It's Friday the 13th. Also, National Korean American Day and Public Radio Broadcasting Day. RIP Lisa Marie Presley. Our community project for today is True Colors: tell us your favorite color, and wear a fragrance with that color in the name, or that reminds you of that color, or that has juice in that color, or ... ?
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
My favorite color is purple, in any shade from lavender to eggplant. I went the no-thought-required route and put on Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille, because my travel spray is a in a spiffy purple leather case.
Reminder: 1/20 is David Lynch's birthday. Pick a favorite Lynch work or character and wear a scent to match, or pick a theme (split roles? doppelgangers? surrealism?) and work with that for your fragrance choice. If you don't know (or care about) his work, you could just wear something a little weird or off-kilter.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Oh my gosh, Lisa Marie! I haven’t watched the news yet this morning and had only heard last night about her cardiac arrest. She was younger than I am. Her poor children.😢 How very sad.
I am continuing on in my week of pink….isn’t sheeee pretty in pink🎶, and I’m in Delina from a newly arrived sample. My Luckyscent order arrived yesterday. It came pretty quick this time! Just 5 days, I feel like the last time I ordered from them it took twice as long. This one is nice, but not worth the price, for me anyway. I also got a sample of Ex Idolo’s Love & Crime, and holy swoon. I’m not big on gourmands, but it is great. I also love that it comes in a 30 ml bottle. Hmm….😈
Love and crime is a great name for a perfume.
Isn’t it though?! It has a great back story to go with the name.
https://youtu.be/yJBM0Uah7ZE
Check it out if you have time. Her review is spot on, of course, I get the citrus opening, baking sugar and sponge cake.
Lisa Marie’s death is terribly sad…especially in the context of all the events in her life and her son’s recent passing.
I have Love & Crime…it’s beautiful. 🙂 You smell great.
This was shocking and sad about Lisa Marie!
Happy belated birthday! I love your pink; I wear lots of it myself. Enjoy your new goodies. I’ll have to check out the Love and Crime, sounds wonderful – and I love gourmands!
Thanks Laila! Yes, check it out, love at first sniff for me!
Love and Crime is delicious. I have had it on my wishlist for ever.
Get it! It really is, and it’s the perfect size bottle, and really not that crazy expensive. Have I talked you into it yet?😈
I will let you know when it gets here.
And now I have an earworm from the 1980’s and John Hughes movies!
Ha! I was hoping somebody would.😆
Pink twins!
🙌💗
In Lady Gaga Eau de Gaga for my black CP. It doesn’t smell black at all, but light purple. However, I love my black bottle!
Happy Friday! 🖤
I have bottle too, through a swap! You smell wonderful!
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
I would choose Reglisse Noire for my favorite color black 🙂
Absolutely! It is a beautiful perfume and if I remember well one of your favorites! Any scent with a dominant licorice note matches the color black perfectly!
You are so right that Gaga Fame does NOT smell black at all!
For me is a summer scent! More like purple or green!
I thought it smelled pinkish-apricot. Definitely a pastel fragrance.
Green is my favorite color and the Mugler Aura bottle is my favorite shade of emerald green so that’s my pick for the day.
I’m reading LM Montgomery’s The Blue Castle, as I do every year or two. So funny, so dear, so comforting, I was craving it.
I have never read that, I should really branch out beyond Anne.
The ebook is available from Amazon for .39 today.
My favorite colour is white and then purple so I chose Pour un Homme because of lavender.
Just finished a book recommended here, The Emperor of All Maladies. Excellent book, thank you!
His latest, The Song of the Cell, is also very readable and interesting.
The Gene sounds good, too.
I’m not CP compliant, because I got tired of choosing colors for my fragrances. However I am wearing Hermes Rouge edt, although red is not my favorite color.
Apologies for 2 color cps in a row!
I ♥️that one, too.
Hello all!
I’m in one of my favorite finds, Patou’s Sublime EdP in the curvy tulip bottle. Luscious without being sweet and very balanced with a bit of a bitter green edge. I would say it’s a fauny brown color, so chic. Today it reminds me of 24 Faubourg but a bit more approachable.
Have a great day everyone!
And a lemming is born.
