Happy Friday and happy Midsummer 2022! (The solstice was on the 21st, but traditional Midsummer, in some countries, anyway, is celebrated today). Our community project for today: wear what you'd wear to dance around a Maypole or light a bonfire on the beach, or whatever you think fits.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
We did not make it to Montreal again (boo hiss to Air Canada!!) but after five wasted hours in the airport, we repacked and reoriented and got on the road: we're now at the beach. I'm commando because I remembered to add a bathing suit to my luggage, but perfume did not even cross my mind. It looks like we will have good weather this weekend, and some day, maybe, I will make it to Canada.
Reminder: on 7/1, Rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's July, and Canada Day. Also, International Reggae Day, National Gingersnap Day and International Joke Day. Birthdays: George Sand, Estée Lauder, Debbie Harry, Princess Diana. Pick an occasion (it doesn't have to be listed here!) and a fragrance to match, and tell us about it.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Good morning!
Sotd is Hummingbird. Fresh floral bouquet fit for dancing around a Maypole.
Has anyone watched the thriller/horror Midsommar? If you a a fan of the genre, do check it out!
Sorry about your trip Robin… But a beach vacay is really nice! Enjoy your time there.
No, just the trailer is frightening enough for me!
Beach is lovely!! Can’t complain.
So sorry about your flight Robin, again! Glad you were able to regroup and make it to the beach- a great place to be.
I’m in Vilhelm 125th & Bloom from a sample, a perfumey perfume and not something I’d normally reach for, but I went with Swedish Vilhelm for Midsummer. I think it will bloom nicely in the heat.😉😂
I am off today, and we are headed over to Milwaukee this afternoon to Summerfest, the worlds largest music festival. We are going to see a band my daughters introduced me to: Dayglow. We watched him on Austin City Limits last fall. His music is catchy and has a feel good vibe. I haven’t been to summerfest since 2015, and madtownteen has never been. We’re gonna ride the skyglider, which is kind of like a chair lift that goes above the festival grounds with fantastic views of Lake Michigan. I’ve been thinking all week about what I’m going to eat when we get there. lol. There is basically everything you can imagine available.
Well this sounds awesome!
Although the skyglider is making me dizzy. Lol
Have a great time!
How fun, have a great time!
Sounds like a whole lotta fun! Hoping to get to your area in mid-August.
Now that I live here, I will have to head to Summerfest sometime in the future. Not this year. That chair lift sounds amazing. I’d have to gird my loins, given my fear if heights.
My niece wants to go the Renaissance Faire down in Kenosha area. Another huge thing.
Wow, that sounds like loads of fun!
Robin, so sorry about your flight. I hope the beach has the decency to give you great weather. 🌞
Horrible sleepless night last night. Consequently, feeling a bit hung over even though I haven’t had a drop of alcohol. Lack of sleep could make me fail a field sobriety test, I’m quite sure.
I haven’t applied anything yet today but will eventually pick something soft and unobtrusive. Probably in oil format. Plus, I’m have a lot to do today and I feel like doing NONE of it. Guess I better put on my big girl panties and shake a leg.
I will be joining you in big girl panties today Deva. Good thing I did the laundry!🤣
Hope it’s a good night’s sleep tonight!
I was feeling trashed this morning after a long drive and sitting up talking until 2am. Fortunately a couple aspirin with codeine and lots of caffeine got me back up and running.
Also, forgot to mention I was in Macy’s yesterday a saw a bunch jelly sandals that were clearly a knock off of the ones I bought. The NERVE! 😁
Ugh — bad sleep makes me the worst version of myself. Let’s hope tonight is nothing but deep, rejuvenating sleep for you.
Do sleep well tonight Deva! That’s the worst.
Yuck. Sleep dep sucks, hardcore.
So sorry Air Canada let you down! Hopefully we can meet up at some point and your beach vacation is enjoyable. I arrived in Montreal last night after 4 long exhausting days in the car. So happy to be back here! Home at last. Today is the Quebec national holiday so we are going to a rooftop party this afternoon with friends at our old building. Will wear FB Dark Night because it smelled so good when I wore it the other day. Definitely need a backup bottle of that.
