Happy Friday and happy National Iced Tea Day! (Also, bunch of birthdays: Gustave Courbet, Hattie McDaniel, Howlin' Wolf, Saul Bellow, Prince Philip, Judy Garland, Maurice Sendak, E. O. Wilson.) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a tea note (a repeat of the Tea Time Friday in 2015, by request from AnnE).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in L'Artisan Thé Pour Un Éte, from my very old bottle (the first few minutes are a bit janky but then it's fine).
Reminder: 6/17 will be William Shakespeare Friday...wear a fragrance that matches a favorite line from a sonnet or play, or do something else creative with the theme. Suggested by allo.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m taking CP points in Armani Thé Yulong. Of my several tea scents, this is a favorite.
I can’t believe I still haven’t tried it!
I bet a lot of people will be wearing Bulgari, because tea is one of their mainstays. I certainly am: I considered Thé Vert, which sort of invented the category (and which I bought upon its launch — it really is terrific), but today I couldn’t resist Black, with its jarring smoky/resiny/rubbery vibe and then all that plush vanilla.
You will probably win that bet! In the blue tea…
I’m in Dear Polly.
Today is madtownteen’s first day of summer vacation. She is officially half way through high school.🥺 How did that happen.
We have a busy day planned today with appointments and errands and then tomorrow we are traveling to see family. Sunday is my beloved granny’s birthday, and she would have been 96 years old. Our family is finally getting the chance to gather and spread her ashes, per her request. Several years before her death, she made arrangements to have her body donated to the University of Minnesota for medical research and education for health professionals. As a nurse and lover of science, it was something I could totally get behind. We were supposed to get her ashes a year later, but of course the pandemic caused even this to be delayed. My aunt finally received them last fall. We have waited until her birthday because it felt like the right way to do it. Although I still miss her, the emotions are not nearly as raw as they were in those first few days and weeks. Grief is a powerful thing. We are going to make it a happy day. We are each going to share a favorite story and picture of her. I might even play one of the many voicemails I saved of her on my phone.☺️
Your post brought tears to my eyes. I’m glad you are finally able to gather as a family and remember your granny in such a beautiful and meaningful way. Hugs to you, madtowngirl.
Thanks Nancyleandros.😊 I’m hoping there will be more smiles and laughter on Sunday than tears.
Yes! Here’s to smiles and laughter in memories!
😊👍🏻
This is a very touching post, Madtowngirl! I am sure your granny will be smiling from heaven seeing the whole family together remembering and honoring her. I am sending you and your family big hugs! ❤️
Thanks pl67.❤️ It’s my hope that she will be.
It’s wonderful that you have her voicemails. I am sending lots of love to you and your family. ❤️
Thanks lillyjo.❤️ I like to listen to them every now and then when I want to hear her voice.😌
I hope the celebration is beautiful and brings comfort to you all.
Thanks skalolazka.☺️
Aww, that sounds like a sweet way to remember her on her birthday and celebrate her life. Hugs!
Thanks cazaubon, hugs received!😊
Oh, Sunday will be a happy day! And golly those high school years fly by fast.
(I’ve joined you in Dear Polly.)
xxoo
We will do our best to make it a happy day!😊
Big hugs, madtowngirl. I have been thinking about the passage of time a lot lately.
Thanks She-ra.😊 Time is such a strange thing. When times are tough, it feels like it’s dragging, and then other times it feels like things go by in the blink of a eye.
So touched by your moving post. As time goes by we remember the good moments most of all.
Thanks Aurora, so true.☺️
grief is the price we pay for love.
Well said, apsara.😓
What a powerful message! Have a great time like your granny would like you to have!
Thanks hajusuuri, we will!😊
Sending hugs and wishes for a beautiful and comforting celebration of your granny this weekend. It is lovely that your are holding it on her birthday — a day to celebrate her coming into this world and all that she added to it while she was here.
Thanks Vee, there was some talk amongst family members initially to do it on Saturday but I insisted that it be on her actual birthday. We’ve waited this long, we’re going to do it right!
