Kind of like this combination. Normally I’m not a person who wears more than one scent at once.
Hope Tuesday is treating everyone gently so far!
I hope you have a lovely day. Great perfumes.
Thank you 🙂
Nice combo!
Thanks-I really like it, too 🙂
I am wearing vintage Nuit de longchamp.
I didn’t sleep all night cause my daughter had a stomach flu or something so feeling a little out of it and had to come to work.
I had 3 cups of coffee to stay awake.
Hope the rest of the week is better.
Oh no, I hope your daughter feels better and the rest of the week is better for you as well!
Hugs to your daughter. Those little tikes seem to get everything. Oh, I guess I am just assuming she is young. Maybe not.
Big hugs to you and your daughter. Stomach flu is very tough w/ kids.
Hope your daughter feels better soon and you get some sleep tonight.
The fog of no sleep is so disorienting. I hope the coffee is helping and that your daughter feels better soon.
I hope your daughter recovers quickly and you have a peaceful night tonight.
Yuck. Hope that your daughter feels better ASAP, and that you can get some sleep!
I’m stumped for this week’s cp. I’m doing a week of my most complimented perfumes. Has that ever been a cp? Wear your most complimented fragrance?
Anyway, today I’m in Glossier You. Yesterday was Molecule 01 for a super busy Monday.
My car said -5 this morning, but I am not even going to complain because THE SUN IS OUT!!!🤩🌞 Holy cow, it’s been too long! And this is 2 days in a row! Today I’m in my office with the east facing windows, so I am soaking up the rays as we speak.😎 Love it.
The sun is finally shining here, too! It’s very cold although above zero.
That would be a good CP if it hasn’t been done. The most complimented fragrance you own. Mine would definitely be FM Iris Poudre.
The sun makes such a difference in my mood. Very happy that it is shining for you!
You smell great!
Man, I feel like everyone else likes Glossier You. I cannot stand it. It smells fine at first, but after an hour, its…what? persistence? starts making me try to claw my face off. I wonder what I’m reacting to that everyone else seems fine with (and even seems to enjoy!).
Interesting. I like Glossier You and I find it is well-liked. My adult son called me last weekend asking for recommendations for a perfume for his girlfriend, commenting that she likes understated scents and I suggested Glossier You, since it seems a safe bet.
Picking fragrance for someone else is SO difficult in general, even if you have some idea of his/her taste.
I also suggested Phlur Missing Person. Needs to be something he can get at chain stores. Niche is too pricy and inaccessible for him.
I will have to put on my thinking cap for this week’s CP.
I decided I don’t want to think that hard. I will pass this time.
-3 degrees here this morning, brilliant sunshine making the snow we have glitter! SOTD is Tam Dao from the little colored bottle. Love this stuff. Gonna bake some real shortbread cookies here in a minute, listen to my new audible book, escapist house porn: My year in a French Farmhouse, and maybe fold some clothes…
Oh, also, the sorta post-modern, or what ever the decoration is, teapot is not really my taste, but it is a very bright and cheerful little number, isn’t it? You find such cute pieces to display, Robin. Really appreciate the views of objects I would never see, otherwise!
This one got picked just because the artist is the cp. I don’t really like the design all that much either! But glad you enjoyed seeing it.
We are weather twins, and bottle twins! I have that 30 ml bottle too, I’ve made a good dent in it, will go for the big bottle next time! You do smell great!
I like the 30 ml bottles, as they look cute the way I have my group of scents in heavy rotation arranged. But the big bottles help the budget, for sure! Our temp is now up to a blistering 15 degrees! Hope you stay warm!
I don’t think I have seen the colored a bottle of Tam Dao. What color is it? You smell great!
They came out with a limited edition of 5 scents with the juice colored various colors a year or two ago. The Tam Dao is sort of brownish, slightly purplish. It looks very cute, and smells exactly the same. I don’t remember what the other scents/colors were.
Nice.
I will look up that book – it sounds like just what I want right now!
It is fluffy, so to speak, and the narrator’s accent is charming to my to my Rocky Mountain American ears…
It’s cold here in Los Angeles & I’ve been craving comfort scents and this is my fourth day in Perfect Veil by one of our local indie perfumers Sarah Horowitz/Creative Scentualization. A skin scent with musk, amber, bergamot, vanilla, sandalwood.