Glad you made it! Enjoy your time there! Hopefully you have lots of sun.🌞
Thank you! Warm and sunny, feels great after all the cold rainy days we’ve had for the past 2.5 months.
Glad you made it safely! What is FB? I don’t think I am familiar with Dark Night.
Francesca Bianchi – but I think I got the name wrong, it’s Dark Side.
Oh thanks. I would not have thought of Francesca Bianchi. Looks interesting.
Glad you arrived! Enjoy!
Thanks! So happy.
Yay! Glad you made it!
Me too, thanks!
I am happy you made it and just in time for the good weather. Enjoy your time here and hope to see you soon.
It’s wonderful to be here! See you on the 4th and enjoy your time at the cottage!
So glad you are safely there and out of the car!! Have fun. We will meet some day.
Whoo hoo for you making it safely to Montreal! Enjoy!
Robin, you are just not having any luck getting to Montréal, are you? Maybe third time’s the charm!
It is yet another glum rainy day, which I suppose is a kind of improvement over last summer’s scorching heat, but I am luxuriating in the radiant, fluorescently green Mugler Aura, so I don’t much care what it does out there.
You smell fab!
You’re smell wonderful today.
You
Seriously bad luck! The universe does not want me in Montreal.
We may try again in the fall, but we can’t go anytime soon.
Robin… maybe plan to come for Canadian Thanksgiving? It’s usually still warm and sunny, autumn is just starting. It’s a great time to visit Montreal and the food is great!
Also… I haven’t flown Air Canada for I can’t remember how long. Check out Porter Airlines which started in Toronto and now has many domestic CDN routes and also international US routes. They do fly out of some US cities and they partner with Jet Blue.
Thanks viridiaan, I will! There are not many airlines that fly direct from Philadelphia to Montreal so I do need to investigate.
And we are considering fall 🙂
I’m wearing Pulp, because I really like it, and I wanted to finish the decant. I’m celebrating all the lovely fruits of midsummer in Texas, like cherries (imported from Washington) and peaches.
Good choice for the CP!
Such a great fruity scent!
So sorry to hear about your flight. Glad you had a backup plan with the beach… enjoy yourself.
SotD is two fragrances paired (one on each wrist as they do not layer well) – MM Replica beach walk on one side and Fresh sugar Lychee on the other.
Thanks Kinuknits!
Back from Boston. Had a great trip and stayed an extra day due to our flight being delayed than cancelled.
SOTD No 19 poudre
While away I smelled Allure Sensuelle and lemming a bottle.
Robin, Montreal is one of my favorite spots in Canada 🇨🇦
Allure Sensuelle is gorgeous.
How does Sensuelle differ from the original?
It smells more of pachouli and dried fruits to me. Sweeter. But its also really restrained.
So sorry about the need to change plans again, Robin. Hope you have a blast at the beach.
I want my midsummer bonfire to feel a little trippy so I chose En Voyage perfumes Go Ask Alice today. It has a bitter green edge that smells great in hot weather.
Grace Slick is singing in my head…
Ha – that happened to me immediately, too.
Yep! I went there, too.
I seriously could not ask for better weather. I am soaking it up for reserve. Back up sun!
I need to get off my chair and start cleaning again. My daughter has an evaluation today to see if she needs a guardian (me) once we get the report saying she does, I will have to petition the court to become her legal guardian. The whole thing gives me anxiety, even though I expect everything to go fine. I am going to wear a spritz of Chance eau Vive for the meeting. Afterwards I will put on Angel eau crosiere for the cp.
Have a good time at the beach Robin!
So happy you’re getting (spell check changed “getting” to “ghettoing”!) good weather at last! Good luck with the guardianship process!
We did durable power of attorney. The whole process gave me the heebie jeebies. Sending hugs.
Yay for soaking up sun! Good luck with the legal paperwork. All that official administrative stuff gives me anxiety too.
I hope everything goes smoothly and in your favour and that you can relax afterwards. Big hug!
Hope that your heavy legal things went smoothly today lillyjo, and you are now relaxing in perfumed figgy goodness.
Hope it went well! I just took an online course on Business Process Engineering and I would like to engineer this process of having to petition to be the legal guardian for i to our daughter.
Wearing Grand Chalet since it actually arrived at my house on solstice. My first perfume delivered to my HOUSE. Definitely worth celebrating
You smell lovely!
