Happy Friday and happy World Bicycle Day! Our community project for today: wear something sporty (or just outdoorsy, or whatever you think fits).
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I am wearing the only sport fragrance I own, Parfums de Nicolaï Balle de Match aka L'Eau de Sport.
Reminder: on 6/10, for National Iced Tea Day, wear a fragrance with a tea note (a repeat of the Tea Time Friday in 2015, by request from AnnE).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2022, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

DSH Sharkskin is fresh and breezy feeling although it’s a little to cool for it now, although the weather should warm up enough later.
I have some Sharkskin somewhere, I should dig it out.
Good morning and TGIF!
I don’t have any sporty scents but I am transported to the great outdoors visiting the tropical rainforest by Zoologist Chameleon.
Thunderstorms outside will not stop my fantasy!
Perfect!
I’m in Eau des Merveilles because: Hermès and horses, and horse back riding is sporty, right? It’s the best I’ve got anyway.😉
Another bluebird weather day today. Blue skies, not a cloud to be seen, 64 degrees and low humidity. I will take this 365, thank you very much. The kind of day that makes me feel optimistic and like all is right in my little world.🌞 No big plans for this weekend, just hoping for more of this weather!
Isn’t it fabulous? I could go for this 365 too.
It really is! Glad you are getting some of this fabulous weather too!🌞
I will allow snow on Christmas Eve, to stop around 5AM local time, melt away, then back to low 60s and low humidity. A girl can dream, right?
We have been spoiled this week! I’m loving it! 🌞
You and me both my friend!🌞🤘😎
Nice.
😊
I totally agree with you on the weather and loved your interesting tie-in of Hermès and horses! Eau Des Merveilles is in my top five but it always reminds me of the sea, which is outdoorsy as well. What always reminds me of horses and the beautiful horse country of Kentucky is EA Blue Grass, must get that one out soon.
Kept the Aliage sport going today, but I added some spritzes of Jour Ensolleille just to amp up the goodness.
Made it home just in time last night to avoid a quick squall that hit. Today is beautiful, though. I, however, noticed my eye was unusually red yesterday and then last night it was hideous and I thought there was something in it. It was scratchy and sore. So, I kept flushing with drops. Dawned on me this morning that it’s likely pink eye. What the heck? I used some of my antibiotic/steroid eye drops to see if that will help. It’s better this am, but I’m quite sure that what’s going on.
I swear, every virus or what not tends to hit my eyes. And I’ve been very good about eye care lately. So, the antibiotics likely won’t help…it’s likely a virus.
Oh dear, hope that eye is better soon LizzieB!
Ouch! Hope it’s better for you soon. Tree, grass and weed allergies are currently high in my area, perhaps that doesn’t help?
Hi twin – Aliage was never a favorite of mine, but as an EL fangirl, I had to have it. Today it is smelling very good to me. My older bottle has some fusty citrus notes at the top, but then the other notes come out to play. I hope your eye is better soon. I hate eye issues. I have had viruses attack my eyes before, too. It is scary.
Pink eye? Oh ICK! That is incredibly contagious.
Ouch! I assume you’ve also changed your pillowcases besides what you did with eye make-up related stuff (or at least I think it was you).
Sotd is Eau de Givenchy.
I don’t have any overtly “sporty” fragrances but someone mentioned this classic and I’m grateful to be rediscovering it this morning. I’m not a big neroli fan but EdG balances it so well with the orange blossom and green notes.
Yep, you smell great allo!
I love the vintage version of Eau de Givenchy! Haven’t smelled the current.
I want to try the vintage version since this one is so good:)
I’m wearing Nicolai New York, it’s the sportiest scent I own and it’s perfect for cool, dry sunshine.
I never learned to ride a bike despite my dad’s constant efforts. Turns out I was born with tiny twisty ear canals that affect my balance. So I have an excuse, kind of, for my clumsiness.
We are cousins!!
That’s interesting. I get very dizzy playing tennis and always wonder if it was my ear canals. Bikes don’t bother me though.
Not really a sporty person, but I think lavender all on its own is a sporty kind of scent — fresh, herbal, bracing — so I’m wearing 4711 Acqua Colonia Lavender & Thyme.
Perfect! (And I’m not sporty either. I just like riding bikes.)
Andy Tauer’s lavender scent is the best!
Are you talking about Reverie au Jardin? I love that one.
