It’s Hump Day, National Stress Awareness Day and the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists. Birthdays: Daniel Boone, Marie Antoinette, Richard Serra, k.d. lang, Shah Rukh Khan. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Guerlain Anisia Bella for licorice candy.
Reminder: 11/4 is National Candy Day. Wear a fragrance inspired by candy, or wear Prada Candy or any other fragrance named for a candy of any kind, or forget the gourmands but wear a fragrance with at least one note that recalls a flavor in one of your favorite candies.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am in Lolita Lempika for the CP.
Gorgeous day today with perfect blue, sunny skies.
Having a very busy week at work, so I need to catch up on this week’s comments at some point.
Coffee and more coffee to stay awake!
Happy Wednesday! ☕️☕️☕️
The original Lolita Lempicka is wonderful stuff!
I agree! I treasure my old bottle dearly!
Busy work twins! Enjoy that nice weather and the hot coffee! ☕️
Thank you, twin! We will survive! 🌞
Weather twin – but isn’t it crazy how dark the mornings are right now? Hope you get a lot finished today and tomorrow so you’ll have a Feel-Good Friday! You smell wonderful!
Thank you, MossyBerry!
Dark in the mornings with warm weather don’t really match, but still I am enjoying the temperatures right now!
I know you and lillyjo love this kind of weather. There’s about a week of it in the forecast, whoo hoo!
We are going to be in the 70’s. I love that!
Good morning, lovely people of NST 🙂
I dug into my own archives, and am wearing Goutal’s Encens Flamboyant. I was thinking of trading this, cause my stash is beyond my life expectancy, but it’s really quite beautiful. I can smell a tiny bit of florals under the pine and incense. I love it when I shop my stash.
Hope everyone has a good day,
Sincerely,
Carole
Good day to you, too, Carole, your sotd sounds great!
You just reminded me of when letter writing was taught at school – when to use Yours sincerely vs. Yours faithfully. I still don’t like getting “Hey there” from strangers/ students.
Kanuka, did I use the grammar correctly? I still call people Mr or Mrs, until they say please call me xxxx. I think it’s more respectful-but sometimes I do feel like I’m a character in Are You Being Served lol.
Encens Flamboyant is one of my “desert island” perfumes. It’s a 4-season beauty for me.
Still on the road and in an ancient commercial sample of Chanel Allure Homme that I dug out of my toiletry bag. Nice enough, but not really my thing, and I couldn’t say why (though it explains why I never bought a bottle): it’s complicated, which I ordinarily love, and it smells expensive in that Chanel manner, but it doesn’t grip me. Still better than most of what’s on the market these days, though, as far as I’m concerned. Beggars can’t be choosers.
Hope you are having fun pyramus!
Good morning.
Sotd is Flowerbomb Rose Explosion. The best version of Flowerbomb imo, no idea why it’s disappointed. Sigh.
My inner child is nagging me the past few days, I have this strong desire to go to Disneyland. I do love Donald Duck though.
Discontinued?
I don’t think I ever smelled that one.
I don’t think I ever saw that version of Flowerbomb in brick and mortar stores.
I wanted an antidote to the sweetness bomb that yesterday’s fragrance turned into, so I chose Woody Mood by Olfactive Studio.
Sounds like a good antidote.
#1 National Stress Awareness Day- I can get totally behind this. I can also tell you that myself and another nurse were sent to a usually unused area of the hospital last night and were totally forgotten. I had to STRESS to supervisor I was not taking another patient without assistance. We were maxed out and stressed out. Ugh! We (as in the hospital) are hanging patients off the chandeliers it’s THAT busy. They’re talking about putting up TENTS again…😭
#2 Love kd lang’s music, saw her in concert once and she sounded even better live, it that’s possible!
#3 I’m wearing CSP Amour de Cacao and smelling suitably choco-luscious! Even after a non-stop night with no break, no lunch ( I know, I know, who cares, right?) I am wafting good things while thinking bad thoughts about how bad this winter will be.
#4 Had a couple seriously nice patients who said please and thank you 🙏🏼
#5 Baby T-Rex was all snuggled under the blankets when I opened the van door this morning, just her nose sticking out, and looking so adorable!😍
Sounds like a nightmare shift. I hope things improve ( live in hope) .
Tents! Oh dear.
Glad you came across a few nice people.
Gah! What a shift.
My last morning of chai
Rose Amalfi TF
Beautiful weather !
No! Not the last morning?! I enjoy hearing about it probably as much as you enjoy drinking it😃
They will be back soon!
Same here. I look forward to your FIL’s visits.