We’re twins today!
Yay for your new Grand Chalet (perfume & house)!
Perfect first perfume delivery!!
Hello to everyone, long time no see.
I am in 4160 Tuesdays “Urura’s Tokyo Cafe” as I wanted something soft and easy today. TOMK and I are recovering from Covid – having dodged it for 2+ years, I picked it up in Lille while travelling for work and brought it home as a special souvenir. I don’t recommend it much (Covid, that is; Lille is fine). One week in and although I don’t feel very ill at this stage I still get tired very easily and can’t put in a day’s work yet. I think this is reasonably common, no?
So today is St John’s Day because John the Baptist was born exactly 6 months ahead of Jesus and by a convincingly happy coincidence we ended up having Christian holidays on both these old pagan solar festivals. Last night the beaches up and down the Mediterranean coast were full of kids lighting the traditional fires and leaving behind the traditional mountains of plastic bottles. St. John’s Eve bonfires were also a rural tradition in Ireland when I was a kid – not sure they still are. I don’t recall ever seeing anything about it in England.
I add my commiserations to Robin, although I am living proof that sometimes it would be better *not* to get on that plane. :^D
hope you get better soon!
Thanks Tannina!
Get well soon, Koenigsberg! At least you seem to have kept your sense of smell. It’s very hard to live your life and avoid COVID completely even if you are careful.
Thanks! Yes, we have been careful for a long time (helped that Andalucia took it seriously right the way through, plus we have the weather for outdoor dining year round). But in the end I decided I couldn’t put off travelling for work any longer and so I got exposed to more careless people. 🤷🏻♂️
Sorry to hear about the Covid, hope you feel better soon. We also got it in May despite taking all precautions, getting all shots/boosters, giving up much of what we were used to. I was symptomatic, Mr. Laila had mild symptoms and it took him a couple of weeks to get back to his usual energy level. Take it slow and take good care of yourself.
Thanks Laila! Yes, I am listening to my body (there is quite a lot of it to listen to these days, in fairness) and it is telling me to rest a lot. 😃
You smell wonderful! Wishing you a speedy and complete recovery.
Thanks Cazaubon! Glad to see you made it across the border safely. 🙂
Get well wishes for you and TOMK!
Cheers! 🙂
Oh no, so sorry!! My sister is just recovering (she finally tested negative after 13 days) and she did not work until day 9 or 10, I think (she works from home anyway). Hope you will be back to normal soon.
Absolutely NOBODY at the beach is masking indoors but my husband and I. And this was also true at the Philadelphia Airport.
Hopefully so – I am also lucky enough to work from home most of the time. 😃
In Arpege for a spin around the maypole on this beautiful sunny day.
I wore a dab of vintage Arpege the other day and decided to spring for a FB of the recent version since it’s so heavily discounted and I had read that it’s actually a decent reformulation, which I’m happily finding it to be.
And re-posting this question from yesterday in case anyone has any intel –
Has anyone heard of Bohdidharma, a Black Lapsung Pure Tea Extrait or other fragrances from this brand/perfumer?
I was given this by a very generous NSTer in a swap and since it had been given to her by someone else (who doesn’t have more about the brand/perfumer), I thought I would reach out to you all.
I am really enjoying smoky/incense fragrances these days and would love to try others from this perfumer.
Internet searching tells me that the fragrance was made by Michael Boadi who, according to his Instagram, is a “Session Hairstylist and Master Perfumer”. Fragrantica lists 14 perfumes attributed to him but I can’t find any of these fragrances online.
Any help is much appreciated (and could also be used against you as enabling 🙂 )
https://bohdidharmaluxuryperfume.com/shop/
This is from the website. They seem pretty expensive, £160 but sound nice. I didn’t look at shipping details but imagine they ship international. I think Selfridges also stock them and probably ship overseas.
I checked Selfridges and nothing is in stock so it seems to be a bit of a dead end like you said. Maybe just contact Bohididharma directly?
Kanuka, thank you so much for helping me sleuth. For some reason, my computer won’t let me access that web page because “the connection might not be private.” Do you think that means that Donatella could have eyes on me and my perfume buying habits???