I have seen this name but never sniffed anything by this house. This one you describe does sound soothing and pretty.
I’ve always liked Perfect Veil!
Perfect Veil is really nice. It’s on my “grab a bottle eventually” list.
Ice to see you here, DeniseH! Perfect Veil brings me back to the time just after I fell down the rabbit hole. 🙂
Nice. 😬
Tea was Harney’s HarSha (they’re having a lot of 20% sales lately–supply chain improvement?)
Because Kris mentioned it, am florally resplendent in Champs Lunaires on this 4-degree morning. The sun’s actually out, hallelujah!
ooo! I am going to pop over for their sale…I love Harney & Sons tea
You smell marvelous 😊
I’m back in Como Lake Note d’Amore from my sample. I liked it quite a bit yesterday, and needed something quick and not terribly obtrusive for meetings at my kid’s school this morning.
I wasn’t ready to wake up to snow this morning. It’s been unnaturally cold here, but I wasn’t ready for that. Oh well, it’ll be gone by this afternoon, at which point apparently we’ll be in a freezing rain mess.
I was sorry to hear about Cindy Williams’ passing. Laverne & Shirley was one of my favourite TV shows when I was little.
I hope the school meetings went smoothly!
Wearing Nicolai Vanille Tonka today, I am stumped for the CP. That teapot is so cheerful to look at!
In case you missed it, ideas I posted yesterday. But truly skip it if it does not interest you!

Thanks! It’s nice to have some ideas.
I also have some perfumes that come in packaging with dots. (Arielle Shoshana perfumes, I am looking at you…)
AS is a great idea! The packaging has the same spirit too.
Sample of MDCI La Ravissante. This is a really soft and pretty fruity floral and if I had lots of money…or if it came in a smaller size…. I’ll take points for the colors and for the fruit on the table of Yayoi’s full installation of the women. I love the patterns she makes.
Have you started Snow Country yet? I just began last night.
I am still on the waitlist, but should get it in time for our trip next week and will read it on the flights! About 1/4 left of The Sound of Waves.
I loved that book 📕
Enjoy!
33 degrees and drizzling.
Having my second cup of coffee.
Wearing Arquiste Anima Dulcis. Decant thunked! I really love this scent and I am going to miss it. The chocolate, paprika, cinnamon notes are delicious and very comforting. This is definitely full bottle worthy. To my buy list it goes, but like all the bottles in that list, it is not a priority anymore.
Happy Tuesday! ☕️
You smell great, love AD!
Thank you, Cazaubon!
You smell so good! I was very tempted to get a FB when I thunked my sample, but decided it is too close to Vicious Cacao, which I already have.
I have a sample of Vicious Cacao. I will look for it to compare it with AD. Thanks for the tip!
I’d love to hear your thoughts on how you find them in comparison to one another
Time to pull out the *heavy* wool socks now!
😫
Sounds wonderful (chocolate & paprika!). Wondering if it’s in my chocolate & coffee sample pack…hmm.
I hope so! It is a very nice scent!
SOTD was Serge Lutens “Chergui” but I am now happily sniffing my wrists where I have a 2015 pre-reformulation Amouage “Interlude” on one wrist and the reformulated 2019 version on the other. On the one hand they do smell very similar, especially at first. On the other hand it confirms my hunch that the older version somehow has more depth where it counts.
I can’t say how pleased I am to have this perfume back in my life. For me it smells beautiful and melancholic – the incense is more the ashes of something that has gone than a live presence. Getting it back isn’t like getting an old friend back; it’s like getting a part of myself back.
I suspect you guys are the only folk I know who will “get” this. 🙂
That’s a lovely thought.
I get it.
2nd!
Congratulations on recovering the Interlude part of yoursef!
You’ve just created a wish to smell Interlude from your lovely description. I bet you smell fabulous.
Thanks! I should have been clear it is “Interlude Man”. Worth a sniff in current formulation but IMO the dry-down in particular is better in the original. I have not tested the latest “Iris” variant nor the very expensive, new “Interlude Man 53” with 53% perfume oil concentration – sounds great but $$$. 😬
The men’s version of Interlude is one of my favorites. I am lucky to have a few manufacturer’s samples of it.