Oh, I adore Patou’s Sublime edp in that tulip bottle! But to me it’s a very ‘golden’ fragrance – warm and golden. I love to wear it in the fall on a sunny day when the trees take on their autumn colors. 🥰
I love the entire blue-green-violet half of the spectrum — I can never pick a favourite from it — but today I was just in the mood for something red: I like pretty much any colour as long as it’s extremely saturated and jewel-toned, so a bright, hot red suits me fine. I don’t think you can get much hotter or redder than CdG Carnation, a sizzling carnation spiced up with red pepper and extra cloves, and a little rose to keep it from actually igniting.
Spectacular perfume,dare I say “the perfect red”??🌹❣️❣️
I think it is! (It was certainly the best of the entire CdG Red series: I thought Rose was cheap and Harissa was unspeakable.) I have a bunch of carnation scents and this one is by far the reddest.
I’d love to know what you have in the carnation-stash!
The real heavies are CdG, Guerlain Terracotta Voile d’Ete, Caron Coup de Fouet, Tabu, and Old Spice, plus to a lesser extent Krizia Uomo and Guerlain Vega, which I would not call carnation scents, exactly, because there’s so much else going on, but it’s noticeable. There are lots of others that supposedly have carnation as a note but it’s not particularly dominant, not to my nose. The carnation is by far my favourite flower, and it’s a little heartbreaking that the ones you see for sale have so little perfume.
Oh, and I have four cakes of Roger et Gallet Oeillets Mignardises soap, sitting in my socks-and-underwear drawer, minding their own business and quietly making everything smell wonderful. Once in a blue moon I will wash with one of the bars. I mean to make them last until I’m gone.
How is the quilt going? Bet it looks stunning.
Working on the binding, sewing it down by hand: SO tedious. (All the websites say, “Settle down in front of your favourite movie — it’ll go in no time!” LIES! All lies!) Thank goodness it’s only 43″x58″. Imagine this (https://littlebirdiesecrets.blogspot.com/2013/05/free-plus-quilt-pattern-tutorial.html) but in bright saturated gemstone colours plus white and black, light in the middle graduating to dark on the outside, with white binding.
And to my considerable surprise I am already plugging along with my second quilt, this one king-size for our bed, and it sort of looks like this (https://www.modafabrics.com/webfiles/fp_reel-time-chill-out.pdf) only all shades of blue and white, and much bigger. It is going to take ages. I am okay with that. Turns out I kind of like machine sewing: completely unexpected, but proof that you’re never too old to learn new things.
I like your choice of designs. And your vision! I would never get beyond a cushion or pot holder.
Mmm, yum! Never tried this one, but as a ‘red’ person it sounds wonderful!
Kind of a bummer than CdG has never re-released their Carnation.
My favorite color is Cobalt blue. Everyday I have been doing the pairing and its been fun.
Iris smells like cobalt blue to me so I went with Infusion D’Iris by Prada
Public Radio day, I tried to listen to NPR this morning but I was having issues, so I listening to CBC, something my FIL listens to, I think its a Toronto based or Ontario based. Right now they are interviewing Nina Haas.
OH, forgot to mention my bottle is from 2015 release not the current formulation. Not sure there is a difference? But I thought I would mention.
Between the original & the Absolue I will never run out of IdI, so hopefully I will never have to know if there is a difference.
Pretty sure I listen to public radio every day but have gotten entirely out of the habit of listening to NPR. Some day I will probably start again.
I have been curious about the Absolue, but if you don’t know the difference then there is no need to seek it out 😉
Happy Friyay!
SOTD!
Liquides Imaginaires Ile Pourpre(Purple Island) for my favorite favorite color which is of course purple!(think aubergine, grape, plums…)
The bottle is the perfect color, the juice exotic and gorgeous!
XO’s✌🏻💜💜
Purple is a great color
Cobalt blue comes a close second!Hehe!💙💙
I am looking though my closet and I want to wear the color…matchy matchy
Wonderful!💙✌🏻💜🌹
Color twins 🙂
Yay!!I should have guessed if you look at the color theme of NST!👍🏻💜🌹
It is pretty obvious!
One of my favorite sweaters is purple that gradually shades into black.
I like this!!
I only have one purple piece of clothing,it’s a velvet jacket with acid -green lining.Outrageous and fun.💜💚
My favorite colors are blue and green. Today I’m wearing Wood Sage and Sea Salt, to pair with sage green and greyish-blue.
That’s perfect.
Nice choice. I love those sage green colours
Well done!
Great scent!
You make me want to go the ocean *right now!* Nice match.
My favorite color is pink so I am wearing Montale Rose Elixir in the bright pink container🌷
Fantastic!
