It's Friday! Plus, National Dog Day and Women’s Equality Day. Our community project for today is "It's difficult, part 1": wear a fragrance that you'd recommend as a good introduction to a note that some people find difficult.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in my idea of the perfect fragrance to ease into tuberose: L'Artisan Parfumeur La Chasse Aux Papillons.
Reminder: 9/2 is the start of Labor Day weekend. As we did in 2021, take a break from community projects and wear what you want.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning and TGIF!
Sotd is also an intro to tuberose: Petit Fracas. Fun, cheerful, also pretty and unmistakably tuberose so you will fall in love with this queen of white floral. 🤍
Currently drinking matcha latte.
Yep, that one would work too! A lot better than Fracas, ha 😉
That is a great one for an introduction to tuberose.
I decided on musk as my note, and in a toss-up Fleurs de Citronnier is SotD. Clair de musc was the other candidate. I never wore musk in pre-prefumista days, but Clair de Musc was love at first sniff. I chose FdC for the CP because I saw it first, but it is a bit more complex. 🙂 It lingers so nicely. I have a 2015 bottle.
If you like musk you should look into some of the inexpensive ones that I wore decades ago…Coty Wild Musk, Alyssa Ashley Musk. Skin Musk, Jovan White Musk and even Parfum de Couer’s Fresh White Musk which is cheap as chips but always gets me compliments.
I have a bit of Jovan White Musk somewhere – will dig it out. I did think it smelled very good. I also have a mystery, vintage, Jovan bottle that is a very nice musky floral. As a lover of powerful base notes, my musk issue was just that I always liked patchouli, civet, and castoreum better than deer musk and best “facsimiles thereof.” (I did not know what to call them until after years down the rabbit hole BTW.) I recall that my parents actively disliked musk in perfumes, and would make disparaging comments about it (not in front of the wearer), so I am sure that influenced me.
Hahaha. The comment about your parents made me laugh.
😉
Another musk I find very wearable is Jeffrey Dame’s.
I would pick AG’s Musc Nomade as a great starter musk… assuming that it is still in production. Very kitten-fur like to my nose.
I decided on salt as my note. The first Diptyque fragrance I ever wore was Florabellio, and it is definitely a salt fragrance, also a marine fragrance. I rarely wear it anymore, but maybe a full bottle will help me remember how much I like it. I think that it is a good introduction to both salt and marine notes in fragrance.
You smell great! I picked up a full bottle some years ago. It’s one of my go-to summer fragrances, and sits right next to Sel de Vetiver in my (somewhat organized) perfume drawer!
Mmmm, sounds nice. I ❤️ salt and marine notes (but not aquatic).
I chose CdG Kyoto as an introduction to incense in perfumery — it’s light, gentle and smoke-free, and so beautiful that I can’t think why anyone wouldn’t like it. If they love it, then I’d have them try Feu Secret. And if THAT went well, I’d see how they respond to the weirdly wonderful Costes, or the very smoky and addicting Kerosene Broken Theories.
Oh, good call!
I like your three-step program! 😀
Kyoto is definitely a good one to start with, easy to wear.
You smell great. Just curious – do you think Costes is light incense?
Well, the incense in it is relatively light, but I wouldn’t characterize the fragrance in its entirety as light — some of the other notes in it are fairly dark/weighty, and a little bit intense. In a good way!
I have a couple of friends who would whole heartedly endorse your incense pick.
This is making me think I should track down a sample of Costes.
Do! Next time you order something from LuckyScent, request a sample. But only if you like coriander!
I chose Aedes de Venustas Signature for its beautiful tomato leaf note.
I know I was very surprised in my early perfumista days to smell this note in a perfume but it was definitely love at first sniff and my first BUB purchase when I heard the original bottles (and maybe the fragrance) were going away.
You smell great today allo!
Doesn’t it also have a rhubarb note, or am I confused?
Yes, tomato leaf and rhubarb – a great combo!