Wearing Mitsouko today and wishing it were autumn instead of the dead of winter.
I will give you the autumn and keep the spring for myself 😉
Wearing Diorling edt today. Should have gotten a bottle when I had the chance.
I know just how you feel, Dawn. 😞 Wouldn’t that make a great refrain to a song called “The Perfumista’s Lament?”
I am wearing Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee and drinking a cup of Irish Breakfast tea.
Cindy Williams was so cute in Laverne & Shirley !! RIP
House Twins. I have never tried Nuit Etoliee. How do you like it
It is one of my favorite fragrances. Whenever I wear it, Nuit Etoilee takes me back to something my Mom wore back in the mid 70s/early 80s. Neither I or my Mom can remember which fragrance it is. But we both agree — its very similar to a perfume she used to wear when I was little.
Ok, I will have to try 🙂
Rabbits! It’s been hot here -by our standards( around 24C) and the smell from the nearby pine plantation is wafting in the air, must be the resin. The leaves on the silver birch have started to look slightly drab, not yellow but losing some of their brightness now. February is usually our hottest month. I’ve been testing CDG Ganja and enjoying it. I don’t get a lot of cannabis from it but I want to try it again…I need to get my hands on the tester myself. Today I’m wearing Shade, still dark but the birds are waking now. My favourite time of day.
Waving to you from a cold weather place. Your description has me green with envy
Love that warm pine smell, Fille en Aiguilles reminds me of that. You smell lovely in Shade.
Warm pine is one of the best scents in the world for me.
Warm pine is one of THE smells of summer to me.
I’m intrigued by the Picture Challenge — are we limited to that actual picture, or can we take inspiration from other parts of the exhibit? Our family saw the Infinity Rooms exhibit when it came to our city and it was marvelous!
I’ve been AWOL for several days because my dear FIL died last Monday and we went out of state for his funeral which was yesterday. Two sad Mondays. My SOTD since Saturday has been Nicolai’s New York, because that’s why my husband had in his travel bag — I forgot to bring anything else. I love it on him, and now I’m sort of obsessed with wearing it myself, as it was a source of great comfort in recent days.
My condolences, Old Herbaceous. Sending comforting hugs to you and your husband.
So sorry to hear about your FIL. I’m glad your SOTD was a great comfort; also, can be thunked much faster.
So sorry for the loss of your FIL😢
So very sorry for your loss and glad PdN brought you comfort.
My condolences to you. I’m glad you had PdN to comfort you a bit.
Very sorry for your loss, so glad perfume helped a little bit, I’ve never tried PdN New York.
Sending condolences to you and your family, OH. I’m sorry about your FIL.
I’m sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts go out to you, your husband and everyone affected by your FIL’s passing.
I’m so sorry for your loss, Old Herbaceous. I hope you and your DH are both comforted by your scent. I loved the old New York.
My deepest sympathies on the passing of your dear FIL. Hugs if you want them, too.
I’m so sorry, OH. My condolences.
Sending you a hug and my condolences to you and your husband.
Thanks, friends, for all the kind comments! NST really is one of the nicest communities online. I wrote a bit about my FIL here: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2023/01/31/rainy-days-and-mondays/. I truly appreciate your words of comfort.
That’s a beautiful tribute. I’m so sorry to hear that he’s passed, but it sounds like he had a wonderful life and was so loved. And New York is a wonderful scent, so you’ve smelled lovely.
Very nice.
Oh dear, so sorry and hope your husband is ok.
Meringa today.
Glad it’s the last day of January and tomorrow is February. January is a very busy month for me work-wise and there’s also the post-holiday slump. I am ready to rock ‘n’ roll with my rabbits!🐇🐇🐇
You smell delicious!
Thank you! Only tried this one for the first time the end of last year…I have been missing out. 😉 I love the drydown.
It’s still freezing here but thankfully dry. I’m wearing Chanel Cuir de Russie parfum.
Hi foxbins. You seem to know a lot about house problems so I have one for you. My 3 month water bill is extremely high compared to my past bills. I don’t see or hear any leaks. However in the last 3 months I did have a leaky bathtub faucet a broken toilet which caused a mini flood and a broken water heater. All issues have since been fixed, but do you think that’s the cause of the high bill? Or should I keep looking for leaks?