Yes
In Chanel Paris-Venise. Not sporty, and not apologetic about it…
It sounds like it could be a good People Watching scent, sitting in a train carriage taking in the world around ( my kind of sport).
Mine too!
One of my favorite hobbies! So many people have their heads down looking at their phones, I much prefer watching people. Free entertainment!
Prompted by a sample that just arrived from allo, I am in Cycle 001 (Maison Violet) which has a sporty name 🙂 ! This one reminds me of Diptyque’s Fleur de Peau. I’ll do a side by side, wrist to wrist comparison at some point.
Points for the name!
Right now I’m basking in Encre Noire and trying to think of a sporty connection for it … uh, nope. So post-shower it will be Bel Respiro, the most outdoorsy scent I own.
Ah, but it does smell great. They did a sport variation, IIRC.
Looking at fragrantica I can confirm that you do recall correctly, and aside from a mention of “watery notes” it actually sounds interesting.
“watery notes” send shivers down the spine…
Exactly. And not in a good way. 🥺
I’m in Atelier Cedrat Enivrant because it smells fresh and sporty to me!
Happy Friday, all you NST folk. ❤️😊
Happy Friday Nancyleandros!
Happy Friday! 👋
I love this one. It’s a staple in my travel bag although I haven’t traveled since … March 2020.
Happy Friday!
I’m in Shalimar MVP. I guess it could fit into Boudoir Sports category?
Boudoir Sports, thanks for the chuckle!! I love it.
Ha! Yes, you are so clever.😂
Deva, you crack me up!
Please define your terms.
That might violate comment guidelines…☺️
Rawr!
🤣
A very dark rainy day here, unfortunately not bicycle weather. I’m in Gourmand Coquin for cmfort.
If the bottle was here instead of San Diego, I’d be wearing Goldfield & Banks Blue Cypress, which smells very sporty/outdoorsy to me.
I am really taken with Goldfield and Banks scents. They are very easy to wear. Hope the sun shines on you soon
I really like the line too, looking forward to smelling the new Purple Suede. We did get a few hours of sun after our torrential rains and high winds!
But more rain tomorrow and Sunday.
Woo! This is in the Discovery Set. I will try it soon!
It smells like the Pacific Northwest to me.
I’m really wishing you some good weather!
Have you had any house showings yet?
Thanks, we got a bit of sun after the storm, back to rain all weekend though. We’ve had 7 showings in two weeks, things are slow due to interest rate hikes and foul weather.
I’m not a very sporty person, but I do love riding bikes. One of my favorite bike riding memories is teaching my son how to ride a bike during the pandemic lockdown. I kept my expectations low, because he has a physical disability and poor hand eye coordination, but he completely surprised me by mastering it in a few days. It brought me so much joy to see him zipping around and gaining confidence!
My SOTD will be MCMC Mociun #2, it’s a very outdoorsy and relaxing scent for me.
Aw, that’s an adorable recollection.
My Dad taught both me and my brother how to ride bikes. My brother figured it out much sooner than I did.
I failed to teach my son, in days and days, and then my husband taught him in 10 minutes.
What a nice association. We learned using training wheels. My brother figured it out way sooner than the rest of us did when he was forced to power through as he was being chased by a dog.
LOL!
I have a photo of me with two black eyes from one of my early bike forays. Hit a piece of wood and flew over the handlebars!
I’m glad to hear your son did so well. 🙂
Habit Rouge,
Not that fox hunting has ever been my sport
Oh, but you do smell good!
Jean Patou Joy.
Good news in my life right now: I am going to be a grandmother! We are so excited 🙂
Cheers 🥂
Congratulations!
How wonderful, Barqs. I can only imagine the excitement! Congratulations to your family!🎉
How wonderful. What joy!
Very happy for you.
Wonderful news! And your fragrance expresses the sentiment perfectly! Best wishes to the whole family.
Congrats! Treasure every moment; they grow up way too fast.
Congratulations Barqs!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Joy, indeed!!
Congratulations! 🎇🎊🎉
Lovely, good for you! And perfect scent for it.
Congratulations!
Congratulations! May all go well for mom & baby.
Thanks everyone !
Congratulations!
For the CP Eau de Cologne by Chanel.
The juice reminds me of the smell right before summer , when I would ride my bike and smell the fresh air of spring , the subtle smell of florals. My friends and I waiting for school to end.