I’m in AS Saturday, which I get a lot of grapefruit from. I gather some people have an issue with grapefruit, but I love it. It’s also a great introduction to fun in perfume. 🙂
Perfect intro to fun! Then one could graduate to Byredo Pulp 😉
I’m one of those ‘some’ people, never met a grapefruit fragrance I liked. Yours sounds nice but think I’ll skip the Byredo Pulp 😉
Saturday is definitely a fun perfume! Love wearing it in the dead of winter as a pick me up.
I had trouble with patchouli for a long time until I discovered Michael for Men, which instantly won me over, but that’s not what I’m in today: as an easy introduction to to the note, I’d recommend, and am wearing for the second time in two weeks, ELdO Nombril Immense, which is dirtyish patchouli made outrageously sexy with all kinds of warm ambery base notes.
One of the Reminiscence scents converted me to patchouli, I think.
I’m in Wood Sage and Sea Salt, which I think would be a very easy introduction to non-sunscreen beachy scents.
I love that scent. Very nice in summer weather.
Good choice. WE&S was a pleasant surprise for me, as I usually dislike sage, sea and and salt.
Yes! 👍
SOTD = Solinotes Tonka
Yep, I chose tonka as it seems to be a divisive note. A good number of perfumes have tonka or at least traces of it and too often people complain about sweetness and blame it on tonka. I am encouraging anyone with such an issue to get a hold of one of these 15mL travel-sized bottles and try it for themselves. The 🎯 near me has a full suite of testers so you can go down that route as well!
Drama of the day (which was drama of earlier in the week). My sister, whose daughter is getting married in October, texted us to say that our brother, sister-in-law, nephew and his girlfriend will not be attending the wedding. I KNEW something like this was going to happen because last week, my brother was asking my sister 20 questions about COVID protocols, as in are you requiring everyone to be vaccinated? Will you be asking everyone to do a rapid test before the event? Seriously bro? He went to Guatemala for a week in July to do a humanitarian mission. I know he did not fly private because if he did, I will never speak to him again and it’s not because of concern for the climate. Anyway, did he demand the same thing of the airline, the transport to and from the facilities, the people who work in the facilities AND the patients? Of course not! Then why is he concerned about the wedding? I am just shaking my head and moving on … 🤦🏻♀️.
Well, if he’s so concerned, why doesn’t he go and just wear an N95? Why the big conundrum and quizzing everyone? Is he trying to make the bride and groom uncomfortable? And if he chooses not to go, he could diplomatically say he has work related things he can’t get out of. Why stir the wedding pot and create dissension? I really will never understand people…
He would not stop when it comes to topics he is passionate about. The family zoom that started in 2020? That was gonzo after a few sessions because he would not shut up about politics when we had a rule of no discussion about politics.
Well, a zealot is never amenable to seeing other viewpoints, that’s for sure. I feel bad for your niece. I hope she can totally dismiss their absence and enjoy her wedding 100%.
I agree with Deva. He certainly can politely decline if there is some reason they don’t want to attend. I shake my head a lot lately on some people’s actions.
He’s never been known to have good bedside manners so I am not surprised at how he handled this situation.
Oh dear. The older I get, the more I realize how important bedside and other manners are. They are the lubricant that keeps social wheels turning smoothly.
That’s a shame. I hope he still sends a nice gift.
I have no worries about the gift but I think presence of family is paramount. If I were him, I would not only give what one normally gives but top it off with what it would have cost them to fly out and stay at a hotel.
I find tonka a very comforting note.
I do too! I really think people giving it a bad rap is actually smelling something else.
Wow. You weren’t kidding in the slightest about wedding drama. Sounds like your brother went on a fishing expedition to find an excuse not to attend, IMO.
DRAMA in caps for sure. He doesn’t need an excuse except he then has to explain how he was comfortable with the missions trip to Guatemala…
SMH!
Maja EDT
3 sprays on each foot, one behind each knee, crook of arm, top and bottom wrist and behind the neck for a total of 16 sprays.
You go, girl!
😂😂😂
It always tickles me that you spray your feet. I never go lower than my calves. Lol.
It’s been great seeing you lately 😀
Please try spraying the tops of the feet! Especially in the summer..the scent wafts up all day for you to enjoy
Have you ever worn perfume at the base of your spine? Hard to get to, but wafts wonderfully!