Nice! 💗
Montale does some nice roses..I have one in a pink bottle too. The name escapes me.
Those Montale bottles look kinda cool to me. But I’ve only ever seen them in pictures. Not IRL.
Doing the obvious thing today by wearing Bulgari Black for my favourite colour. I’m spraying stingily, though.
Classic!I’ll wear it for the upcoming cp!🤫👍🏻👍🏻🤣
Hello! Happy Friday. My favourite colour is blue-almost any shade, but the deeper it is the better I like it. I chose Goutal’s Nuit Etoilee, a scent I love plus that beautiful blue bottle! It was available at discounters for awhile, so I have the mens and the womens blue bottle. I know it wasn’t a popular scent but I really like it.
Snowing here now, but set to go up to plus 12 later:)
That bottle is superpretty!LoveLove
Love it, and love that bottle! I have one too.
TGIF! Thanks everyone for sharing their scent memories yesterday, it was fun to see what everyone’s parents wore 😀
My favorite color is black, which I am wearing today though I decided to pair it with ruby-red smelling Chanel Egoiste CC. The Egoiste bottle and branding is primarily black though, so I’ll take the CP points!
Fun reminder that the 90s Egoiste ad is a hoot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYJW6VK2vjg
Probably my favorite perfume commercial.
Love the opening w/ the black and white, wind and camera angles and the switch to color and the cuckoo clock effect.
True art.
Ha! I remember that ad airing on network TV!
Too bad I never came across anyone wearing Egoiste back in the day…
My favorite color is blue, and just about any shade will do! I chose Dior Addict for its pretty blue bottle, and its attitude matches my cobalt blue sweater.
I get to visit with my mom and a friend this weekend, and it’s been a rough work week, so I’m counting down the hours!
Have a wonderful visit!
Have a happy visit.
Perfect match with your favorite color!
Enjoy visiting with your friend and your Mom!
My favorite color is green and I’m as GREEN as I can be in Eris Green Spell. The more green the merrier!
Hi green twin!
Hi twin!
Yay green! 💚
Go green team!
We’re exact scent twins today!
I’m delighted to be identical twins with you today💚
My favorite color is green and I am in Chanel no 19. The juice is green.
You smell wonderful!
This was me yesterday!
Such a gorgeous green!
Twin Win!!! Love my green…
Another green fan here, and I (with many others, I’m certain) chose Chanel 19 EDT. Such a gorgeous, complex, and very very green scent. My bottle is one of the first I acquired after falling down the rabbit hole and it’s nearing a big thunk. Must seek out another — this is not a scent that I want to be without!
Will you get a new bottle of the EdT, or seek out a vintage one?
I have a bit more of the vintage, but I actually prefer the current formulation … and a new bottle has (as of this morning) been ordered. I have no self-control. 😆
I’m very much enjoying reading about all of your favorite colors! It’s one of my favorite small talk subjects with people whom I don’t know well, and leads to some very interesting chats. Personally I am a lover of spring green, and am in Eris Green Spell.
I am going to steal your small talk idea. Your perfume sounds perfect.
Scent triplets!
💚💚💚
Wearing Douceur de Siam. Reverse engineering the CP to exclaim, “My, isn’t golden pink pretty!”
I simply adore golden pink!

I’m going a bit sideways on the CP as it is the 100 year anniversary of Katherine Mansfield’s death this week and I think she had a very sharp eye, where colour was concerned. The portrait of her is my starting point rather than a quote: all red. But I was also interested in the restoration of her childhood home and how bright the colours are. The article says that research was carried out and Victorian homes were colourful compared to now. Pairing the portrait with CDG Floriental, which was also my mother’s favourite ( it would have been her 87th birthday today ). Red, bold and a bit spicy.
Wow,that is a stunning interior! The blue carpet on the stairs is EVERYTHING!!
I loved all the information on that page on how they did the renovations and chose the paint colors and finishes. I’m fascinated by that wallpaper too. The blue and lavender colors were especially lovely.
Lovely portrait and house! Thanks for those links, Kanuka. I’m fascinated by color in interiors, and how hard it is to get my vision of the color I want onto the wall. I often go through a dozen or so test pots before I hit the right one, lol!
I haven’t sniffed Floriental, but you make it sound beautiful.
Thank you for your informative post and great links. And she’s wearing my favorite color in the paining! Wishing you warm thoughts and remembrances of your mom on her special day! 🤗
What a great sideways approach, thanks for the links!
