French ceramics brand Astier de Villatte has launched Trois Parfums Historiques, featuring three historical fragrances recreated by perfumer Dominique Ropion: Artaban, Le Dieu Bleu and Les Nuits.
Artaban ~ "Ancient perfume, formulated 2000 years ago for the king of the Parthians, with invigorating vegetal notes recreated by Dominique Ropion. Artaban is a pure, telluric and wild concentrate of the wonders of the plant world. We delight in its heady scents: bittersweet marjoram with its small, green, rounded leaves exhaling a delicious aroma; cardamom, with its fresh, spicy, aniseed tang, like a bracing gust of wind; cistus labdanum, whose white flowers adorned with crimson dots gave it the name “tears of Christ”; sweet, vanilla amber, with its scent of incense; and warm cinnamon, humanity’s most ancient spice."
Le Dieu Bleu ~ "The oldest perfume in the world, unique and mysterious, used more than 3000 years ago in Egypt recreated by Dominique Ropion. Here merges the intense warmth of honeyed, woodish broom flower, mystical and potent myrrh that flows from the tree in spicy yet sweet white tears, rustic lentisk or balm of Gilead, fresh and green, and calamus, with its astonishing scent of herbs, spices and wood, that grows in dense clumps on the peaceful banks of the Nile."
Les Nuits ~ "An extraordinary floral perfume, which belonged to George Sand in the 19th century and was recreated by Dominique Ropion. A unique scent of heady Turkish damascena, the noblest and most luxurious of all roses. To this is combined, reinforcing its seductive powers, earthy, woody, highly sensual patchouli, as well as the refined, powdery notes of iris, floral and heady ylang ylang, and vetiver, that smoky, leathery essence with a fiery temperament."
Astier de Villatte Artaban, Le Dieu Bleu and Les Nuits are available in 30 (€155) or 100 (€265) ml. The Trois Parfums Historiques Discovery Set has all three fragrances in 10 ml, plus an accompanying bilingual book illustrated by artist Eva Jospin, €195.

Astier de Villatte has a weird streak that I love! 😻
Same here. Plus, these all sound great to me.
Sounds just absolutely lovely, all three. Sadly my local shop won’t be carrying the fragrances much longer, just the candles and incense.
Oh boo! But you are lucky to have had local access to any of it, I guess. I sure don’t.
That discovery set sounds wonderful, except for the price tag! 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, although the book also looks lovely and fascinating. But yes, out of my budget.
Also love that the 10 ml are sprays though.
Love the idea of these (and Ropion!). I still fondly remember sampling DSH’s Perfumed Court historical collection.
These sound like fun. The idea of smelling like George Sand is entertaining. Women who seem to do exactly what they want to are worth looking into, it seems.