Thanks for that rec!! Will try tomorrow!! Adding an extra spray to the 16 count 😂
I am itchy just thinking about this but you do you!
Lol!! You would NOT have liked me in the 1980s…I would do up to 32 sprays . But in my defense, I have scent devouring skin.
I have scent devouring skin too and you are my new idol!
Rock on!
I chose Kyoto for an incense intro. Zagorsk would probably be a little much. But the CdG Incense line in general would be a good intro for incense.
You are twins with SherriG 🙂
We smelled fabulous today!
Happy Friday! Wearing Perdizione today. I used to not be a fan of orange blossom but have come full circle and love it now.🤷🏼♀️
At first glance, I read Prednisone and wondered what on earth??? That said, I looked up the notes for Perdizione and they look good!
🤣🤣🤣!
Happy National Dog Day to all the dogs and dog lovers out there! 🐕

I’m wearing another “intro” fragrance today and again CP compliant! Zounds! Never been so compliant in my life.
Anyway, another good intro to gourmand fragrances that is NOT a cupcake is Bvlgari Omnia. I don’t know of anyone who dislikes this perfume…if you don like it, speak up and let us know because I’d be very interested as to why.
Really, it’s a crowd pleaser, easy and undemanding, soft but present, unique but not off the chain, never overwhelming, even if you hajusuuri it!
I was thinking about wearing Chypre Mousse today, but then realized that one is an introduction to “polarizing perfumes.” 😉
That’s a great one! My question has always been why it was discontinued as everyone seems to like it.
Ah, the most important question of all! Luckily, it still seems pretty affordable and accessible at discounters. My bottle is almost gone. I will say I absolutely detest the bottle and spray mechanism…👍🏼
I agree with your Omnia comments, I ❤️ it. And Happy National Dog Day to your furbaby from my three 😻😻😻!
Right back at you and furballs! 😺
OK, I will speak up for not digging the original Omnia. Mostly because I can’t smell it after the top notes! No chai for me with that one.
Well, that’s understandable if you really can’t smell the nuances. I don’t get chai either. I get a semi-sweet semi-dusty baking spice mash-up. 🤷🏻♀️
And I think that was a common reaction.
I wore my “intro” fragrance yesterday so today I’m wearing vintage Bellodgia. Such a nice carnation.
You smell lovely.
Ooh, I do love carnations in fragrance!
I’m in Terracotta, which is maybe a good introduction to beachy scents? This one works better for me than Bronze Goddess.
Today is the first day of my staycation! I met a former colleague/friend this morning for coffee lakeside. It’s another beautiful day here.😎 I have met friends for lunch or coffee for 3 of my last 4 Fridays, I like this pattern.😉
My teenager started her job this week. I asked her what she is going to spend her first paycheck on and without hesitation it was “books!”
Happy Friday everyone!
I agree with you on Terracotta. I have never cared for Bronze Goddess on me. I have tried it numerous times, but finally gave up on it.
Me too. I tried the original and the Eau Fraiche and I get a very distinct alcohol note from both.
Yay for the job! Is she going to work and go to school?
Yep, she’s a junior in h.s. this year. (my baby🥹)
I know I have tried Bronze Goddess, but darned if I can remember anything else about it. I guess that means “Don’t bother, Jalapeno”.
Haha, yeah I’m guessing it must not have left much of an impression. Do you have a favorite beachy scent?
I have and love Terracotta. Smell Bent St. Tropez Dispenser Gold is also in that niche.
That child was raised right! Books for the win!
Probably no points for me today. I can’t stop wearing the nice sample of Profumum Confetto Body Cream sent to me by a lovely NST perfumista. Yes, it’s gourmand but I find it more vanilla-musk than vanilla-sweet. I really like vanilla with a twist and this one’s got that: anise and almond. I’m not sure what it would be a good intro to, but I love it for me!
I bet the body cream is great. I have a small decant and do love that one too.
Confetto is so good
Robin, I love your selection. That is definitely a good introduction to tuberose.