I’m wearing Onda VdE in the beautiful dark blue bottle. I don’t have a favorite color, but dark blue goes well with my gray hair, so I wear it quite a bit.
Oh, such lovely stuff! If there was a prize, you’d win it! 🥇
Wearing Tauer’s Une Rose de Kandahar today for its deep magenta-maroon-cranberry gorgeousness. 🥰
Do yourself a favor and don’t ever buy a vehicle out of state. What a headache! 😵💫
Oh no! What happened?!
It’s just such a headache. The finance guy says “Oh, we sell to out of state people all the time! No problem.” Well, it’s been a problem because he didn’t get me to sign the right paperwork, and then just let everything sit for 3 weeks without acting on it. I bought it mid December and they agreed to hold it there on the lot until the end of this month when I’m scheduled to pick it up. But they have done nothing paperwork wise to title it to me except send unsigned documents to the Florida tag agency, who can’t do anything with an unsigned document. Such a headache having to now coordinate all of this myself between the dealership and the tax collector in Florida. On the phone for hours this morning, running all over to print (at the local library who charged me NOTHING to do this. I tried to donate some money to them via my debit, but they only take cash, so will stop back there again when I have some cash to donate), fill out, and overnight ($$$) documents to the specific recipients. Bottom line is Love your Local Library (this should be a National Holiday!) and just assume the dealership will not be proactive in getting stuff done, so you have to helicopter everything. 🙄
Ugh. Sorry Deva.
What a “poop program”. 🙄💩
Uh oh. That sounds ominous.
Nah, just a PIA trying to get people to do their job. I mean, geez, just do your dam* job, man! 😠
I just CAN’T bring myself to pick a favorite color, too many I love and I also love color pairings so much. Color just delights me in so many ways, despite the fact that I mostly wear greys, black and neutrals. So, I’m going with my son’s favorite color, which is red. He has loved it since he could say the word red and has had everything from red eye glasses to shoes. I’m pairing red with Rubikona.
That’s so cute! I love little kids in red. And red shoes!
I love color too, which I guess is obvious from all the color projects.
And I will second socks, that’s adorable that your son loves red!
My oldest childhood friend of 55 years loves the color lavender so I am wearing Vacances to honor her (and pl67 got an enabler pin for “making” me buy a full bottle at a great price but I also earned an enabler pin from another perfume pal because she bought her own bottle after I sent her a decant)
Hello there! Nice to “see” you!
😊
Joining others in Green today. I’ve done both Chanel No. 19 and its Poudre version this week. Change of direction to Chamade.
Sorry I missed extolling my love of all things Sargent yesterday. One of my favorite artists, along with Manet. Since they are somewhat kindred spirits.
Spent yesterday cleaning shelves in the market. Seemed to take forever to do the book shelf…. It’s the slow season, so everyone pitches in to take product down and wash shelves. Today, my equipment (computer and monitors) arrived for my new remote part time gig, which I start on Tuesday. I think the two jobs will complement each other nicely.
Congrats on your work success, LizzieB! I hope your schedules will work out.
I imagine that Chamade would be a lovely shade of green with a hint of blue. How do you see it?
My favorite color is green–I’m surprised by how many other green-lovers there are on the list today. But I don’t like “green” in general as a fragrance category. I took the liberty of wearing some sprays from my new bottle of YSL Paris. Come to think of it, I love that pop of vivid salmon-pink on the top of the bottle, and on the box. That color paired with black is so striking. I’d love to have some kind of outfit featuring those two colors.
I like that bottle AND the colors on the cap–striking.
Lancome Mille et Une Roses for both pink and blue! The juice in my bottle is blue in color, yet it smells pink to me–sweet pink roses.
I did sleep better last night (worked out for two hours yesterday morning to help with that). The darkness here in the PNW is getting to me. I need to go somewhere with more light.
Glad to hear that you slept better last night! 😴
My favorite color, for the last few years anyway, has been in the yellow-gold range. It’s hard to describe, something along the lines of butterscotch pudding. 😋
I often tend to think of colors in foody terms. Or the color of amber, but more yellow than orange. So, for CP points, I’m wearing L’eau d’Ambre.
Later tonight, I may join the purple squad and switch to MFK Oud Satin Mood. What a glamorous shade of purple that juice is! It reminds me of a certain shade of deep plum which is my opposite favorite. 😉
Best wishes for everyone in beginning the weekend happily!