Very touched by this. What a lovely way to celebrate the love for your grandmother. She will be honored.
Thanks Gabriela, I hope so.☺️
I hope the mortal brings you peace and lots of happy memories
Thanks Kanuka.😊
Memorial !
I figured that’s what you meant.😉
How wonderful that you can finally gather to celebrate your grandmother’s life and memory. I hope you have a sweet time with your family and their stories.
Thanks sistine.😊
I, too, loved your beautiful post; she will always be with you and I hope she will surprise you with ‘visits’ at times you least expect. When my grandkids were small, we were sitting around our kitchen table near Halloween, and the twins were playing with a small crocheted pumpkin I had as a centerpiece that my beloved late MIL had made for my son years ago and I had always treasured. Watching the joy on their faces I was surprised to feel her presence very strongly as if she were right there in the room with us. Their joy and my remembrance had brought her there!
Aww, thanks Laila. She has visited me a few times in my dreams, and when she speaks to me it sounds just like her voice did, if that makes sense.
I hope that your get together goes off without a hitch. My brother has a voicemail from our Mom on his phone, and he forwarded it to me. I lost the voicemail I had. And then I lost my composure when I heard my Mom’s voice again.
Thanks Jalapeño. I can totally understand that.😓 Some days listening to her voicemails makes me smile, and other days it makes me cry.
I’m in Herba Fresca, from a decant that lives in the fridge. This is perfect for hot, steamy days. I have to say that I get more black tea than green tea from this, though.
Happy Friday, everyone! 🎉
I saw your weather on t.v. ugh… I hope it doesn’t last long.
It won’t get below 98 degrees in the daytime for the next two weeks, so no luck for us. 😞
I keep Dior Eau Fraîche in the fridge for the same purpose. 🙂
I’ve not smelled that one, but it sounds nice.
I keep my CdG Sherbet: Mint in the fridge, but you have me thinking about doing the same with Herba Fresca.
Mint….aha. Now you have me thinking about Saint Julep, and how it might be in the fridge. Thanks for the inspiration!
I should clear out the beer fridge and store my perfume in there for summer to see what is best cold 🤣
Dooooeeeeeet!
I’m again wearing Eau du Fier which must be my favourite tea scent.
You smell good too, Robin, Thé Pour un été is lovely.
You smell better!!
I would replace my bottle if I thought it smelled the same and if they still did 15 ml…love this scent but the top notes are the best part, and this bottle’s top notes are not happy.
Yesterday I wore Armani Prive The Yulong in the morning, and Nez Hongkong Oolong in the evening. Today’s scent is Le Labo The Noir, tea / fig / citrus / cedar. It’s gonna be a scorcha today.
Major points!!
Stay cool, pixel.
I am wearing Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Fig. This is a recent freebie from a generous NSTer that I love and I am enjoying a lot lately!
Beautiful, sunny, breezy day outside. I am planning to walk to the near waterfront promenade for a longer than usual lunch.
A coworker is retiring today and we will have tea and pastries late this afternoon. I wish I were the one retiring! Better stop thinking about it!
Happy and healthy Friday! 🌞
I had that kind of weather yesterday and enjoyed a walk on my lunch break too.😎
Weather twins! We will be in the upper 70’s and finally the humidity went down. I love days like this. Perfection!
Enjoy the day and the pastries!🌞
Thank you! I will! 🍵🥧🍮
Yum, tea and pastries and a nice long walk, enjoy!
Thank you! Looking forward to it!
Enjoy your afternoon in the sun! And I hope retirement can come soon for you!
Thank you, Gail!
There is still a long way for me for retirement, but… time flies! 😀
Have a wonderful stroll!
Thank you, Sistine! The stroll was indeed very enjoyable!
Gorgeous weather twins with you today! Bright sun and low-ish humidity. I’m definitely enjoying it while it lasts, since the weekend is looking a little icky.
The weekend here is going to be cloudy, humid and with rain on Sunday. Next week in the mid 80’s and muggy.😫. I really enjoyed my walks the past two days!