That’s got to be one of the most perfect colognes. You smell quite refined! 😊
Since it’s Bicycle Day, I have Queen’s Bicycle Race stuck in my head. I did see the new Downton Abbey movie on Wednesday while wearing ISM. The ending was kind of sad and I don’t think that they can make another Downton Abbey movie. Wearing Coco Mademoiselle today.
Great minds think alike! I have had that same earworm all week. 🐛
I hope they leave the Downton Abbey franchise alone now, the loose ends all seemed to get tied up. I really enjoyed the movie.
Not sporty, not at all, and no really sporty fragrances. Though if it clears up later I have maybe a couple of ideas from the above (New York Intense, Mem to do lavender).
It’s dark, cool and rainy here, and I went with La Curie Ossuary because it felt like an iris day.
Currently in plumber hell. The next part of our house that needs to be redone is the washrooms, but I’ve been putting that off until next year. But then the shower faucet handle sheared off in the master bath and there’s no putting it back on. We’ve been trying to get a plumber to come in, and they just continually tell us things like “tomorrow afternoon; we’ll call right before we arrive” and then they don’t call. And that’s the plumber we could get to respond; the others aren’t even responding to the initial request. I’m very tired of having three of us using the second washroom, and the cat is tired of going to the litterbox in the middle of that washroom (the shower was where her litterbox lived, so actually four of us are using that washroom right now).
Oh no! You can’t seem to take a break with the home renovations and repair stuff! I hope your weekend is better.
Oh no! That sucks. I hope you can get someone out there soon.
I went for a more general outdoors vibe, layering Eau Rose and Vetyverio. The vetiver muscles out the rose as time goes on, but they’re a great pair.
One week of school before summer break!
love your layering combo !
It’s frosty outside which makes me think of curling. The closest outdoor curling rink is a couple of hours away in Power of the Dog country ( where it was filmed) : tussocks, scattered pines, wild thyme, rosehips, vipers Blugloss…though very little by way of scent in winter. Thinking wool hats and scarves, hot cocoa from a flask, red cheeks, maybe a small fire for warmth, couple of dogs chasing around, sheep in a nearby paddock munching winter feed or Swedes, maybe a shot of whisky passed around friends. Jo Malone whisky and cedar wood and Olympic orchids woodcut.
This all sounds lovely. Have you curled before? I would love to hear about it.
No I haven’t but I have been ice skating at night on a frozen dam. We made burning torches and skated up the dam and river in total darkness. The ice cracked and made whoop whoop noises, and embers flew off the torches. It was magical and spooky.
Wow! Great image.
Curling is very popular here in Canada, we have two curling clubs within 15kms of us. But not outdoor rinks, Vancouver Island isn’t consistently cold enough. In Montréal, yes.
I went for Aromatics Elixir, makes me think of outdoors in fall but tonight I am in Lush American Cream, maybe it evokes sweet candy you would be munching at a sporting event.
Day two of the Jubilee, I went shopping but my brother travelled to St Paul’s and saw all the Royal family (well, except the Queen who watched the service on TV). I could get addicted to 4-day weekends. He reported crowds were having a great time, generally making the most of the day.
We have a three day weekend for Queens Birthday but no big celebrations apart from a 21 gun salute a few days ago.
So glad you are enjoying a long weekend, Sunday everyone will have a picnic.
I bet that was fun, I enjoyed seeing her and the “working royals” on the balcony. She looked as if she was enjoying the occasion, so I hope she did — she has earned it!
Yes, although I can’t help but think she must be a bit blasé by now.
You smell wonderful! I have really enjoy seeing the Jubilee festivities!
Thank you! Glad you virtually participate.
Aromatics Elixir is good stuff!
I sure enjoyed it, I just noticed my vintage bottle is pre-barcode.
I recorded the coverage and will leisurely watch it!
Enjoy! Brits are very Good at pageantry, I find.
Since I don’t bike and my ‘sporty/outdoorsy’ favorite summer scent, YR Naturelle, was used for last week’s cp, I’m interpreting this week’s cp a bit differently.
This week my peonies and shrub roses have literally burst into the most fragrant bloom, and I’ve been enjoying wearing peony and rose fragrances all week to carry their scent with me wherever I go. So today I’m enjoying the LE from a few years ago, L’Occitane Pivoine Delicat, a soft blend of peony and green notes, with a little rose and a bit of powder, very pretty. My justification for today’s cp is if you were biking past my house, since the peonies are growing outdoors near the street, you would definitely enjoy their fragrance. How’s that for creativity?