I might keep searching or I might take it as a message from the perfume gods that I should be grateful that I have a bottle already and just leave it at that, especially at that price!
Your response also reminded what an incredibly generous and kind community this is. Thanks again! 🙂
And also thanks to Robin for providing this fragrant haven. The least the perfume gods could have done was to get you and your husband on that da*ned flight!
Sorry I wasn’t more helpful. Skive is a wonderful woody spicy perfume . Not smoky but luscious. J.Hannah 2014. Also Smell Bent Smoked Ambergris.
You’re a psychic! My Skive order just arrived in today’s mail and it’s gorgeous!
Allo, have you tried Sonoma Scent Studio’s Incense Pure and Fireside Intense?
hajusuuri mentioned SSS Incense Pure and but I hadn’t heard about their Fireside Incense. Thank you. Sounds like I need to try both of these.
Fireside Incense is smokier!
The Incense Pure is the driest incense scent I have come across. Like desert dry.
Dare I dream that she has an annual (Labor Day, Black Friday) sale???
I would say sample first. I wouldn’t consider either one a safe blind buy.
But yes, there have been sales in the past.
See what you made me do – it should be Fireside Intense!
LOL! Fireside Incense sounds pretty darn good to me. 🤣
have not had time to say. hello to all! Todays SOTD was at least 10sprays of Eau de Lancaster for a warm and muggy day with showers and thunderstorms. It´s a really nice cheapie (which i am fond of). Will spend the weekend cooking and maybe sewing a new dress. I bought a nice pattern from Merchant and Mills with a sailor collar. I love those. Still a child of the 80ies…:)))
Nice to see you again!
Good to hear from you!
Yay Friday and gorgeous weather here finally. Just finished an amazing yoga class. And heading to my desk to watch a couple of retirement videos from our benefits office. My reward will be a walk shortly. No CP points for me–I’m in Nez Ambre a Levres just because it smells so good. It’s one of my white t-shirt fragrances (is that what we call them? the ones that always work, any time any place?). I don’t usually do back-up bottles, but this one is a pretty amazing price and a small size.
And Robin – so sorry about the Montreal trip. Hope the beach is wonderful!!
Yes, we are having a wonderful time, thanks!
I love the term “white t-shirt fragrances”
🙂
I agree on Ambre à Lèvres and bought a backup. 🙂
😀 I know that allo did, also. I may have to join the club.
Search no further for your back-up 🙂
Robin, I’m beginning to think that you weren’t meant to be in Montreal. I’m so sorry about the hassle, and happy that you were able to come up with another plan. 🏖
I have joined thegoddessrena in my SotD – Grand Chalet. The lindens are starting to bloom all over my neighborhood, and I’m in heaven. The weather is a little changeable today, but it’s sunny for the most part and not too hot. I’ll take it!
Happy Friday, all!
You smell fantastic!
You’re right!
And, you smell fantastic.
OMG, R — I can’t believe you didn’t make it to Montreal AGAIN. (I can’t tell you how many times I’ve personally cursed the very name of Air Canada, though, so not *that* surprising.) Hope the beach is just fabulous and happy anniversary! I told you I totally love Montreal but I also urge you to think about Toronto one day, which nobody does — I think we’re not even on the popular destinations in TripAdvisor for Canada or something, which is insane, since, like 70% of the cool stuff in Canada is here. (And I say that not being a born/bred Torontonian, having lived in five provinces and having travelled everywhere and *knowing* we are not the centre of the universe, as all Canucks accuse us of thinking we are. It’s just objectively true.) Enjoy a fragrance-free day in the sun!
Toronto made “The Top 10 Cities in the World to Live In” list I read recently, so there’s that! 😄
Every time I drive into that city I feel that entirely too many people think of Toronto.
Do you drive in Montreal at all? 😉 Not my favourite, though I love the city.
Driving in Montreal is horrible, I refuse. Fortunately the public transportation is great.
Having lived in both cities, I’m definitely Team Montréal, but I do agree it’s worth visiting Toronto.
Ah, see, I’m the opposite. But only lived in Montréal for four months. And I will say I prefer Habs fans to Leafs fans (even though many family and friends are the latter).
I would love to go to Toronto! We picked Montreal for this vacation because it was one of the cities we had considered for our honeymoon before deciding on Prague.