I will be twins with Pyramus in Bulgari Thé Noir today, once I get moving. Looking forward to a little bit of sun today after nothing but downpours yesterday.
Oh yeah, it poured all day yesterday! Sunny this morning, although it’s supposed to cloud over this afternoon and 30% risk of showers.
The CP inspired me to pull out my bottle of original Stella, and gosh, it’s beautiful. I know it’s meant to be peony and rose — to me, the rose is markedly a tea rose. And I’ve just brewed a cup of Barry’s Irish Breakfast, which I fell in love with in Galway and was delighted to find in Wegman’s, to drink alongside it.
I like Barry’s too!
Interesting that Saul Bellow and Maurice Sendak share a birthday. I am, predictably, in Mediterraneo. It and Nicolai’s Fig Tea are the only tea scents I wear regularly (I own Thé Blanche but couldn’t find it this morning).
The recaulking project is ongoing, and not nearly as much fun as it could have been because of a badly done repair job several years ago. There’s a layer of very thin caulk that has melded with the grout and is having to be very carefully chipped out with a box cutter blade. Very tedious. Thank goodness the tile is porcelain and resistant to scratching. SOME day I’ll get to do the actual recaulking! Happy Friday everyone.
You smell great! I only recently discovered Carthusia, and Mediterraneo is my favorite so far.
Wow but that does sound tedious. Good luck! And you smell more cheerful than your task!
I wish you good luck and lots of patience with that project.
Oy! That does sound like an annoying PITA.
My sotd is Gucci Memoire D’une Odeur. Literally one drop from a mini. Unlike the rest of the world, I find this very potent. My nose has definitely changed in the last few years. When I first tried this I remember I had trouble smelling it and dousing myself with the tester. Lol.
Happy Weekend everyone!🌞
You smell really nice!
Thanks! I thought of you and what was it? 12 sprays!?
Pretty sure that it is my body that has changed in the past few years, and not just the nose. I have some perfumes that I don’t like now, b/c menopause.
One of my favourite scents fits the bill perfectly: L’Artisan Eau de Jatamansi, the original, all natural formula. I still have few of these big, frosted glass bottles left. It has a prominent iced tea note. It’s a perfect light summer scent, but it has depth to it and the dry down lingers beautifully on skin.
I wish I had kept mine, but rehomed it several years ago because it wasn’t my thing at the time.
Sun this morning, yay!! Wearing Néroli Outrenoir.
Yaay for the sun ! Joining you with Néroli Outrenoir.
Yay for your sun!🌞
YES!🌞🌞🌞
Sun!🌞😎 You smell lovely.
Hooray for the sun!!!
Scent triplets with you and Hera!
Whoo hoo for the sun!
Sampling Dewaniya from Sultan Pasha which lists black tea absolute as one of its notes along with a million other things. It is very nice but was a bit too heavy at 6:45 am
That is early for anything 🙂
I was going to join Pyramus in Bvlgari Black today, but at the moment it’s looking sunny (I like Black on cool foggy days especially) and I managed to schedule a last minute pedicure in an hour so I’m going a bit more under the radar with Berdoues Assam of India for the morning.
This weekend I’ve got lots of housework (always, but especially this weekend as I’ve been playing away for a few weekends in a row) and some yard work which I’m actually looking forward to. AND, we had completely forgotten that we have tickets to the Pretty Woman musical! We will mask up well and go this time (for two years we’ve put our season tickets off to a later date).
Wishing everyone a happy weekend!
Yay for a pedicure! What color did you get?
In Dear Polly–which is very pretty.
For those who read about my mishap yesterday, it is 8:40 AM and I am drinking the last of my coffee, and then a third glass of water, after a huge breakfast. I am calmly approaching my fasting, which at least I am doing on the correct day! My next meal can be at 4 PM or later.
Will sign onto work in just a moment. Oooomph. I hate large breakfasts before 11!