Also you smell great!
Hi, Lillyjo! I’ll bet your high water bill was due to all three things happening within one billing cycle. The other place I would look is outdoors, but only if you have a hose hookup or pipes running on the outside of the building. Sometimes you can have an outdoor leak and not know it.
Thanks for your reply! I do have outside faucets but that water was shut off in the fall and won’t be turned on again until late spring. I will wait to see the next water bill. Hopefully it will be back to normal.
If you have an on-premises water meter, you culd try shutting of all taps (faucets) and making sure no appliance that consumes water is running (washing machine, dishwasher, some tumble driers…). If the meter figure is still merrily rising, you likely have a leak somewhere *after* the meter.
I don’t know how it works where you live, but back in the UK the water company was liable for the pipes up to your boundary and the householder liable thereafter. Unless the meter was at the boundary itself, folk could face a big bill for a leak under their garden which didn’t show up on the meter.
Its International Zebra Day! Post shower some Memo African Leather to celebrate Zebras!
12 hours sleep and lots of interviews going on.
Zebras are my favorite animal. I went for a walk earlier and walked by a cafe offering “zebra mocha latte” — wish I’d gotten one as I was freezing but alas, I am also too cheap. When I got home, I saw that today was the International Zebra Day. So I did some reading — turns out there was a study showing that their stripes are *not* for camouflage!
Zebras are so much fun! It was amazing to see them in the wild this summer (and post all the posts about zebra crossings when I had pictures of them crossing the dirt road).
OMG, what a morning! Everything has just been so hectic the past two weeks I feel like I need to spend some time in a sensory deprivation tank to get my balance back…
Wearing Casmir today but it’s not soothing or calming enough for me. A very nice maintenance man here at the hospital changed out my battery for me. Super nice guy even though he was a bit of an Eeyore. Turned the key and holy cow! I though my catalytic converter had been stolen while I was gone. Suddenly, the van is LOUD! Anyway, took the old battery back for a minuscule refund, and the nice NAPA man checked the van and said everything is intact. I have no idea while it’s suddenly so loud. Like drag race loud! Won’t win any friends sounding like this…😬
Waiting for the world to recalibrate…
You might have a little hole in the muffler or the exhaust pipe. Salt air near the coast and salt on winter roads can corrode them.
Or is Moby loud in comparison to your nice new truck? I imagine it’s pretty silent in that cab.
Yes, the truck is quiet as a mouse considering it’s a 3500. DE-lux driving and riding! The van is a bit noisier inside in general, but not like this. I mean it’s BAH-RUM-RUM-RUMBLE and the faster you go the louder it gets. Having it looked at next week…
I hope things come into balance for you soon.
Thank you! I have too many keys, which is an apt metaphor for too much going on. 🔑🗝🔐
I’m wearing YSL Tuxedo today, after a rough night. It is smelling really good. Rumors of discontinuation are circulating on Basenotes. Hopefully not true.
I hope today is gentle for you, and that you have a peaceful night tonight.
Sorry for your rough night but YSL Tuxedo smells great!
Still on a patchouli kick and may stay in it this whole week or until I get sick of it. Today it’s Coromandel EDT, which is already almost completely gone from my skin but still clinging to the inside of my turtleneck. It’s because I used my dabber mini instead of my old evaporating but very strong decant. Sigh, I wish I’d transferred the decant to a better bottle a long time ago. It’s one of those 30ml bottles with no cap and a little plastic piece that goes under the sprayer to stop it from spraying. Unfortunately, this type of bottle allows for evaporation from the sprayer hole. Oh well, I’ll cherish what I still have left of the strong, good stuff.
Also, can I complain a little about Zoologist? Or rather about my persistence in trying new perfumes from them even though it’s been a long time since I’ve found one I love or even really like. I ordered 5 samples of their recent releases from Ministry of Scent (formerly Tigerlily) and don’t like a single one. I had to scrub two off, almost scrubbed a third, and didn’t even bother to put the other two on skin after spraying them on paper. So disappointing. If only their perfumes lived up to their fun packaging. I know many others find much more success with them so I’m guessing it’s a me thing. I do love Civet and Bee (of those currently available) and like a few others. I think I need to make myself stop buying their samples though.