We’ve had gorgeous weather most of this week – sunshine, blue skies, low humidity and temps in the 70’s. Perfect weather for outdoor 🎶 concerts, and we’ve really indulged – will be going to our fourth one in a week. In addition to the Patchouli one I mentioned last week, we’ve been to two Rockin’ in the Park concerts with fantastic fireworks post-show, one a Chicago cover band playing lots of good stuff from the 70’s on, and the other a tribute band to Kansas. Tonight I’m really looking forward to R&B and Motown, favorites of mine. Many of the suburban park districts and municipalities around here sponsor free concerts and you can usually find one most days of the week. So many talented musicians and so much to enjoy!❤️
Wishing everyone an enjoyable weekend ahead!
How fun, to go to all these concerts! And roses and peonies — what a beautiful combination. Enjoy!
I love your take on the CP and those concerts sound right up my alley.
Peonies in bloom smell so much better than any perfume claiming to have that note. It’s a puzzlement.
Your fragrant description sounds great! I love outdoor concerts.
Nothing sporty or outdoorsy for me today! After getting some gardening done before it got too hot and muggy today, I’m in La Fenice pour Femme, from Merchant of Venice. The bottle is so gorgeous, it makes me very happy! The fragrance is beautiful — a floral gourmand, with a vanilla drydown and base, softened by heliotrope and almond.
Get (it done) while the getting is good!
That perfume sounds great!
How did you discover this one? Would like to order a sample, I’m an almond and vanilla fiend.
I first became intrigued by the Merchant of Venice line when I was able to visit Venice in 2019, and they had sponsored an exhibit on perfume at the Palazzo Mocenigo museum, which has a whole section on perfume: https://scentsandsensibilities.co/2019/08/11/scent-sample-sunday-the-merchant-of-venice/. Then I bought their Flower Fusion and liked it a lot; and I’ve been a bit obsessed with the bottle for La Fenice. So when I saw it online for a good price, NIB, and read descriptions of it, I took the chance!
I’m in Mure et Musc for a funny reason. Near the start of my perfume journey I made a friend at Neiman Marcus who was the SA there for L’Artisan. She once told me how she enjoyed wearing this when she went bicycling. It wafted pleasantly around her. That nice memory came back to inspire my choice.
I now have a cast on my arm and it’s very hard to type so this is short. It’s healing but my actions are very restricted.
I’m glad to read that you’re improving.
Glad you are on the mend!
I’m another non-sporty person, the closest I’ve got is watching Formula One motor racing on TV as a teenager. I went to see an exhibition of the cars a few years ago – amazing, but no perfume associations come to mind.
I enjoy long walks in the weekend, and pretty much any perfume goes with that. Aqua Allegoria Figue-Iris has come to mind. I have read that it has been re-issued as Promenade des Anglais, a promenade is a walk, so all good 🙂
We walk quite a bit, more than we bike! Points for promenading 🙂
In Sous le Toit de Paris by Atelier Cologne today. It’s too bad this line is no longer sold in the US, though maybe some retailers will still stock it. I like this one okay, but a couple of the others were real favorites.
I’m glad our weather has gotten a bit milder in the Delaware Valley and this afternoon is gorgeous. Have a good weekend, everyone.
This is my favorite of the line!
Have a good weekend too!
I love Sous le Toit. 🙂
In Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee just because….
On my way home already and very glad is already Friday! It is beautiful outside!
Happy Friday! 🌞
You smell nice and indeed, happy Friday. Looking forward to the weekend but what a weird week!
Do you have Junetheenth off? I knew we had a day off but it really surprised me that it was coming up so soon.
Thank you, Hajusuuri!
Yes, I have Junetheenth off. I had forgotten about it, until someone in the office mentioned it yesterday. Looking forward to it! 💃
Wow, early dismissal for you! W00t w00t!
💃🌞
Happy Weekend!🌞🌷
👋🌞
Song of the Day: https://youtu.be/hCJQD5RYigs
Lillyjo would probably think of this one, too!
Happy to have a much drier day today. Only one rain shower, and that was in the morning. 🤣🌈☔ The humungo mountain of laundry has finally been pared down to just a normal-sized pile (for now). Yay for Friday!