Deep plum is so pretty at this time of year!
I love golden yellows with a bit of orange too! I helped my parents paint their bedroom years ago, and we kept combining colors of yellow, beige, and I don’t even know what else until we came up with a gorgeous orange-yellow-mustard-gold color. They still have it on their walls, and I’ve never seen anything like it for sale in a paint store.
That sounds beautiful! I’ve often found that I have to start with the closest color available, and keep tweaking until the painters won’t let you make any more changes! 😅
My favorite color has always been red – and since I am a seasonal color-wearer in my wardrobe as I am in my fragrance choices, that encompasses everything from the palest pink to the deepest wine. Since it’s a mild but gloomy day in mid-winter, my choice for today’s cp is Hugo Boss Deep Red, a wonderful mélange of citrus, floral, and woods along with a bit of spice. I love its initial burst of blood orange warmed up with a bit of ginger in the middle and the cedar in its base. I have the original from 2001 and it still smells great. Lots of red in this one – even the bottle! – I consider it ‘radiant.’ ❤️
Lots of good happenings this week – 3 days of 🌞 🌞 🌞 in a row with mild temps, a fun night at the classic cinema offering in our historic movie theater 🍿, a chance encounter with a former favorite coworker I hadn’t seen in a few years, and an awesome concert last night with my favorite cellist 🎶. Pizza out tonight will complete my week. I am grateful for it all!
A quiet rest of the weekend lies ahead, hope 🤞it’s a good one for you!
You smell deliciously cheerful today. Deep Red has been one of the handful of perfumes that I have repurchased.
Thank you. Has it changed for you? Comments on another site seem to indicate it’s not what it used to be due to reformulation and is much lighter. Mine is the original, still smells great and lasts all day.
The last bottle I got is about 12 years old now, I think. I did not notice any difference in how it smelled versus the first bottle I had.
And I have scent glue skin, so longevity is usually not an issue for me.
What an excellent week you’ve had! Maybe Friday 13th can be a good omen! I also have always liked Deep Red. Need to check discounters for that one…
Love green, in all its various shades. SOTD is Chanel No. 19 EDT–this bottle must be nearly 40 years old. It’s in the silver canister and there is not much left, but it smells amazing. Way back in the day, my sister was a beauty rep for Chanel at Bloomingdales…and so began my perfume (and make up) upgrade. I also still have a vintage Cristalle that can turn heads. These a probably the oldest scents in my collection.
We are green love twins!
Your vintage No. 19 and Cristalle sound fabulous!
Doesn’t get much better than vintage No. 19 and Cristalle! I have both, and you’re right — they’re amazing.
Purple is well represented in my clothes. Not so much in my perfumes. I have plenty of red in both clothing and perfumes, so I went that route. Also, I heard many years ago that red was my maternal Grandma’s favorite color. Whenever I wear it, I think of her.
SOTD = back in Samsara EdT, which is a bright cherry red to me. 🍒 The bottle color is darker than what the juice smells like, IMO.
Oh, and before I forget, both MossyBerry and Aurora get enabler’s pins. Yesterday’s thread on Patou did some damage to my self control. 🤪
😱😱😱 You bought stuff before I did in 2023! How did this happen? 🤣🤣🤣
Is Mercury in retrograde? Or maybe Jupiter? 😉
Pretty sure Mercury is, lol.
Oh, congratulations on your purchases, hope you will love the scents. Thank you very much for the pin😃.
You smell fabulous!
Thanks!
That’s sweet you have a color to always think of your Grandmother.
She never wore red by the time I was born, though. I remember her dressed in black all the time.
You’ve been smelling wonderful in Samsara edt. I love it in all its forms and flankers, but the edt in the red “shoulder” bottle is my favorite. I proudly wear my enabler badge – I noticed the ingredient list on the package for Adieu Sagesse names evernia prunastri. I can’t separate it out, but AS has that “heft” that I love in scents and I think oakmoss is usually the culprit.
Chose another colour I rarely wear, except in perfume. My SOTD is Libertine Sweetgrass, which to me is a soft bluish green. When I first got this, it didn’t speak to me, but today I can’t get enough of it.
How nice that it grew on you! Or the time was right, or whatever 🙂
Hey all! I have many favorite colors, and today I chose Yves Rocher Rose Absolute for pink. The juice used to be pink, but now it’s a sort of brownish color! It still smells pink to me though. How much do you think the color of the bottle and/or the juice affects how you interpret the scent? For me it can be a lot.