This may seem odd, but I think for younger people that are just getting into fragrance, they can get an idea from some of the Bath and Body Works scents what might be a good fit for them. I know that I had a difficult time getting into different rose scents and so started with some of their shower gels and lotions. I have slowly come around to wearing rose scents. Today I did use Rose Shower Gel from BBW and a fragrance I think is a good introduction to the rose. That would be Cassis, Rose & Sandalwood by Dame.
Now I want to try that Rose Shower Gel! BBW Sensual Amber is a great intro to a spicy amber, though it is quite sweet. The body cream is very good, as well as the spray mist.
This is NOT odd at all- and it’s actually rather prudent! BBW looks at trends and re-interprets them in a way that makes scent trends accessible, as well as different notes!
Cassis Rose and Sandalwood is a great choice!
Kris, have you tried Dame’s Lily of the Valley soliflore yet? It’s beautiful! The only contemporary LotV that I like.
I have not tried it and am not a huge fan of LOTV, but if it’s a contemporary one maybe I would like it. Have to think about it.
It’s a fresh, green, delicate floral. I was quite pleasantly surprised by it. The other contemporary LotV perfumes I have smelled have a green stabby note in them that makes my nose very unhappy.
I love your selection too…BBW is a great way to test out new notes without breaking the bank. Outside the US, Yves Rocher would fill about the same role.
Wearing Montale Cafe Ristretto Intense again. Perhaps coffee is considered an odd-ball note to those new to perfume…
I have wondered about that one. I have seen mixed reviews so wasn’t sure if I should try or not. I think I might like it.
Hi Fragrant Friends. No scent for me today — I’m just checking in. I was at a work conference all last week, and then came home with covid and have been in bed most of this week. Starting to feel better today, but I’m still too congested to smell much of anything. Luckily I can still taste things so I’m hopeful that covid didn’t mess up my sense of smell.
Unfortunately my 15ish year old kitty passed away unexpectedly this week. Losing both of my fur babies this summer has been tough. I am grateful that I was home when it happened so that I got to spend time with her on her last day, and so Mr. Vee didn’t have to handle the aftercare all on his own after finding her.
On a happier note, while I was away I snuck a few hours to myself to go scent shopping at Kuhl-Linscomb in Houston on Calypso’s recommendation. It was fantastic. Tied with Terrain for a store where I would happily move in and live there.
So sorry Vee, it’s hard to say goodbye to beloved pets.
Thanks, Aurora. No matter how much time we have with them, it is never enough.
Sending hugs!
What a tough year you’ve had.
🌹🤗🤗
Thank you, JB. I’ll take those hugs.
Only if we both wear masks tho; I don’t want to spread this thing to anyone else!
Oof, that’s a rough week. I’m so sorry. Hope you are feeling better soon!
Thanks, madtowngirl. I appreciate it. Enjoy your staycation!
Oh Vee, I am terribly sorry for your loss.
I hope you recover quickly and fully.
Thank you, lillyjo. The kindness of the NSTers really does help.
I’m sorry to read about your cat, and I hope recover from Covid quickly.
Thank you, Gaynor. It means a lot.
I’m sorry about your cat, Vee. That’s a very hard week, then adding covid on top of it.
Thanks Gail. I appreciate it.
Aw, so sorry to hear that both your dear kitties passed away this summer! One this week, no less. And then to have a COVID topper, ARGH. Hugs. 😿😿
Thanks Jalapeno. It has been pretty rough. I am really glad that I got to spend so much time with both of them these past 2.5 years while working from home. It was particularly helpful with the older one as her healthcare needs increased toward the end.
So sorry about your beloved kitty. That, travel (even if fun) and Covid means you should take some time off and keep resting. Hope you feel better soon.
Thanks MossyBerry. Yes, I agree that it is time for time off (that doesn’t involve me sleeping for 16 hours).
Glad you’re back but ooof on Kitty who went on to the rainbow bridge and you catching COVID! I hope you recover well and quickly!
Thanks hajusuuri. Today is the first time I have been upright for more than an hour without needed a nap, so I think I’m over the worst of it.