I’m wearing 4160 Tuesdays The Great Randello this morning, for the cp. Unintentionally, but there it is. It’s supposed to have a toffee top note, but I just get a good dose of soft, fruity sweetness. I’ll spray some more and see if I can detect toffee.
Headed out this morning to get some dog food and maybe groceries while the weather cooperates. ☔️
I will have to see if I have a sample of that one, it sounds nice.
I am wearing Guerlain L’Heure de Nuit today and drinking a cup of Harney & Sons Holiday Tea.
How do you like that Guerlain?
I enjoy wearing L’Huere de Nuit. The orange blossom and iris are very beautiful
You smell great. While L’heure Bleue smells awesome, I think that L’heure de Nuit is even better.
Like Carole, I shopped my stash today and found my decant of Kerosene Black Vines so that’s what I am wearing. I also found an ancient sample of Commes des Garcons Sticky Cake, which I had totally forgotten about, so I’m excited to wear it tomorrow. Beautiful sun, blue skies and mild temps today, yay!
Sticky Cake! That’s a fun one.
Yum, you smell great ringthing!
Don’t you love it when you successfully shop the stash ? You smell great 🙂
Byredo Gypsy Water for Lemonheads today. Finally back in the groove after a ten day trip out east to see son and some friends. We really enjoyed it and the trees were gorgeous, but there was a lot of driving and then flying involved so I’m happy to be back in my own bed and reunited with my fragrances ;D.
welcome back from us and your perfume bottles
Ha – thanks!
Welcome home to your nest!
Thanks. I am definitely a “nester.”
Welcome back SP!💕
Thanks, allo. ♥
Welcome back! You picked a good time to head back East. Plenty of gorgeous color for leaf peepers this year. 🍁🍂
Thanks. It was really gorgeous. And I feel like I came home to winter in Seattle–brrrr. But the smoke is gone!

On very special occasions ( Christmas) we would get Pontefract Cakes, which look like liquorice seals or coins, and originate from Pontefract Castle in Yorkshire ( The Dunhill family) . Amazing watching the factory workers make them in the 1963 clip above. They were great, chewy and reasonably sweet ( nothing like Dutch liquorice). Liquorice Allsorts originated in nearby Sheffield. Wearing Brin Reglisse.

Oh wow – thanks for these links. Great video. Those poor women and their backs. They were amazing, as you said. I have a friend who loves Allsorts. I’m going to send him the bottom link.
You smell wonderful. I think I’ll go with 1000 Flowers Reglisse Noire tomorrow – all you licorice people are inspiring me!
I think the only reason I have heard of those is from here, but can’t remember the context.
All I remember here is Good N Plenty and black licorice ropes. The first time I had “real” licorice was in NYC on a perfume shopping trip, many moons ago.
Love that video. I cannot imagine having to lean over like that for hours.
Robin, that’s a fascinating picture you chose for today. It both makes the candy look a little creepy-wormy and quite alluring. A feat indeed! My mother is a fan of gummy everythings but I’ve never enjoyed that kind of candy. However I did just take her a bag this past Sunday. I’m going to have to work to find a good candy; I would like something to match one of my favorite combinations which is orange with dark chocolate. Any perfumes come to mind?
Today I’m in a tiny spray of Chanel Le Lion and still worried it’s going to overwhelm people at physical therapy when I go there in an hour. Uh-oh. I have good news to share: in a few weeks I’ll be attending a conference in Portland, Oregon. That’s good in itself since I haven’t gone anywhere for several years now (first Covid and then leg problems), and I’ll be seeing a lot of my good friends there. Also, a little group of perfumistas and I are planning a trip to Fumerie there. I’ve seen their website and it looks great. I can’t wait!
Now if only our poor Astros would get their mojo back. I’m afraid I’m going to lose my friendly bet with two friends in Philadelphia. 🙁
You smell fabulous (how could PTs not appreciate Le Lion???) and your trip sounds wonderful. Fumerie is such a great shop and very dangerous for perfume lovers…
2nd that! Wish we could all go.
Calypso, only one of us can have a happy b-ball week, and while I only care a little my husband cares so much that I have to worry on his behalf, for his mental health…plus you guys have had your share, we’re long overdue 😉
That’s such great news about the conference. So glad that things are coming right.
By the way, I recently came across an eyebrow pencil that might work for you. It’s not grey ( I think Shiseido does grey) but a pale ash blonde. Lancôme Brow Shaping Powdery Pencil in Dark Blonde. It gives definition without harsh colour so works for me , grey blonde.
https://www.lancome.com.au/makeup/eyes/eyebrows/brow-shaping-powdery-pencil/00086-LAC.html
Also comes in paler blonde
Calypso, I’m in Portland and would love to meet up with you at Fumerie. If you’re interested I’m at foxbins at a oh ell dot com.