I am not fond of Air Canada at the moment, but I have no idea if they are any worse than any other airline at the moment. I will say that getting them on the phone is no easy thing!
Their phone service is appalling and good luck getting a refund out of them, but they are the only airline flying nonstop from San Diego to Montréal.
I chose Historiae Bouquet du Trianon for the CP, a charming XVIIIth century inspired honeyed floral bouquet. This evening I am in Franck Boclet Vanille, a citrussy vanilla.
You’ve mentioned the Franck Boclet a few times, iirc.
Yes, you remember well, I call it the poor man’s dulcis in fundo.
Have a Good time at the beach Robin! For Canada, UT will be 3rd time lucky, I hope.
I hope so too 🙂
Ugh, Robin, so sorry to hear about your travel plans! Hope the alternative vacation is wonderful, though.
I went with La Haie Fleurie today — to me it smells like a florid (but not too soliflorid) meadow, warm, soft, early summer days, late golden light, joyfulness and celebration, and necking in the hayricks. Pretty much how I wish I was spending my day, although it’s pretty okay regardless. Littles is at a garden camp this week, and made me a special sleep-inducing potpourri from herbs that he gathered, and today he’ll be taking me on a tour of the 6-acre garden at pick-up time.
We’re heading to Sequoia National Park (i.e. “home”) tomorrow, so I’ll be away and commando for a week, but wishing you all well!
Yay, a “Littles” update! Hope you and the kiddo are doing well.
Oh what fun — enjoy Sequoia!!
Nice to see you, Isabella. I’m not making time to post often these days, unfortunately. Garden camp sounds adorable!
I am so sorry about your Montreal trip Robin. Come to NZ instead – it might be easier ( direct flights from NY if you can stand 18 hours on a plane).
Unfortunately my mother once took up Morris dancing and was in a group called The Magic Mushrooms. This period coincided with my early teenage years and there are few things more excruciating than seeing your mother dressed in a red waistcoat ( with appliqué mushroom) , red pants tied with bells and ribbon wrapped sticks dancing gaily in the main city mall on a Saturday afternoon. I am sure she got a real buzz from seeing my stricken face as we walked together back to the car after each performance…take that horrible teenager, ha ha. Fortunately she got sick of it pretty quickly. Wearing JM mimosa cardamon in tribute to her.
Wiping away the laughter tears…
I’m re-reading the Lucia books at the moment, and this particular phase of your mother’s sounds like a perfect fit for Riseholme!
How are you doing? Hope things are going well. I will have to check out Mapp and Lucia.
😀 Your mom sounds awesome! (and you smell really good today)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=D2_NpHUiIdc
Happy midsummer!
The Magic Mushrooms Morris dancers. Thank you. It has been a very tough day, but that image is spectacular. Absolutely.
My mum was more into Jazzercise–sort of workouts a la Bob Fosse. The outfits were no way as fun as those for Morris dancing, and the attitude was solely a grim determination to shed pounds. Her “exercise studio” only closed down just before the pandemic–so it was a long run. I can match you in my teenage mortification at being dragged along.
I’d would have happily taken my Mom Morris Dancing over me having to survive square dancing in my elementary school P.E./gym class. Having to dance with boys at an age where they are still icky was horrible.
Edit: “I would have…” or “I’d have…” Tsk!
One of the happy things about Montreal is it is a 90 minute flight!! Assuming you can actually get on a plane to go there 😉
And that story is priceless, thank you.
Oh Robin, I am so sorry about your flight, but so very impressed by your ability to pivot and make the best of a rotten situation.
In Bollywood or Bust today, which I think is pretty CP-compliant, even though that wasn’t my goal. Whoever said the Smell Bents don’t last long sure was right; it’s only been a few hours but I think I could do with a re-up.
You smell fleetingly fabulous! I’ve been finding the same thing with their scents but am glad to have had the chance to get a few in the garage sale, complete with the sprayer finger workout!
Haha, nice! Which ones did you get?
Prairie Nymph lasted FOREVER on me yesterday! I still smelled traces of it this morning before my shower.