Tonight the gals are getting together for drinks and ostensibly to talk about our book group selection, The Candy House. Sometimes we get deep, other times we just get tipsy 😉
Went back to read yesterday’s thread and hope the tests go well and they get to the cause. Sending big hugs and enjoy your book club!
I hope the appointment goes smoothly and they don’t keep you waiting.
Fingers crossed that your tests go smoothly and your book group is more tipsy than deep (at least, I find that more fun).
Sending positive vibes your way and wishing you well.
Hope that today is boring re: your tests.
Fragonard Jasmins Perle du Thé as my only tea fragrance (other than maybe some samples kicking around somewhere…). It’s a pleasant, easy fragrance. Gorgeous day here. Bet the nearby outdoor craft brew place will be packed this afternoon.
My husband wasn’t going to golf today, but he abandoned me yet again on my day off…. I didn’t really mind. But, I did wave my arm around the garage as he was getting in the car to comment that we need to deal with it…(boxes we need to sort through and organize, so we have room for the little 2nd car.) He said, “I know, I know…it’s on my mind.” My response? “Yeah, yeah, but I need it out your hands and feet.” 🙄
Queue Mr. Nelson 😉 There’s quite a bit in my Closet of Shame that’s often on my mind too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7f189Z0v0Y
Your husband sounds a lot like my husband.
Happy Friday! Smelling amazing in Perdizione and looking forward to the weekend.
What a name, I had to look up the notes. Perdizione sounds marvelous, I adore citrus, and lavender makes me so happy. 🙂
You smell great!
The stupid credit card just arrived today after a month’s wait. Wearing no 5 edp today. My mother gave me a huge shopping list today and that’s what I am doing after work today.
yes! to No. 5 EdP on a Friday. The perfect way to feel on top of the world – for shopping and everything else, too. 🙂
Glad to hear that your wayward credit card finally showed up.
I’ll claim a half CP point today for Philosophy’s Honey & Cream, which smells like what I put *in* some of my black teas.
Today’s tea is Coconut Cream. I’m sure it would be good iced for National Iced Tea Day, but it could be 110F out and I’ll still take my tea hot.
Points, why not?
I pretty much drink my tea hot in all weather too.
I grabbed the closest sample which is hitting the spot. Eau Rose EDP. A bit bitter for my tastes but it’s at least, an interesting rose. As far as teas..I liked Imperial Tea but let me guess…it is discontinued? Rrrgh Kilian. BVL makes good ones too and also liked EA White Tea.
It’s 112 today? Sheesh lol. Song of the day. .99 in the Shade by BJ..for summertime heat waves
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4USk4DiMKGo
A need a nice, tall lemonade or three 😋:). Speaking of tea..the tea lemonade combo drinks are yum. Iw will take one on the rocks.
tea + lemonade is a winner for sure, and I have a friend who makes pitchers of 1/2 lemonade + 1/2 margarita that are her summer-only treat. 🙂
Now that sounds good
Wow, 112 is stinking hot! 🔥🥵
SOTD = Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche
8 sprays, so very nice and points for the CP.
I haven’t decided if I will do a summer Friday but eh, we’ll see.
New York stories … where hajusuuri remarks on what transpired in NYC. These are from this morning —
1. A woman who was ahead of me was walking too slowly so I went ahead of her, casually. The next moment, I feel this rush of air, did not look back, but imagined her running smack into a guy who was rolling luggage. I hope she’s ok.
2. A guy sitting on a bench in front of Macys, balancing a shoe on his head…
3. A nice looking but ordinary-looking car stopped in front of a food cart. A nice looking vintage sports top Mercedes was behind it and the guy yelled at the car in front to move the effing car. In the meantime, there were no car on the street so he could have easily gone around the first car. 🤦🏻♀️
Oy! Let’s just say I was more attentive this morning but I’m sure there were other remarkable sights and sounds. This is New York City …
Yikes! NYC has some of the best people watching in the world. 😆
It sure does! All I needed was a cappuccino!
Those are illuminating vignettes for me, in my suburban hinterland! I loved my one trip to NYC, and all the New Yorkers I met, way back in 1980; will go again one of these days.