Oh no, Vee, I guess that means you caught Covid here in Houston? I’m so sorry and hope you’ll recover very soon. But I am glad you got to go to Kuhl-Linscomb and enjoyed shopping there. They do have a marvelous selection of perfumes! — Not to mention jewelry, soaps, candles, children’s things, and many other adult toys and gift items. I got some of my earliest introductions to niche perfumes there a long long time ago, when they were about 1/4 the size they are now.
It’s so sad to lose a kitty, let alone a second one so soon after your other one died. I’m so sorry that happened. I have two that I’m afraid are failing, and it’s tough. I hope you have many nice memories and fun photographs to treasure.
Get well soon!
Thanks Caylpso. It’s wouldn’t really be fair to say I got covid in Houston; more likely it was at the conference or airport. Our conference schedule was so full that, save for sneaking away to shop at K-L and a quick visit with an old friend in town, I really didn’t get to see Houston beyond the conference hotel. Thankfully it was not my first time there or I would have been super bummed to have missed the Rothko Chapel. I could sit in there for hours.
Please give your kitties an extra kiss from me.
My condolences
Thank you, chocolatemarzipan8. I really appreciate it.
Sending kitty cat sympathies! 😢
Thanks Deva. We know it is part of the deal with pets, and the love and joy while they are here is so overwhelming that it does out weigh the sorrow of when they are gone, but oof it is gut punch when it happens.
Oh, I’m so sorry for your loss, what a whammy of a week you’ve had. 🤗 Glad you got to spend some time with her on her last day, and sincere good wishes that you feel better soon. 🤗
Thanks Laila. Her last day was a good one — lounging and chin scratches and treats and all that good stuff, so focusing on that helps a lot.
Wow. That will be remembered as an awful week. Very sorry about your kitty. So so hard. Hope your recovery advances quickly.
Thank you, LizzieB. I appreciate it.
Oh, I’m sorry — what a rotten week. I hope you feel better soon!
Vee, I am so sorry about your kitty, and that must have been extra hard while you’re sick. Thinking of you and hope you are better soon.
I am so sorry to hear that. What a terrible week. Thinking of you and sending ♥
Happy Friday!
1) Jasmin by Molinard (from the big purple bottle) . It’s actually a really pretty jasminey/rose with a beautiful drydown that is VERY reminiscent of TF Jasmin Rouge. It’s an easy, non soapy, non rot jasmine to wear.
2) My houseguests will be gone this weekend! So maybe a quick trip to Seattle ?
I wish I could find a jasmine fragrance that smells as good as the potted one summering on my deck. None can compare!
Nothing will ever beat summer blossoming or tropical jasmine. Nothing.
“Non rot” made me laugh. I do personally like a bit of rot in my jasmine but you’re right that it isn’t a good introduction.
Ha!
I got what I meant!
I think that you kinda have to ease into that type of scent.
Smoothie is frozen mango and fresh kiwi.
I’ve been in two leathers today, baby leathers, could be intro to the note. Diorling and the even easier Arquiste Infanta en Flor.
I like the sound of baby leathers.
I’ve not heard of the Arquiste.
It’s my only Arquiste, orange blossom and soft leather, I remember that sometimes you have problems with ob.
Diorling is sooooooo gorgeous!
So glad you live it too.
Love Diorling and nearly chose it for today’s CP … but wasn’t completely sure that I would start a leather-phobe out with that one so I went another direction. Diorling is elegant and relatively mild as leathers go (and of course, as Jalapeño says, totally gorgeous), but not a beginner’s scent, to my mind.
Yes, I can see that, the Arquiste is probably safer for a beginner.
Scent: Osmanthus Interdite. I was craving a floral, and it delivered. Could definitely be a good intro to osmanthus, as it doesn’t have much of the more challenging facets you encounter in other osmanthus fragrances.
I like Osmanthus, Ormonde Jayne being my favorite.
Happy Friyay!
SOTD!
Chanel No.5 Elixer Sensuel with a couple of drops of No.5 parfum,I have enjoyed wearing No.5 after a long hiatus in different iterations(the Elixer is SERIOUSLY good!!).