I’ll be doing a freebie of many Zoologist samples soon after I’ve gone through they ones I need to retest.
This is interesting as those are the only two I really like as well (and have travel sprays in both). I have tried about a dozen from Zoologist and have no desire to purchase any of the others.
At least the two that are bottle worthy are really well done!
I can definitely see the brand as hit or miss. Bee and Civet were my firsts..then added Sacred Scareb , Moth and Rhino. Really wanting to try the Harvest Mouse. Note wise it seems promising.
I should take that back. I did like Sacred Scareb, but didn’t find the need to purchase it.
I was really hopeful for Harvest Mouse but it reminds me of Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser but with a malt note. I’ve realized malt is not a note or flavor I really enjoy. HM wound up a bit cloying on me, but I hope you have more success. Reviews of it on Fragrantica seem to be mostly positive.
I have Bee, T-Rex and Sacred Scarab. I may be getting Cardinal but really want to try it first! Overall, no complaints about Zoologist as I figure that some lines are never meant to be for me.
I did like Sacred Scareb. I had forgotten about that. I would try Cardinal first if I were you. I found it to be too masculine on me, but you may like it. Scents are so different on everyone. It kind of turned on me too, but I am thinking it was either the musk or the leather. I know the reviews on Fragrantica voted mostly for unisex or more male.
I can send you my sample of Cardinal! Email me. 😀 It’s one that I only sprayed on paper and actually did smell nice to me. But I thought it skewed a bit more home scent to me, like I’d rather have it in candle format than wear it.
I can also send you any of the others that didn’t work for me.
I figure that Zoologist isn’t for me. I’ve liked a couple of their scents that I have sampled, but they all start out very loud on me, only to fade into a skin scent after 2 hours. I find that kind of volume drop off super annoying!
There are definitely a few like that now that you mention it. I think I felt thay way about Nightingale.
Yep, I know what you mean. Some of them are like that.
I liked Bee and Cow. Camel and Elephant seemed fine but I wouldn’t go beyond the samples I have. The original Bat was interesting, but not something I’d wear on a day-to-day basis.
But then, these days, that’s pretty much any line for me. Except maybe Chanel Exclusifs, but combine cost and lack of lasting power and it’s rare I buy one. (31 Rue Cambon is the exception, and I’m circling Box of Eels except it doesn’t last on me.)
Zoologist is mostly miss for me too. I liked Chipmunk and Hummingbird enough to buy, plus Beaver which I bought for sentimental reasons but don’t wear. I have a decant of Sacred Scarab and want to try Harvest Mouse. Cardinal was not good on me. Many I haven’t really tried, will make more of an effort when I get back to Montreal this summer.
It’s a grey day with rain moving in. I wore Act and Acre’s rebalancing scent to yoga (just a smidge) and now I’m wearing Dzongkha. Guess I need some balance and contemplation today?
Hope the yoga helped!
I deeply love Dzongkha. Perfect yoga scent.
I used the Lush Eggnog soap this morning, and holy moly it smells delicious. Creamy vanilla with a hearty sprinkle of fresh nutmeg. So, exactly like eggnog!
Sampling LAP Tonka Blanc to keep a similar vibe going with my SOTD. I’m finding it pretty but underwhelming. Tonka bean dusted with powdered Tonka, and not much else happening. I definitely don’t cauliflower or any vegetal notes.
Sipping on FM’s Victoria Gray.
Watched House of Gucci last night and now I’m curious as to which family members were involved in the early Gucci perfumes.
Eggnog is probably a seasonal scent … but I can imagine you smell good in it!
That soap sounds yummy!
I used LUSH’s Good Karma… Everybody Needs Some shower gel this morning so we were house twins today. Love it! But it’s for serious patch heads only. And potentially Van Halen fans, LOL.
Smoothie was pear, mandarin and yogurt
Dior Homme Intense still detectable on my wrists but tonight I sprayed Messe de Minuit on my sleeves.
I assume that your MdM is one of the older formulations?
My sotd is TF Fleur de Chine.
Aurora I haven’t yet found a connection to GoBH Red but will keep looking. I’m going to wear it again this week before I thunk it.