I can’t think of any perfumes that feature chocolate and orange off the top of my head, but LUSH has a few things that would work in their shower gels and lotions.
Nice, calypso! My brother is there (actually Lake Oswego which is the next town over but no one knows where it is so I always just say Portland). Fumerie is great but try not to have to use the restroom there as it was a nightmare getting to it.
Sounds like a very overdue and fun trip! As for chocolate and orange, the only perfume that comes to mind is the Hermès Elixir des Merveilles in the dark orange bottle.
That’s great news about the conference and meet-up! You’ve had a hard time for a long time, enjoy!
I lived in Houston through the 80s and went to see the Astros play at the Astrodome, they have a special place in the small part of me that cares about sports, but even so, I’m rooting for the Phillies. The Astros have had theirs, imho.
In Capsule Parfums Legion, inspired by other anise/licorice scent wearers today (I love black licorice) and in my opinion, this is an unsung hero of a fragrance.
Oh, just read the description and it really does sound try-worthy! Is it “mostly” a leather?
I think the anise, caramel and leather blend really well, so it doesn’t read like most perfumes I think of as leather forward. Some people complain about the oakmoss dry down but I enjoy it.
And Robin, I’m curious what 5 CdG scents you’d include in your mini pebble collection…
So assuming I could only have scents that were originally in pebbles, I’d go old school — CdG original, CdG 2 (which admittedly I respect more than love), CdG 2 Man, White, and then either Concrete or 888.
If I could have anything, then I’d need 10 bottles at least!
How about you, what would you pick?
Plotting my next Tauer purchase. I will be ordering some samples from him since I want to smell Sundowner and his latest release. Wearing Lyric today and loving every minute of it
So fun to plot a purchase! I was tempted to get the soaps but contented myself with a mini of the new one.
I was planning to wear a summery sort of dress today, but I should have checked for forecast, it’s very wet and windy. I’ll fight the weather with lavish amounts of Guerlain’s Vol de Nuit.
We stole your sunny day, I guess! It was quite warm here.
I saw a double rainbow this morning, so that set the tone for the day. I’m wearing a tiny spritz of Dia, not candy but I smell so good.
Hey that’s a good sign. Why have one rainbow when you can two!
Hope the smoke is getting better too.
It started to rain last week, finally, so that is helping the air quality and to help put out the fires.
Yay for a double rainbow and clearing air!
Posting and running today.
My sotd is PG Myrrhiad (sp?)
I get a lot of vanilla and a little bit of root beer barrel candy.
I will be back later.
I loved root beer barrel candy when I was a kid!
Jalapeño and I are twins with loving root beer barrel candy.
Triplets!
In Au Coeur du Desert today, no CP ideas yet. I have not done a comparison but my memory tells me I am one of those who finds Au Coeur more wearable that L’AdDM. I am enjoying the most wonderful Fall weather and even getting some more outside work done. Still a ton of leaves to bag up but no rush this year before rain or chilling winds!
I can’t decide which I prefer of those two.
I’m twins with Robin in Anisia Bella.
Hey twin!
Sniff-off, with Candy on one arm and Vanille Insensee on the other. VI a little less candy-like, but pretty.
You smell good!
I thought I had a sample of Candy in my repurposed cotton swab container but I must have swapped it out for something else.
A mostly gorgeous Autumn day here, except for a plethora of leaf blowers and other assorted, very noisy equipment droning on for a big chunk of the afternoon. At one point, poor Teflon kitty was hiding under the dining room table.
SOTD = still in Perles de Lalique. My manufacturer’s sample is down to about 1/5 of its original volume. Not counting my thunks before they’ve happened, though!
Are you converting or do you already have one waiting in the wings? 🤣
I have this nagging suspicion that I have another sample of Perles de Lalique somewhere in the Sample Stash. But I have not been able to find it.
Trying not to spend (more) on perfume!
Jelly gummies !!!
SOTD = Lush Turmeric Latte
Love it! 🤎🤎🤎

My niece who just got married posted a picture of her and her husband dancing at their wedding. Oy vey! There were comments … all nice and all from THE COUSINS. Honestly though, if I were her and $s were no object up to a certain limit, I would have invited all who live in the northeast U.S. and it would have added a good 20 more people to the guest list and I suppose they had to think through whom they invited. Tails will be wagging…
A co-worker was asked to do a survey to figure out Service 3.0 that we will eventually provide. If I basically verbally changed at least 75% of the survey, is it his work or my work? 🤔
I remember that there was some wedding guest drama with my wedding ages ago. We had a $$$ limit, so we had to limit guests. And some people were not pleased with being left off the guest list.