It’s definitely a very interesting place to work and to visit.
Literally laughed out loud in my car at #2 shoehead man!🤣
Even I couldn’t make that one up – too bizarre!
He was waiting for the other shoe to drop
Good one!
LOL! “Hot time, summer in the city!”
Was the shoe guy wearing any on his feet, or no?
Yes – one shoe where it’s supposed to be and the other one was balanced in his head. 🤣
Tons of free entertainment in NYC! 🙂
sotd = Assam of India
because lemony tea + tiny elephants = 😍
and this morning Assam smells nice over the last bits of the Infusion d’Iris EdT that I wore last night.
I’m looking forward to reading everyone’s tea-inspired scent choices. I always learn something from you, am reminded of samples I’ve forgotten I have, and feel inspired to try more scents every day.
happy Friday to all NSTers everywhere. You smell marvelous.
Yay for elephants!
I went and looked at the 2015 tea poll for inspiration too.
For the CP EL Tender Light, from the lovely set of minis which introduced the eight new scents last year. These have grown on me; one or two might be FBW in the future. However, part of my love I am sure is because I am a EL Fangirl forever. Happy Friday all!
Oh, glad to hear any of them are fbw…have heard so little about them.
I’m also wearing Assam of India today. This does so well in the heat, but it’s cool today, 65F (18C).
go Team Assam! 🙂 You smell great.
Almost enough for a tug of war!
No tea scents for me today. I’m in 4160 Tuesdays New York 1955 for its raspberry goodness. I do drink a raspberry herbal tea so maybe partial points?
Happy Friday everyone!
Hey, if a raspberry herbal tea is good enough for Celestial Seasonings, I think it counts! 😉🤣
Thank you, Jalapeno! That’s exactly the tea I use!
My love affair with smoothies continues, today it’s bananas, fresh strawberries and yogurt.
Spent the day in Tocca Colette, really piney aromatic, faded to a whisper on my sleeves but tonight for the CP it’s 5 O’Clock My Cup of Tea by Brocard which really smells of black tea and I’ve developed a fondness for it.
I used to use frozen raspberries and frozen blueberries in lieu of ice cubes when I was making smoothies on the regular. Stopped doing it b/c I was the only person drinking them.
Do you use a personal blender or a full sized one for yours?
The frozen acai packets at trader joes helped me up my smoothie game
I often used frozen berries too this winter but now that red fruits are in season I tend towards fresh.
It’s a personal blender by Bréville, it was less than £20 and works very well.
What a pity that you were the only one enjoying smoothies.
I keep forgetting today is Friday, and I when I got dressed this morning I grabbed Bond No 9 Madison Avenue and sprayed some quickly on.
I have so many I could’ve gone with because I love fragrances inspired by tea. When I first read this week’s CP, I had narrowed it down to two: Estee Lauder Tender Light and Hermes Osmanthe Yunnan. Alas, I missed out on this week’s project. But I am enjoying wearing Madison Avenue.
Wear it tomorrow and give yourself a retroactive point 🙂
I have no tea scents anymore, my Bulgaris aren’t teas. I used to have green, red and white; in fact, I was on my second full bottle of Au The Blanc, 1/3 full and years old, that lost it’s scent completely. The green and red teas were swapped ages ago, wish I still had them.
Today I am wearing Aura edp on top of Aura body lotion. I have an aura of Aura. Hope everyone is doing well, I’m behind in comment reading this week. Happy Friday!
Wow, it lost its scent, that’s just weird!
It’s like it turned to water, it was very weird.
In lemon ginger with a hint of jasmine Clarins Eau Extraordinaire. We might get snow today and it’s certainly cold outside.
Snow already! I am sorry. Unless you want snow in which case congratulations?
no CP points for me, i biked to work, so i used one of my decants i store there. SOTD was Chanel L´Eau, nice enough for work. My decant is emptying quickly… but i think i won ´t need a bottle.
Points always for biking to work, though!