I guess an introduction to “classical” perfumery and aldehydes then, yes?
Yes.
XO’s🌹✌🏻
Yes! Doesn’t get much more classic than no. 5.😉✌️
For today’s cp, I chose blood orange as the fragrance note to focus on. Although I don’t think that anyone would find this note ‘difficult,’ it’s one I never hear mentioned and it is definitely my favorite citrus note, sweet yet with just enough tartness to keep it from being cloying. I also love the blood orange sparkling Italian soda, and on our recent trip to Wisconsin, visited the Kennesaw Brewery and brought home some of its delicious Red Ridge Blood Orange Ale 🍺!
My SOTD is Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange, a simple fruity scent of oranges and berries, fresh and bright for summer. I think it offers a good introduction to this note. Later I’ll add Tocca Stella, its blood orange note joined by bitter orange, another favorite note of mine, and a bit of sophistication added with some white floral mid notes and a sandalwood bottom. ❤️ both of these scents in summer!
A very social weekend ahead for us (almost too much!) with a fundraiser for our local historical society, a birthday celebration for 😻😻😻and their brothers and their human ‘Auntie,’ and a nearby fest featuring one of our favorite local bands who will transform themselves into the Kinks. If I could clone myself I’d also attend a folk 🎶 performance that’s a charity fundraiser, a Sox ballgame, and a classical music concert, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. Weeding the garden will have to wait!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead however you choose to spend it!
You’ve got a busy weekend!
I love Sound Blood Orange Vanilla Black Tea that comes in a can. I wanted to get two casefuls but Whole Foods did not have it and I have been looking online but so far no joy.
Oh, sounds good, will have to try and find it.
The weeds will wait. Enjoy that weekend!
There is an excellent blood orange liqueur called Solerno that would make a great boozy italian soda. My dad (who talks about liqueurs the way we all talk about perfume) LOVES it.
Good to know this!
Oh, thank you. Will definitely check that out and make my own Italian soda!
My sotd is TF Metalique. A good introduction to Aldehydes (sp?)
It’s been a crazy day at work with a cast of customer characters that would never get their own sitcom. Thank goodness I am off soon.
Yep, you spelled “aldehydes” correctly! 😉
Good! My phone didn’t know what the heck I was trying to say!
Oy. I don’t think I can do retail at all because I’ll probably throttle every 3rd customer…
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that retail shop! 😀
Bwahahahahaha!
I only do that in my head.
Gotta pay the bills! Lol.
A guy yelled at me today for setting his shirt down on the counter to fold it. He says ” that’s where all the germs are!” I offered to hang it in a dress bag and he refused so I just dropped it in a regular bag not folded. I wanted to tell him ” your shirt has already been dropped on the floor and run over by kids a hundred times ” but I didn’t.
Have you tried Dame Perfumery Vanille Farfallie (sp?) ? I think you might like it.. aldehydes and vanilla
I love that one, as you know!
Yes and I love it! Some people have compared it to Metalique but they are not the same at all imo.
I’m planning a busy morning of spring cleaning, starting with light fittings. My mother is coming to visit in a few weeks and that’s always a great catalyst to clean the house. At nearly 92, she won’t be climbing a ladder to peer at the lightshades (not that she ever would have done such a thing!), but I’ll know that everything is fresh and clean.
I can still smell last night’s Bengale Rouge on my clothes, post-shower I’m thinking of Chaldee from Jean Patou.
Ooooooh, Chaldee is something special! Do you have vintage, or the Heritage Collection version?
Ooh, both wonderful fragrances! You smell great!
Sneaking into NST early while I have a bit of time.
Today, I chose immortelle as my challenging note. It is definitely polarizing!
SOTD = Annick Goutal Nuit Etoilee EdT. The EdT has a wonderful mint top note that I don’t notice with the EdP. And the immortelle is more of an accent note, rather than being the center of the perfume composition. Getting plenty of herby notes and pine needles in this one, too. Of course, YMMV!
That one sounds very challenging for me! Immortelle: furrows brow. Herby notes: looks askance. Pine and mint: ready to RUUNNNN. But on you, I am sure it is fabulous!