I don’t think I’ve ever thunked a Tom Ford, at least none that I recall!
Hello Lillyjo, I will have to do a side by side too.
Isn’t that one of the d/c’ed TF scents that people go nuts for?
Today I’m wearing my newest acquisition, Cire Trudon Bruma. This is such a lovely iris. I got a travel size, and I’m not sure if I will put a FB on my list, since it’s very soft and lasting power is not great. But very pretty while it’s around! An extrait strength would be marvelous.
I love Bruma, you smell wonderful! It’s very underrated. I too have a travel size but would probably never need a FB with all the other perfume I have!
Thanks, tulipani!
You really do smell wonderful. I wish I’d bought the travel coffret. I like most of them.
Thanks, Robin. My ears perked up at that, and all of a sudden, I’m like, “travel coffret?” 😯 I’m always a sucker for one of those, or a sample set.
You smell lovely! I have Bruma too and it’s perfect for when you just want a delicate scent aura. Médie is next on my purchase list, accumulating Nordstrom notes to pay for it. 🙂
I haven’t tried the others except for Aphèlie, which I also fell for. Another to add to the list!
I am finally back home after a long trip, resting on my couch in Chanel Egoiste 😌
I recovered my decant and sample collection from my parents’ home. Unfortunately most of them dried up from years ago, only leaving a little oil sludge behind. I’m making a mental note to wear my decants up because there is no point in letting them go to waste.
Some gems I recovered included a tiny sample of Chanel Cuir de Russie EDT and a mini Shiseido Feminine de Bois.
Welcome back! Those are some lovely treasures you recovered! I treasure my old Shiseido FdB.
Egoiste is SO good!
Shiseido FdB is sooo good. Welcome back and thank you so much for the Dirty Jasmine, I love it!
Quick post since I am in the middle of household tasks! Yucky weather here today; cold, cloudy and clammy. No snow flakes that I know of, though.
SOTD = still in Narciso Poudree. But I am getting restless, so my little streak of perfume monogamy will be coming to an end soon.
I almost re-tested Poudre today. I was at Macy’s looking for the new NR, which they didn’t have. All their testers were behind the counter though and I didn’t feel like talking to the SA. Maybe next time.
NR Poudree is more of a springtime scent anyway.
I was out there in the rain this morning! It is back to gray for and cold for the next few days – yuck!
Bletch! I put off an errand today b/c it would have meant waiting at a bus stop in the rain and other stuff this afternoon. I’ll see what tomorrow is like.
Back to work after a long weekend. In Franchesca Bianchi Sticky Lips today and topped off w Fille de Berlin.
Hope it’s a good work week!
So far good and its almost hump day. Lol
That sounds super good!
Enjoying the liptsticky vibe and definitely a rose driven day.

I was hoping to never have to complain about property taxes but boy oh boy, it had hit inflationary levels. I think there should be a discount for people who never sent a kid to public school. I have a townhouse, medium sized, and I am paying almost $9,000 a year plus $3,100 per year on maintenance fees!
Yes, that is high for property taxes. I am guessing it is because you live in New York???
New Jersey, but then again, we’re supposed to be getting all sorts of services.
That sounds about like what taxes are like in South Jersey.
You’re absolutely right!
Wow, that’s pretty crazy! Our property taxes don’t pay for education (oh, Canada), but mine on a 3BR townhouse are about $2500 US. That said, my strata (condo) fees are $5500 US.
Also, my taxes went up 10% this year; they said is because my house is worth a lot more…but given the decreases in the market at the end of the year it’s not worth nearly what they say. Grr.
In Montreal I am paying $4500 a year for property & school tax plus $7500 a year in condo fees on a 1000 sq ft condo, so we’re even. :-).
I’m in Coromandel today. So glad the work day is over, I had a presentation today that was stressful. Well, all public speaking is stressful to me! I’m very glad to be done.
Tonight I’m making a green curry lentil stew. It was a surprise hit with the family the last time I made it, I had sort of invented it using whatever I had in the fridge. My son said he liked it much more than the green curry chicken I usually make!
You smell wonderful and your curry stew sounds delicious!
Public speaking is stressful, period.
I wish I were that inventive; I still follow recipes mostly, although I sub in things in my fridge / pantry.