In good company wearing Bulgari Black today
The Bulgari teas made a good showing today 🙂
Sotd is Hermes Osmanthe yunnan
Yum!
I was planning to wear Osmanthe Yunnan today but I saw the bottle of Jour d’Hermes next to it and couldn’t resist. I’ve been catching fabulous whiffs of myself all day.
So pretty! Maybe I will wear it tomorrow.
This morning’s warm sun and blue skies gave way to clouds, rain, and a drop in temps, perfect for my SOTD for the cp, one of my favorites, the original Bvlgari Omnia. I never wear this in summer but I’m happy it works quite well today.
Just before going out for groceries early this morning, I did something very unusual for me since I never wear scent for that errand. Spritzed on one tiny spray of Garden Botanika Heart, a scent from the 90’s. Does anyone remember it? I rarely wear it, and I rarely wear only one spray of anything, and I forgot how pretty this soft floral woody musk was. I was very surprised that not only could I smell just that one tiny spritz but that it lasted for several hours. A nice morning treat!
It was a busy week for me with my Friends of the Library annual meeting (I’m on the board, ❤️ libraries and all they do) and our first visit this year to a Sox game yesterday (they lost but it was a beautiful weather day to be at the ballpark). No outdoor concerts this week but we’ll be going to the Old Town School of Folk Music for a banjo concert tomorrow night featuring a talented new musician – should be fun! Next week temps are supposed to get up into the 90’s, so I’m hoping 🤞to finally get to the swimming pool for the first time this summer – one of my other passions since I was a little girl.
Wishing everyone a delightful weekend ahead and time to indulge in one of your own personal passions!
That’s a great venue. I saw Mark Lanegan there way back in 2013. Enjoy the banjo concert!
Garden Botanika! I haven’t thought about them in so long. We didn’t have The Body Shop at my mall, so all of my high school babysitting money was blown at Garden Botanika (and Gloria Jean’s coffee).
Jasmine green tea tastes just as good iced as it does hot to me. Not quite warm enough for that today. Just a perfect early summer day with temps lazing around 80 degrees.
SOTD = Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir, from the Sample Stash and hajusuuri. Definitely noticed the tea note(s) right away with this one!
You smell fabulous! I have to get ready to drink coffee – I bought 3 bottles of coffee mix … not sure how it will taste but I’ll know once they arrive next week. Let’s call them my coffee “sample”.
Sitting at my Saturday morning hair appointment, wearing Amber Room from Thameen. The sun is shining, but more rain is forecast. I’ve brought my umbrella for the walk home, I’d hate to get my new hair soaked 🙂
Hope you kept that hair dry Gaynor!
Currently in Eau de Deodorant, which is soft and powdery and all I could take smell wise today.
You smell fabulous 🙂
So unusual for me to leave two separate comments in one day!
– Did I dream that there was a post on a new Judy Garland perfume? I left a comment but the entire post about it including my comment went poof!
– I ummmm went to Saks today and they were probably price matching Macys so some beauty items are 15% off. Since I have difficulty resisting “sales”, I ended up buying L’Artisan Parfumeur Ode a l’oudh. I don’t even gravitate towards oudh in general but this one is 👍. I plan to split this but will wait until I have a second bottle before offering anything … thinking Zoologist Sacred Scarab if I can find at a slight discount. I have a one time use Twisted Lily 15% off and if they carry it within the next 60 days, I will get that.
Not an oud fan either, but Sacred Scarab reviews have been very positive. Will smell it in a few weeks at Etiket.
Do report back please!
Oh never mind … the Judy Garland post was from yesterday.
This has been a really hard week, especially since I’ve hardly posted during the CP week I suggested! 😳
At any rate, today was hot and I wore Berdoues Assam. Yesterday was CdG Nomad Tea, and tonight wearing my new love Angelos salon de t. Have a good weekend, everyone!
I’m sorry you had such a hard week. Thank you for suggesting this CP and of course, you smell lovely;)
Thank you so much, allo. Today is already better!