Would it help to say that the mint doesn’t smell like toothpaste at all? 😉🌿
There’s something in here that I am registering as thyme. No sage here that I can find.
I love your scent of the day! I have the blue ribbed bottle.
I have the 50mL blue bottle. It is so freaking cute!
On my skin immortelle reads as maple syrup… even the essential oil, which I have worn.
Same for me, but also a bit sour, not like cozy pancakes with maple syrup.
I’m getting a touch of the maple syrup, but with everything else in the perfume, it reads as sun-warmed herbs and skin.
Same for me too.
I like the EDT best, for the reasons you describe.
I prefer the EdT, too. The EdP is something I can only wear when it is really cold outside.
Immortelle really is a challenge for a lot of people I think. Good call for the cp!
Thank you! Immortelle is a challenge for me as well. So I picked something that I can wear. But it is definitely something I have to be in the mood for.
I took advantage of being home alone so I’m in Aromatics Elixir. I mostly get the sage and coriander notes; there’s also rose and patchouli listed in the notes but I get more of the herb-y aspect!
It’s interesting what our different noses pull out of a scent!
I need to get my nose on Aromatics Elixir. I wore it in the late 70s. Back then it was a powerhouse.
My bottle is a more recent version. It’s not exactly the same on the opening but It’s still pretty good once it settles down. I need to seek out an original formulation. I did have a bottle long ago but gave it to my sister; she no longer has it.
Powerhouse, definitely! It’s such a great perfume!
I’m sure current formulation still has original DNA. I’m going to try to test it next time I get to a Clinique counter.
I love Aromatics Elixir, but I would call it an advanced perfume subject!
Yes, exactly! Definitely not a beginner-type of scent. When I first smelled it all those years ago there was something so compelling about it. I do remember wearing it to one of my first office jobs!
Aromatics Elixir is divine. You smell great!
Thank you!
I wore Thomas de Monaco Raw Gold for the CP, intending it to serve as an easy introduction to patchouli, because it is so smooth and golden-syrup-y. Then I looked up the actual notes and it has many I didn’t realize are there–coffee, leather, liquor, lipstick, iris, civet, tonka, honey–wow! It could work as an entry-point to an entire library of troublesome perfume notes! I’ve almost gone through two samples from Luckyscent. It’s a perfume I was smitten with at first sniff. But darned if I can bring myself to spend $300 for a bottle. Boo-hoo.
I’ve had a giant amount of dental work done this week, but think I’m able to chew at last, and so I’m planning both a lunch and dinner out with friends tomorrow. Hope it works out. And hope we don’t get flooded! Rain is in the forecast, and the weatherman is watching two tropical storm systems out in the ocean. September is actually the worst hurricane month. Now’s the time we go on pins and needles.
Sending you ‘Stay safe’ wishes!🤗
Glad to hear that the dental work is behind you now! Stay dry.
Cap Neroli is a good one for introducing rosemary.
I couldn’t help but think I could have gone for negative CP points by wearing Insolence Edt as an intro to Violet. There’s nothing easy about Insolence.
But you smell wonderful!
Insolence is such a fun fragrance!
2nd that. And sometimes negative CP points are fun too 🙂
I’ve been enjoying Carthusia’s A’mmare, which has a very nice rosemary note.
Lattedoro, staying on my Italian theme but also a lovely introduction to turmeric (which is a difficult note to find)
Good mesh of projects!
Sounds nice! I would have gone with LUSH Turmeric Latte body spray.
Unfortunately, I don’t have the Lush spray. I haven’t seen it since I moved to Denver and before that was the middle of the pandemic so I wasn’t doing too much shopping
Yesterday I asked for CP points for Shalimar Philtre de Parfum, which is a fabulous introduction to Shalimar (a difficult fragrance for many). But today I just went for a comfort scent, Tzigana, from Aquaflor. So no CP points today, but I’m happy. Have a great weekend, everyone!
Happy-making perfume beats a CP-compliant perfume hands down.
Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do! And who doesn’t love a good happy-making perfume?
When does Donatella come back again? Because I caved, big-time, this weekend. Oops.