Another question: sometimes people describe rose scents as being a red rose, or a pink rose, or a dusky rose, or… etc. I imagine a pink rose as being a little sweeter than a red rose, but I don’t know why! And what’s a dusky rose? Roses don’t actually smell different because of the color–it has to do with the variety, doesn’t it?
Off to read the rest of the comments now :).
I love roses and I agree, I think pink roses are usually a little sweeter than red, and to me ‘dusky’ roses could be deeper but are softer and somewhat drier.
I have and ❤️ YR Rose Absolue; it leaves a wonderfully soft cinnamon trail on me for the duration of the scent. Yes, mine is now brownish as well but still smells delicious. I think of it of it as a sort of soft, dusty pink, not a clear or bright pink. And for me, too, the color of the bottle/juice does influence the way I interpret the scent.
Oh this sounds delicious. Cinnamon and rose! I have yet to try much of YR offerings. Need to check this out
Unfortunately, I think it’s been discontinued! I’m happy to share some of mine with you though–I’ll never finish the bottle. Let me know if you’re interested! I’m skcossocks in the gee mails.
Ooh yes, that little bit of cinnamon is so nice!
I have perfumes that smell like yellow, pink, and red roses. Kind of hard for me to describe the yellow rose one, but it is unmistakable. Pink roses are lighter and sometimes have a fruity aspect to them. Dusky roses can have a spicy or powdery facet to them.
Yes, the color of a perfume can influence how I perceive it. For example, I don’t see Angel as a blue perfume at all, despite the color of the bottle. My perfume has turned brown with the time.
How interesting! Does the yellow rose smell lemony or citrusy at all? That’s what I’d associate with that color.
I’ve been to a couple of rose gardens that had many scented varieties in bloom, and very happily smelled all that I could reach. I don’t recall the yellow roses having a citrus or lemony note in them. It’s just one of those things that since I smelled it once, I can’t forget it.
SOTD = Eris Green Spell
Tomato Leaf goodness! My favorite color is green!
In other news … I got punked by a text message informing me that my credit card was charged ~ $300 for lawn furniture. I usually jump when I get such a message because it had happened to me before when someone used my unactivated bank card to purchase something at a mall on Long Island and upon issuance of another card by the same bank, it also got compromised even though it was not activated.
Anyway, I called the number and it rang 5x before it was picked up. I could barely hear the guy and then I knew something was really fishy when he said he will call me from a very secure line, to which I said No, I will not be picking up any phone calls and that when I get my card statement and see the charge, I will dispute it. Aaaaargh with the scammers of the world!
A plague on those scammers! May their tech fail!
Here’s a scam tip my local news gave out over Christmas. They said if you get a text or email saying an account has been compromised to not call the number that they list. Always call the official company department. I got one last week claiming my PayPal account had been compromised. I don’t even have PayPal!
Also do you get a lot of ambroxan in Green Spell? I think it’s listed but not sure how prominent it is.
I am uber sensitive (aka can’t stand) Ambroxan, and I don’t pick it up in Green Spell. But Eris Scorpio Rising was another story. It was Ambroxan heavy to my nose.
Good to know Thanks! I really wanted to love Scorpio Rising but the ambroxan is too much. I can only handle it in teeny tiny amounts.
I’ve been meaning to comment all week but keep forgetting after I start working. But I’ve been wearing perfumes with my favorite colors in the name all week. Today I’m in Azemour les Orangers for a rich, warm orange. Orange is one of my favorite colors to wear since it works with my coloring. I even have two orange coats! Red is another favorite, and I wore DSH Oeillets Rouges a couple days ago.
Others I wore this week: Jo Loves Green Orange and Coriander, DSH Emerald Hyrax, and Kilian Back to Black (also one of my favorite honey perfumes).
Something fun – I made a Bath and Body Works order last week in the semi annual sale, and it arrived today! For nostalgia, I got Sun-Ripened Raspberry and Brown Sugar and Fig shower gels and tried one that’s new to me, Vanilla and Patchouli in the Aromatherapy line. Wow, this last one smells like Organza Indecence! So glad I did that blind buy.
Your blind buy on that Vanilla and Patchouli shower gel might inspire some other blind buys, lol!