Oh nice! I haven’t tried that one, but how nice that it lasts on you 🙂
Like many couples, my husband and I are opposites. I would have stayed home and sulked all weekend, and I immediately came up with 20 reasons why I could not possibly go to the beach, but he cajoled me into it and promised Shake Shack on the ride down…
How wonderful 🙂 I’m glad his cajoling worked.
Ugh Robin, sorry about your flight. I hope you have a lovely time at the beach.
I am commando today because I am at a conference and didn’t know how tightly they would pack us in, but I would have worn PdN’s new frag Riviera Verbena. I got a sample of this week and it is great! My notes were: “This is SO GOOD! Like summer, but fresh and cool. Green. Fresh, dewy green. I would bathe in this.”
No tea today because I’m masked up. Unfortunately, I seem to be the only one who is.
The NY times crossword has a perfume clue today. Mr. Vee still hasn’t gotten it and it is taking lots of self control not to blurt it out!
😀 I will look for it!
I’ve noticed that almost no one seems to mask up at the grocery stores in my area anymore. Makes me uneasy.
I was making an informal observation this morning at Penn Station. I would say at most 10% were masked up and of those masked up, some wore it wrong! Oy vey. The grocery stores around here are better but definitely is on a downward trend.
Makes me so happy to hear that about the PDN…have not loved the last few summer scents but will try to get a sample of this one.
I’m sorry about your flight, Robin; the beach doesn’t sound half bad though. Glad that you were able to make lemonade out of lemons.
Also commando today so far since the sun is shining brightly; I’m just in sunscreen for the moment. We have temperatures on the big upswing for the next few days. Hubby is getting the back yard ready for the oncoming heat. The misters are out and we got ourselves a little blow-up pool for the deck to keep the feet cool. I need to go find the umbrella for the table.
Stay cool everyone 😎!
Love the image of you on the desk with your feet in the pool!!
In Rahele for the CP.
Robin, I’m so sorry for your upended vacation plans, but I hope you enjoy the beach. I have nothing good to say about Air Canada after they refused to refund my tickets to India during the first weeks of Covid. I will never fly them again.
My laptop keyboard won’t work correctly after some condensation from a glass dripped in it, so I’m on an ancient HP from about 10 years ago. It was in the recycle box! Scentwise, I’m wearing Madhat Limed, perfect for a warm, sunny day.
Oh no, seriously?? That’s awful. They did refund our flight, but had to sit on hold for 2 1/2 hours to get to that point.
Oh, Robin, I’m so sorry your trip got messed up again but I’m glad you were able to reorient quickly and get to the beach. I’ve never found beach time to be disappointing, so enjoy!
Fruity and aquatic, juicy and happy and bright, Bvlgari Omnia Coral is my choice for today’s cp. I’m a person who not only enjoys changing my makeup, fragrances, and the clothes I wear with the change of seasons, but also the colors I wear. As an outdoor person who tans easily, by midsummer my favorite color is coral – accompanied by turquoise – colors I never wear outside of summer. I find Omnia Coral perfect for pretty much any summer occasion and one that complements the summer clothes I wear. Tonight’s outdoor concert celebrates all things ‘beach’ – so lighting a bonfire on the beach could certainly be accompanied by Omnia Coral. That’s what I’ll be wearing tonight along with clothing and jewelry in the same color to celebrate summer freedom!
Looking forward to tonight’s concert and our community garden walk on Sunday but the best part of the weekend has already happened – lunch with my son and how-did-they-get-so-grown-up almost-fifteen-year-old grandtwins ❤️. Have a good one!
Omnia Coral has a wonderful hibiscus note in it!
Hope the concert was wonderful — sounds like a perfect weekend!
Sorry about your flight Robin. I hope you could come another time.
It seems like airports and flights are crazy !!
I am at the cottage on the lake, the weather is finally warm and nice. I am wearing Chanel eau de Cologne.
ahhhhhh, yesssss! You smell like summer. That’s my holy grail EdC. 🙂
Yay for cottage on the lake!
I’m sorry to read about your trip, Robin, how frustrating. At least you had a back-up plan.
I’m doing my regular Saturday morning task of writing a list for supermarket shopping. After the supermarket, we will be making our first visit to our new great niece, very exciting, there will be four generations in the room .