SOTD = L’Artisan Timbuktu. I went with “outdoorsy”, since I couldn’t find my bottle of Dior Higher. Why don’t I wear Timbuktu more often? Oh yeah, I have a gajillion bottles, decants, and samples. That’s why.
I’ll see you that song, and up you this one..! 😂
https://youtu.be/vWz9VN40nCA
🤣🤣🤣!
I remember when KSL in Salt Lake City refused to play that one! Too risque!
Ha! You sound just like me with the Why Don’t I Wear This More Often scentiment LOL.
We are part of the “Well Perfumed Contingent”! 😉
I did not think of it!
I did think of this though because of your sotd
https://youtu.be/lqkxd32dbwM
Lol
Hah! That song makes me think of all the people who were engineering majors when I was in college.
Aliage “Sport Fragrance Spray” for the CP! I finally got it because my EL collection needed the original bottle IMHO. I found one with some nice juice for a good price. It’s speaking to me more than it ever has, and I am sure my bottle has lots of nice oakmoss. Happy Friday! Note to Robin: the double post thing is my mouse. I guess I am going to have to get a new one. Sorry!
…but the finger…
Jk, so many things are hard to explain but at least you found your reason.
“User error” is a possibility. 🙂 Also, just got another wave of ahhh from Aliage…
Funny how sometimes it takes a while for a perfume to click with you. And other times it never happens.
I have missed posting a couple of days because the condo was being painted and my perfume was stuck behind sheeting protecting the cabinets. It’s all done now and looks wonderful. I’m wearing Cafe Tuberosa, so not CP compliant, but it’s a nice scent even if it isn’t terribly sporty.
You smell wonderful – I am a big Atelier fan. Iris Silver Mist and Cafe Tuberosa vie as my two favorites, with Oud Saphir and Encens Jinhae close behind. I very much like any I have, with Mimosa Indigo lagging due to its subtlety.
You absolutely smell great!
You smell great! Your condo must be looking quite nice after all the upgrades you’ve done.
It’s truly gorgeous!
Late to the party!
SOTD = 4160Tuesdays Mother Nature’s Naughty Daughters EDP
Nice! On theme because the daughters make a sport out of being naughty. This may go along with Deva’s interpretation, just sayin’ 🤣
https://www.instagram.com/p/CeXLaFoOJ6K/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I got my free donut at Krispy Kreme. I got the classic glazed donut because I did not peruse the choices beforehand. At the end of the day, I think I am a picky eater because I get stuck eating the same thing over and over again. I have expanded my menu though, so there’s that.
My sister just “fired” her travel agent for not doing anything. I have the same one and she did not respond to me either. So, I will decouple myself from this travel agent because she should not be earning anything for doing, well, nothing.
I get my haircut tomorrow – tomorrow! Woohoo! It’s about 10 days overdue so it will feel really good!
Lol! I say extra points for Mother Nature… she’s gotta be sporty. I bet she really likes skiing!
Haha!
The classic glazed is one of the best choices at Krispy Kreme, IMO. But I am also partial to the lemon-filled. Apparently the raspberry-filled is very good, but it is one of the first things to sell out at the location I went to.
Hip hip hooray for the haircut!
I’ll remember this for next time.
You smell great! I always go for the simple flavors too. I am definitely a picky eater, partly because I have a dodgy stomach and have to be careful.
Finally sitting down. I had some idea’s for the cp today but I had to answer to what called my name. Arizona by Proenza Scholar (sp?) It rarely speaks to me so I didn’t want to miss the opportunity. Today was the last day of school for my daughter and I sprayed her with Tommy Girl for points by proxy!🤣
She actually loves it and has worn half the bottle. Back in the day it was a top 5 sporty perfume. Next to Polo Sport and Cool Water.
My sister-in-law wears Tommy Girl, and it smells really nice on her.
Someone at work was wearing this to today and I just had to ask her what she was wearing.
You definitely have to take advantage of those days when you crave a rarely worn perfume.
Super late but checking in to say my SOTD was Estee Lauder’s self- proclaimed sporty perfume, vintage Aliage. It’s a wonderful perfume that I’ve only worn twice from a travel spray that’s almost empty. I got it as part of a vintage mini lot in a swap. And I think I might need to grab a bottle on eBay once what I have is gone.