Unfortunately, it looks like it’s gone now. There are still some candles and wallflowers though. Maybe they’ll bring it back next fall.
My wallet and credit card thank you for that info! 😉🤣
Brown Sugar and Fig is so good!
I’ve been avoiding the sale this time around, but I will probably cave now.
Yes, it really is! I think it’s also the first fig scent I ever smelled. I had no reference point for fig prior to it
The sale offerings are a lot less now but there are still some really good deals. I also got 5 hand soaps, and they still have a bunch of those at around $2.
My color choice today is Burgundy Red. I wore Hugo Deep Red this morning and now wearing NR for Her L’absolu.
I was really sad to here about Lisa Marie Presley. I’ve been thinking about my own mortality all day. I’m no fun, I know.
But… here is something nice. Before Christmas I gave a coworker a bag of perfume samples (because she always smells good and likes perfume) she told me today her family gifted her 2 bottles from the samples I gave her. She got Chloe edp and Narciso for Her edt. She’s very happy 😀
Hi, Deep Red Twin 👋!
👋🌞
I did the same thing when I heard about Lisa Marie last night. It made falling asleep a little challenging.
I gave a friend my rollerball of Chloe back in October, and she is loving it!
I have the Love Story but will get the edp if I see it at a great deal.
I’m with you. I think about mortality a lot. And I find it’s the moments like you’re describing with your co-worker that bring me (happily) back to life❤️
I think about it more than I should. It is the cause of much of my anxiety. It also makes me appreciate every day though. Even the snowy one’s! Lol.
❤️😊
Bulgari Black for me today. The weather cooled off here, finally, so BB is perfect!
I hope everyone has a wonderful three day weekend!
Have a great weekend!
Thanks lillyjo, I’m sending you good weekend wishes too! 🤗
Note to self to find my sample of Bulgari Black – sent to me by a lovely NST’er – and give it another try. I did not connect with it at first sniff.
Ran off unscented. 2xnd time this week! But making up with all the LS sample iI just got. Testing BDK Rouge Smoking for my red scent.
I liked Rouge Smoking more than I thought I would.
Happy weekend! Yes mercury in reetrograde explains alot. At least Cristalle was a good steadier.
Opps wrong place….. Lol yes. I am enjoying it so far. I didnt realize BDK did 10mls so I may see one of those in my future.
Rough week if you were so busy you missed out on perfume!
It is a very odd being scent naked. I will be back on the horse though.
Totally not CP compliant today (and much of this week). I love the color blue, and you’d think I would break out L’Heure Bleue, but I didn’t. Been wearing Cristalle a few times this week, and today I tried a decant of Shalimar Souffle. I prefer Philtre, tbh, but Souffle is very pretty. Mercury is in retrograde, which might explain the weird week I’ve had! Nothing dreadful, just weird. I’m very glad it’s Friday! Happy weekend, everyone!
Mercury in retrograde explains a lot of what I have observed this week. 🥴

Yes, Cristalle is a go-to steadier fragrance for me!
I am not sure I have a favorite color. Surveying my collection, I have more perfumes with “black” in the name than anything else. Most of them are appropriate for cooler weather so I almost went with Bulgari Black but I wasn’t feeling it.
I wear a lot of black, grey, navy and beige but I like the color yellow quite a lot in the abstract. If it were summer, I would have picked Bronze Goddess, one of my favorites.
For yellow, I went with Litoralle Aromatica Luce Del Sole. It has bergamot, citrus, vetiver, ambergris, musk. It really isn’t too citrus, more of a clean or skin scent.
I like green also but don’t have a lot of green scents. I am impressed by the number of green fans here.
I’m not sure I can pick a favorite color — it mostly comes down to specific shades rather than color. A color that I actually like to have around is coral. I’m attracted to reds generally, but they can be hard to be around. Amazingly, my dentist’s office has a red and white theme, the walls a shade of red with just enough watermelon to be softly energizing rather than irritating.
I don’t usually associate perfumes with colors, but Iunx Splash Fort actually has a lovely cedar red color, the packaging is red and black, and red materials predominate:
“’Scarlet elixir jazzed up with red spices.’ Black cumin, bay leaves, nutmeg, red cedarwood, musk, quinine wood.” (From Boiis de Jasmin)
Cinnamon isn’t listed in the notes, but to me Splash Forte smells likes cinnamon without its softer sweet side. It’s a thrilling perfume to put on! Olivia Giacobetti is a genius.