I will decide on a perfume shortly, nothing too potent, I don’t want to overpower a three week old baby 🙂
congratulations to your extended family! 😀 A new baby and four generations together, how wonderful.
Awwww, congrats on the visit with your new Greatniece!
That really is exciting!!!
Glad you made it to the beach Robin. Not too bad a consolation prize, but still a bummer about Montreal.
In Fiori di Capri, because it always makes me imagine sitting under an umbrella at a cafe above a rocky beach and looking at the Mediterranean. (Not quite my experience this morning…I was sitting outside having coffee with a friend, but not so exotic a locale.)
Talked briefly with my boss. Sounds like my schedule next week will be off work Tues and Thursday. And then the crush of 4th of July, so we will be all hands on Friday through Monday. I have decided not to participate in the town parade…the market always marches with grocery carts doing various formations. I’ll let the summer kids do it.
Still no sign of the Nicolai scent I ordered. I may cancel and try the new Riviera Verbena in a blind buy.
See Vee’s comment about, she liked Riviera Verbena!
SotD Aerin Mediterranean Honeysuckle in Bloom, from a sample bonanza given by a generous NST’er. It has a lovely freshness, but sits very close to the skin. Another hot day here but very sunny and beautiful. I like your spirt, Robin: and a walk along a beach does sooth many a disappointment for me.
beach walks are the best! 😀
I love the smell of honeysuckle. Is the perfume close to nature or a far cry?
I get that sweet, garden fence floral smell at the beginning, but most of it is more a citrus-leafy scent. The long dry-down is very unisex and “fresh.”
sotd = Terracotta le Parfum with Songes EdT on deck for this evening.
A dozen white peaches are ripening on my kitchen counter. They smell heavenly. Between the peaches and sniffing my wrists, I’m feeling all kinds of summery, beachy vibes. 🙂
I had a total smh moment today. Decided to go for my daily walk, reached into the bowl of keys near my front door, popped a house key in my pocket, and headed out.
Halfway down the block I realized I had grabbed the spare key for my sister’s house, not mine. D’oh! I was locked out. My sister’s house is within walking distance, and she has a spare key for my front door.
So I went there and back again, did 3 miles round trip. It’s hot here but there was a moderate breeze, so it’s all good. Now it’s just after 2 pm here, so time for a late lunch.
Watch out for life’s curveballs, NST friends! Hope your day is full of happy surprises.
Ooooooh, your peaches sound amazing! Excuse me while I drool a bit. 😋🍑
The peaches sound yummy! Too bad about the keys but great that your sister lives close by. My neighbor across the street has my spare keys and I have hers.
Oh no!!! Glad you were able to get back in.
Chiming in a little late to say that I chose Jour d’Hermes for the CP. Happy Friday everyone!
that’s perfect! Jour is a very happy fragrance. 😀
Robin, sorry to hear that you didn’t get to Montreal again! What a bummer. The airports seem to be messed up with a lot of cancellations lately. But the beach is a nice consolation location…
Up at “Are you kidding me o’clock” this morning for no particular reason. I thought briefly about going outside and checking for the Grand Planetary Conjunction in the skies, but decided that my bed was far too cozy. Especially with a snuggle-buddy kitty by my side.
SOTD = SSS Fireside Intense, from the decant/travel spray stash. I am bonfire ready! 🔥
You sure are with the bonfire. There was someone who used to post here a while back and I could quite remember her name. She gave me a sample of Fireside Intense and it almost made me think I burnt something by mistake. I’m sure my feelings regarding it had changed over the 6 or 7 years ago that I got it (this was when I vowed not to wear any patchouli fragrances).
Getting mostly wood smoke and incense today. There is a little rumble of patch as a bottom note, but I didn’t notice it until you said something.
Robin – sorry about your foiled plans to get to Montreal but glad you were able to pivot. A pox on Air Canada – I’m not a fan.
SOTD = Dior Dune
Lovely! No picture today yet, maybe later or maybe not. I may take a posting break from IG but will do stories – I’m kind of addicted to those little photo stickers that tell you to post something (red, nature, any picture, etc).
I came home from work very early as I did not want to get stuck in NY with what I’m thinking could be a busy travel day.
Summer Fridays were always terrible commuting out of Philly. I bet NYC could be much worse.
